I have been a member of OCCU, formerly ULaneO, for over forty years. I have never had any issues with them concerning any of my accounts. Customer service at my branch, West 11th, and online has always been fantastic and they often go the extra mile if necessary. I read some of they one star reviews and I'm sorry their experiences are not like mine. I have many friends that have been members for decades and they all feel the same as I do. I highly recommend them and am grateful for the years of service they have provided. Oh, I do have two complaints. I miss the baskets of hard candy that were a fixture there and those big yellow triangular pens that they had. My advice? Forgive them for that and become a member. read more

Poor customer service, and different people with the bank stating different things. Now they are placing a 15k policy on a trailer that is never going to be moved, claiming that my policy that is less then 1/10th the price does not cover as stated. Had I known that they had such low ratings, I would never have allowed the loan to be place with them. They are dishonest company. read more

I've been a member for 20 years and have only had good experiences with them. When I was 19 or 20 and had no credit, they educated me and helped me build it. First I had a secured card then that turned into a credit card. Because of their advice, I have always paid credit cards in full and have avoided paying the any interest. They helped me finance my first car. Then they helped me refinance it when it needed over 3,000 in repairs. I recently took out a HELOC with them and when I was comparing theirs with a couple of other options I was surprised to see the bad reviews and wondered if things changed, but I also noticed every credit union I looked similar. It sounds like some of the bad experiences were because of details written into the terms of a loan that they didn't understand. I think if you ask enough questions, or just tell them you don't know what to ask but want advice on how to avoid bad experiences, you can avoid those kinds of misunderstandings. They have always helped me understand what I was signing and what to expect whenever I've asked. I've worked with other lenders that were not so helpful and had bad experiences with them, so I think that makes quite a difference. Maybe I've just had a fantastic streak of luck with them over the years, but I doubt that's it. I'll update if something bad happens this time, but I wouldn't be scared off by the bad reviews. My only complaint is that they don't have any branches north of Keizer. read more

I have had my car loan with them since I bought my car 3 or 4 years ago. Usually they sere great. I don't know what happened, but something did (new ownership/new management) I always pay my loan payment ahead of time ALWAYS. I went in to the website last night and it was not working right, could not have my account pop up, so then I called today to see what was going on. OMG can you say RUN A ROUND. I called 2 times, I explained what was going on and instead of just taking my payment over the phone they said it would cost me 18.95 (Are you kidding me?) for their error, their website. I explained I always transfer my payment from my local bank to them ( I DONT BANK THERE) and someone somehow deleted my local Arvest information and no one there would add it back. It's not hard, just fix what they messed up. Still nothing. Instead, they told me to go to the local branch near me, write a check (do people even use checks any more?) or cash and go pay it at a local location. Well sure I can do this so they do screw up my account anymore than they have, but why didn't they just take the payment over the phone and then deal with their web people. Why am I being inconvenienced for their error? Why wouldn't they just add my Arvest account back. When I had them do this initially it took less than 5 minutes. I am so disappointment. This was the worst experience in my time being with them. I hope that the manager sees this review and steps in to get this taken care of. read more

Bank started sliding downhill several years ago when they upgraded their phone system and it has only gotten worse followed by shady business practices they did last year on a Heloc loan I did and blatantly lied about the payment and soon after it closed the loan manager person quit and now in 2026 when you call it says they have upgraded their phone for "our convenience" which is backwards because I could not get a person to help me with a question of a recent payment who just put me on hold to some Michael dude pickup and start over who then put me on hold and did the same thing, he put me back in to the call que and some woman picked up that I could not understand her name, maybe Asian?, Mexican? I really dont know but this is what we members who supposedly own this bank? get. Shame on you people who not to long ago advertised "OCCU the nice place". what a shame! When you bank with OCCU, car loans are easy, mortgages quick and the community is supported through various causes. Are you just learning to manage, budget and save? This is the place for you. What could improve? Use the damn mailing address you have listed instead of the street address. I rent a post office box so that my mail will not be delivered to my home address. My home mailbox is in a row of them on a well traveled street in a town where mail theft is frequent. I was not happy to find my tax statement in my street mailbox instead of my post office box. I was assured that the problem was being fixed. Fast forward. In the past five days I have received another four pieces of mail from OCCU in the street mailbox. Two are the same notice, along with the full account number. The notices are information change verifications. They say I recently updated my mailing address. It lists the same post office box address I have listed there since 2006, not exactly recent. The other two pieces are both the same February statement, which is lacking most of my accounts. It only lists two Cds. It doesn't show my checking, savings, money market, ignite savings, regular savings, and three other CD accounts. Unprofessional and unacceptable. read more

Horrible. Paid of my account in 2019 which they added over $200.00 in interest ( never sending me a statement.) Had to pay it anyway and requested to close account. Now it's 2025 and they mail me a letter saying they are going to start giving me penalties. On the phone now closing all accounts that should have been closed years ago. This is ridiculous! You get penalties due to their lack of follow up, organization and customer service!! Terrible!!!! read more

Company makes it extremely difficult to pay off loans. You are not allowed to pay off a lone early, even if you call or go into branch. For those who actually read reviews. The OCCU is NOT worth the effort. Choose a different company. They will NOT communicate with you, but they will get your money. This company is not a good company. They will claim anything they can to get an extra buck out of you. When you call them, there's never a manager nor do they help in any way, unless is money. So as pleased as I am with the auto loan that I got for a truck is purchased from Corwin ford at the end of March. I am extremely disappointed in the fact that I was told they do not share my phone number and such with 3rd party. Between occu and the dealership that I got the vehicle from i have been spammed called daily for a vehicle warranty extention and I have told that place to remove my number do not call and so forth. The caller always comes back to well we got the information from the dealer or the finance company. I am extremely disappointed. I understand most extended warranty companies are fishing but this is ridiculous. I had no issues until I bought thr truck. And the warranty place is very specific to the vehicle I bought. read more

In order to get a home loan through OCCU in Eugene, OR and I was told I HAD TO (no option) open a savings account with the bank and put $5 or $10 in the account before I could secure the loan. I was reassured that this was all I had to do. 5 years later I am now being charged dormant account fees every month. When I called to find out why I was on hold for 30 minutes, explained what happened, put on hold for another 5 minutes to sort it out, only to be told sorry that's just how it is. Given the interest rate I secured at the time it makes no sense to take my business elsewhere, yet I have tied to a company that is now gouging me for following their requirements. On Point doesn't do this. Never again with OCCU. Its a small amount of money but it will be ongoing. And honestly for me, its the principle of the matter that bothers me the most. Doing business with a bank is about trust and I have none for OCCU. read more

So a simple transaction of paying off an auto loan over the phone, becomes an aggravating experience. Stay away from this credit union. This is the most inept thinking credit Union I have ever dealt with. So let me ask if this makes any sense, I'm behind in my payments so they suspended my online account. I work 12 hr days ending my day 2 hours after OCCU closes. I've sat on my 30 min lunch break and finally hung up after being on hold for 27 min. Without one agent answering my call. So no one will answer the phones during business hours, they suspend online access as punishment hindering customers from making convenient online payments and are unwilling to work with their customers on any level and even will mock them at times. They will suggest all these options with none of them being viable like lowering my payment on a vehicle I've had for 5 yrs. Already and am still paying the payment of the original amount . Refusing to refinance without putting over $2500 down makes zero sense and is bad practice. I had many options when I purchased this vehicle only to be dissatisfied and disappointed time and time again. I regret ever financing my vehicle through this company. We have another vehicle financed through WSECU and they do not do the nasty tactics that OCCU has did to me. I guess next time I'll know better read more

I was placed in telephone queues (no. 44) when I finally got through the person answering the phone couldn't help me. She wanted me to travel 2 hours to an office, present myself with two pieces of ID. I was asking for a payoff on the truck loan. In the he next phone queue I was placed in I was no. 19. I have been banking with OCCU for years. They have absolutely gone completely downhill. As I write this review, I'm sitting on hold TRYING to make a credit card payment through telephone call. They have redesigned their cardservices website such that it's literally impossible to make a payment online. This has been the case for several days now. I've never worked with a bank that didn't allow for transactions to be made on their website while they were redesigning their website. I contacted the bank through their help/contact us link and here was their response: "We will be adding more card management functionality over the coming days, such as payments, alerts and many other great features. In the meantime, you can call Cardholder Services to check your balance and make a payment on your OCCU credit card. I have included the phone numbers below." The accounts are also managed by a third-party vender call center that must handle several other banks. It's just a nightmare. The call center folks are like talking to robots. A few other reasons to never use this bank: -If you card is flagged for fraud they block is as any bank should. The problem here is that they require you to call an 800 number if it's flagged (that call center again). This is a major inconvenience when the algorithm mistakenly flags your card and you're travelling. Other banks simply give you an online option to verify a potentially fraudulent charge, usually through a text or an email. OCCU requires you to sit on hold for 20 minutes, talk to a robot, answer a bunch of security questions, get transferred again, wait on hold for another 10-15 min to speak to a "security specialist", go through another set of security questions and then get someone to finally resolve the issue after going through the last 10-15 transaction. It's ridiculous. -The "contact us with any issues" link on the website is ridiculous. They literally respond and request that you call their third-party call center. -It's impossible to get someone local to speak with. The bank does everything it can to route you to an operator that is clearly not affiliated with the actual credit union. Again, the third-party call center. Other reviews are correct is their assessment that their customer service is just absolutely awful. It didn't used to be this bad, but someone decided that farming out everything to a third-party call center was best for the bank. After being a customer of OCCU for 2 decades now I'm closing all my accounts soon. read more

After refinancing my mortgage 2 years ago, my mortgage was immediately shuffled to dovenmuehle for servicing. After 2 years, there is no way for me to access my account online. I don't receive monthly statements because i signed up for paperless. So LOL, don't know WTF is going on with my mortgage. An IT ticket was created and it's ridiculous to sit on the phone with them to try and figure out and they can't even set it up themselves. Archaic, forever hold time. I get that mortgages are sold but just go look at dovenmuehle's ratings. I just sent new insurance and am holding my breath because I've already seen horror stories. Checking/savings account service with OCCU is fine. My mortgage is my priority though, this the low score. read more

Had a car loan through these guys. They kept trying to charge my account after my loan was paid off. I went in after the first time to close the accounts and shut down the payments. Got charged again afterwards and was told I still needed to manually shut down the automatic payments, even though I was told that had already been done. They said that they use a third party for their payments. If that was true, which it seems to be, why tell me that the payments were already shut down? I've had better treatment from Bank of America, which says a lot. read more

I recently used them for a loan for my 2019 Keystone RV. I paid it off in roughly 6-7 payments. I had thought customer service was awesome then I get a statement in the mail where the bagged me an additional $250.00 for Rate discount noncompliance. I called and it was explained to me that since I never signed up for E satements they charged me this BS fee. When I signed up for the loan I went into the 13th street branch and sat down with them and went over all the paperwork and explained that I never want E statements that I prefer the face to face customer service. I was told no problem. No additional fees. I was lied to. Walk do not run away from this type of service. My name is Bob Tessmer and I will be at your branch tomorrow morning to close out my accounts. I am of a generation that maintains excellent credit and I have honesty and integrity. Unfortunately my experience with OCCU has been a very stressful, full of OCCU mistakes that I have had to pay for. First I want to start off with saying when I bought my new vehicle the financing, insurance for the vehicle, auto pay set up with my bank,and full extended warranty we're all completed at the Dealership. First payment to start in three months.not long after purchase I received confirmation via email and I noticed they had transposed the numbers on my address I notified the dealership 1 month after our purchase I received a notification by mail that I was being fined $250 for not setting up a online account in a timely manner. 2 months after purchase I received a letter saying I would be charged if I didn't submit insurance information for the purchase 3 months after purchase I received a letter saying the bank account number submitted was non existent I called and was charged $15 for making a payment over the phone I complained and then received a disturbing call from the bank rep made me feel bad for complaining and questioned me about my purchase. Then I just received payment coupons pre printed for the next 6 months Would definitely not recommend this financial institution read more

Customer service at this institution is lacking. Two weeks after paying off a loan, and expedited delivery of a title was requested, the title has not been delivered. Customer service declined to be involved, saying that department will act in seven to ten days. That timeframe has expired. As a customer you will notice the complete lack of available help and accessibility of to customer service when calling in. Usually the response states " you are 20+- in line ". My car loan and insurance have been paid on time but they sent a threatening letter demanding proof of insurance. They threatened to charge me for a policy that I have already paid for. I've been a long time member with OCCU. Not sure what happened, but they seem to operate more as a bank than a credit union now days. Their rates are substantially higher than ALL other credit unions. I have also have had a credit card with them for more than two years. The update they did 3-4 months ago makes it so I can no longer pay my credit card balance with my other bank account. I now have to transfer money to OCCU(this takes 3 business days to process), then i am able to login to pay the balance. I complained and they said they would have the issue resolved. Nothing has happened. To top it off their app is horrendous. It forgets my information half the time I login and is difficult to use. I would have recommended OCCU over other banks years ago, I can't say the same now. Hopefully they become more customer service based. read more

Been a member since early 1980s. My parents have been members since mid 1970s. Every time I call & want to transfer some money to my parents account they want my mother's maiden name, then they want my dad's date of birth, then they want to know the last deposit into my account (but auto deposits don't count!). I can't remember every single deposit to my account! They treat me like a total stranger every time. My wife's SELCO people are much better to work with. You really need to work on your connection skills to long term customers-very poor phone manners. I spoke to a "Rita" recently, but others have been similarly ill mannered. read more

The most frustrating process I have ever been though for an auto loan. They have charged me for not having insurance on my car. while I had insurance on my car. I called them and provided proof of coverage during that time, and they said that there was nothing they could do to reverse the charges. Next: The online platform is an uncharitable labyrinth. I set up auto pay with my bank and it does not give you the option to make a direct payment. I had monthly payments going into the "savings" account but not into my loan. I have to wait for my auto payment to go through and then go online and transfer from my savings to my loan... Next, I tried to fix this, and they started charging my other bank account. Fix right? Nope not at OCCU, they pulled from both of my accounts this month. So now I am paying double monthly car payments because their website was built during the DOT com boom and hasn't been updated since 1992. I will be refinancing with literally any other institution asap. Worst mistake I could have possibly made when choosing a financial institution. I think a loan shark would have been a more painless process. DO NOT USE THIS BANK FOR A LOAN! read more

Extremely poor service. I called their customer service line and after being on hold for a very long time, the call was terminated (not by me). This happened 3 times!!! When I finally spoke to a representative, they couldn't pull up my loan payoff statement and it was paid off 10 days ago. When I asked to speak with their manager, the line was again terminated.
