My favorite dish by far was the mole enchiladas. I ordered my enchiladas with mushrooms instead of meat. The mole was the star of the dish! The savory and smoky notes with the (unsweetened) dark chocolate offered an unforgettable flavor -- combined with the tender mushroom filling made the dish complete. The staff was friendly. The waiter we had was phenomenal AND THE FOOD!!!!! My husband had some of the best mole I've had in a while. Even having mole is a major plus for me because I don't see it often. I got the Huarache and it was FABULOUS. 10/10 . First time in Eureka and craving Mexican food I checked out reviews in the area and found Oaxaca grill. I came in with some hungry coworkers and the first thing we tried were the chips and salsa which we enjoyed. The salsa they claimed was spicy didn't taste spicy at all to any of us but still good flavor. We ordered the grilled chicken, carnitas, and a burrito. My meal included a salad and the salad bar was really good that I had to get a second plate. Our meals came out in reasonable time and everything was 'HOT'. Everyone enjoyed their meals and one of us ordered fried ice cream. The service was great and the food was good. read more

After eating here for many years, I am surprised there is no review from me. Their Oaxaca Mama Salsa (I love med) is sold in our local grocery stores. It is the best fresh salsa to my taste buds since I discovered it. Before Covid, we loved walking to Oaxaca for an early dinner. Now, during Coved-19: You call ahead, and they bring the food out to you in your car. It can be totally non-contact, or go in (wearing a face mask to keep restaurant employees safe no matter your vaccination status) to pay and they bring the food out to your car. I missed having a margarita with dinner when eating in here at Oaxaca Grill, and I was very happy to find they make a killer margarita to-go (Show ID), to have it at home with the meal. Everything I have ordered over the years has been delicious here. Thankfully, I live close enough to get food to go and be home in five minutes by car and the food will be piping hot & cold stuff in a separate bag. To-go only, makes sense for small restaurant owners during this pandemic. This is a small family restaurant, we appreciate beyond measure and want them to all stay safe. We support our local restaurants by ordering to go at least once or twice a month. Truth be known, I am tired of my own cooking. read more

What a gem! Friendly people, lovely and not kitchy decor. And food that is simply wonderful. I had carnitas, my wife had the Gordita. Both were out of this world wonderful. The pork in the carnitas was tender, flavorful and there was more than plenty for a meal. The avocado pico was very nicely done, the rice and beans amazingly good. It was a lot of food and all of it delicious. I had started my lunch with the trip to the salad bar, and that was one of the nicest selections of goodies I've seen at a salad bar in ages. The Gordita was amazing! My wife ordered it a la carte, and that turned out to be still more than enough for anyone. Tender masa pattie enveloping a delightful variety of fresh and perfectly cooked vegies, topped with a lovely pile of vegies and greens and cojito cheese. The two varieties of salsa offered with the chips were simply amazing. I would buy bottles of each of them, and make the three hour trip to Eureka often just for those salsas. We will definitely return on our trips through Eureka, and could only wish we had as good an offering closer to us. We're so glad we found this little gem. read more

We've been here a few times before, and I've always been happy with the food. Yesterday, I ordered the garlicky prawn tacos, and blown away. They're SO GOOD. They're simple - I think only the garlicky prawns and caramelized onions are the only ingredients - so the flavors were spotlighted. I live in Oregon but go through Cali fairly often and I like to bring people here whenever we're on our way through Humboldt and it never disappoints, even SoCal folks are surprised at how good and authentic the food is here. We were traveling and stopped in Eureka for the evening. On a whim, we went here. It has a very neighborhood-like quality that I liked. It wasn't too big, the staff were very friendly and the service was prompt. The salsa was delicious. The spicy version seemed a little more smoky than spicy, but it was enjoyable either way. They had a handful of local beers and the mango margarita was very strong. The food itself was delicious - everything seemed cooked perfectly and the serving size was generous. We stopped in from Seattle, but if we're ever back to Eureka we will be stopping in! read more

I ordered the tamale and enchilada a la carte. Pork tamale and shredded beef enchilada. Both were great and the salsa served with it had great flavor. We also had the super nachos with chicken. The chicken was a bit dry, but everything else was great. The chips were nice and thick, gave a great crunch and the "spicy" salsa was excellent and not overly spicy. We tried both desserts the coconut flan and the fried ice cream and they were pretty good as well. Our dinner decision tonight was based on previous Yelp reviews. Upon arrival we were seated immediately. From the banter between some of the customers and the servers, we could tell that this restaurant was really popular with the locals. The chips and two types of salsa were delicious and homemade and there was an excellent selection of beer. I ordered the Carnitas dinner which came with soup or salad as well as rice, beans and homemade tortillas. I chose the the Creamy Jalapeño soup as my first course. It was very tasty. My carnitas were perfectly prepared. The homemade flour tortillas were a great accompaniment. Antonio was our friendly and attentive server and was eager to please. For my husband and I plus baby our meal was $50. My carnitas plate had no flavor at all. :( Just really bland food all around. We wanted to love it but just couldnt. I had a veggie Tostada it was delicious but the rice was undercooked unfortunately and crunchy. Went here one other time when they weren't as busy and the food was even better so maybe that is something affects their quality unfortunately.
