Now let me tell you, we walked in and were seated almost immediately. Yes, there were some stairs involved, but baby, anything worth having requires a little cardio. I walked in knowing EXACTLY what I wanted, and that lobster roll was at the top of my list. My daughter and I were seated in a private room with other guests, and let me tell you, these folks had that expensive-sounding laugh. You know the one, "AHAHAHA! clink!" Between the two of them, I don't think my glass had a chance to hit empty. Now my daughter went to the bathroom and came back absolutely blabbering about how fancy it was and how they had mouthwash. Naturally, I said, "Oh, I HAVE to see this." And baby...she was not exaggerating. That bathroom might have been the fanciest part of the entire experience. Mouthwash, all the little necessities, everything you could possibly need. The lighting was a little dim, though, and unfortunately I learned that lesson personally when I walked right into the door. Graceful? No. Entertained? Absolutely. Then came the bread basket. Ohhhh, the bread basket. That bread was soft as a cloud and practically swimming in butter. I don't know what they did back there, but I was ready to write them a thank you note. And finally, the lobster roll. BABY. Based on the "marijuana odor" warning sign on the door I worried that this was going to be one of those places where every staff member is phoning it in. Actually (yes, this was my first time at an Ocean Prime), it turned out to be a fantastic restaurant with a lot of good choices between steak and seafood with nothing over the top. Upon arrival, we felt discriminated traveling with our service dog. The gentleman at the door did not properly greeted us, he said for my child(26 yr old) to wait at the door and that I was the only one allowed to enter and check with his manager for approval of the service dog into their dining area. We were not offered to sit at the main dining hall. Boo! For a 4 star restaurant, they didn't provide four star service. Not a pleasant experience. The server was nicer and the food was good. They assured us they would get her to our table and we could immediately be seated. The tables aren't too close. You can easily have a conversation with someone and hear them. White linen tablecloths and heavy cutlery. Very simple yet elegant decor around you. We ate dinner early, 5:30pm on a Thursday 24 September 2026 and there were plenty of open tables . After my friend arrived she asked for a drink on the menu without alcohol. The bartender said no it couldn't be done. She suggested another, again no. My husband's drink was filled with crushed ice (similar to 7-11 big gulp ice) and maybe a quarter cup of actual drink. The waiter returned with a replacement drink but it too had crushed ice. The drink should have block ice so it doesn't water down and you could see you had a drink. I ordered sea bass with mashed potatoes. It is $67.00 for a 3 inch by three inch piece of sea bass with very runny mashed potatoes underneath the fish. It is about a third cup of the runny potato's. It comes with a balsamic glaze that I asked be on the side. It was very sour and I didn't eat it. My friend ordered the same as I and it looked exactly the same. My husband ordered salmon and asked it be well done. He enjoyed the salmon, it was a small portion too and very basic. We had the dessert butter cake and chocolate peanut butter pie. Both were delicious. If I returned to this restaurant it would be for dessert and coffee. The sea bass was disappointing, salmon boring and the cocktails were not properly prepared. read more

We were Celebrating our 42nd Wedding Anniversary and decided to eat at Ocean Prime. Our server Hunter was amazing. His suggestions and service were spectacular. My husband had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the Teriyaki Salmon and both plates were made to perfection. My plate included Cesar salad and dessert since it was restaurant week. My friends and I ate brunch here, and the food and service were fantastic! They're strict about the opening time though, so they will not let you inside if you're there even 2 minutes early. To drink, you must start with the Berries and Bubbles, which is as delicious as it is beautiful. To eat, there are plenty of options for everyone. My favorite item was surprisingly the Veggie Roll - unexpected, because I don't usually like asparagus. The Brussels Sprouts, Truffle Mac, and Smoked Gouda Tater Tots are must-order sides. Sea scallops with parmesan risotto was delicious. Juicy scallops. The risotto was creamy and flavorful. I thought I wouldn't like the peas but it was all so good. For drinks I had a prime passion which was sweet and tangy. The butter cake dessert with ice cream, berries, and I think a raspberry sauce was delicious. The warm bread for the table was also really good. A nice variety with fluffy loafs, pretzel style, and cracked. Came with whipped butter and it was a nice start for the table. Our waiter was patient with up and checked on us with our hovering. Multiple staff members helped with clearing our table and keeping our glasses filled. The lowlights gave it a romantic and intimate vibe even with though there were multiple tables sitting in larger groups. My only complaint was the closeness of the tables. I truly had no idea what to expect walking in here. It could easily have been a snootier lunch place people take their business clients in the area to. And it may very well be. But the service and overall meal does not reflect that as an experience at all. The food was surprisingly good. Pricey but not really for the area and for what you're getting. The west coast oysters were plump, the sauce could have been a skosh more interesting but the presentation was delightful. We also grabbed one of the sushi rolls, which came with one of the more interesting soy sauce serving dishes I've experienced. For mains I grabbed the crabcake melt, which was divine. A ton of crab meat, lovely dressing. The salad was surprisingly flavorful and well-balanced and could have eaten that as a whole meal. The service was so attentive and the place itself is really elevated. There are bucket list wines depending on $$$ of course and this place had 3 of them right there for the taking. Someday it will be mine, but not on this evening :( We had a very nice Amarone Valpolicella which is has a unique way of fermenting grape juice and I suggest you take a quick look at the process of this wine fermented with dried grapes in the Veneto region of Italy. Overall I'm so impressed with Ocean Prime that I find it hard to reconcile that is is a national chain. Our host was absolutely charming and full of energy during the meal. He had a story about getting called in to work last weekend and said that they had a special guest coming by and they wanted to make sure their A team was in place. My boyfriend and I stopped by for our anniversary dinner last night since I've been wanting to come here for a while. We had a reservation and were seated within a few minutes of arriving. The place itself is spacious, and the dim lighting makes it perfect for a romantic dinner. They sat us in the dining room, and the only drawback was that we were seated right between two other tables that were very close to ours, so we didn't love that. They start you off with warm bread, and the pretzel sticks were my favorite. I chose the pineapple picante for my cocktail and loved it! My boyfriend first had the espresso martini, which was alright, and then he had the prime passion, which was really refreshing, but he wished it was stronger. For appetizers, we got the Caesar and house salads, both solid. For my entrée, I got the 8oz filet, and wow, I was truly blown away! My boyfriend got the teriyaki salmon, and he also enjoyed it. For dessert, we got the ice cream with almond cracker and carrot cake, both of which were delicious. Overall, I would definitely return and would recommend this place for any special occasion. We came here for the Restaurant Week dinner... only to find out it's not available on weekends (NYC tourism website needs an update!). The servers were playful yet attentive, making for a fun experience. We arrived at 4 PM, and the place filled up fast. Our table ordered a variety of dishes: the Chilean sea bass special with crab meat, scallops with parmesan risotto (the risotto was a standout: creamy, delicious, and I didn't even mind the peas), and the teriyaki salmon, which was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with shiitake sticky rice. Upon arrival we waited a few minutes to see that we were being seated in a private room that was huuuge. The service was superb, attentive, and very friendly. They served our meals, got chairs for our purses, took our pictures, and refilled our glasses as needed. Scallops were soft, tasteful. The braised beef was also soft, savory, sweet, perfectly balancing each other. The ribeye was amazing, melted in my mouth, and was great with the sauce. Pairing it with the creamy mashed potato was the perfect combination in every bite. I enjoyed the steamed broccoli as it was seasoned well and a bit crispy on the edges. The calamari was a little tangy and not too much my taste but I enjoyed a few and is always a classic appetizer. Dynamite roll was the perfect bite and had a little kick to it.
