Where do I even begin. First came to Dr Norman Ge for a consultation on my hearing loss I suffered 12 years ago and he was honest and provided me with valuable information and didnt try to sell me any services because he knew there was nothing he can do for me since so much time has lapsed since first losing the hearing. Then I had another issue 2 years later with a hoarse voice and remembered that Dr Ge is an ear, nose and throat dr, so I knew I had to come back to him. From the initial appointment, Dr Ge was able to provide me with a diagnosis and scheduled me a surgery to remove a polyp in my vocal chord (didn't even knew that could happen prior to speaking with Dr Ge). Was some great information and sure enough went through the surgery and everything came out perfect, my voice was back to 100% and Dr Ge was able to walk me through the procedure in the follow up appointment. Really great dr who can provide you with insightful information and does not hide anything. A wonderful surgeon who is able to take care of business, all while Covid was happening. I am thankful for Dr Ge, as he taught me a lot as well as healed my voice. My experience with Dr. Ge was one of the most frustrating and ethically questionable medical encounters I've ever had. My appointment took place in March 2026, when I saw him for vertigo. The visit lasted no more than eight minutes, and he never examined my ears -- yet my insurance was later billed for "surgical services," which absolutely never occurred. When my Explanation of Benefits finally arrived, the issues were glaring: * I was billed for a 30-40 minute visit, despite the appointment being under 10 minutes. * My insurance was charged for procedures that were never performed. * The incorrect billing items conveniently totaled just over the $200 I had been required to pay upfront. I immediately called the office and asked for clarification on every CPT code listed. After repeated calls in April, May, and June, they eventually removed the charge for the nonexistent "surgical services." At one point, they even called to tell me they were "waiving" the $40‑something dollars I was supposedly overcharged -- before I had even received my EOB to understand what they were referring to. The refund process was another ordeal. Despite paying $200 upfront, I wasn't refunded until late June, and only through Venmo, because they refused to send a check. I then had to reimburse my own HSA with a personal check to fix the mess their billing created. This entire experience wasted hours of my time and left me deeply concerned about the practice's billing ethics. Horrible Dr. Not only did he act very dismissive and as if he were in a hurry with no care at all, but he lied on his notes about me. Luckily the front desk staff at the VA helped me see the chief. Terrible quality of care and would never recommend him to anyone. read more

This Dr seems to no longer care about his job. Just get you in and get you out without any recommendations or solutions to your problem. As the others said before, his diagnosis seems the same "There is nothing that I can do". What kind of Dr. just blows you off like this? Please read all reviews before proceeding to schedule an appointment. There is an ongoing theme but unfortunately, I did not read them before scheduling an appointment. I went in to see him for a nasal issue. First thing I noticed that they did not put paper on the tables/chairs. I asked them about that and they said they just clean them. Never seen that at a doctor's office, but ok. When the Dr. walked in, he seemed in a huge rush. Did not ask me about my history, did not really talk to me. He then proceeded to grab a tool & stick it up my nose without warning. He didn't tell me what he was going to do or what to expect. One side was extremely uncomfortable and he just told me me to stay still. He shoved it in really deep with absolutely no warning. He then takes it out, tells me I need surgery & walks out. I follow him out of the room asking him questions to which he is very short & obviously doesn't care to answer. Recently brought my kid to see Dr. Ge, and overall it was a very disappointing and unpleasant experience. We made a reservation ahead of time and arrived on time. However, we had to wait for over 1 hour before we got to see the doctor. The kid was already pretty frustrated due to waiting so long and being hungry. Then the entire visit is less than 5 min. The doctor didn't offer many useful suggestions and he pretty much said there wasn't much I could do. OMG, if you are looking for a Ear Nose and Throat doctor you have to see Dr Ge! I had a dog bite to the face in 2022 and had surgery at UCI a year ago. They promised they would fix my eye, nose and mouth and nothing was fixed. All I wanted was to be able to breathe out of my nose so I went to Dr Ge. He got me in the next day for a consult and surgery was approved and scheduled in 2 weeks! He was very honest with me and said he would do the best to correct the scarring, remove the scar tissue due to a graph UCI did that was bad and open my passage so i could breathe. Hustle hard they said this guy is no exception. Went in for a simple ear check up and was charged $350 two months after and I had insurance...when I called back they said they have no idea what's going on. To my surprise I check out all of the other reviews online and yea he done this to multiple people. Being Asian myself I would not recommend coming to this doctor unless you went to be over charged and have the guy explain nothing. At this point how is he even a doctor? Hands down avoid this place at all cost unless you want them to overcharge you. Like why even copy my insurance papers if your not going to process it correctly. I took my wife to Dr. Ge's office for a simple consultation as she was experiencing severe discomfort in her ear. After examining her ear, he found that there was nothing wrong with it and he said, I quote, "Sorry, I can't help you!" But, he somehow managed to find 'cotton fibers' in her other nonproblematic ear, even though my wife never put anything in her ears including cotton swabs. We were disappointed that he couldn't help us with what we came for and not really sure what to say when he mentioned something about the other ear. Without my wife or me consenting, he proceeded to do the ear cleaning on the nonproblematic ear. The whole consultation + ear cleaning was 3 minutes at best. The bill? About $120 in total incl. copay for a procedure that we didn't ask for or needed. The gold part is, the procedure is written as 'FOREIGN BODY REMOVAL from the ear without general anesthesia.' Pretty dramatic stuff for a simple ear cleaning that we didn't come in for. After disputing the bill over many calls, Dr. Ge himself confirmed that he cannot charge any less for this service that he graciously did for us without our consent for 3 minutes. Thank you, Dr. Ge. He also claimed to have given us a 'generous discount' which he cannot give anymore of. This, by the way, makes no sense as he has full control of the balance being paid to his office. His employees may misinform you that it has to deal with insurance, but no, that balance goes 100% to him. Please keep this in mind if they try to lie to you. I'm not sure why Dr. Ge is so money-hungry considering how established he is as a doctor. But if you've read the other reviews, this is definitely not the first time and our case isn't even the worst one. For anyone reading this, please DO NOT go visit Dr. Ge for anything other than cosmetic plastic surgery. He seems to be more of a grifter than a doctor. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Ge every 4 months for about 3 years. Each visit he "cleans out" my ears and gets rid of excess build up of ear wax. I have found him to be an EXCELLENT doctor. He is kind, patient, a good listener and answers my questions with concern and competence. I've been to other ear doctors, however, not one of them compares to Dr. Ge HE has solved my chronic problem...no more searching for the perfect doctor....I've found him. Dr Ge was great. I just got done with a nasal wall reconstruction to help me breathe better and everything went well. Dr Ge has great bedside manner and answered all of my questions. Office staff was great as well and communicated with me throughout the process. When I had additional questions for Dr Ge before my surgery, he called me back the same day so that I could get my questions answered. Someone has referred my brother to dr Ge for ear examination since he cannot hear from both of his ears and he is concerned with his hearing. As a dutiful sister paying for his medical examination fee, I came here with my brother and I was impressed with this clinic and the doctor. Here are the reasons why: The clinic is located in irvine medical arts on the first floor. The clinic itself is very clean and brightly lighted. The staff here are all super friendly and very helpful. I do not understand why there are previous reviewers here complained about the service and attitude of the staff, because the vibe in the clinic itself is very positive and pleasant. It is standard protocol that when you go to a clinic to fill out a lot of paper work because the doctor wants to accurately diagnosed with the medical conditions that patients have. I do not get why some other yelper are complaint about it. Seriously, if u want to complain about putting effort and writing your own medical history then don't even go see a doctor at all and just stop whining about it like an immature child. Dr ge examines my brothers' ears and indicated that he has too much wax that is causing all the hearing problems. Contrary to what all the unhappy reviews about the doctor, he is very detail in terms of communication and he is also very friendly. He is also very honest for some of the questions that we have for him. In my opinion, he is one of the friendliest, professional, and genuine doctor I have ever met. I used to volunteer in hospitals and have worked with many doctors and none of them are as happy and chill as he is. He also speaks and communicate very clearly, opposite to what others have said about him in other yelp reviews. In addition, dr Ge also speaks Mandarin Chinese, which is super helpful for a lot of native chinese speakers if they are struggling English. Ps: I greatly recommend Dr Norman Ge to anyone who has head and neck problems, including any sinuses, tonsil, and other medical issues. He also does Botox. His wife is a dentist and also work in the same clinic. If you are looking to save time and get your medical conditions solve and teeth clean then this is a good place! Dr. Ge, (As I hesitate to use this title that he doesn't deserve), was grossly negligent in diagnosing a family member. He had ordered all kinds of tests after which all he did was tell the patient to come back in a few months despite test results clearly showing serious issues (another ENT that patient saw was baffled by how Ge did not see issues clearly showing in test results). I know he also does cosmetics procedures and such but I WILL NOT EVEN TRUST HIM WITH A ZIT! No apologies no nothing from his office and I'm still furious! I won't waste my time taking him to court or confronting him as we're still dealing with the devastating medical issues he grossly misdiagnosed. This may sound naive but I do believe in karma so I'm just gonna sit back and wait for it to hit his stupid and arrogant ass! Dr Ahdoot knew it was an ENT issue and referred us to an excellent ENT, Dr. Norman Ge. Dr. Ge was incredibly thorough during his examination and patient with my son. Dr. Ge did an extensive exam and cleaned my son's ears of wax and reassured me that there is no obstruction. Also, his staff is very polite and accommodating. I would highly recommend Dr. G. Please do not come to Dr. Ge's office. I came in for a ear consultation because my left ear was making noise that didn't seem to go away for about a month so I took a visit to Dr. Ge's office hoping he could help me resolve the issue but instead he told me, " I can't help you. I don't know. I can't help you" and I was too stunned to speak afterwards. Never in my life have I heard those words out of a doctor before. After him saying that, he proceeded to check my right ear and saw that there was cotton fibers when I don't use q-tips for my ears and without my consent, proceeded to do an ear cleaning (which was later billed as 'removal of FOREIGN objects). After about 4 months, I got my bill from my visit and it was a whopping $120 (including copay) for something Dr. Ge told me he couldn't help me with...I was too stunned to speak...again. Dr. Ge was kind, upbeat, and confident during my surgery keeping me relaxed and comfortable. I hold him in the highest regard as a surgeon and a compassionate human being . Dr. G was very decent, competent, and thoughtful! My mom had severe middle ear infection that the fluid inside blocked her ear. She's suffering from the hearing loss and dizziness these days. I called the office, and got the appointment for next day, surprise! Dr. G solved the problem by placing ear tubes for my mom. With his expertise, now all the symptoms are gone! This is my 2-cents opinion on this doctor. Going to a specialist shouldn't cost more than a copay, especially is nothing is actually performed. I went to Dr. Norman Ge to look at my sore throat problem. He looked at my throat, and checked my nose and ears while I was there. He told me that I have a lot of wax in my ear so he will remove some for me. I said sure why not, it's just taking out some wax (something anyone at home can easily do on their own). I did not received any treatment for my throat besides the "oh just rest and drink water, it will go away" speech. I paid $30 copay for that great specialist doctor advice. I later receive a bill for $378 that did not include the copay from my insurance. It was listed as "surgical". What is going on? When did I have a surgical procedure done on me? Could he be talking about removing ear wax? I called the office and they said yup. Basically anything the doctor does that involves even slightly touching you is considered surgical. I highly do NOT recommend Dr. Norman Ge. He seems very petty and will charge your insurance a butt load for doing nothing. I am young and have a lot of friends and family, so losing me and everyone that I know as a patient is not a good thing. I was not lucky enough to have the experience with Dr. Ge that the other 2 reviewers had. From the initial call to the visit itself, the whole experience with Dr. Ge's office was perplexing. After 10 months of discomfort in my ear and no diagnoses, my general practitioner finally (FINALLY) gave me a referral. Since I had no choice in who he referred me to, I was pleasantly surprised to see the positive reviews on Yelp. However, when the office staff called, they never bothered to give me the address of the office so I ended up googling it. When I think on it, it seems so utterly unprofessional not to provide a new patient with enough information to get to the office. Don't make the same mistake I did, Dr. Ge's office is not in Hoag Hospital but the office building to the right of it. Anyway, when I located his office, the staff was friendly enough but not very thorough. There was a ton of paperwork to fill out, which would have been nice to know before the visit. I didn't wait long for Dr. Ge once I was led to the examination room. He came in, greeted me, and asked if he could have a student shadow him. In my experience, the care I've gotten when a med student shadows the doctor has been sub-par - completely opposite of what you would expect, but totally true in my case. I declined and I feel, from that moment on, he shut down or was in such a rush that I didn't even get a good answer. He spoke so quickly during the prognosis that I don't even know what the problem with my ear is - even now. So frustrating! His recommendation was that I try to pop my ear drum and sit up if my ear starts having a static sound. While I am relieved it is nothing serious, I also feel like the care I got here was frustrating and that I wasn't taken seriously. More than anything I feel like I know exactly what I knew going in - which is to say, nothing. read more

I was recommended to see Dr Ge for a bleeding nose problem. I had to fly out of town for the week, so his staff squeezed me in for an appointment today. The doctor was thorough, friendly, and competent. He diagnosed the issue and showed me the problems on a video screen. He explained the best course of action and I'm convinced. He's contacting my insurance carrier to get approval for the procedure. I'll follow up after it's done here, but I'm convinced I've got the right guy on this. read more

Dr. Ge performed surgery for my Dad twice to remove the naevus and the cancer cell near the my Dad's nose. I was really concerned in the beginning considering my Dad's age. But Dr. Ge did great job. Dr Ge came into the room. He's a good looking, well dressed man. He said hello and immediately came toward me with a spray and tilted my head back. No explanation, no warning. I like to know what's going to happen so I can be informed. He explained it was numbing gel for a scope up my nose. I want told this and I declined. And yes like the other review he checked out. Very unprofessional. My ear had clogged up during the weekend and I needed to see an ENT doctor. I did some searching and decided to go with Dr. GE. The receptionist who received my call on Monday 12/28 at 9am said they will call back in "30 minutes" I wait and there was no response, so I went to another doctor 5 miles out and got treated no problem. Today, Tuesday 12/29 I get a call back asking me "We have a missed call from you?" Yes, because you told me that you would call me back in 30 minutes. Dr. Ge has been my doctor for many years now and I couldn't be happier. He truly wants the best for his patients and has always made me feel supported and cared for at all times. I've been his patient since 2012 and I've never had a problem he couldn't address properly. Because of him, I was able to find the proper medication for my sinus migraines and finally get the relief I needed. I was recommended by my MD for a congested nose problem. When I called, I was invited to see the doctor one hour after it. I was pleasantly surprised to have an appointment so fast. And here begin the same things I read in other reviews...First, I had to pay $150 "to be refunded partially depending of my insurance". Then, when I entered the room Dr Ge ask me two questions and with barely no explication began to scope my nose and throat. He asked me to do a CT scan. One week after that procedure, he called me for the results. I can say that between his phone call and the visit, I "wasted" his time during 20 minutes. When I called back his office to know about my payment of $150, one guy told me that I was not on their records!! I called back today and they told me that they charged me $730 for the visit and they are waiting for my insurance for the payment...I am SUPER upset regarding the amount of money this physician charged me. I was disappointed by the experience. He used the scope to examine me. I guess it's more accurate. However, this whole process took less than one minute, and, more importantly, Dr. Ge ended up telling me the same information that my family doctor told me. And now I would need to spend HUNDREDS of dollars on this service (again, it lasted less than one minute; I am not even really sure if it was a thorough examination). I understand that the doctor should be fairly compensated for his work. However, I did not really get any new information. Also, since my plan has a high deductible, I asked the office manager if she could give me a cash price (maybe to save some money). She would not provide me such information; she suggested that I seek care elsewhere. I asked her if she knew the CPT code for the examination that Dr. Ge would do for my super short office visit. She claimed that she had no idea what that CPT code was. In theory, my health plan (Anthem Blue Cross) would offer three "free" office visits per year (meaning that the plan would cover 100% of these three office visits). However, the office manager at Dr. Ge's office decided to apply the FULL charged amount to my deductible. I was just speechless.
