This place has really gone downhill. The staff is rude. The employees over talk you and won't answer basic questions. I tried applying for an auto loan and they wouldn't even let me talk to a loan representative. The person I talked to kept giving me wrong information and when I finally talked to the loan rep, she was mad I listened to the other employee. These guys made buying a car a nightmare. read more

The tellers are all quite nice though this is the absolute slowest bank I have ever been to and it has been that way at least since I've been a member which is for over a decade, though I believe they are getting even slower. Granted I'm from NY, and I can tell you people in NY would have gotten most all these people fired a long time ago because of the pace they work at. The phone system if you need to call it often has over 40 people ahead of you in the queue. I still find it more pleasant than a larger bank though I complain about it to myself two thirds of the time I need to go in there. Maybe if they had rubber fatigue mats it would be doable but they haven't been willing to do that so far. I feel worse for the elderly people who have to go in there. read more

beware if you do any business with oregon community credit union...read any and all the fine print..they along with selco credit union hide that fine print to take advantage of you the member.....i opened a cd up and needed the money for an emergency...but they wanted 7% of my principle....to close it early... run....anywhere else is an improvement.......yeah they are nice while turning the screws to you the little guy....beware and good luck read more

This rating is for the OCCU Member Services Department at the OCCU Headquarters on Chad Dr. in Eugene, OR. When my account went in the negative numbers last week, they removed the penalty and performed a Member Loyalty Fee Reversal. That is the first time, in my financial life, that has ever happened. This has been a tumultuous time and you have no idea how gracious that transaction by OCCU was to me. Fortunately, I got paid direct deposit the very next day, but the looming fear of a ding on my excellent credit rating and the humility I felt was relieved when I received the email from the OCCU Member Services Department stating that OCCU was giving me a Member Loyalty Fee Reversal. OCCU exemplifies exactly what a credit union does for its members. read more

For those who don't know, OCCU is collapsing right now, there are a ton of reviews talking about it, my situation is not unique STAY AWAY. Their automated system that had paid my bills for years suddenly stopped paying them, almost damaging my credit, for no fault of my own. My new card cannot be activated, despite repeated attempts. Their website does not work no matter how many hours I work at it or agents I speak with, their representatives do not answer many questions, when their agents do answer questions, sometimes their answers are demonstrably incorrect, their agent explicitly told me they were blocked from accessing their own desk system in their own department. Some actions their system takes are invisible to the user, impossible to manage. Other actions the user can take, but are invisible to the agents! OCCU used to be alright, but right now it is horrible. read more

This used to be a true peoples bank - I have been with them for 17 years and always had great service. I never had any loans, but it was always a place where you could get good savings rates without any "game playing". In the last year I have definitely noticed a "seed change" in how this company does business. The first thing I noticed was my son's savings account was emptied out and I got ZERO customer service, when I asked them why someone electronically access a savings account in the first place (that is why we have one), they said they could not block electronic withdrawals. The second thing I noticed was their scam savings accounts, they have several levels, and in order to insure you are getting interest you need to watch it like a hawk, the third thing (and final one) was they automatically rolled over a CD to a 2% CD and I could not move the money without calling them, when I did, they said "you are still in the ten day grace period" to waive penalties, I then asked them what the penalties were, to which they replied, "one years interest", to which I said, "CYA OCCU" and hung up the phone. My savings accounts were just transferred to Schwab. Don't bother - this company is being run by a bunch of Shysters. read more

Due to a recent death in the family, we are going through the process of closing out accounts. We have tried to closeout the OCCU account using multiple methods and attempts. We have had to fax (who faxes these days?) documentation to multiple numbers to no avail. It is a constant run around. Despite being notified of the death in December we continue to incur fees on a "delinquent account". They will not send a bill as we are not the official account holder despite being executor of the estate. No one can answer the questions or give directions on the process. They never return calls. OCCU needs to do better. read more

What happened to OCCU? They were once the defacto place to partner up with for local finical needs. No more, OCCU is rotten from the fruit to the root. The client care staff is incredibly incompetent and rude, so rude that I am closing my last account after many years. The complete and utter incompetence of this entire company and what I have experienced in the last 2 years boggles the mind. It's as if the entire employee base from the top management down to anyone you have to conduct a transaction with has changed in the last 24 months. I could go on and on about the multitude of bad experiences i've had here but I'm not going to write a book. Just know this: OCCU is not the company they have been in the past. The great service that once made this the jewel of the Eugene / Springfield area are long gone. Rude employees, incompetent mistakes and an over all a culture shift to a team that does not care about the clients who make each one of their paychecks possible is now the norm. The lack of accountability from not only the day to day operations but the day to day client interactions is not the way to run a locally sustainable company. There is no accountability here for anyone period. If your expectation is to be able to contact a branch, don't expect that. If your expectation is to have a client care team that is competent enough to assist you on the phone, don't expect that. If your expectation is to have problems solved, expect that interacting with them in the process will compound the issue(s) and make them far worse. Ultimately, to solve the most basic issue you will need to walk into a branch and speak with a manager who will begrudgingly login to their PC and fix the issue. You will be left asking yourself "why could this not be resolved on the phone?' One by one as the culture of incompetents at OCCU has shifted, I too have shifted my finances elsewhere to other locally sustainable companies. Point in fact there are options other than to this corporatized sterile "don't care about the client" culture that now fills the halls at OCCU. If you're foolish enough to conduct business with OCCU after reading this review then you will get what you deserve. There's a reason OCCU's Better Business Bureau rating is one star. Caution thieves here. There should be a lower rating for a business like this. They actually stole $250 from us. And they demanded to have us send them insurance forms that they already had then threatened us to purchase the most expensive insurance and bill it to us even though our insurance has never lapsed we had the same ins. company for over 35 years. The people were very rude and tried to use threats every time we talked. WE had to refinance to get away from them and wound up with a much better interest rate. They are thieves so stay away or leave before they are finally arrested and closed for good!! Can't rate this credit union low enough to describe the service!! read more

I have been a customer for 3+ years and have always had positive experiences with this branch and OCCU in general, which is not something I can say about other credit unions or banks I've been with. pretty lousy credit union. their loans are easy to get approved for since they been trying to expand however poor online system and they love to erroneously call and leave no messages 1 minute before their telephone system goes down and tell you they are closed for the evening and to call back during business hours. if I had to do all over again I would have paid for the higher interest rate at the local credit union then go with occu. read more

I love OCCU but have had terrible customer service experience at this branch. The last time I came in, the woman who was working the drive through banking was incredibly rude. I didn't see signs for no U-turn, which is totally my bad, but the way she addressed me when I pulled up and when I left was almost juvenile. Ranks among the most unfriendly customer service I've ever received. I think it's only fair to be treated and corrected with respect, especially if the person being so hostile toward you is then proceeding to look at something as personal your finances. Bottom line, I don't think someone should feel like an idiot for making a mistake like U-turning, and the management at this branch needs to ensure they train their staff on proper etiquette and people skills. Also, last time I ordered checks at this location, they sent it to an address I had on file three moves prior to my current location...how does that happen? Wow, some of the negative reviews are puzzling to me. Each time I have been in the CU all the staff have been very friendly and helpful, which at times required patience on their part as I am not always ready to deal with my transactions. Recently received a car loan from a young man named Dakota and could not have possibly been treated better. I had to call him several times to ask him about things like "CDDL" etc. and he was very responsive and helpful. Even helped me while I was at the dealership in Portland. I wonder if sometimes service isn't a mirror of attitude given as there have been times when in line I have to admire the teller's response to some very negative attitudes directed at them when they didn't create the issue. read more

Employees are more concerned about nit picking a customers actions whether in line or the drive thru than they are about giving consistently good customer service. Last weekend I went to a drive-thru lane marked "Open" and sat for five minutes without anyone coming to the window. As I had sent the deposit through the tube, I decided to leave, assuming they would make the deposit. Later that day I checked my account and the deposit was not showing up. I called and got a lecture about driving away. When the deposit finally went in, I noticed they hadn't deposited the few coins I gave them. The total amount is not enough to make a fuss over (12 cents!), but it's a hassle to re-balance my checkbook to account for their mistake - not to mention making a second call, waiting on hold, waiting for them to investigate, and then being told someone would "reach out" to me later on to let me know if they could locate the coins. This is actually the second time this has happened; last time I didn't follow up. Two stars for the free checking and semi-convenient location; zero stars for accurate deposits and customer service. If it were easier to switch banks, I would have done so years ago. read more

I love this bank. We do most of our personal and business banking here for a long time now. We go through the drive thru probably 3-4 times a week. Last week on Thursday morning (Sept. 3) at about 10:15 we went through and were treated very badly by an employee we've never seen there before. She made faces at us, was impatient and very curt with us and then didn't even put our money in the account we had asked her to. We had to change it online when we got home. We spent the next 15 minutes (too long) wondering what it was about us this woman didn't like very much. Ruined those moments of the morning. Unfortunately we will see her again as it is our bank, in our community. If it happens again we're gonna ask to see the bank management. read more

I am a customer with OCCU since almost 5 years.When recently inquiring about a loan one of my first quesions was whether there are any additional fees involved. The customer service rep assured me that there are no additional fees for this loan...50 minutes into the application process she told me about an additional fee of $77.00 dollars that I would have to pay...I felt lured into a loan by not telling me the fine print up front- although i had specifically asked! I got up and asked to speak to the supervisor. But the CSR went in her office first to tell her version of the story. So, in addition to having wasted 50 minutes of my time I needed to wait now 'til she had told her story... Both my complaints with the supervisor and online were disregarded while the employees were defended as having done everything right...no apologies...nothing!!!...I am looking for another credit union! read more

We tried using them for 4 years through dismal and incompetent service. Today when I checked the balance in our checking, there were transactions missing that had been there the day before and thousands of dollars was missing. OCCU slapped a processing error message on their website. We made multiple phone calls. Lorena refused us phone access to our account and was very nasty. She told my husband we had to go into the branch during a pandemic to fix the errors made by OCCU. The fix involved OCCU employees manually inputting transactions back into our account The inept employee duplicated our deposit during their incompetent fix and changed the description from a government deposit to a transfer with my name. WTH??? We waited in line with 12 others at So Eugene. I think they had a security breach and are trying to cover it up. We are in the process of transitioning back to a big bank. If you still have your money sitting at Wells Fargo or Bank of America, please run to your nearest OCCU and open an account. The service here is always 1st class, no matter what I'm in for. The online banking is much better than the big corporation banks I've experienced, and the fees are almost non-existent. PLEASE, I beg of you, go in, pick up a free pen and some hard candy from the kiosk, and transfer you hard earned cash to these extremely nice people. read more

For the second time now, I've had money disappear during an online transfer between my savings and checking account. The money left the savings account and while the page showed that it moved to checking, the available balance never changed. When I go to the bank to inquire, their computer page has different numbers on it than the page that comes up on my computer at home. While I like everything else about OCCU, I recommend that you do not use their online services, there's an expensive glitch in there somewhere. read more

I have been a member since 2002 but just for savings and auto loans. Today I went in to this branch for the first time to get a checking account. Everything went really smooth. My wife and I came to this branch to open a mutual account. The rep informed us they couldn't help us and we could apply online because they were closing in 20 minutes. The person who sets up the new accounts was just hanging out in his office. It was apparent he didn't want to stay past closing even though we had a very large amount to deposit in the account which they were informed of. Sadly I have had others inform me they have had a similiar experience with this bank. Won't be banking with them strictly due to their lack in customer service and caring about customers. read more

I had the same experience with this bank as Amber S. But, the experience has been worse. Went in the bank to open a joint account with my husband. Customers service was substandard. If I could give it a zero I would! They gave my husband a temporary atm card and told me I would have to come back to get mine the following day. Came back to get it and was told I would have to wait to get it for another 5 weeks. Really! Asked to speak to a manger? They were rude!!! Made me wait for 20 minutes, while they verified what?Had already given them all my money,paper work and been verified! What it came down to was the long line; they didn't want to do the work!! It was the end of the day . Really are they just that lazy. Again it's been 8 weeks since opening up account and have only received 1permanent atm card. Have not received the other. They would not verify if they even sent the card out. Phone service also terrible. They have a real problem with security with this bank. Don't put your money in this bank. Going to take money elsewhere. Not worth the hassle or headache. Go elsewhere. Manager here does not care !! Response to Amber .S. does not surprise me. Poor customer service!! OCCU used to be a decent place to keep your money, particularly the branch on Mohawk. now customer service has completely crashed. i was depending on the employees to simplify my complicated accounting situation by not allowing overcharges on an account. i will not go into more detail. but the employee i was speaking with failed to complete my request despite telling me that it was possible, and they could do it for me. they told me verbatim that the account will no longer have a credit line, and that i will not have to worry about overdraft fees. this would mean any charges would come through the mail from the entity charging me, but this branch failed me. i will be taking my business to SELCO community credit union now. (edit) so i go in and they want over $100 for a credit line older than my shoes, when i closed the account attached to the credit line the employee failed to inform me of an outstanding balance. the only thing the credit line was for was the card that was cancelled! they literally sat on a bill i had no clue about until i owed around $100 in late fees, on a simple $20 credit line balance. why did they not tell me when i closed to account!? bad service thats how. the assistant manager there did wave a portion of the fees, and for that i bump the rating up. but it was still over $70 out of pocket! for a credit line i assumed was cancelled with the account it was on! i literally had the money to pay it the day i closed the account but they did not even tell me about it! read more

this is a warning--if you have an IRA w/ OCCU beware--ck your monthly statements, I have found egregious errors--including NOT RECEIVING INTEREST FOR 2 YEARS on an IRA account! I dont trust their accounting and neither should you--many more errrors in calculating interest, for CD's as well as IRA accounts. read more

Call center employees sound complacent and tired... not very excited to help. When calling for assistance out of the area to pay a bill, I explained that I would just like to pay it over the phone. Rather than proceed with the transaction she explained there would be a $15 fee to do so, I replied that was fine I just wanted to get it paid. She then stated there were affiliated branches I could go to to not pay the fee, I explained I just wanted to get it paid and know it was paid. She then asked for my member #, then the password on my account... Totally understandable! Then the year my loan was issued... The make of the car the loan was for... The insurance company I had when the loan was issued... and to top it off my drivers license number! I'm making a payment... giving you $$$$ hello! After all was completed, I had additional questions & by the tone of her voice I could just see the eyes rolling... not to mention the likely facial expressions for her coworkers in the call center on the other side. When all was said and done, extractions (painfully) complete, thanking her for her help and assistance, she did not even say thank you or have a nice day. All in all, an 8 minute call that could have taken 3-4. I hate to do things by phone, it's impersonal and at times challenging... However, this is someone that can make or break a persons relationship with a business! Customer service at every level should be a top priority. Lets hear that smile over the phone, a love your job or leave it... plenty of individuals waiting for a job out there, willing to give 110% on their worst day for food on the table. Hope she can have a better day, she sure challenged mine and for 10 seconds made me frown. Then I remembered why I closed my account... entitlement plague has hit OCCU. No longer a guarantee of exceptional service, bar seems to be slipping a bit. read more
