We went to Cafe Sevilla this weekend to catch the Mexico World Cup game and we had a great experience! First, our server was so attentive even though it was a packed house! What we love about this place is they have happy hour everyday from open to I believe 7, you can't beat that! The food and drinks: we got a tamarindo margarita and we liked it a lot. Good flavor although it could have used a bit more alcohol. For tapas we got: croquetas de queso y jamon (we loved them, they were probably our favorite), calamari (it was so good!), empanadas (my boyfriend said they were good), short rib tacos (they were okay but not the greatest), patatas bravas (only thing I wasn't a fan of). My family and I had dinner here a few nights ago and the overall experience was very underwhelming. It was our first time here and as we walked in, we weren't really greeted by the hostess. She didn't really have a friendly nor welcoming demeanor which kind of bummed us out but whatever maybe it just wasn't her day. We were sat inside and our table had a booth area. Well, we sat down and noticed the booth wasn't very clean and there were crumbs in the holes where buttons were missing. My 2 year old even found an earring! They should really consider deep cleaning that thing before they open. We made our way to the restroom to wash our hands and the sink had stones in it. We noticed long strands of hair in there mixed in with the stones. The cleanliness standards were lacking to say the least. The food was OK, service was lacking, probably won't be back. read more

We had divided paella with half seafood paella in squid ink and half meat paella. The portion was generous, and the flavor was excellent. The beef empanadas were fluffy and tasty. The olive bread with garlic aoli was exceptional. The tortilla espanola with short rib was just OK. The service was friendly. However, the loud music and dancing inside the restaurant negatively impacted the overall dining experience. The noise level was too much even in the outdoor seating area. We had another great meal at Cafe Sevilla. The food was so good authentic and flavorful. The problem was it was so loud that we could not enjoy our meal, which brings me to the conclusion that that this is a nightclub and not so much a restaurant. It is a shame because the food is really good. We tried to sit outside around the back of the bar. They have speakers mounted above each table and the house band is loud. For tapas, we ordered bacon wrapped dates. They were very flavorful and had bleu cheese inside. The baked beef empanadas were extremely tasty and had lots of meat inside. The traditional paella tasted absolutely delicious. It had a generous amount of mussels, clams, chicken, and sausage. Service: our server was friendly and helpful. Cafe Sevilla has been open since 1987. It is located in downtown Costa Mesa at Triangle Square. Cafe Sevilla is at tapas bar, restaurant & nightclub. They have live music and sometimes dance they have a full bar. The place is clean and really pretty inside and out. They even have brunch and salas dance classes if you are up to that. We just dined there. It can get crowded so make a reservation. It is also loud when there is music or dancing and all of it is great fun. You can hear each other. Just sit close. The service is amazing and the servers will help you with the wonderful tapas menu. The menu has something for everyone. We the shareable plates. Their TORTILLA ESPAÑOLA which is a traditional Potato & Egg Tart with wonderful roasted garlic, tomato and goat cheese served warm with greens. Their GAMBAS AL AJILLO which is shrimp made with roasted garlic, chile arbor and white wine was our favorite. All of it is great. They have rooms for private events, but I don't know about that. My friends and I came here tonight at 8:40 for dinner. The hostess at the stand seemed very tired and uninterested in speaking to us. When we left the restaurant she was on her phone texting and didn't say goodbye or look up from her phone. The other hostess who brought us to our table had a very bitter attitude and made deciding where to sit extremely complicated for no reason. She was also rolling her eyes as soon as we began speaking, and was using a very unpleasant tone; this all really dampened the beginning of our experience. Our server was great except for the fact that she forgot to bring us water after asking three separate times. Besides that she was really nice, we were just very thirsty throughout the dinner. Cafe Sevilla This place is honestly another favorite spots in Orange County. I've even bought gift cards here just to give to family because I love it that much. The whole experience is what makes it special--the ambiance, the Latin flavors, the service, everything is on point. But what really sets it apart is the folklórico dance performance. You don't just eat here, you get a full experience. It feels like a beautiful little piece of Spain brought to Costa Mesa. The dinner is like a full three-course experience while you watch the dancers, and it's just so memorable and unique. If you're in Orange County, this is a must-visit spot--you really should treat yourself at least once. Also, if you stay after dinner, it opens up into a club and you don't have to pay entrance into the club. They have a nice bar outside, so the ambience is flowing Ali he with drinks. The evenings that I've stayed after they have two rooms OK they have a DJ room and then they have the band room, I don't know if they have a band every single night but the times I've been there they do and I like that you one room is very club vibe and then you can go into the band room and it's more like salsa lit up vibing. The Sangria Royal with liquor 43 is fantastic! The grilled octopus Romesco was excellent. The croquettes and the patatas bravas were okay. I love Spanish food! Service was friendly and on point. Mia made me feel welcomed. It is nice that there is a big parking structure. This location also has the flamenco show every other Saturday. That is always si much fun. We came here with some friends who were visiting from out of town. I really liked the vibe, and I thought the restaurant itself was really pretty. However, I don't think I would come here again. They sat us at the smallest table known to mankind. The table would have barely comfortably have fit 2 - let alone 4. We are big foodies so we like to order a little of everything, and we were not able to do so. The table only fit 3 appetizers. We could not even order our food until we were done because we would have had nowhere to put it. We ordered another appetizer and asked the server if we could be moved to a bigger table in the main room. Luckily they were able to accommodate us, and we felt like we could actually breathe and enjoy our food. The food was really good - do NOT skip the kalamata fresh load. It was some of the best bread I have ever had. The paella was mid. The braised short rib was also just okay. They had live music playing which was nice. Celebrated our friend's birthday here on a Saturday evening. We had a reservation for a party of 8 and sat outdoors, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the colorful sky during sunset. Fortunately, we had Tee as our sweet, patient, and helpful server! Tee walked us through different items on the menu and gave us recommendations on the best way to order for our group size. Out of those items, the dishes that stood out to me were: - Papa Bravas - Paella Valenciana - Carne Brocheta - Cordero Brocheta - Pan Con Tomate (the olive bread is amazing) I always see Cafe Sevilla, but I never felt like I needed to go because I try to avoid that whole plaza in general (there are lots of hella lit people there from the club on the first floor, and I am usually not in the mood to deal with a bunch of drunk people). After actually experiencing it, I really like this place and will definitely be coming back. I was very surprised and pleased with the food and the service we received. I admire Tee's hospitality, especially on a busy evening. Food was amazing, but Tee brought our dining experience to a whole new level. Parking-wise, there are plenty at the structure. At 10 pm, I was told that a part of the restaurant turns into a dance club that plays R&B, Hip Hop, with a Latin mix. Papas - first time I've had soggy / plain pattatas a la brava. You're supposed to get a good crunch and some zing with this dish. Dates - too much cheese and it's too sweet. Should be complimentary but both of the flavors were overwhelming. Boquerones- not enough vinegar flavor. Wish it was more fish less bread / other elements going on. The good! Wish it had more socarrat. The waiter was very nice and came to our table enough times that we felt taken care of but not bothered. Keep note there is a dress code, but not sure if they strictly enforce it. We sat outside and it was quite chilly but their outside warmers were enough for a temperate evening. I go to Sevilla usually once a week on Sundays, for Salsa/Bachata dancing. And while I love the event, I have to say the fact that this establishment still allows SMOKING on the patio is really disturbing. People are actively moving therefore they breathe that disgusting stuff twice as much. And don't let me start on breathing that while eating! For me personally...I already ended up in the hospital, because of second hand smoking, once. And I really don't want to do it again. Also what would be handy...is another LIVE bartender. I use to love coming here. Even have celebrated birthdays here but I just came on Thursday for the half off tapas all night and was confused when I got the bill and it was all full price. Then I showed the bartender the website that states half off tapas all night Wednesday and Thursday so they should honor what they post. I was invited for a bday party and for a table of 14 I think it was and we were sat outside at the table with a built in fireplace. Our servers were Isaac and Mia. They did great in managing our table requests. I got a variety of tapas to share as well as a dinner for two to share amongst the people in my area. The pulpo, the beef empanadas, the gambas al ajillo, the paella valenciana, the salchichas, croquetas, and the ceviche were all really good. Among toppings prawns are especially flavorful, followed by salmon that's tasty, but the mussels and crams are without flavor, if they dipped it with paella while cooking that would be better. Nice popular restaurant and dance club in Costa Mesa / Newport Beach area. I can't believe that this is the first time we have been to this seemingly popular place. We came on a Sunday evening to celebrate a birthday party. We had reservations and our take was ready but we didn't like the table and they accommodated us outside with combing a few other tables. You can bring your dog if you are sitting outside which is very convenient. It was happy hour (before 7) all tapas are half off. I had their short rib tacos for dinner which was very tasty. Only complaint would be that the chimichuri made it super oily. I also tried the lamb sliders that were delightful. On toasted ciabatta bread with caramalizes onions. The Brussels sprouts were out of this world. I had only one piece. My wife got the paella. She rated it (4/5). Mainly I deducted a star given the fact that as soon as we sat down the told us that the were out of seafood. So our paella had mushrooms on top instead of shrimp ;) We enjoyed the live music at the bar and at the same time there was a dancing session going on in the main ballroom. Stopped by for happy hour before a show at Segerstrom. It's a huge restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. I love the big palapa style roofs that give you the outdoor vibes. There were a lot of happy hour specials for both drinks and food and we took advantage of both. The drinks were great and the tapas delicious. Both times I've been here, the restaurant itself is super cold and moving seats doesn't help so it's unfortunate on that end because it's a spot that wearing a dress is nice but too cold. It was mostly for the brunch deal that made this place worth it. The most recent time that I came, I enjoyed their happy hour. The apps were discounted and so we got a ton to try! We also got a paella (way too salty for my taste). All of the apps were delicious. The restaurant has a cool vibe and they also offer live music. However very disappointed with the kitchen as they are not even willing to provide some gluten free bread, crackers or even some tortilla chips as alternatives.
