We went under the muscle with gummy implants, and the results are flawless. From start to finish, Dr. K has been amazing. He answers every single question I have -- whether it's over text, FaceTime, or in person. If I want to stop by the office, he gets me in right away. His bedside manner is unmatched, and I've felt 100% comfortable and cared for every step of the way. I had a consultation with a "famous" Instagram surgeon before choosing Dr. K, and honestly, there's no comparison. Dr. K's skill, attention to detail, and genuine care for his patients are what really matter -- not Instagram followers. I've already told all my friends they need to go to him. I'd…read morelike to start by saying that the office staff was always very kind. 360 TUMMY TUCK: 7/10 For the most part, I am still very happy with the tummy tuck procedure. I did have a complicated recovery with necrosis of the belly button, but you would not be able to tell now. My scars are alright, I've definitely seen much better... but I tattooed over mine anyway so it didn't matter much to me. However, during the consultation I made it a huge point that there was a part of my lower back that I was very unhappy with. Dr K documented and explained that it would be lipo'd and he would excise it if necessary. I have a scar in the area, but it looks like it wasn't touched AT ALL. Definitely no lipo in the area, just a normal tummy tuck scar, but it doesn't go all the way under the area of concern. So it looks like he left it untouched. When I brought this up at my several post op appointments, he told me to wait a year. After a year, he brushed it off. I am now left with this incredibly awkward small lump right above my butt crack that has left me incredibly insecure. BREAST IMPLANTS AND NIPPLE LIFT: 1/10 I already had breast tissue (about a 36 C) but deflated after weight loss. I really wanted to fill them back up and make them perky again. Because of how deflated they were, I was expecting to get a breast lift, which other surgeons also mentioned to me. During the consultation, Dr K was very adamant that he would NOT do a lift, because I was in my early 20's. His reasoning was that they would need to be redone after I had kids... so I told him that I do not plan to have children. He told me that I might change my mind - which is absolutely NOT for him to decide or even have a say in. He told me he could do a nipple lift on my right side and it would make them look even and perky without the lift. I trusted him. My nipple is now OVAL ladies. OVAL. Completely mismatched. Extremely embarrassing. I also have had rippling, it feels like the implants are underfilled. I can literally crunch the bags and you can see it. When I lay down, they go to the side completely and my chest is flat. When I bend forward, they droop and look absolutely disgusting. I was also very concerned about the left breasts shifting so much to the side when I work out, that it completely deforms and pulls the bag. He told me "you can't work out your chest." This was a YEAR after surgery. He literally said I cannot work out, and that was the answer. Six years later and I have extremely heavy, sagging implants that are weighing my chest down. My nipples fall over the crease of my breast, and it's extremely uncomfortable and they've made me feel so embarrassed. I am now having to save money to get the lift that I should have gotten 6 years ago, and hoping that another doctor can fix my nipple and the underlying damage. I will never get these past 6 years back (and the next few years that I spend saving up.) So I hope this saves someone else.

Then I had another issue 2 years later with a hoarse voice and remembered that Dr Ge is an ear, nose and throat dr, so I knew I had to come back to him. From the initial appointment, Dr Ge was able to provide me with a diagnosis and scheduled me a surgery to remove a polyp in my vocal chord (didn't even knew that could happen prior to speaking with Dr Ge). Was some great information and sure enough went through the surgery and everything came out perfect, my voice was back to 100% and Dr Ge was able to walk me through the procedure in the follow up appointment. Really great dr who can provide you with insightful information and does not hide anything. A wonderful surgeon who is able to take care of business, all while Covid was happening. I am thankful for Dr Ge, as he taught me a lot as well as healed my voice. Really appreciate him and his staff, definitely recommend anyone who is dealing with any nose, throat, or ear issues to go to this Dr, you will not be disappointed! Thanks again Doc!

My experience with Dr. Ge was one of the most frustrating and ethically questionable medical…read moreencounters I've ever had. My appointment took place in March 2026, when I saw him for vertigo. The visit lasted no more than eight minutes, and he never examined my ears -- yet my insurance was later billed for "surgical services," which absolutely never occurred. When my Explanation of Benefits finally arrived, the issues were glaring: * I was billed for a 30-40 minute visit, despite the appointment being under 10 minutes. * My insurance was charged for procedures that were never performed. * The incorrect billing items conveniently totaled just over the $200 I had been required to pay upfront. I immediately called the office and asked for clarification on every CPT code listed. After repeated calls in April, May, and June, they eventually removed the charge for the nonexistent "surgical services." At one point, they even called to tell me they were "waiving" the $40‑something dollars I was supposedly overcharged -- before I had even received my EOB to understand what they were referring to. The refund process was another ordeal. Despite paying $200 upfront, I wasn't refunded until late June, and only through Venmo, because they refused to send a check. I then had to reimburse my own HSA with a personal check to fix the mess their billing created. This entire experience wasted hours of my time and left me deeply concerned about the practice's billing ethics. If you're a new patient, pay very close attention to your charges -- both upfront and on your insurance.

I was very skeptical about undergoing surgery because I have severe sleep apnea and a vocal cord paralysis. Dr. Kosins provided me with words of reassurance, which gave me the confidence to move forward with the procedure. The surgery went forward without any complications, and my pain decreased significantly. Now it is totally gone. Dr. Kosins was very knowledgeable about complications with breast implants and handled the situation brilliantly. I am very pleased with my results. His office staff is also very friendly and professional. The post operative care provided by his staff was top notch. I would recommend Dr. Kosins to anyone who is considering undergoing breast surgery and anyone who is experiencing issues with breast implants. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with the outcome of my breast augmentation and with the level of follow-up support afterward. I had surgery on May 5, 2025. Around 4-5 months post-op, I began noticing significant asymmetry developing. By the time I returned for my follow-up appointment in September, the issue had already become very noticeable. At this point, I developed capsular contracture on my left side, causing the breast to feel hard, tight, and unnatural. On the right side, the implant dropped significantly lower than the left, creating visible asymmetry and uneven nipple positioning. I also experienced poor scar healing around my right areola, with the scar remaining thick, raised, and persistently itchy nearly a year later. To be fair, Dr. Kosins did acknowledge the asymmetry during my September appointment, discussed revision options with me, and his office provided information regarding the Allergan warranty coverage. I understand capsular contracture is a known risk of breast augmentation surgery and not necessarily the result of negligence. However, what left me disappointed was the lack of continued follow-up and support afterward. After the initial discussion regarding revision options and warranty information, there was no further outreach, follow-up phone call, scheduling assistance for next steps, or even scheduling of my one-year post-op appointment/check-in. As a patient navigating an upsetting complication less than a year after surgery, that absence of communication left me feeling unsupported and alone in the process. I never expected perfection, and I understand complications can happen with any surgery. But when complications do occur, communication, reassurance, and aftercare matter just as much as the surgery itself. Patients deserve to know not only how successful outcomes are handled, but also how they are supported when results do not go as planned.

I had been in search of a good dermatologist for over a year and was struggling to find one who could answer my questions about acne scar treatments. Having suffered from acne all my life, I had read about and experienced several treatments, and am capable of asking 'advanced' questions to dermatologists. Whereas most places answered my questions with a price tag, Dr. Shafa provided genuine, honest answers (WITHOUT MENTIONING THE PRICE EVERY 10 SECONDS). She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about dermatology and that comes through in every conversation I have with her. Treatment Plan: I have pretty severe acne scars (ice pick scars) and active acne (although not as extreme as before). My treatment plan includes continued use of spironolactone for active acne. For my scars, Dr. Shafa started with extractions, followed by TCA Cross, subcision, and dermabrasion. We completed one cycle of these treatments and the results are amazing! I am about to begin the second cycle and CAN'T WAIT to see my results. She also has a patented topical solution which works extremely well to improve the overall appearance of the skin. So far, so good. The Doctor: Dr. Shafa is one of the best doctors I have visited. She is extremely sweet, caring, knowledgeable and compassionate. Her presence is very calming. She does not try to 'sell' treatments or products and truly cares about the results more than short-term monetary gains. Her diagnosis is accurate, and treatment effective. The Staff: The staff is friendly, accommodating and very nice to talk to. They work with you to schedule appointments at convenient times and are diligent. I was extremely happy with the professionalism an gregariousness of all the staff at OC MedDerm. Dr. Shafa was knowledgeable and easy to talk to regarding my treatment options. I have been getting warts on my hands for years, and I usually have them removed with liquid nitrogen. I had been living abroad for over a decade and a wart showed up on my right hand several years ago. I did not want to try a medical procedure abroad, so I decided to Google "wart removal." It was a big mistake. I tried using garlic, as suggested by Google, and it resulted in a group of warts that later connected to form a much larger wart. Dr. Shafa performed a diagnostic test to confirm that I had a large group of warts on my right hand. She gave me several options, and I chose the surgical removal. I was pleased that it was painless except for a small lidocaine injection. The procedure took minutes and I will return in 10 days for removal of the sutures. I had a lymphoma the size of a marble right on the backfold of my leg. It literally looked and felt like a marble was under the skin. I noticed this for some years like 5-6 I'd say. It didn't bother me, but looks hideous. I remember it being smaller too. I had this on the back burner for too long (busy being a Mom ect..) and decided to finally get it taken care of. My 2021 resolution. This office is very fair and reasonable. If i had gone through insurance it would of costed 3xs more bc of a deductible. They discussed my options. I end up paying out of pocket $495 and lab was optional $95. I opt to do it for peace of mind. Dr. Shafa is very skilled, and I went to her bc she had previously treated a difficult scar with much success. All in all, the procedure was quick and painless. I felt a pinch from the numbing shot and was it. Had 3 stitches and that old fatty lump is gone. Should of done it sooner! read more

Dr. Shafa and her staff were very kind and caring from the minute I walked into her office. She guided me throughout all my procedures and clearly outlined everything for me. My first procedure was to take care of scars that I had from my early teen years. No other dermatologist I had gone to was able to help me the way Dr. Shafa has. Her friendly demeanor and expertise made me come back for more procedures after my first one. Her office is very clean and the personal factor that you receive from her is unmatched. My face has taken a lot of damage in the last few years and I finally decided to do something about it. I went to several dermatologists and tried all sorts of various products to no avail. When I met Dr. Shafa, I was immediately struck by how friendly and caring she was towards my problem. She was very understanding and offered her best opinion on how I should proceed. I had done fillers at her office plus miracle creams that removed all the imperfections, discolorations and fine wrinkles from my skin, my face started glowing and look fresh and young again. Soon after I was getting so many compliments from friends and family all wondering what I had done! She managed to make me look at least 10 years younger! Her work is amazing, a real artist! I had bumps on my face that I wanted to remove and am so happy I found this office! Dr. Shafa is a perfectionist and is well seasoned when it comes to removing anything on the skin. I visited Dr. Shafa for a lip discoloration I had and I was very nervous but dr Shafa removed it at a very affordable price. She is very professional and the lip discoloration is gone! I am amazed and very happy. I had this discoloration for over a year and now it's gone. I highly recommend this place. I will update in 1 week for my follow up. I have had 3 sclerotherapy treatments on my legs and the before/after difference is unbelievable! I had spider veins from my ankles to the top of my thighs for the past 20 years and always wore pants or long dresses to cover up my legs. I'm so glad I got to know Dr shafa. I had a mol on my nose and it start getting bigger. I was concerned if it is cancerous and cosmetic it looked bad. She acted as if our questions were an inconvenience and then walked out of the room without properly explaining anything. We left the appointment confused and frustrated, wondering what the point of the visit even was. A doctor may be busy, but that is no excuse for making patients feel dismissed and uncomfortable. Medical appointments require basic communication, patience, and respect. Unfortunately, we experienced none of those things here. I would not recommend this doctor based on our experience, and we will not be returning.

To be clear, this review has nothing to do with the hospitality of the staff or physicians at Irvine Dermatology. Everyone I have interacted with, including Dr. Koupaie, has been kind and pleasant during my visits. My concern is specifically with the organization and management of my Accutane treatment from beginning to end. I was already very anxious about starting Accutane because of the side effects and the strict and tedious process involved with obtaining the medication. Despite those concerns, I decided to move forward. At my first visit, I paid my copay, completed the required bloodwork, took a second pregnancy test in the office, and then attempted to pick up my prescription. At that point, I found out that my iPLEDGE account had not been properly set up by the office. Because my account could not be located in the system, my treatment was delayed by an entire month and I essentially had to start the process over again. This was extremely frustrating and inconvenient. As my treatment continued, I also noticed that during follow-up visits the medical assistants would frequently seem unsure about which month of treatment I was on or what dosage I was taking. I usually corrected the information myself and initially did not think much of it. Toward the end of treatment, however, the repeated confusion about which month I was on became concerning enough that I checked my own prescription history through my pharmacy. I discovered that I was already on my final month of the six-month treatment. I called the office to confirm, was told they would look into it, and later received a text confirming that my treatment was in fact complete. That is what concerned me the most. If I had not independently checked my prescription history and researched the medication myself, I could have continued under the impression that I still had additional months of treatment remaining. For a medication like Accutane, which requires close monitoring and has some pretty strong side effects, I find it alarming that these types of mistakes were made on a consistent basis. I am not writing this review out of malicious intent, and I want to reiterate that the staff has always been personally kind to me. However, the repeated discrepancies in my treatment history made me question the accuracy of the office's charting and how closely patient treatment plans are being tracked. Patients should be able to trust that their medical records, dosage, and treatment timeline are being monitored accurately without having to independently verify everything themselves. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and changes are made.
