Cafe Sevilla has been open since 1987. It is located in downtown Costa Mesa at Triangle Square. Cafe Sevilla is at tapas bar, restaurant & nightclub. They have live music and sometimes dance they have a full bar. The place is clean and really pretty inside and out. They even have brunch and salas dance classes if you are up to that. We just dined there. It can get crowded so make a reservation. It is also loud when there is music or dancing and all of it is great fun. You can hear each other. Just sit close. The service is amazing and the servers will help you with the wonderful tapas menu. The menu has something for everyone. We the shareable plates. Their TORTILLA ESPAÑOLA which is a traditional Potato & Egg Tart with wonderful roasted garlic, tomato and goat cheese served warm with greens. Their GAMBAS AL AJILLO which is shrimp made with roasted garlic, chile arbor and white wine was our favorite. All of it is great. They have rooms for private events, but I don't know about that. Cafe Sevilla This place is honestly another favorite spots in Orange County. I've even bought gift cards here just to give to family because I love it that much. The whole experience is what makes it special--the ambiance, the Latin flavors, the service, everything is on point. But what really sets it apart is the folklórico dance performance. You don't just eat here, you get a full experience. It feels like a beautiful little piece of Spain brought to Costa Mesa. The dinner is like a full three-course experience while you watch the dancers, and it's just so memorable and unique. If you're in Orange County, this is a must-visit spot--you really should treat yourself at least once. Also, if you stay after dinner, it opens up into a club and you don't have to pay entrance into the club. They have a nice bar outside, so the ambience is flowing Ali he with drinks. The evenings that I've stayed after they have two rooms OK they have a DJ room and then they have the band room, I don't know if they have a band every single night but the times I've been there they do and I like that you one room is very club vibe and then you can go into the band room and it's more like salsa lit up vibing. I myself still have a gift card for their café side that I'm excited to use soon and check out. Can't wait to go back this week. read more

I go to Sevilla usually once a week on Sundays, for Salsa/Bachata dancing. And while I love the event, I have to say the fact that this establishment still allows SMOKING on the patio is really disturbing. People are actively moving therefore they breathe that disgusting stuff twice as much. And don't let me start on breathing that while eating! For me personally...I already ended up in the hospital, because of second hand smoking, once. And I really don't want to do it again. Also what would be handy...is another LIVE bartender. Whoever is there so far looks like he's there as a punishment. Wanted to order a drink at the bar and the guy totally overlooked me. and that's not the first time. Ok, we have been to this place many many times but we have come back after months this time. Food was good BUT BAND WAS NOT. Please BRING BACK THE GIRL who used to sing with her band. The way it was organized before was WAY BETTER. This time around they got breaks and the speaker music was a mess. Then certain songs the singer just didn't get the notes correctly, because this place is more often visited BY US to dance we will not be coming back UNLESS something changes with the band sitiation. I hate leaving bad reviews but I just had to. I stopped at Cafe Sevilla in Costa Mesa to make time and avoid traffic. I have been at Cafe Sevilla in San Diego multiple times, but this was my first time in this location. The Sangria Royal with liquor 43 is fantastic! The grilled octopus Romesco was excellent. The croquettes and the patatas bravas were okay. I love Spanish food! Service was friendly and on point. Mia made me feel welcomed. It is nice that there is a big parking structure. This location also has the flamenco show every other Saturday. That is always si much fun. We came here with some friends who were visiting from out of town. I really liked the vibe, and I thought the restaurant itself was really pretty. However, I don't think I would come here again. They sat us at the smallest table known to mankind. The table would have barely comfortably have fit 2 - let alone 4. We are big foodies so we like to order a little of everything, and we were not able to do so. The table only fit 3 appetizers. We could not even order our food until we were done because we would have had nowhere to put it. We ordered another appetizer and asked the server if we could be moved to a bigger table in the main room. Luckily they were able to accommodate us, and we felt like we could actually breathe and enjoy our food. The food was really good - do NOT skip the kalamata fresh load. It was some of the best bread I have ever had. The paella was mid. The braised short rib was also just okay. They had live music playing which was nice. I use to love coming here. Even have celebrated birthdays here but I just came on Thursday for the half off tapas all night and was confused when I got the bill and it was all full price. Then I showed the bartender the website that states half off tapas all night Wednesday and Thursday so they should honor what they post. He then went to talk to someone and when I got the bill again only some tapas were discounted. I didn't want to continue arguing with him so I just paid and still tipped 20% but definitely not coming back anymore. read more

Celebrated our friend's birthday here on a Saturday evening. We had a reservation for a party of 8 and sat outdoors, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the colorful sky during sunset. With such a large party, it took awhile for us to decide what to order to share among the group, especially because it was our first time here. Fortunately, we had Tee as our sweet, patient, and helpful server! Tee walked us through different items on the menu and gave us recommendations on the best way to order for our group size. We ordered a bunch of dishes and drinks. Out of those items, the dishes that stood out to me were: - Papa Bravas - Paella Valenciana - Carne Brocheta - Cordero Brocheta - Pan Con Tomate (the olive bread is amazing) I always see Cafe Sevilla, but I never felt like I needed to go because I try to avoid that whole plaza in general (there are lots of hella lit people there from the club on the first floor, and I am usually not in the mood to deal with a bunch of drunk people). After actually experiencing it, I really like this place and will definitely be coming back. I was very surprised and pleased with the food and the service we received. I admire Tee's hospitality, especially on a busy evening. Food was amazing, but Tee brought our dining experience to a whole new level. Parking-wise, there are plenty at the structure. At 10 pm, I was told that a part of the restaurant turns into a dance club that plays R&B, Hip Hop, with a Latin mix. The octopus is incredibly soft and the salad underneath it was amazing. The croquetas hit the spot. The paella was good, nothing mindblowing but well-balanced flavors and good execution. Wish it had more socarrat. The waiter was very nice and came to our table enough times that we felt taken care of but not bothered. Keep note there is a dress code, but not sure if they strictly enforce it. We sat outside and it was quite chilly but their outside warmers were enough for a temperate evening. There were line dancers inside, but the waiter also let us know they have events on other nights of the week. It was fairly easy to make reservations and parking is plentiful. I was invited for a bday party and for a table of 14 I think it was and we were sat outside at the table with a built in fireplace. Our servers were Isaac and Mia. They did great in managing our table requests. I got a variety of tapas to share as well as a dinner for two to share amongst the people in my area. The pulpo, the beef empanadas, the gambas al ajillo, the paella valenciana, the salchichas, croquetas, and the ceviche were all really good. Came here on a Saturday night because I was looking for a place with live music. This restaurant is located inside Triangle Square in Costa Mesa. Parking is plenty and it's free. The music starts at 8pm and it's very lively. After 10pm this place will turn into a club and will be a 21 and older venue. We arrived at 8pm and were pretty sure we'll be done before this place goes wild but we didn't leave until 9:50pm. Not because we wanted to, the food just takes forever to arrive. Perhaps the restaurant wanted you to stay so you can drink more or they are just slow. It took 20+ mins between dishes. The food is not bad but nothing unique. However, the vibe is awesome and older couples are dancing, like for 2+ hours. There was a couple dancing behind my chair for 2 hours straight. Nothing eating or drinking, just dancing. I thought they'll tired themselves eventually but they got more juice than the energizer bunny. The wife's ass keeps swiping my chair. I didn't want to complaint to ruin someone's fun night but damn I admire their enthusiasm. The food is not too expensive and is pretty tasty but needs to come out quicker. We ordered the dinner for 2 that comes with 3 appetizers and ends with a paella. By the time I got the Paella it was over an hour after I order and I wasn't hungry anymore. Enjoyed dinner with a friend here recently for my birthday (several weeks after). Neither of us had ever been before so we weren't familiar with the items or flavors on the tapas menu. Our waiter was very friendly and explained the half off tapas special--loved that it was available on a Sat evening. I ordered 3 tapas plates and a margarita. And, I left with 2 leftover containers. My friend ordered several tapas plates and yes, she had leftovers also. We kept saying how great the flavors were. I really loved the food. At twilight the fire pit was turned on, we got to see the flickering dancing frame! I came for its seafood paella, and it's not disappointing. Among toppings prawns are especially flavorful, followed by salmon that's tasty, but the mussels and crams are without flavor, if they dipped it with paella while cooking that would be better. Nice popular restaurant and dance club in Costa Mesa / Newport Beach area. I can't believe that this is the first time we have been to this seemingly popular place. We came on a Sunday evening to celebrate a birthday party. We had reservations and our take was ready but we didn't like the table and they accommodated us outside with combing a few other tables. You can bring your dog if you are sitting outside which is very convenient. It was happy hour (before 7) all tapas are half off. I had their short rib tacos for dinner which was very tasty. Only complaint would be that the chimichuri made it super oily. I also tried the lamb sliders that were delightful. On toasted ciabatta bread with caramalizes onions. The Brussels sprouts were out of this world. I had only one piece. My wife got the paella. She rated it (4/5). Mainly I deducted a star given the fact that as soon as we sat down the told us that the were out of seafood. So our paella had mushrooms on top instead of shrimp ;) We enjoyed the live music at the bar and at the same time there was a dancing session going on in the main ballroom. We visited this establishment on Wednesday, May 13th for their Dancing Night event, expecting a professional and welcoming environment. Unfortunately, our experience with one of the bartenders on the dancing side was extremely disappointing. After purchasing 3 rounds of drinks, we were informed that we would no longer be served because we were "not tipping." He said "I do not have to serve you because you are not tipping". Tipping should always remain optional and based on the quality of service provided, not used as a condition to continue serving paying customers. The way the situation was handled felt unprofessional, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for a business that promotes hospitality and customer service. Due to the seriousness of the interaction, we brought the matter to the attention of the manager that same evening. While the concern was acknowledged, the experience had already negatively impacted the night for our group. I fully understand and respect the hard work that service industry employees do, and I normally appreciate good service accordingly. However, no customer should feel pressured, judged, or denied service based on gratuity expectations. Stopped by for happy hour before a show at Segerstrom. It's a huge restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. I love the big palapa style roofs that give you the outdoor vibes. There were a lot of happy hour specials for both drinks and food and we took advantage of both. The drinks were great and the tapas delicious. Both times I've been here, the restaurant itself is super cold and moving seats doesn't help so it's unfortunate on that end because it's a spot that wearing a dress is nice but too cold. Beautiful ambience, and amazingly attentive staff. The drinks were fairly strong, and the live music was loud; yet, a lot of fun. It has a very small and intimate dance area with small restaurant tables scattered around and a few benches with bar high tables. I've been here a few times- brunch, happy hour, and dinner. I will say the best experiences have been at brunch with their bottomless mimosas. However the food was just alright. It was mostly for the brunch deal that made this place worth it. The most recent time that I came, I enjoyed their happy hour. The apps were discounted and so we got a ton to try! We also got a paella (way too salty for my taste). All of the apps were delicious. The restaurant has a cool vibe and they also offer live music. Wait staff has always been amazing and helpful, but the hosts I've encountered have been very rude so be cautious of that. My girlfriends and I went here to celebrate a birthday. We found this place on Yelp and were so glad we gave it a try. The food was delicious, margarita was good, and service was amazing! Initially we were going to another restaurant and glad we decided to go here because wow best service we've had in a while. Our server was very welcoming and nice, always checked on us. Even other staff that walked by checked in! We went on a Friday night so there was live music. We got the halibut & shrimp ceviche, the sampler empanadas (it came with 3), and the traditional paella. They were all very good! My favorite was their empanadas! All 3 were so flavorful and the outside pastry was buttery and flakey. Delicious! Margaritas were good too! Really enjoyed my time here! We came for the live music, which starts at different times depending on the day (the schedule can be found on their website). We watched Robert Incelli's jazz solo; he was great. There was also a flamenco show, but we were not aware that we had to pay ahead of time for the show so we weren't able to see it. We didn't know it when we picked this place, but they have happy hour all day on Tuesdays and from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM from Wednesdays to Saturdays, which means tapas are 1/2 off. (In my opinion, the tapas would have been pretty expensive if they were discounted). Our waiter was very nice and considerate. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:45 PM, but our waiter made sure to put in all of our orders before the end of Happy Hour to make sure we would get the discounts. In terms of the food, my favorite tapa was the calamares fritos, followed by the brussels sprout. The halibut and shrimp ceviche was a little awkward in that the pieces of shrimp and halibut were quite large, which took away from my enjoyment of it, but I just cut them into smaller pieces. Taste wise, the ceviche was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the churros con chocolate. I felt like the churros con chocolate in Spain were much better, so if I came back here, I probably wouldn't order this again. But overall I would love to visit this restaurant again! read more

My wife and I visited Cafe Sevilla, drawn by their description of "authentic Spanish ambiance" since 1987, hoping to recapture some of the magic from our tapas experiences in Spain and in the USA (like Babareeba or Mercat in Chicago; Bodega in DC; Bulla or Tapas the Rosa in Miami). While we had an enjoyable evening, I am compelled to write this review to help others manage their expectations. The Good: Our server was excellent; attentive without being intrusive. The live singer created a lively, entertaining atmosphere, making for a fun night out. The traditional sangria pitcher was solid and exactly what you'd expect. The Disappointing: We ordered the "Journey Through Spain" and selected tortilla española, papas bravas, croquetas de jamón, and paella valenciana. The paella was underwhelming and rather bland. But what really prompted this review was the tortilla española. Instead of the traditional thick, round egg and potato "tortilla" I've enjoyed countless times in Spain and at other tapas restaurants, we received what I can only describe as a small (roughly 2-inch diameter) portion of boiled potatoes. It bore no resemblance to any tortilla española I've ever encountered. The papas bravas also missed the mark from what I expected from patatas bravas. Bottom Line: Cafe Sevilla offers a pleasant evening with good service and entertaining music, but if you're seeking an authentic Spanish tapas experience comparable to what you'd find at the restaurants I mentioned, you'll likely leave disappointed. We had fun, but this wasn't the tapas spot I'd hoped for.
