Oasis Texas - 15 empty table in an eye shot but it's a 45 minute wait. Never enough waiters here at the oasis on lake Travis. - Shopping Centers Near Me - Austin, Texas

Great view of the lake and sunset. Terrible service. The food was lukewarm at best and poor quality for a premium price. The food took over an hour. We sat with empty drinks for 40 minutes. When we mildly complained about the food we were asked if we wanted the check. I will never return to this over crowded tourist trap. read more

1 Star for beautiful sunset and lake view, but that's it. We came around 5 p.m. on Saturday and waiting time was min 2h. Which is O.K. However, we have spent another 2 hours until we receive our COLD, NOT good food. No wonder they have 2h waiting time!!! It looks like they stretch time, so customers would order more drinks from bar. Considering the fact that it is TexMex restaurant, why it takes kitchen forever to make a food? The waiter was nice and polite, but he brought us cold food, that means that the food was ready long time ago and it took him a while to bring it. They must be short on staff. Conclusion. Really good view, you can stop by and take some pictures with sunset, trust me it is worst it. Don't spend your time and money, this is not a restaurant! Not even close to restaurants. Management of this place should never work in restaurant business. The only reason people are still going there - it is view of the nature, but that's it. Be smarter, eat at another place, and stop by close to sunset to capture memories of Austin. AGAIN. DO NOT COME TO EAT THIS PLACE. read more

We came here to check out the reception areas and we were impressed. Adam gave us a tour of each room. He went over seating and other options. Each room had an amazing view of Lake Travis. The rain has helped replenish the low water so it looks even more awesome. We ate at the restaurant after the tour. We were seated in an awkward area right in the waiting area next to the bar. We were told we would have to be put back on the wait list for another hour if we wanted new seating. I ate an Applewood bacon BLT. Instead of jalapeño cheddar bread I asked for a substitute. They didn't give me hard time about my request. I got a pretzel bun instead. My fiancée got some fajitas. We had an appetizer of dips which included guacamole and queso. We also received salsa and chips. The food is ok. I would come back here just for the view. Since we had to drive back to Dallas we didn't drink. Next time we return I believe we will just have lots of drinks and an appetizer. The view is romantic. There is valet for $5. Lots of places to shop while you wait for a spot. Our wait was 1 1/2 hour. There are lots of people. Staff is friendly and super busy. Our waiter was a bit frazzled. I don't think the experience was terrible. We'll return and maybe even have our wedding here. read more

5 star breathtaking views, 5 star service(at least from the dude that kept serving in the middle on a hurricane esc...storm and winds) and he kept bringing us margaritas even after literally everyone left for safe havens inside, you my dude are the real MVP. Anyway the chips and salsa were surprisingly good! Drinks were pour heavy, huge plus but again I came for view but I expect the food would be subpar given the reviews but please don't let that deter you plus there a brewery for your beer tasting needs that make the trip worth it. Come and be astounded. read more

Showed up on a Friday night no reservations and it was only a half hour wait. Wandered up to the brewery and had 2 tasters were told we could bring it along. Buzzer rang were seated immediately with a view got to see a shooting star told the waiter to take his time. Then Dylan Forsythe came over guessing he is the manager to check on us and comped us a round and took our order now that's service. Doesn't hurt that he is super cute and nice too. The four of us had surf and turf for 2 and the steak and the veggie fajita and the tuna rojas. Everyone was more than satisfied with their meal and we got checked on at least twice by Dylan personally. All in all an amazing experience and a solid food deal for the price and the view. No complaints here folks. If you are in texas this is definitely a must do. read more

Don't go here for the food, go for the spectacular views! The food is average.

The only good thing is the view. The quesadillas were below average, the salad was not even edible... the dressing tasted like ice cream and the chicken was freezing and not even fully cooked! read more

You cannot beat the view of Lake Travis. It is a dynamic place to have some drinks and explore the shops surrounding the restaurant. Probably one of the best views in Texas when sipping on a cold beer or margarita. The food leaves something to be desired. It is sufficient to eat but nothing to write home about. I had a shrimp dish and wasn't impressed. The others in my part felt the same way but I did spot a good looking burger. Next time I will try one of those along with tempering my expectations on the food. Don't be shy about the cold ones because the longer you sit the better the view becomes. read more

The only reason why I gave this place 2 stars was because of the view. The view was wonderful! The waitress was completely rude and unprofessional and decided to call my friend a names while talking to her other coworkers, fortunately my friend just happened to be within earshot. The gentleman who served us afterwards was so friendly and so nice, you really made our experience a lot better! We were there to celebrate the elopement of my my dear friends, who decided to fly into Texas just to get married. So essentially this was their reception, Which was my gift to them. To be honest given the popularity and fame of this place I expected a lot better. The food was so so - honestly I've had better texmex at the Taqueria. I do plan on returning because I do believe in second chances so hopefully my next trip will be a better one. Plus that view! read more

The view of the lake was excellent. The food and service were not so much. Our server acted like he didn't wanted to be there. Long story short, left my Oakley sunglasses case at the table (which had my prescription glasses in it). Went back for it a few minutes later and asked the server if he saw them and he just basically ignored me and told me to go ask the Hostess. How can you not see something that was left on the table just a few seconds ago while he was the one cleaning the table.. Smh This place is definitely a tourist trap for sure. 2 stars for the lake view. read more

This is the absolute best spot to catch the sunset with a drink in hand. We went here after dinner. The drinks were quite good and the sunset was the best we saw all week. Baby friendly! They gave us a stand to hold the car seat in and had a fan on top of us which meant a strong breeze and the bugs were kept abay...which is all we needed. We had heard the food wasn't great and given the dessert we shared.. I think it's safe to say that you go here for the atmosphere and view. I'd definitely be back on a future visit! read more

Unbelieveable view, service and food oks. It is a big place (easily more than 1000 tables) so don't expect a tailored service. The food is just okay, it is like being at McDonalds but with an awesome view. In a good weather, don't forget the sun blocker. read more

My BFF and I drive in from Houston and stopped to visit. We had a blast. The place is crazy busy, but so much to see and explore. They have the prettiest gardens, landscape and theirs not a bad place to take a pic. The food isn't as authentic as I'd like, but it arrived quick with such friendly service. They don't split checks, but made an exception. You'll enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. read more

The Oasis on Lake Travis is about a beautiful view as anyone could ask for, sitting about 300-400 feet above the lake. The food was decent, the service was good, but the view was the one thing that made it amazing! One negative part is you wait in a line at the bar to get a drink while you wait for a table. Don't sit at the bar and expect them to come acknowledge you. But other than that, I would highly recommend going there. The drive to the restaurant is breath taking, especially if you don't live in the hill country part of Texas. read more

Going to give it three stars because the surrounding area is an amazing sight, even to just drive around. The shops aren't doing so hot..! The shops are mostly closed and believe them to be open during certain seasons. I imagine during the summer, most shops will be open. Maybe even during spring and fall. Going during winter time, it was a complete ghost town and not even the shops that had signs of their opening hours of that day, they were still closed. LOL. In any case, the view of the lake certainly makes up for it, but would only recommend if you are in area (aka find yourself in Austin and don't actually mind driving here since it can be a bit far!!) I recommend to go at around 2pm-7pm if you have problems seeing, the winding roads up and down the hills can be quite a challenge. Unless you have all seeing vision at night! XD Def. try to stay for the sunset that peeks over the lake though!! I liked going to the OASIS restaurant for the best view and to just chillax over a couple of drinks and maybe some desert!!! Also, lots of opportunity to take pictures, take a heart shaped padlock for your date. Would make it a very memorable night out for couples!! read more

The worst place ever the service is very bad waiters are full of themselves and disrespectful, the bathroom is gross basically a knock off Mexican restaurant. But to be honest the view is beautiful but I would never dine there again read more

I live only 3 miles from this place and over the years there have been vast improvements in both the service and food served. That said, they still have a ways to go. The grounds have been expanded and improved, turning it into a mall of sorts which adds to the feel of the place (which given the view alone was already excellent.) A few years back I had false tips added to my check on 2 of the 5 times I visited, but that seems to have stopped and as a result, I frequent this place once a month, instead of once a year. Hopefully they'll keep up the good work and perhaps even get some organics, grass fed beef, etc. read more

You're going for the view! That's pretty much all there is to say. After looking at the prices on the menu and then reading my first sentence you can put two and two together. Recently I went to Oasis to eat lunch. What really wowed me were the chips and the service. The waiter was the best. I finished my drink and in 3 minutes got a refill. The food was on time. View was spectacular! However, our waitress showed up at our table every 5 minutes. We went in the late afternoon and we just wanted to order drinks and a appetizer, hang out and get dinner later while enjoying the sunset. It was super annoying, and that's the reason she lost a good tip. She was extremely rude after we tipped her the minimum, and was very unprofessional to say the least. We had to leave because she just wouldn't let us be even though 80% of the tables were free. We felt like we were kicked out...2 stars for services, 5 stars for the view. read more

Up : The view, the building and place Down : pretty everything else. Food is ok at best. The service is slow. And the noise of the fan were just horrible the floor was shaking because of it. Pros: Drop by for the awesome sunset view of the lake and great live music. Cons: Don't go if you cannot handle enormous crowds, waiting forever for your table and bad food. We were told that it would take 1.5 hours to be seated. After deciding to move upstairs to the live music / seat yourself area, we conquered a table after 45 minutes. I ordered fish tacos which arrived about an hour later, they were cold. Requested new (warm) tacos which arrived about half an hour later.. they arrived lukewarm and were not very good. Conclusion: will not come back here for food. However, props for our waitress Courtney who managed to be very attentive & nice in (what seemed to be) extremely awful working conditions. Give her a raise! :) read more

Well... I was very underwhelmed by the food. For the amount we paid, I would have expected better quality. I guess you really come here for the view, though, which is phenomenal! Hubby and I got the fajitas and, let's just say, I get better fajitas at Chili's for a fraction of the price. I say, come here to grab a few drinks (which aren't overwhelmingly great either) and enjoy the view. Then head elsewhere for dinner. read more

Awesome biggest restaurant I have ever been to. Beautiful sunset. Awesome place. Don't go for the food. Still go, But not for the food. Well actually we never had a chance to order. He sat us at 9:15pm..closes at 10pm. We didn't know that. Our waiter took our appetizer and that was all she wrote. Never asked us what we wanted for dinner, no drink order. Guess he didn't want to work late. Great flatbread appetizer. crappy menu..ho-hum boring items...nice view would go back. Eat first somewhere else and then order water and an appetizer. read more

Lazy Friday afternoon, not busy. The views are amazing. No question. Good from that standpoint. Wait staff us slow and inefficient. Loooooong wait for food and drinks ran dry. I don't know why all the haters are out to hate but my husband and I had a lovely time at this establishment. Granted the drinks were rather pricey but I would not trade the sunset experience we shared with any other blah-sey chilis-esque environment. If you're a nature lover who cares about the food. We had several drinks that were definitely not watered down. Also the torte was chocolate heaven and just happened to be gluten free. Love! read more

Have always loved coming to the Oasis. The view is amazing and the food is usually not too bad. Unfortunately, they seem to be declining, as of late. Guess they figure people will come and pay premium prices for sub-standard food simply because of the setting! While I don't mind doing the same, I definitely cannot tolerate terrible table-service and rude wait staff, which was much of my experience this last time. I often come with large parties - especially large groups of teachers during conferences and have never had a problem. Yesterday when I decided to go to the Oasis with my family to celebrate my sister's graduation, the experience was much different. Poor service, rude wait staff, refusal to work with our table to even pay the bill and then several in our party were called outright liars because the wait staff could not figure out how to handle three checks. Beyond humiliating and inexcusable. Worst dining experience ever. I often recommend this restaurant to everyone who comes to Austin, but never again. I really wish we had gone to Hula Hut instead, like some of the others in our party wanted. I'm sure we would not have had such a poor experience there. I wish I could leave no stars because that's really what this restaurant has come down to. Now I know why so many reviews labeled this place a dump. read more

While the food wasn't great, it wasn't bad either. We arrived on a busy day and received poor service from the wait staff as well as from the management. While sitting outside a small rainstorm happened to open up above us, we asked the available manager if we could move under the balcony to one of the many open tables and his response was "let me check". Ahem, your a manager.... Who do you need to check with? Regardless, he never returned and we ate our mediocre food while huddling under an array of umbrellas while attempting to keep both the food and ourselves dry. The sad part is that we used to come here before the place burned down and was rebuilt and never had anything but pleasant experiences. I guess things have really changed for the "new" Oasis. read more
