What a great place to park yourself in front of for the Warrior parade. They opened up at 8:30 am to sell exclusive Warriors shirts and the line was out the door and down the block. Q102 was bumpin' all the bay classic slaps and 95.7 The Game was also broadcasting the parade and tossing shirts into the crowd. The shop is a great place to pick up all things related to the Town from shirts and jeans to candy and spices. The staff was friendly and more than happy to get you whatever you needed / wanted. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the O... Go Dubs! And thank you Oaklandish for doing your part to keep local mom and pop shops thriving and for keeping all of the fans within earshot noddin' their heads and getting Hyphy when the floats and busses made their way down Broadway... Hella dope tshirts! This place is hella dope in general. They carry home-grown, authentic Oakland swag. My boyfriend bought me a very cool tshirt from here and I also bought my brother a Golden State Warriors tshirt for his birthday. In his words, the tee was "So sick!" If you want to gift wrap your item, you pay a few extra bucks and they give you a gift box and a cool Oaklandish canvas bag. Only knocking down a star because when my boyfriend bought my tshirt, he paid the extra money but didn't receive the canvas bag (I guess it's his fault for not asking about it?). Review #400 - woot! Oaklandish is a consistent stop for me, as it is a couple of blocks from school pickup and meandering downtown/uptown Oakland is a favorite pastime. Plus being next to Bittersweet is a bonus. Anyway, always come in to check out the product and what they're going to sell out of soon. You think you see Oaklandish at their trucks, but when you know something you want, then the store is the real place to grab it fast - like the sweatshirt with the different color sleeves, or any A's gear, etc. I really do like that there are special items you have to get before they sell out - makes them completely unique. The deep V's for women are awesome....a crew neck on me makes me look completely dowdy. Plus they're tapped into the community and represent that in their items....very important. I've followed Oaklandish's progress since a friend's best friend and her husband started this years ago - 2002? The logo is great. Always nice to see the Oaklandish truck on Saturdays at the Farmers' Market on Lakeshore. J and I visited the Broadway store on "Plaid Friday" after T-day. Laughed at the Hammertime panties. Bought a tee shirt for my 1.5 year old niece and a felt bunny that was supposed to be for my niece as well but ended up keeping it and giving it to J (to keep him company on his month long biz trip). I uploaded a picture of "Fat Bunny" and J's breakfast. Spent around $70 for a tee shirt + small felt bunny. Pricey but unique gifts. I like supporting local businesses. Service is reasonable. My cashier obligingly looked for another t-shirt in the back so I could compare the screen print to the one in my hand. I noticed another cashier was giving out Oaklandish bags, so I requested one. I just read in another review that one cashier gave out free stickers and temporary tattoos. Will know to ask next time. Parking: Metered. Got lucky and got rock star parking. Unfortunately the ticket dispenser was broken so J had to wander a block or two before finding one that worked. read more

Cool store and shirts. However they use different shirt brands for different designs. That means the sizes are all different. I usually have to try on the T-shirts in the store. Although this store has a few cool things, shopper beware! They do not accept returns, regardless! They will only offer a store credit if an item doesn't work for you. I purchased a shirt for my husband, being told to size up as it ran small ($145). This was not the case. The next day I tried to exchange it for a smaller size, which they did not have. In fact they had nothing similar in the smaller size. They were unwilling to work with me and refund my credit card, even though I had purchased additional items totaling over $500, which I wasn't returning. A store credit didn't work for me as I live in a different state. Sadly, not a good experience. read more

Oaklandish is my favorite place. Whether you're an Oakland native or not, this store will make you love Oakland. On top of hip t-shirt designs, trendy knick-knacks, and a cozy storefront, the Oaklandish mission is one I can get behind. They're a B-Corporation, and according to their website, give back to local grassroots organizations and locally source all of their artwork and merchandise. I've bought many a t-shirt, patch, pin, and trinket at Oaklandish, and have never been disappointed with the service. The employees helped me find the t-shirts I wanted and even figured out the right size that works best for me. Not to mention, they are extremely friendly and personable. They really personify the sense of community and love I feel in Oakland. Although the pricing seems a bit steep for my small, student bank account ($30 for a t-shirt), I'm happy to give that money to a local business that supports the community as opposed to a big- box, corporate retailer. read more

But Brandon acted as excited about the 10th mission to the back room as he did the first - it was a relief b/c i didn't want to be asking over and over. I did the mistake of walking into this store, which has a very cool selection of threads and more, thinking their approach to their customers would be just as cool, too. Not so. The Oaklandish Tree symbol is a complete icon for the Bay Area. So how could I resist not buying some cute oufits for my Lil' John. Not only is my baby going to be cute but the most style'n in the Bay. He has a dark blue onsie with the Bay bridge scene and a dark green one with the iconic Oaklandish tree. Also, I bought an Oaklandish shirt for my dad once. He is the most style'n dad in upstate New York. Or should I say Grandpa?... My only complaint is I bought my things on line and when your order is done message says an email will be sent to you when your order ships. I never got that email. Then right after I placed my order I saw I inputted the wrong shipping zip code. I sent an email to customer service and didn't get a reply as to if it was changed. I had to write a second email asking if my original email was ever recieved. Someone got back to me and appologized for the delay and told me that my order "should" have shipped out that week. I really liked the whole "Neo-Soul" vibe of this shop. From the music they played to the very friendly and personable staff, this shop simply "oozed" coolness ! They carry a excellent selection of Oakland themed gear, much with a "retro flavor" or "loosely" associated to your favorite Oakland teams. I've made a number of purchases on-line, but this was my first store visit. I picked up a very "hip" t-shirt depicting a "throw-back" era Oakland Coliseum. The store is filled with unique items you won't find in your typical stores. This us truly a boutique with its own personality and character. Prices are fair but not cheap, but the quality seems well above average. I understand they run 1 SALE annually in February, so I made sure to follow them on all the social media avenues, so I won't miss it. read more

Fairly well established urban and hip fashion store right on the main drag of broadway. The parking is street only, which means there is no parking. Welcome to the bay area. It's only a block or so away from the 12 street bart. It's also pretty much across from city hall/ogawa park (officially Frank Ogawa Plaza. Whatevs.) so there'll be garage parking close by. It's also on the broadway free shuttle line, so there's ways to get here that don't involve trying to get a car through the traffic snarl that is the bay area road network. This isn't the smallest hip fashion shop in Oakland, but it's by no means a large store either. Won't take long to pop in and get some rockin local fashion. There are both men's , womens and kids stuff, along with some touristy ticky tacky-cards, patches and suchlike, but the focus is totally on urban, hip, clothing/fashion items. You haven't really made it in the town until you start sportin some stuff from oaklandish. Pricing will range from 30 ish for a t shirt, 60 ish for a hoodie, and 40 ish for a cap. It's really easy to drop a hundred or so bucks in a go here. Online shopping is possible, but there tend to be better sale pricing in store. It's also possible to check out what you look like in store. Totally awesome, and totally local. read more

On both of my visits the women working in the store were completely unhelpful and acted as if I was putting them out by asking for them to get me a couple of t-shirts and a hat. They are not friendly during the check out and ignored me when I got to the counter. I understanding Oaklandish targets a hipster crowd but it doesn't mean the customer service folks have to be rude. I love Oakland and I love art and local artists. Therefore I proudly sport my Oaklandish bumperstickers and clothing. The designs are A++, however two of the four women's t-shirts I bought of theirs were made so cheaply that I had seams that gave out in the armpits when I first tried them on! I haven't had any problems with the sweatshirts at all. I paid $28-$34 for these t-shirts--I expect a bit more from a T for those bucks. Oaklandish, you do so much right. My boyfriend's mother lives in Alameda. While we try to use BART as much as we can, sometimes we are invited to functions where we (or at least I) know she will hold us hostage on the island for hours on end, sometimes long after the last train has left the Fruitvale station. One day last winter we were driving across the bridge on a bright and cold day in January. As we exited the Treasure Island tunnel, I turned to Daniel and said, "You know, for all the shit everyone around here gives it, Oakland is actually kind of pretty..." Sometime in high school I decided San Francisco was where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. I've lived within San Francisco city limits for the last five years, and I still have not settled in. Everywhere I go, I still feel like a tourist. Every time I leave my apartment, I feel like a little girl from San Jose being treated to a day at the zoo or Alcatraz or the teddy bear factory by her city-funded day camp, and like it's only a matter of time until I go home. I feel guilty when tourists ask me for directions. I feel like a cheat. I feel like a fraud. I don't get that vibe in Oakland. I don't get any kind of vibe at all. I feel more at home in Oakland than I ever have in San Francisco. Seeing the city skyline in my rear view mirror is almost always a relief. I've never once felt unsafe in Oakland or been afraid to be wandering around late at night. Maybe I'm just naive, or maybe I've been lucky enough to stay on the right side of town. But Oakland is somewhere I could really see myself staying. I see a greasy beauty in the East Bay. People have such a hard time thinking of Oakland as more than just guns and gangstas, but Oakland is all different colors. It is all different smells. It is grassroots notions of community and hard work and better living through art. Wheile I was interning at Performer, I came out to Oakland to help my editor man a booth at the East Bay Express party last July. On a coffee break, I picked up a t-shirt fromthe Oaklandish tent. "I just bought an Oakland Pride T-shirt," I said as I sat back down at our booth, removing the lid of my scalding-hot coffee to vent it. My editor looked at me and laughed. "Oh my GOD," she said. "You are going to get your ass kicked on MUNI." Oakland's time will come. Until then, I will not be afraid to unzip my hoodie on the bus and wear my sentiments on my Oaklandish T-shirt's sleeve. read more

I'm taking away 2 stars for the 2 sizes I had to order up so I could squeeze my breast into your tees. I only wear a 36C mind you, and all of my shirts are a size L. You would think with such a ethnically diverse spirited company which represents one of the most ethnically diverse cities second to my hometown of LBC, that you would have true sized clothing that fit normal sized people other than skinny asian chicks. Used to have really awesome stuff on high quality shirts but now it's super cheap. Especially the Hoodies. Used to have an awesome Anders zip Up with a lined hood and it even had an Oaklandish tag. Now it's flimsy and some super cheap made in China hoodie with the thickness of a T-Shirt and the price ($65) seems higher than when it was quality. read more

I really wanted to like this store, but it didn't quite work out for me. I am all for supporting local businesses (especially ones that give back to the community) and have an addition to graphic tees. The people working were really nice, but I found that the clothing items I tried on (I *really* wanted the shirt with the "BART tree") were pricey and that the girly shirts are sized weirdly (long and narrow, which works if you have the body of a prepubescent boy -- I felt like I was shopping in Asia). The guy explained that they source their t-shirts as locally as possible. Okay, fine. Perhaps I wasn't meant to rock out -- though I spend most of my waking hours in downtown Oakland, I chose Alameda to be my home (and for the most part, I find hipster clothing to look ridiculous). read more

I've seen the shirts, I've visited their website, but I stumbled across the store recently after running the Oakland half-marathon. As I was running by, I made a mental note to stop by after the race. When I stopped in, I was greeted with a ton of different items made by local artisans and designers. I picked up a classic Oaklandish t-shirt (you know, those shirts with the Oakland tree on it)--they have a dozen or so color schemes you can choose from. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Also for completing the my run, they also gave me some Oaklandish magnets for free. Overall, an awesome store that shows pride in the Oakland community.
