We tried the rosemary olive focaccia and was hands down the best focaccia I've ever had hg far -- smooth soft texture just the right amount of seasoning -- flavorful but not overpowering. I arrived early and was excited to grab some fresh baked bread and the Truffle Cashew Creme Cheese. I had studied the menu before arriving and was amazed at their non dairy spread selections. I tried the Seeded Oat Sourdough, and some repeats from my last visit, a Sage Garlic and Date Almond bun. The Truffle Cashew Creme Cheese was unique and a welcome addition topped on the bread. This adorable bakery uses minimal and organic ingredients and I finally found a spot who makes their own non dairy cream cheese. If you have dietary restrictions, I highly reccomend checking out this bakery. The bread was so delicious and fresh and the service was welcoming and friendly. read more

Oat Bakery is the bakery you come to when searching for a high end quality baked bread. In my case I came specifically for the charcoal sesame sourdough loaf, and I was lucky they still had some. They tend to sell out quickly, so if you're wanting to try it, then come early! The cost $20, kinda steep yes but you pay for the love and quality of ingredients that go into creating this beautiful loaf of bread. You won't find it anywhere else and it's something well worth treating yourself to. Other items I have tried are their popular superseed cookie. Made with dates, walnuts, sesame, oats and chocolate chips. This cookie is thick, hearty and you can't stop eating it! I loved that it's filled with healthy and wholesome ingredients that will keep you satisfied. It really is like eating a meal in itself. The shiitake shallot bun was a random pick on my visit, full of flavor and enjoyable with some butter slathered on it. The Frosnapper is a must try! Oat my God the first bite is a flaky stick of heavenly flavors bursting in your mouth. It's made with almond marzipan, and coated with sesame & poppy seeds. You'll definitely want to order more than just one. This bakery has several locations in town, but it's not a bakery you can dine at. It's pretty much walk-in, order and take it to go. Depending on which location you visit; the one in Montecito has outside seating areas to sit at. The customer service is ok, but I feel they could improve on making me feel more welcomed. Oat was one of the best places we went during our time in Santa Barbara. We tried it early on during our trip and couldn't stop talking about it and returned to get more. I ordered the country sourdough and sage garlic loaf which were both delicious. The kind of bread that you can just rip a piece off and eat plain--and it still tastes good! The sourdough was the perfect texture, great with eggs or for avocado toast/sandwiches. And the sage garlic loaf was packed with flavor. We really enjoyed eating it with a little butter or dipping it in some balsamic. It was the perfect side dish to have with dinner! It's on the pricier side for bread, however the quality and clean ingredients make it worth it! I will 100% be back to try other menu items. Such a cute European bakery! Love their exterior decor - this is a small shop that offers a variety of breads & pastries. We stopped by in the morning, about an hour after they opened and so they were fully stocked with everything! Based on their recommendation, we picked out a few pastries for breakfast. Of our selects, the frøsnapper was my favorite! We also got the savory hygge and the hygge bun (which tasted like a healthy vegan cinnamon bun). The staff was super friendly and nice. They also greeted our pup and offered her a treat, which she took graciously. Now I only wish I had grabbed another frøsnapper! read more

High quality pastries. I've liked everything I've tried: date+almond loaf, flakey goat cheese tart, those sweet cinnamon twists, and some other baked goods with fancy foreign names I am forgetting. It's not cheap. Unless you deny what your heart wants, its tough to escape for under $20. Worth it though. Note: the one thing I did not enjoy from here was a seed bread. I typically love non-sweet, nutty, earthy kinds of breads, but the one I got here was a tad underbaked and frankly tasted a bit sour. It was sort of squishy in the middle and I regretted spending the cash on it. However, a friend whose food taste I respect said their seed bread is awesome, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and attribute it to a "bad batch". For the out-of-towners: swing by Oat Bakery if you crave truly high-quality pastries made with care and wholesome ingredients. But it you're a casual breadster who just wants a cheap sugar/gluten fix, this isn't the spot! Head to Ralphs or Vons and get the generic pastries in the plastic containers. read more

I ordered the Sourdough Focaccia, ($8) made from organic sourdough starter, organic unbleached wheat flour, and organic olive oil. The flavor at the time was rosemary and cheese. It was so delicious. My partner had the The Hygge bun, which is their version of a cinnamon roll. ($6). He loved it! It's a lovely place to get delicious bread. read more

Unique European bakery. Very cute and tiny. There seems to be a line all the time. We bought a cinnamon bun a breadstick that looks like a pretzel filled with marzipan and a seed cookie which we haven't tried yet. We had the cinnamon bun today and also the pretzel looking bread filled with marzipan and it was delicious. Super fresh and tasty. I've never had anything like this. In fact I prefer this over a donut or the pastries I recently had at Alessia Bakery which is my favorite bakery in Santa Barbara. I would like to come here every morning during my vacation in Santa Barbara this week. It's probably the most special thing I've had. Highly recommended. The cutest Scandinavian bakery - loved the blue theme all throughout the bakery. And it's so fun to watch the bakers baking the pastries and loaves right as you walk in. I came here with my husband the other day after we heard how good their gluten free bread is. I was pleased to find this bakery is not exclusively gluten free, and had regular options too. We tried three of their small round GF loafs and I also got a small cinnamon roll thingy. LOVED the cinnamon roll - highly recommended. The GF bread is probably among the best GF bread we've tried so far too. I especially enjoyed the almond date bread. Staff was friendly and professional, and I thought the prices were fair. It was my first time here and, honestly, I thought it was going to taste like cardboard, lol. Nope, it was DELICIOUS. Perfectly sweet. The only thing I'm not quite sure of is if it was supposed to be doughy in the center. I was afraid it was raw, so I just ate around it. I couldn't go back because I was already on the road. I went to Oat Bakery because I just love freshly made bread. They had a few gluten free options that my husband can enjoy. I like that you don't have to order full sized loaves and can order smaller half or third portions. I wish I ordered a full size Tomato and Shallot Focaccia (5 stars). Every bite of it was delicious. The memorable flavor combination of the tomatoes and shallots added savory and umami notes to the soft and fluffy focaccia. There was also a little rosemary that complemented and didn't steal the spotlight from the primary flavors. The Super Seed Bread (4 stars) is a hearty gluten bread filled with lots of whole grains and seeds. It's unique and nothing I've had before. The nutrient and fiber packed bread is filling with just a small portion. I liked their recommendation to heat it up on cast iron pan with butter. The service (5 stars) was excellent. It's been a while since I've been to a bakery with sincerely friendly smiles where they took the time to explain their products and get to know their customers. I'm used to the pressure to quickly choose and brief responses to my questions. The bread is fresh so they recommend refrigerating or freezing it you don't eat it all the same day. If I lived in Santa Barbara, then I would definitely go here regularly. read more

It's like a cozy feeling when having a slice in the morning with tea or coffee or later in the day with a sandwich or part of charcuterie. The country sourdough is delicious but beautiful. Perfect for that Avo toast or sandwich, or just drizzle olive oil on a slice. The rosemary olive focaccia is perfect with a generous amount of green olives on top. Perfect to eat alone or with some meats and cheeses. They have a variety of different bread types and sizes.
