My wife and I were in the store yesterday and Maggie helped us unfortunately, we were not aware there was a 5.00 minimum for credit card use. We had no cash and since we don't drive we walked 3/4 of a mile for some crickets for our leopard gecko who was very hungry a the moment. I've always gotten good quality things, and this time I utilized the "additional note" option when ordering some cork bark and let them know what I was hoping to do/what my vision was for my tank and I was super specific and hoped for the best and they did not disappoint, I was surprised by how accurate they were able to get to my request and I just really appreciate them taking the time to select specific sized/shaped pieces. Definitely don't ever go in expecting anything too specific when buying online bioactive decor/woods from anywhere. It can't always be perfect but this time it worked out that way so I wanted to give them a shout out. I got more pieces than I expected for the price also, and I think an extra thing of bioshot? Can't say enough good things about The Bio Dude. I've been using their products for a while now, and I've never received something and was disappointed or had buyers remorse. In fact, this last order I feel I got the better end of the wood deal, hahah! Everything about The Bio Dude is exceptional. The price is really great too, however owning reptiles and any animal for that matter, is going to cost money to do it right. The Bio Dude could probably charge x1 or x2 and I would still happily buy the exact same things, because the quality and service are on target. We have a lovely panther chameleon, and had had issues keeping the humidity where it should be. A climate controlled house is fine for humans, but it's a bit dry for reptiles! The Bio Dude was super nice in DMs, answered all my questions, and made me confident I was making the right choice buying my bioactive supplies from him. Our substrates and bag arrived in a timely manner and shipping was negligible. Everything had clear instructions and was very easy to set up. Since allowing it to cycle a bit, our humidity has been MUCH more stable and easy to control, and our Tito is a happy little dude. I just want to say...thank you so so so much for existing. They really mean it when they say they want their animals to thrive, not just survive. All their reptiles and animals look like they're living the life because they create the best environment I've ever seen at a reptile/pet store. It makes me so happy to see all their bearded dragons being all chunky lolll. ALSO The amount of times I've watched the bio dudes videos to ensure I got everything right to guarantee a great life for my beardie is obsessive but not really lolllll. Josh's (biodude) videos are so informative and so helpful I will be faithfully watching every new (beardie) video lol. I've watched his video so many times and he does say he's from Texas but I didn't think he was literally 25 minutes away from me. I am so happy about that. Also I got to meet him so that was fun lol. It was like meeting a celebrity lol. Their plants are so affordable, their bugs are affordable, and they have such a great variety of things (GOOD Wood/real decor, bugs, plants, other reptiles and other animals although I went there specifically for a bearded dragon). I made sure I prepared mostly everything before I adopted my beardie from biodude besides the isopods and springtails but I got to buy it at the biodudes store so yay (They were literally sold out in Dubia.com and the biodudes website) I love love love how they really try to make sure their animals are going to a good home and I appreciate that so much because they ask for tank set-up photos and said they'll contact after 14 days because this isn't a pet that is bought on a whim or a seasonal pet. It's a forever family pet OKEI. This isn't about their in person store as much as it is their online customer service. last weekend I ordered some isopods from them, and on the day they were supposed to be here FedEx held them at their facility and said I needed to confirm my address. When I tried to do so, they told me only the sender could confirm the address. Since then I've tried to contact the Bio Dude team multiple times for help with my package and have received NONE! Live isopods that will probably arrive a week late now, if at all, because I can't get any help! read more

I absolutely recommend BioDude products and speaking with their staff! I reached out to the BioDude team in Feb '22 as we were close to welcoming our first ball python and I was making the leap to bioactive for our first snake. Needless to say, I had SO many questions (mostly newbie ones) and they didn't even hesitate to generously give their time to provide honest and accurate information. I was fortunate enough to get a staff member named Mirayah and when I say she generously gave her time, I mean a week of back and forth emails with multiple paragraphs in each. She helped me build a custom package for our boy and we were pleased with everything she recommended. I had a few follow up questions maybe a month later which I got a quick response and reassuring feedback. Fast forward 6 months later and summer hits and we all the sudden started having some hiccups with the humidity. I tried a few things that weren't helping so I decided to see if BioDude customer service had any good tips and sure enough I got Mirayah. She once again took so much time to talk it through with me, even asking for photos to check the soil and plants and where I had the hygrometers set up etc. She worked with me to find a solution and not just put a band aid on the issue. As far as their products we bought the ball python kit along with additional substrate, litter, moss and plants as our enclosure is 4x2x2. We also bought the hygrometers, lights, corks and lamps. I watched the BioDude video on set up and it made it very easy to then do from our home. The only "issue" we had was one of the hygrometers didn't work because a small piece was bent. When I reached out they, of course, kindly offered to replace after trying one thing that didn't fix it. All in all my experiences have been amazing and I would absolutely recommend them. I have made the hour drive to them multiple times and spent a lot of money setting up 6 different bio active setups. I recently purchased two very young red eyed tree frogs and one of them died within about 36 hours. After emailing with their customer service and speaking on the phone with multiple people, they emailed me saying that they would replace the one that died next time I came down. Yesterday, I made the trip down there to get my red eye they and their "customer service" manager said even though they said in the email that they would replace my frog, they now refuse to. Try SNS, Animal Ark or Pets a Plenty here in Houston. I will be shopping these others from now on. read more

This company is absolutely amazing. I purchased a bearded dragon recently in Washington state and also purchased the terra Sahara bio active kit from the bio dude. Our new dragon could not be happier with her natural habitat. Also I had some questions that my local breeder couldn't answer so I called the bio dudes store in Texas and a lady helped me out and answered every question I had. She must have spent 30 minutes in the phone with me and helped me out so much. They unfortunately don't have actual dragons. They have things called bearded dragons which are different. They told me "dragons don't actually exist" but I know what I saw. First of all I find it ridiculous I have to download an app called Route and go through all these steps with linking/signing up/creating a password to track ONE PACKAGE. So that was highly inconvenient and wasted my time immensely because that app was awful and ended up removing it. Also there are no other shipping options except spending $20 for FedEx shipping I ordered last Thursday and is now Tuesday, I expect next day shipping if I am forced to pay $20 for shipping from Texas to Arizona like is that a joke? Do your own research prior to buying stuff for your pets. They will sell you items that you don't need for your pet. And say "yes you need this", then when you ask them they say a"sorry for the confusion". The customer service is rude and passive aggressive. read more

Josh is very informative and I can tell he values his care for creating the best setups for reptiles. His staff are knowledgeable and helpful, I had a dire situation with ants in my setup and I had to replace the whole substrate; josh was kind enough to send me the same substrate for free. I am thoroughly disappointed. I ordered one their expensive starter kits. We have a 75 gallon so this came to just shy of 250.00 after shipping. I contacted the company via email within 2 days about the grow light that came with was broken and had missing parts. I was emailed back being told I de-selected a protection option I never saw. They have only said they will give me a discount on a new light and send the missing parts. I'm sorry I already paid for something I cannot use. The light housing is bent and the bulb was shattered. They put zero bubble wrap or padding in a huge box to hold a much smaller box with the light fixture. And what makes me much more frustrated about all of this is a policy written on their site itself about damaged and missing items being replaced if contacted in 48 hours. and nothing about it requiring the additional coverage. I was told to contact Fedex to try and resolve the problem. Where is the customer service? read more

I ordered a $140 cage that was lazily packaged and nowhere on the site is it mentioned that your packages are shipped as is and that insurance might be useful. Instead, my items arrived shoved together in the same ripped up box with two holes in the screen wall of my item. It looks like the box was damaged BECAUSE whoever packaged it threw my other item, a bottle of Flower Power, just randomly into the box.
