The staff are nice and fast with check in. The room is well decorated but it can get very stuffy. The drinks are reasonable. You can request less ice in cocktails. Do not buy parking in advance online. The GA parking is very far from the entrance. They sell parking right in front of the entrance for $30. The music and the lights are ok. They are not night clubs so we can't expect too much. The venue has 2 rooms which have different events. You can walk by and check out the other easily. Will come back for upcoming events since it is so close to home :)

Nice standing room only with both level upstairs has a full view of the staff and front downstairs. Big long bar with friendly staffs, they do have snacks & beers & cocktails as well as non liquor. Went here for club90: heated rivalry night...and it was a blast with packed house. Well managed from outside security & to inside. They do have exit doer right inside so easy to exit plus 2 bathrooms (one and the same room) and one is outside. Plenty of outdoor seating area (benches) and bars throughout the venue. VIP parking right infront or their regular parking lot is across the street about 5-7mins walk. Staff are nice and friendly overall. Really enjoy this place & felt safe.

This venue is a smaller venue located technically in Santa Ana, but it's in an area where Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Fountain Valley all kind of meet. This is my favorite venue to watch musicians that I like in OC and possibly one of my favorite small venues anywhere. For me, the schedule feels like it punches above its weight. I've been to a LOT of shows here over the years, especially when I only lived down the street a while back. The folks are usually, if not always friendly and the drink prices I feel like are on par with other concert venues. I will say, though I think they have a slightly better selection in whiskey than I've seen at other places. I can't speak to the parking because there's this area I've been going to for years that requires me to walk just a couple of blocks. Most recently, I went to see a band I've loved a long time for a Halloween show - The Faint. And as expected, the show was amazing. Standing in the place, I forgot how much I loved this venue. It's been a long time since I've been to a show here. Some other I've shows I've really enjoyed here: At the Drive-In 3/22/2016: Of all places, this was their first stop on their reunion tour in 2016. One of my faves in college and in my 20's. Never got to see them live in the early 2000's before they split. So I was really excited for this show and such a perfect venue for them. Jenny Lewis 8/2015: such a fun show...Rilo Kiley had broken up by this point. Alkaline Trio 6/2015: One of my faves for a long time and so glad I got to see them at this venu. Yelle 4/2015: French musician. I really loved here album that came out around this time. Trampled by Turtles 2013 There were some other shows I've really enjoyed, but just can't think of them...

First time here and and happy with $10 parking in a business park - way across the street (a bit of a walk- don't wear heels) rather than parking right outside the club for $30!!! Shocked that the OC has prices like Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. There is also something else to consider before you even use your actual tickets to enter the facility - Fast Lane, which is early entry (6pm instead of 7pm). I think it might vary by show but when I went, it was $25 for Friday & $20 for Saturday. I did love this up close experience to see my favorite punk band, X. Their first & second shows here took place on Friday, December 27 & Saturday, December 28, 2024. After getting the lay of the land on the first night, I ended up paying for Fast Lane for night two and was in the very first row, leaning on the stage. Sound & lighting were good and the view was good everywhere in the main room (the observatory). I didn't have anything to eat/drink, but there were options available. Merchandise is usually on sale at the back of the room. It's a bit of a drive for me from the San Fernando valley, but I'd come here again for a band I really wanted to see. Thanks for having X here!

Really nice venue with an intimate setting for shows and artists. I was in the pit but honestly I would've loved to opt for the seating above as even up there it was a clear view!

Came here for a show for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the venue. It's located in a business park that's quite unassuming, with plenty of parking available up front (it's $30). Security and check-in was a breeze and the staff was very friendly. They offered VIP seating on the second floor for $20 which wasn't bad, especially considering there was a private bar and bathroom up there too. If you like your space and want somewhere to sit, I recommend this. The venue itself is great, I liked the arena style setup so that you can get a decent view of the stage from anywhere, and the sound was solid too ( though in the VIP area the sound was a little quieter which allowed for me to talk with friends). I think the stage production could improve a little bit as it is a bit lacking, but overall I liked this intimate venue and would happily come back for a show.

Absolutely the best venue to see The Buttertones! The sound was magnificent, the VIP section clean and the restrooms..: I never thought I will ever describe a public place as divinely pleasant. Squeaky Clean. Our VIP view from the balcony was unobstructed. Until of course a group of 8 young fans got seated right in front of us in a very very empty space. It's like seating alone at the Hollywood Bowl and some group choosing the section in front of you. Luckily after 3 songs, the considerate staff noticed our not so perfect arrangement and discreetly told us to sit anywhere we wanted to make our experience more pleasant. We took the offer. And we will soon be back for another show in a few weeks. I'm so happy The Observatory exists. Only caveat, if a show happens on a rainy day, they require you to put your umbrella back to your car and walk back in the rain.... The utter definition of pointless. We were obliged for them to confiscate it. Thankfully my cute umbrella only costs cents

Love this venue, it has been one of my favorites since I was a teen. The venue itself is super intimate and is standing room only. The staff are friendly and efficient. The one downside is that parking is far and not cheap. But overall, one of my favorite venues

    view from ADA section

First time I was here was 2016 in the smaller room, and I wasn't disabled then. I came for a Summer Set show and I was pretty worried, considering some of the reviews here about accommodations, but I've had nothing but an easy time! Every staff member was super helpful, but the reason I'm writing this is to recognize one of the bartenders-- I missed getting his name, but he was the bald gentleman on the far right if you're facing the bar. I recognized that my sugar was getting low and went to get some water and see if there was candy or something just as an emergency boost, and he took good care of me and made sure I got some orange juice in me. It was that kind of care that makes me wanna come back here! Otherwise, ADA section was good. Not too full. I did end up using a stool since the seat on my walker is pretty low and the wall is kind of high, so be aware of that if you use a wheelchair/can't transfer out. Bathrooms were super clean! Fries weren't super salty which was a bummer but they were perfectly hot and crispy so that wins me back. Parking was super easy, I paid for premium so that I didn't have to go too far with my walker.

Been coming here forever. We are lucky to have this place. Super convenient to get to. Parking is easy. For 30 bucks you can park 30 feet away from the entrance. The rest is 15... Pro Tip. Don't park in any of the surrounding businesses's lots that say "no parking". You will be towed. It happened to me. Tow trucks are just sitting around waiting for someone to park there so they can tow them. They do not need to be called. They just sit around and grab your car. They have permission from the owners. Quick lines through security.. Food is surprisingly good. The main stage is great. I am shorter so I like that the audience is tiered so everyone can see. For Agent Orange it was $60 extra to sit upstairs in a booth. Well worth it! I greatly prefer this place to the House of Blues Anaheim.....

Awesome venue. Like truly awesome. I have gone to plenty of other concert venues and this has to be the best one so far. First off the parking is easy (even though we Uber-ed) I saw how much of an ease it was for others to get in and get out. The organization was *chefs kiss* no cutters, no confusion, no tolerance for people being dummies; my kinda place. Once you pass security check, there are many people inside guiding you where to go and do so with a smile. The sound was great. Enough to make you boogie and not annoyingly loud or obnoxious. We were front row and we loved every bit of it. I can't tell you if the drinks were any good, because I am over 6 years sober (yay me), but the Diet Coke was legit. Restroom lines were never excessively long because they have multiple (one in the back, one in the front). Cool place. Loved it and hopefully I will return!

The exterior of this venue has changed quite a bit in the 10+ years between visits. Back in the early 2000s it felt small, unassuming, and honestly kinda run down. But I don't mean that in a bad way. Now, the exterior has gotten a huge facelift. It's welcoming yet unassuming. But it definitely feels more like an actual concert venue. Inside, however, it doesn't feel like much has changed. And that's fine. The interior is small and intimate. The semi stacked standing room layout lets people have a great view of the stage even if you're towards the back. If you're short, you don't have to worry about not seeing a thing. Sound quality is good to. Nothing sounds blown out and you can really hear all the instruments well. Sometimes these smaller venues have really muddy mixes where you can't really call out the individual artists or instruments. There is one thing I do want to call out though. I bought my parking early online for 'premiere parking' thinking that that would get me a spot right outside. I knew the venue had a small lot so I wanted to be able to walk out of the venue and get in my car. When I showed up to the venue, I was told that I had to go basically 2 blocks away to a different lot to park then walk back to the venue. Was it far? No. But was it annoying and not what I was expecting? Absolutely. It just felt somewhat like a bate & switch going on. So, just be aware of that when trying to buy parking ahead of time.

Watched Dustin Kensrue of Thrice perform his latest album and of course, he killed it. Them country vibes were strong that night. About the venue... First timer, but it felt instantly cozy; wood leather and exposed brick seem to be the predominant materials. And although I'm sure there were lots of people on the ground floor, I opted for tix up on the balcony; I'm short and need counter space for my drinks and phone. Also, I'm at the age where sitting down at a concert is my vibe. But before heading up to the balcony, we dropped by the bar and ordered some snacks and drinks... THE FOOD. - Pizza Fries | Melted mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and marinara sauce on top of thick fries. Weird combo but it's pretty good. - Pretzel | Soft. Medium. Nothing much more to comment on. THE DRUNK DRINKS. - Jameson and Gingerale | Sweet with a whiskey kick. - Double Shot of Jameson | It was necessary. THE PARKING. We pre-paid online for parking at the venue. Worth it if you hate having to figure out parking. COMING BACK? Yes! The vibe was my vibe.

Give you an idea of our view from the balcony. Bravo to Signs of the Swarm!

I just purchased tickets, and it says GA1. I Know it is General, but what does the 1 mean and can I just stand anywhere?

Not sure what the 1 is for. You can stand pretty much anywhere except for the stairs leading to the pit.. they will ask you to move.

    Can babies attend concerts here?

If you don't care about your baby's future health issues, then by all means bring that lil' fella!

    Is parking free?

No, when you buy your ticket, there usually is a pre paid parking option and the night of the event, they will guide you to the parking location. There is an option to buy the night of the venue as well if you don't prepay. There are lots of parking… Read more

Do they accept a Mexican passport as a valid ID?

What's the food like? Is Poutine really the whole menu?

The menu presently is a variety of sliders, poutine, and plain fries, if I recall correctly. All of the food is good, especially the sliders. The short rib sliders are my favorite.

Do they still do early entry if you make a reservation?

The last time we went, they had already opened up the venue to the people standing in line outside by the time we got our food, so we did not get early entry. Part of the problem was that they opened up the restaurant later than they should have.

Is there tables or a wheelchair area?

When you make a restaurant reservation before a show, it says "Each guest in your party must meet a $15 minimum spend on food." Is it specifically food, or do drinks/alcohol count as well?

    Just food unfortunately.

    Is there a dress code?

No. Just clothes. Dress for occasion or culture appropriate depends on who performs!

I reserved a table. Can we sit at the table during the entire show? My husband has bad knees and can't stand all night.

If you are talking about the "restaurant", it is actually the bar and nowhere in the same vicinity as the venue. The stage is several rooms away. Only if you pay $$$$ for a VIP table will you have a view of the stage.

Is it hot at the observatory? Is there air conditioning or fans?

Like most bigger venues, there is AC. Though the rooms are ventilated, they can get warm depending on the show and where you are located. Obviously if you're at a rock show and watching from the pit, it will get hot and sweaty. That's the best way I… Read more

Is their chairs or section with valid handicap sign? Is the wait in line required?

In the main room, the Observatory, there is a handicap section in the back that's marked off and seperated. I think there's a ramp for that access too. Now if they have to wait in line, I am not too sure.

Is the VIP section worth it?

Not in the slightest! Just arrive early for a good view.

Is there any cheaper parking options available near the observatory? I wouldn't mind walking 5-10 minutes. Also is it possible to acquire parking at the observatory the night of the event?

You can get free parking to the event if you make a reservation and eat at their restaurant inside. It's a upper end sausage place, well worth it. Last time I was there you got in early too. I reserved it from their website. Hope that helps!

What's the best way to secure a spot at barrier: line up at the doors early or make a reservation for Wursthaus? How early will they allow people to line up for doors?

Get there early and race to the front.

It's in a really nice area of Costa Mesa close to a bunch of hotels, south coast plaza and some of the best restaurants. I would say it's a little tucked in, because I am always in this area and have never seen it before. The ambiance inside is nice as well. Everyone was so friendly Once we entered the building, there are tons of staff directing you where to go if you need help finding your section They do have stairs when you walk in, but they have elevators. I know how to do it since I already volunteered for 3 shows. I also have a graduate degree from an Ivy League. I know how to use the software but Norm is not listening. He wants to show me the manual for volunteers even which tells what to say and courtesy respond techniques to patron's concerns. Norm doesn't follow his own words or instructions in the manual. 5. Spend extra money to buy my own uniform. We don't get paid anything to cover it. 6. No time to eat dinner unless before showtime or after the show ends late at night. 7. See email for poor resolution from Norm. 8. No compensation, no water or food. I had to ask the bar to help. Unless you enjoy standing and spending 4.5 + hours of time and see an undesired outcome, I wouldn't recommend volunteering. There's a lot of volunteer retirees

I had a couple drinks at a live music show Ashley Felton and Daniel Bonte and the Bona Fide, I…read moredidn't have any food. The sound system was on point, both acts sounded great. The lighting and the sound system was on point with other great venues. This was my first visit to the Tiki Bar. Parking is limited and I had to find street parking a couple blocks away but no issues there. Prices were great, some venues like to gouge you for drinks. $9 for well cocktails $5 for bottled beer. You can't beat that in most venues. Compared to HOB it was a steal and the same level of music and people. Smeller venue but great sound, great energy and great people. Prior reviews that said bright lights and bad drinks I did not experience that at all. The tiki vibe is admittingly lacking there's a sparse amount of tiki related decor but the tiki drink I got was great and strong and cheap! What more can you ask for. The crowd was great except they all scattered like cockroaches when the music ended LOL!

Bar is fun but beware of the taco lady. She nabbed me for an extra $20. I was totally sober and…read morehanded her $20 for a $9 dollar order and asked her to add a quesadilla to my order ( which was 3 tacos) then she asked for the total of two orders. -$24. $9 for 3 tacos and $15 I guess for a carne asada quesadilla. I handed her $20 and she repeated "$24". I told her I just gave you a $20 -she said no. I had just taken out $80 from their ATM so I know it wasn't in my wallet because I only had $60. I canceled the quesadilla And said screw it- paid her the extra $20. So basically $29 for 3 street tacos. And went in my way. She is sneaky. Probably gets away with this on buzzed dudes in the bar.
