I wanted to give my honest review for OC Electric. Please know that this review is not a fake or paid review. Let me say first of all that these guys are the real deal. Before deciding to use OC Electric to replace our electric panel, I had no less then 6 quotes from electricians, including some with really good Yelp reviews. 5 out of the 6 businesses that I reached out to each had some serious issues that made me realize what a difference there are in the way companies like this do business. I kept detailed notes on each company and OC Electric was the only one who didn't have any negative issues as far as I was concerned. First, it's important to understand that for the most part, upgrading an electric panel is for the most part, going to be the same process for all of these electricians, so, to begin with all of them will give you a basic quote with just texting the company basic info and some pictures of the existing panel. This is not like the "old days" where a business will come out, look at the job and give you a price. After texting Ruben some pictures of my existing panel, we set up a time for him to come and give me a formal quote. The price was in line with what most of the other businesses and we decided to move forward with OC Electric. He handled all of the permits necessary in a very timely manner so that there would be no delays in starting the work. He texted me the day and time that they would arrive to start the job. For a big job like this, there are always concerns that during the process, unknown issues would be uncovered which lead to unexpected problems and costs. We've all heard the horror stories (and seen on those home improvement shows) right? Thank God there was nothing like that during this process for us. Keep in mind that we were replacing the original electric panel from when the house was built sometime back in 1963. A LOT of things have changed with electricity in the last 63 years. Mainly the size of these panels. I had no idea that today's panels are about 5 times bigger than my old one. On the first day, two OC Electric technicians showed up right on time and got right to work. They began at around 8 AM and finished around 6 PM on the first day. By the time they left that first day, all of our electricity was working perfectly and each breaker switch for the new 200 Amp electric panel was clearly labeled. The technicians who worked at my house that day were courteous, and professional and they cleaned up any mess made from the work. These guys went above and beyond. In fact, on day 1 when they stopped to take their lunch break, one of the guys even offered to bring me back some lunch! Wow, how many hired workers do that? None that I know of. I also had a small separate wiring job that I had started myself (but never completed) and asked if they could take care of, and guess what? They did it for me in about 10 minutes. I was so grateful to them. For this process there are a few steps involved, each one requiring an inspection and an approval from the city. First, the initial installation of the new panel, then inspection. Next was repairing the stucco. New chicken wire around the panel must be attached, then inspection. Next, stucco and paint, then final inspection. By the way, for our job I had told OC Electric that we didn't require painting because we are planning on getting the house painted anyway, but they insisted and the stucco guy did a pretty good job at matching the stucco texture. The paint color he used was slightly different, but for me, it didn't matter because of the future paint job. The entire process took about a week due to the inspections that needed to be scheduled, which can be a hassle because you're at the mercy of the city inspector. Scheduling all of the inspections was handled by Ruben and he was always good at keeping me updated as to when each inspection would take place. Except for the initial inspection, someone from OC Electric was here to meet the inspector each time. Aside from a couple minor aesthetic details, (which can't be avoided because of all of the new electric codes involved) I was very satisfied with the work that OC Electric performed and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an electrician. If I have any more electrical work in the future, I won't hesitate to give them a call.

Had Ruben out today from OC Electric to install this fan light in my kitchen and a Ring doorbell. Very professional, super quick. And they laid out plastic to cover everything for quick and easy clean up. Very reasonable pricing. Appointment was set for sometime between noon and 2pm today. They arrived just before noon and were done within 30 minutes. Well worth the price! Highly recommend.

Great experience with installation of a NEMA 14-50 outlet for EV charging. I got connected with Ruben Jr. through Yelp. He was very responsive and gave a competitive quote. Our house was built in 1975 and our main panel had no more space for new circuit breakers so this was a bit complicated but they installed a subpanel in our garage from which they ran the 14-50 outlet. Ruben Jr. and Ruben Sr. (Father-Son duo) did the work for us and we were very pleased. It's been a couple weeks now and we've had no issues. See photos of a job well done! read more

None of the outlets worked. I replaced the GFCI outlet myself but that didn't do the trick. Called OC Electric. It was easy to request and confirm a date and time for service. I needed 3 chandeliers hung with 1 to be rewired and hung from a 20' ceiling. From the start OC Electric was clear and prompt in communicating that they could do the job along with estimate. They came for the appointment right on time, and were efficient it doing the job and letting me know pertinent details of light fixtures they were installing as well as did a great job of cleaning up after. I spoke to Sergio from 'Lighting and Electrical' and from the very start, he was responsive, understanding, and very flexible with scheduling! What stood out the most were his transparency and adaptability, which are something we really value highly. In the end, the installation took only 30 minutes. Throughout the process, Hector and Jose remained incredibly friendly and professional. They also were respectful of our home and property. The pricing was fair and competitive. It is refreshing to find a company that deliver quality work without overcharging or overcomplicating (purposely or not) a simple job. I was contacted right away.. we met at our home a few days later. The appointment lasted 30 minutes and they planned out 4 rooms with recessed lights and 3 TV installations (with electrical boxes behind) along with mounting. The estimate came only a few hours later.. It was easy to read and very fair.. no Nickle or diming. They set a time for the following week, showed up on-time with 3 vans and a lot of crew. The entire project was done by 4pm that day.. It was absolutely incredible to see them work. What professionals.. left everything spotless.. not a bit of dust left behind. Incredible value for what they offered. Also my wife loved that they simply let you pick from any dimmer or light they had... they didn't focus on the price (it's all same, choose what you like they told her) because of course.. why focus on $5 difference in cost when you want the client to be thrilled with what they select. 5 Stars++++

Alfred came out to explain the whole plan, and he was amazing. He walked us through every detail, clearly and patiently. During the work, one of our sprinklers was accidentally damaged, but they fixed it perfectly on the spot and made sure all the post-work cleanup was done thoroughly. The easiest fix was to replace them with the same fixture. I did some initial searches for the light fixture, and couldn't find the model. So I called Walters Wholesale Electric and a gentleman named Don B. answered the phone. Not only was he courteous and helpful, he was EXCEPTIONAL in his customer service. I gave him the serial number for the light fixture, and emailed him photos of the light and fixture. Within 5 minutes he called me back to let me know they didn't carry that light. But...he searched it on the internet and found Lowes had them - in stock at the location near me. Who does that? He went the extra mile to find a solution to my problem It was a discontinued item, but Lowes indeed had some stock left, and I was able to complete my project. Thank you Don. I contacted OC Electric because a number of outlets in our home went out at the same time. I chose them because of the great reviews on Yelp, and I wasn't disappointed. Ruben and Joe were able to come out the next day to diagnose the problem. They found the problem, installed a new outlet, and replaced a couple of older outlets with GFCI ones--all relatively quickly and for a reasonable price. I would HIGHLY recommend Ruben for any electrical work you need done. I used him for charging needs for my Tesla and not only is his craftsmanship outstanding but he stands by his work if there are any issue.
