After finally asking a fifth person, we were told, "Oh, I think it's broken." Everything took so long that we eventually had to go inside just to pay our tab. There was also an uncomfortable inconsistency with how guests were treated. I noticed several people were vaping outside, yet only one person was singled out by a host and very rudely told, "DON'T DO THAT." The issue wasn't that they were asked to stop. It was the tone and the fact that multiple other people were doing the exact same thing without being addressed. I've been to several rooftop bars here in San Francisco and in other cities, and unfortunately this was by far one of the worst service experiences I've had. I realize the last time I was here was pre COVID, when this rooftop was Everdene at the Virgin Hotel. I was here for a company event back then, and the experience from then to now is truly night and day. Beautiful views, but the service really took away from the entire experience.

Finally a Hotel bar in SF worth going to as a local! Obscenity is located in Hotel Emblem, cool literary theme with an upscale, modern, edgy vibe. Great cocktails, great bartenders! Cocktails on the menu are fantastic but the bartenders will create custom drinks on the spot after asking you about your likes and dislikes. Amazing. And The Summer Place definitely hits that mark. For Halloween, they had a ton of Nightmare Before Christmas decor adorning every square inch of the interior real estate. It's a relatively small bar, so seating or standing areas may be tough to come by on crowded nights, but if you hang around, something seems to usually open up. The drinks are all fun and pretty good too - nothing too crazy, but consistently enjoyable and creative, with prices that won't break the bank. We tried just about every drink on their Halloween menu, from Oogie Boogie's Bog Water to Worm Wort, and found them all quite good. The servers have all been very kind and really contribute to the fun atmosphere. This is one of those bars that feels like a true neighborhood haunt, where everyone is a regular and knows each other. So if you're looking for a fun, mildly chaotic, quintessential neighborhood bar experience with good drinks and a great energy in the Tendernob area, The Summer Place is your place!
