I've had several moles removed throughout my life at different dermatologists, and I'd say that the moles removed by Dr. Shafa have produced the best results. The lady at the front desk is very kind and helpful with the check-in process, and the other lady that was assisting Dr. Shafa with my removals was also very kind. She provided me with extra bandages at the end of my visit which were nice to have because of my latex allergy. Dr. Shafa was also very kind, talked me through everything, and made me feel comfortable as she removed each mole. I followed her instructions and it's been roughly 2 weeks since I got my stitches removed. The areas that I had moles removed had been healing very nicely with very minimal discoloration in the area. I've been rotating between using the Aquaphor she recommended and silicone scar patches, and it's been healing very quickly. I have my 6 week check-in with her later this month, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much it fades by then. I also had a mole very close to my eye, and my mom had to ask me which eye I had my mole removed because it was done so well she couldn't see any scarring or discoloration. I'd say I wish I had gotten these removed earlier, but I'm thankful to have gotten them removed at Oc Med Derm with the skill and technology from Dr. Shafa. Xanthelasma removal review: I had xanthelasma near my right eye. It didn't bother me much until my niece pointed at my eye and asked what it was. I told her it was fat. I went to Kaiser Permanente Dermatology and the doctor burned it. The procedure was not covered by insurance, because it was a cosmetic procedure. It only took off the top layer, and I believe my xanthelasma grew bigger when it healed. I then found Dr. Parvin Shafa at OC MedDerm. She had videos and photographs on her website that showed great results for xanthelasma removal. I called the office and was able to get a price estimate over the phone after I sent photographs of the xanthelasma. I went to the office and had my fat deposit surgically removed. The only pain was was from the local anesthetic injected around the surgical area. Dr. Parvin Shafa cut out the xanthelasma. The area was stitched and patched up. My Results: Perfection. No noticeable scars. No residual pain. No signs of xanthelasma. For me, total healing time was approximately five months. The eye area looked great after the stitches were removed. The rest of the healing time was for the scar tissue and residual tender contact pain. The surgery is truly unnoticeable to people after the removal of the stitches (seven days). The following pictures shows the evolution of the eye. I was afraid of my skin being pulled during the stitching, but it looked normal later. I won't go into more detail, but it was a problem. I would've gave this business 5 stars but going here since September and spending $500 I still have a bald spot and then I get a huge bill from Pacific Medical Laboratories when Dr Safia said that it wouldn't cost much to get my labs done. I got labs done in October and now I'm getting a bill from that one star review lab for $200 not only did not get to complete my alopecia treatment but I was stuck paying $200 for a bill that should've been taken care of with my insurance and properly coded. I called to have a large skin abscess drained and the office was happy to schedule me with no problem but was unsure about whether the doctor could do the actual procedure same day. I drove from Corona and waited an hour to be seen. The doctor said the abscess was so large and uncomfortable (it was on my bottom and I couldn't sit) that she would drain it same day but I would have to wait. As I was waiting (im still here now), another woman came to notify me that if I wait longer (no exact time given), that the doctor is willing to stay "over time" and perform the procedure for an out of pocket cost of $495. She said although my deductible is paid and my out of pocket is fulfilled (I have ppo), they cannot run my insurance because they have met their quota of insurance patients for the day - so if I would like the procedure done today, I would need to pay out of pocket. If I agree to come back another day, they can run my insurance so I don't have to pay out of pocket. I have a 5month old baby who is medically unstable and has a surgery in two days and another toddler at home - the reason I needed the procedure done is because I will be in the hospital inpatient this week for my baby's surgery, like I told the staff and doctor, and I can barley sit. They were not sympathetic at all and said "it's my choice" - I could either pay out of pocket to have the procedure performed day of or come back so they can run my insurance (is that legal - could someone let me know)? Anyway, I wasted my entire day and left two babies at home to get this done and apparently can't unless unless I pay out of pocket. Super shady, irresponsible, and unprofessional. I'm so disappointed. I was excited to support an Iranian woman and doctor and feel so let down. read more
