This restaurant is mediocre. I visited this place back in November 2022 and again today. For the life of me I could not remember why I told myself to not go back- try a different diner. Well, on my quest for breakfast, this one was the closest to the gym according to Yelp. I figured I would try something different. It must have been the sausage that I ordered last time. Nope, it was not the sausage. As soon as I begun to open the bags, I remembered. This place does not give condiments that routinely go with breakfast.   I ordered the Hearty Breakfast. The taste overall was - okay. Once again, they did not give me butter for my grits. Additionally, they did not add syrup for my French Toast. The grits and the eggs required seasoning. She did, however, give me 6 packets of ketchup; 6 packets of pepper, and 1 packet of salt. It's like she wasn't thinking - just like the waitress that presented my order last time.   My advice to you is, if you order your food to go - stop, inspect it, and then request the routine items that go with your breakfast. They will not be included. The place looks like the average diner that's been around for a few decades. No issues there.   I DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

We came in at 2:15pm on a Tuesday, I was a little worried they would be in a rush to close since they close at 3pm but the waitress sat us down and was very friendly! We ordered off of the vegan menu as well as the conventional menu, all of the food was hot and fresh. They were out of vegan deserts, they said they are delivered every Thursday and are usually sold out by Monday! That's a great sign and gives me a goal to get back there on a weekend. Pretty solid little diner. The service was fast and friendly and the food came out fast, hot, and cooked to order. I got the half order of biscuit and gravy with Crispy bacon on the side and chocolate milk. The biscuit and gravy was decent, but my husband makes his with beef broth instead of just the white gravy, so I'm spoiled as far as Biscuits and gravy goes. The bacon was perfectly crisp. My sister in law ordered the corned beef hash and it was DELICIOUS! Perfectly Crispy and savory. The parking lot is really tight so be careful or you can easily back into someone. Another example of getting 4 stars based on delivering exactly what they are supposed to do. Fresh Fast and Friendly. I love the diner set up and feel here. Menu covers what you would expect. It's not the best diner I have been to, however it looks like it will be one of the best Ocala has. Updated my review: I've been multiple times here now. There are some inconsistencies but overall good. There are so many options for breakfast in Ocala. This place has an excellent location and I drive by it all the time. When breakfast is needed I usually stop here. I have other favorites but this is worth the try. Would like to see breakfast improved just a little on the consistency, quality and plating. Sometimes a little sloppy. For example, my wife ordered scrambled eggs today. The eggs weren't scrambled at all. They were just fried eggs mixed up a little bit and slopped on the plate. Also the coffee tasted horrible today. Had to send that back. These are the inconsistencies that leave me puzzled. Still will probably go again based on location and the friendly staff. read more

I was thinking I was going to go to someplace else for breakfast ( this is Sunday AM on Dec 18th, 2022 ) and then I found out that the only place that was open was Ocala's Downtown Diner .... So at that point I decided to welcome it .. And then ... Upon discovering that the prices were SO reasonable ... I thought... I can give this place MANY chances .., since it's so much cheaper than other breakfast places .., Then I got the bill.... The bill showed me that they are making up for price differences by charging for items that would normally be INCLUDED for that omelette breakfast entree like toast or fruit .... So 99 cents there and 1.50 here .... The prices ended up being the same as every other breakfast eatery. Ocala Downtown Diner... just make your prices like everyone else ( your quality is great ) and that way you don't have to end up with sticker - shocked customers ! read more

This restaurant offers a unique & addicting local condiment: Jose Suarez's "455" "zesty ketchup"--part of an award-winning Ocala-grown brand as seen on "America's New Grill Star". This and other 455 sauces/marinades are generally only available online (except for the mild-type of the "General Purpose" sauce available at Publix). Though I did not take pictures of them, I also recommend their specialty hot dogs. They are uniquely topped and will fill you up. read more

It is an unassuming little diner that appears to always be hopping. It is just very good, satisfying diner food. There was 5 waitresses, and they were all hopping. Never exploring Ocala before until this weekend, I heard about this place thru the owners of a farm sanctuary that I toured. They recommendedand gave us all a vegan menu, which is enticingly full of options, saying this is like the only spot that serves vegan food in Ocala in which I can imagine. When I walked in and observed the patrons, I'm like "whaaa these people are vegans?!" (not saying why I thought this) but turns out, its fit for the omnivores too after I'm given the menu (most likely would have never thought they served vegan food if it wasn't for the people telling me) So anywho, I decided before sitting: vegan buffalo wrap then and a not so chicken philly to-go. For drink I had a hazelnut iced coffee. The 1st serving was ridiculous, I took 3 sips until I was done because most of it was ice. I asked for a refill. After the 3rd refill the waitress THEN tells me "idk if you're ok with it but each refill you get charged". Not cool. She did take 1 refill off the bill. Honestly how it should be because 1. 1st was nothing but ice and 2. you choose to tell me after the fact. Overall the drink was really good lol Another reason for the downfall on rating is the wait. I'm very patient, and noted the place was packed, it was Saturday afterall, and I didn't feel neglected by the waitress (or the manager, he was proactive at checking up on me). But 30 min.until I got my food! Second reason for the rating, the buffalo sandwich wrap was "chicken" strips, daiya cheese, lettuce, tomato, celery, vegan ranch, and buffalo sauce pressed in a wrap. When I took a bite I really wanted ranch on the side to dip. When I asked for it, the waitress says "we're out of ranch". I find that unprofessional to not communicate beforehand,as if you're scared I'm going to be upset and expect me not to find out. Phew I was annoyed. This dish comes with a side of fries. The wrap was not as good as I had expected and deff not worth the wait. My not so philly chicken was served in a soft loaf with "chicken", daiya cheese, onions, grilled peppers, mushrooms, vegan mayo, and a side of steak sauce. This was actually yummy. But when I got home I noticed there was no steak sauce on the side. This also came with fries. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to come back only to try out more of that vegan menu. read more
