Excellent service and human touch..excellent management in every departments I recommend them to everyone. Local comply in Orange County

Quick turnaround with accessing our house and our needs. Everything was taken care of and we didn't have to mess with the city or permits or anything. The only thing I wish is that we would have covered the financing options ahead of time. We ended up buying them outright but we would have gotten our own financing if we had known that the options they offered us wouldn't work for us. Other than that, we recommend them to anyone who wants solar. read more

I'm a roofing contractor and put off getting solar for year's because I have seen the nightmare installs by other companies, I have to tell you these guy's no which end of a screw driver to grab, I watched the install about 20 minutes pleasantly surprised with the workmanship of the roof flashing details " did it the I would have being g a roofer, no damage to the existing shingles, the electrician very precise and clean, whole install fast efficient, crew worked like warrior's until the Intall was completed, all were gentleman. Thank you OC Solar for keeping a higher standard. read more

I cannot recommend Orange County solar. I hope I am just the outlier, but reading some of the other poor reviews, we seem to have had somewhat similar experiences. TL;DR: We had issues at almost every step of our installation (and after) including multiple failed inspections, multiple roof leaks with water damage in our baby room, electrical issues, and incorrect components installed. Combined all that with a project manager who was not on the same page as her crews, and we had a pretty bad experience. I am giving two stars because after one of our first electrical issues, they did offer to pay one month of our electric bill. However, the issues only continued from there. Long Version: We contracted with OC Solar in late June 2021. The sales person was great, as was the quote, and I felt good seeing the reviews on Yelp. We have a tile roof. This makes installation more difficult than standard composite. However, after inspection I was assured they would have no issues installing the panels. In September, installation began. First stop was the new electric panel since we needed an upgrade to handle the solar and a new 220 volt outlet. We were told the installation would take a few hours but that we should plan for 6-8 just in case. The installation of the main panel took a week, and several times after it was mounted into our wall we were left with no power; sometimes total power, and sometimes random areas of the house. My wife and I work from home so this was a pretty severe inconvenience. They also installed the wrong size panel (we ordered a 200A panel, and they installed a 225A, this will come into play later with inspections). After multiple emails and calls with my project manager, who never seemed to know who was at our house, they agreed to pay one month of my electric bills for my troubles (hence the additional star). Great! No issues from here right? Wrong. Then the team came out to install the actual panels. They were able to get the panels up in 2 days, and with no major issues (or so I thought). We will come back to this later with the roof leaks. They did drill through our bedroom ceiling, but they said they sealed it up top so I should have no issues. In October the inspections started. Turns out the electrical panel, even after all our issues, was not done. They did not install the correct water bond, and as mentioned earlier since we had the wrong panel compared to the permit, we failed there too. It took another week to fix the corrections. Then it was time for the lathe inspection. They failed that one too. Not enough chicken wire coverage, and exposed wires. Another week later they made those corrections. During this whole ordeal, there was very little coordination about what had to be done between my project manager and the crews. I had to get copies of all the inspection reports from the inspector so that I could make sure whichever team my project manager sent out knew what they were there to do. Finally, they were able to close up the wall and it was time for a "final" inspection. Well the power disconnect was installed directly over our gas main, which apparently is a potential fire hazard and not correct. So we failed inspection yet again. I asked if I could escalate this to someone in charge because my project manager was not taking action to fix all the errors, but they told me to just keep emailing her / leave messages. After a month of failed and then corrected inspections we were finally "done" and ready to turn on the panels. This went fairly smoothly. However, in late November we had our first rain storm and we noticed discoloration in our baby room ceiling. Turns out when installing the panels, they did not replace any of the broken tiles underneath the panels prior to installing them. So water was getting into our crawl space. The guys who came told me that the roofers who installed my panels were no longer with the company. They went up on the roof, said they found and fixed the issue and I should be good to go. Then another came out to fix the interior of our baby room which now had water damage. All good from here right? Nope... Come December, we have our next bit of rain. What do I see? Another water spot in almost the exact same spot as what they had JUST told me they fixed. We were about to leave for a trip, and I was not happy. During this time, I am calling the office everyday trying to talk to someone in charge. My project manager no longer calls me back, and I ask to talk to Vincent, the owner. He gets on the phone, I start telling him about my experience, and he says that this is not the way my project should have gone, but that he is going to get some answers and call me back. He never did, even after I emailed the office again in mid Jan asking when I should hear from him. Turns out my project manager was also let go. The roof was finally fixed and I have my fingers crossed for the future. So long story short, I cannot recommend OC Solar. read more

I contacted the representative at OC Solar, soon received quotes for several options, selected one, and started the process. Few days after that an OC Solar technician came by to finalize their measurements and currently waiting for permits. So far everything going very smooth. They quickly responded to my request for a quote to add solar batteries and upgraded inverter to my existing solar system. Once I answered their questions they responded within 24 hours with a quote. The quote came out significantly higher than other quotes but they did include Tesla Power Wall 2 while the other vendors didn't. I need to consider if Tesla batteries are worth a 50% higher total cost. read more

OC Solar - Solar Installation Near Me - Irvine, California

I'm a homeowner and real estate investor, and have plenty of experience working with different contractors. I recently completed a project for roof installed solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall battery with OC Solar. I can confidently tell you that the experience was really positive from beginning to end and I'm really pleased with their work and follow up. I evaluated about 6 vendors. In the end I decided on OC Solar because they had Tesla Powerwalls in stock, their warranty was outstanding, and they were local to where I live, which was important to me in case I ever need warranty follow-up. While their price was not the lowest bid I received, they were very competitive, and with the advantages mentioned it was an easy choice and I'm happy with that decision. More details below: 1. Timing: Not on OC Solar, but if you're considering going solar, there are some incentives to getting this done soon. Federal tax credit incentive creates a valuable discount which increases your overall ROI. Also, a favorable SCE Net Metering plan is going to expire in April, so look into that as well. 2. Coordination: The team we worked with was great. Shout out to: Chris Morley for being responsive and flexible on the sales side in initial contract, Elizabeth Haywood our project coordinator who was stellar in getting wrinkles ironed out and keeping things moving, Kelly Cruz the master electrician who was excellent and had the patience to put up with callbacks on stuff that was completely my fault, and Sharon Leatherman who helped us with project closeout, warranty registration, and finalizing the work with the utility (SCE). 3. Timing, again: OC Solar did a great job moving the project along especially with the busy schedule they've likely got right now considering the financial incentives. Bear in mind if you haven't experienced this, it's not a one-day-and-done process. While panel installation may only take a day, battery installation may be separate, inspections and city permitting is another time table, utility inspection is another, and switching metering plans is yet another. You may need a new electrical panel (I didn't) or you may need to chase down SCE to unlock the meter ring (I did). Here's a high level time table of my experience: August 26: Initial contract signing and deposit Early September: Site Survey / Roof Inspection. We have a concrete tile roof but the underlayment needed to be checked to ensure a good install and that we didn't need a new roof first! September 28: Engineering diagram presented for signoff by me. This isn't as technical as it sounds, it's a drawing showing where the panels and electrical boxes are going to go. I wanted changes which sent it back to engineering. October 24: Rooftop Panel Installation Mid-November: Battery Installation After this, we did have an electrician come back and commission the system to get the mobile apps running and monitoring going. Panels were on I was generating electricity and seeing savings at the meter. Then waiting around for final inspections, SCE approval, and switching utility rate plans. Overall really successful project performed without major or unexpected delays. I'm really satisfied with the work and with the outcome, getting the financial ROI I expected. Hope this review helps you in your decision! read more

Ou solar project called for both panels and a Tesla Powerwall. After dealing with three other vendors, we decided to go with OC Solar not only because of their reviews on Yelp, but also because they offer the best estimate for Tier 1 panels, along with the Tesla Powerwall that we wanted. The entire project took approximately six months. However, the length of the time was mostly due to the approval process from our HOA and the city inspectors. On the side of the vendor, OC Solar worked rather quickly. The estimate and the contract came within a day or so, and the initial site inspection occurred within a couple of weeks. After that, the plans were drawn up and submitted within a few weeks. As soon as our HOA approved the plans (which took over a month), OC Solar scheduled the installation. The panels were installed in a single day, while the Powerwall and other wiring components were installed on different days. Even though OC Solar submitted the plans to the HOA, we had to constantly contact our HOA for the approval status. Otherwise, OC Solar took care of practically everything. Kudos to the entire team at OC Solar. Tiffany coordinated the initial planning stages, while Felipe supervised the installation. Now, the PTO process is being taken care of by Brooke. A special shoutout must be given to the techs, Enrique and Abel, both who came on multiple occasions to make sure the installation was done properly. At one point, I asked Enrique if he should be taking a lunch break. He replied that he just had a granola bar and is good to go. That shows the dedication that these guys have to get our solar project completed correctly. There were some challenges when it came to the city inspectors. However, Felipe was finally able to coordinate a meeting between the him (along with his techs), myself, and the city inspectors to push the city's approval through. The system itself works flawlessly. I am able to monitor the system output, the status of the Powerwall, and the power consumption of my house via apps on my phone. There were occasions during the storms or windy conditions where I was a little worried about the solar panels themselves. However, they held up very nicely, since the panels are certified to withstand hurricane force winds. For me, OC Solar provided excellent service and their products are top tier. I would not hesitate in recommending OC Solar to anyone considering a home solar project. read more

I've been considering adding solar to our home for a couple of years. Having heard positive reports on Orange County Solar, I contacted Walter Armendariz in Sales. Walter explained available options and walked me through the contracting process. The contract was finalized after an onsite inspection verified solar panel and inverter placement. Austin Fietsam, OC Solar Customer Service, coordinated with design team activities, and Courtney Ford, OC Solar Senior Project Manager, oversaw pre-installation activities, including coordination with the City of Torrance. Installation was performed by OC Solar's installer, Panasonic Solar; they arranged final signoff by the City of Torrance, and coordinated with Southern California Edison to secure permission to operate. From concept to permission to operate took only six weeks which, I am told, is well below the norm. All activities were conducted in exemplary fashion, and we are now relying mostly on self-generated electricity. Thank you, OC Solar! read more

OC solar was excellent. We appreciate the communication with Jeremy and Ashton. I love our solsr panels and overall a smooth process....

OC Solar is a very efficient company and easy to work with. We wanted to get our project going to be under the NEM 2.0 but also had a vacation planned so we were in a time crunch . I regret signing up with Orange County solar because it felt like they are only responsive prior to getting the deal. Once I paid for the system, customer service was horrible. Below is my detailed experience: I signed up for solar with this company because of the high ratings on Yelp regarding their customer service. Unfortunately that has not been my experience. I signed up for solar in October 2021. At the time of signing, there was an incentive for an EV charger or $500 gift card. Jeremy (head of sales) was the one who sold me the solar panels and sent be the contract to sign. And he told me I didn't have to make the decision for the promo until later. The solar panels were installed late January 2022. During the installation, I asked the technician when will the EV charger get installed and was told that happens after the solar panels are up and running. I emailed Jeremy about the EV charger and didn't get a response back. Once the solar panels were done, I called customer support and spoke to Felipe who told me that info was incorrect. That the EV charger should be installed during installation of the solar panels. He ended up helping me fix the situation after a few calls in the span of about a week. I have to say, Felipe in customer support is very professional and helpful in resolving problems. Jeremy, the head of sales, wasn't as responsive. Aside from an email that never got answered, I had a hard time contacting him on their company line during the month of January. He would be out of the office or busy with other clients. I would leave requests for him to call me back and receive no calls back. Then today I emailed regarding getting a back up battery for black outs and basically was told we already had the conversation and gave me one price for it. After digging in more, Jeremy told me there is a smaller one for a lower price. But no details about the different options. So I get on the phone and spoke to Lisa and told her my frustrations with the lack of customer service. She transfers me over to Jeremy. We ended up getting into an argument. I haven't gotten upset with a company personnel in over a decade. This was the first for me in a very long time. But it grew more and more frustrating because Jeremy wouldn't take any accountability for dropping the ball. He says I should've called his cell phone which is listed as one of the phone numbers in the emails but I've called his company line and left messages for him to return my calls through customer service and sales as well as sent emails that went unanswered. I typically do not call a persons cell phone unless it is an emergency or if it is someone I know personally. Either way, he should've received my messages for a returned call. As for the EV charger, I am still waiting for it to come in and get installed. I am also waiting for the breaker that needs to be installed into the panel. Customer support says they have to order it. As for the battery, I do want to get it. Most likely in a few months since I just paid for the solar panels recently and need time to save up for the batteries. I just wish I didn't have to buy it from Orange County solar. I regret doing business with them. Jeremy says he will make a note on my account and make sure my calls and concerns get addressed more promptly. I hope that is the case but honestly I'm not sure if he is sincere about it because at one point when I brought up my skepticism due to the lack of customer service I've experienced with him up til now, he said in a sarcastic tone, "thanks for your confidence in what I just told you." I wish there was someone else higher up that I can go to but Jeremy is right under the owner and Jeremy says the owner is never there. I really hope customer service improves but I will update in a few months when I buy the back up battery. read more

My solar panels were installed and up and running November 2021. During the installation, there were some minor issues but the OC Solar team corrected the problems quickly. At that time, their sales person had sized the system and assured me that the production target will not be an issue. However, at the end of one year, the production fell short of the target by over 10%. When I reached out to the customer service, I was told there is no production guarantee and I ended up somehow being ignored. I was getting really disappointed and frustrated when out of the blue, the owner Vinnie, proactively reached out to apologize for my case being overlooked due to some technical problems when upgrading their customer service system. He had taken the time to look into my situation and despite not having any contractual obligations, he offered to add panels to ensure I achieve the original contract production target. Jeremy was the PM for the additional panels and he was very professional. He maintained close communication with me throughout and the work was completed quickly and smoothly. Glitches do happen. But OC Solar is a company that is committed to customer service and satisfaction. I am very happy that I selected OC Solar for the work and am fully assured that they will be around for me when I need them in future. Thank you OC Solar team!! read more

We had a good experience with OC Solar from the quote to the installation of our panels. Everything went smoothly getting the quote, permit, city inspection and installation-from explaining how the process worked and providing the quote very quickly to always keeping us up to date every step of the way on the progress of the project, such as status of the permit with the city, etc. They were also very helpful responding quickly to miscellaneous questions that came up. The installers showed up on time and finished the installation of the solar panels in one day. They did a good job of cleaning up when they were done. They also explained how to look at the meter to see if we were utilizing solar energy and how to use the app to monitor energy production and panel status. read more

Relatively few jobs are straightforward. I originally had a quote through OC Solar for a full roof tear-off, re-roof, and solar install. During this period the original roofer transitioned from residential to commercial and this effected the quote in the end. To be fair to OC Solar, roughly six-months expired between the quote and when we were ready to begin. OC Solar was flexible and understanding at all times when rectifying the situation and helped assist finding a good roofer at a fair price. After the roofing delays, the solar job was banged out efficiently but was also a clearly high quality install. I would recommend these guys to family and friends without hesitation. read more

I rarely take the time to post a review, but OC Solar has been so great to work with I had to do so this time. I cannot see how any other company could top their service and quality of work. I had my panels installed two years ago and just added a battery this week. Everyone from sales to customer service, to installation has been a pleasure to work with. They are proactive and get things done (and their pricing is on point!). Curtis, our battery installer, got a two day job done in one all by himself, which was much appreciated, and he did it with a smile. I know there are a lot of solar companies out there to choose from, I remember going through the process, but I don't think you can go wrong with OC Solar. read more

We used EnergySage to find them, but the reality is that we watched them do an installation down the street on our neighbor's house, and it looked really good. They were quick and clean, so we felt confident going with them. Things took a little longer than expected-- they were very busy-- so we missed the 2020 tax credits, but the system was installed and activated in a reasonable amount of time, and it's now earning us credits on our electric bill. Overall, I'm currently very pleased with Orange County Solar. read more

We decided to go with OC solar after careful review and research of different companies, the decision was not taken lightly. the whole process had its ups and downs, mainly due to our city of Diamond Bar taking forever to approve the plan, about 1 and half months. After the plan was approved, the team at OC Solar ran and took care of business. The three man team of Jose, Marcos and Martin, came on time about 7am which they said they would. They took their time to do a final inspection of my roof and finished the job by the end of the day. I had 18 panels installed which was more then enough for us. I was looking to get solar panels installed and operating by the end of 2017 to get my 2017 federal tax credit. I interviewed several vendors the first and second week of November and all of them except for Orange County Solar could not guarantee that it could be done by 12/31/2017. Orange County Solar had the best pricing of the vendors I interviewed and Vincent, the owner, promptly returned my emails about cost, material and plans even over the weekend! I did not get my HOA approval back until 12/08/2017 and today 12/20/2017 I have a completely installed and inspected systems running! The Orange County Solar crew did a fantastic job and their attention to detail was superb. I could not be happier. I have never written any Yelp reviews (I always have been a passive reader). But they did such a great job I had to give credit where credit is due. If I could I would give them 6 star since they delivered what said and when the said it would be done and did a fantastic job. Vincent is very personable and knowledgeable about the solar industry and kudos to him on his work effort and attention to detail. If you are thinking about getting Solar in Orange County you should put him on your list of prospective vendors you interview. read more

I recently had my 7.38KW system completed with OC Solar and overall it was a good experience and I would definitely recommend them to others. The install came out looking great and I'm very happy with the final results of the work. One thing to note, as you move through the process with OC Solar, you get passed from department to department, and sometimes the availability and communication was better than others. There were definitely some highlights, Jesse Raymond was fantastic and always available, Melissa and Elizabeth did a great job with updates as well. On the flip side, Chris the sales guy was terrible, once the contract was signed, he was completely MIA. I couldn't get ahold of him at all, there were a couple change orders that needed to be processed so the job could continue moving forward and he wouldn't reply and took forever to send them out. Communication fell off with the first Project Manager, Robbin, as well. It seems there might have been some turnover or staffing changes around that time though, as it was passed to another PM and improved. Like I mentioned, very happy with the end product and would definitely recommend OC Solar to others. read more
