Stumbled upon this place not too long ago. I came in with my daughter and fiancé. They employee was very sweet and gave us a run down of their store since we were new potential customers. She informed us they buy back used kids clothing. Basically a thrift store for kids. When we asked for more information regarding their buy back service the owner stepped in and with a lot of attitude told us she "only buys designer brands and won't buy anything that comes from carters or target but we could donate it to her" her tone of voice was very rude. She looked me and my partner up and down with such a disgusting look. Till this day i think about how poorly she treated us. I'd rather donate my daughters used clothing to a mom on a fb or pass it down to family. We went in with the intention of making a purchase to support small businesses but left feeling confused and in shock. the owner needs to learn not to judge people based on appearances and have better customer service. read more

I come here every year during the holidays to buy books for the kids in my family. What I love most is their selection of books which teach kids about diversity, love, different languages, community, science, female empowerment, the body, science, BIPOC communities, and so much more. They also take the time to gift wrap your items; I get to choose the wrapping paper and they do it so nicely, even when I buy a bunch of books, and they always find a way to wrap even on a busy day. I will continue to support this store and encourage everyone to shop small and local here as well! read more

This place has the best kids clothes as well as many other fun items for your little ones. Cute selection of lots of adorable outfits and amazing prices on previously loved clothes. I got my newborn's first onesies there. Will be back for more and will come with our own clothes once she grown out of them. read more

Silver Moon is a resale shop of new and used items for children's clothing. Looking at the storefront from the street, there is a well-kept garden bed with some ornamental plants. Also, there is a window arrangement with some teddy bears at a tea party. On the sidewalk there is a $1 rack with assorted clothing. The main focus is new stylish clothing for children up to size 8. There are also shoes, hats, books, trinkets, and toys. There are fairy accesories, and hoola hoops. It is a great place to buy a gift for a child. The people that work at Silver Moon are attentive, and listen to parent's feedback, and do their best to meet their requests. read more

They have great quality kids stuff. Clothes, Shoes, Feeding Items, and Toys similar to what you'd find at Nordstrom's. Not as big of boutique as the recently closed Tot Tank in Alameda. No baby gear here! But, it definitely has the basics! Beats a run to Target! And the staff are always friendly. The store isn't crowded when I stop by. Which gives it that VIP shopping experience! They take electronic payment which is always a plus as well! read more

I love Silver Moon Kids. It's one of the few mom and pop type stores that still exist in this big city. The few times I've been inconvenienced by a "be back in 10 minutes" sign or a busy register far outweigh the countless lovely experiences I've had finding the perfect gift or trying on the 12th pair of shoes to find the right fit. I also think hey, this ISN'T the Gap, right? It's reasonable that you would have specific hours you buy used clothes, or close for a few minutes to use the restroom or grab lunch when you're manning the shop alone. The shop is so well curated, my kids and I love shopping here. I don't think it's unreasonably priced for the good brands they carry, we've been on a tight budget the past couple years down one income and we've always been able to find a good deal and something affordable. The shop owner and I have discussed which kids shoes last the longest and books that are interesting for parent and kid - she clearly gives the inventory she carries a lot of thought. Additionally I LOVE that she will buy some gently used items from our huge load of outgrown clothes to credit against our purchases. We bought the cutest rain jackets here last year that still look new after hard use last winter, and just tonight bought the most adorable rain boots. My kids love the little play kitchen and the train table - thoughtful additions to entertain the littles. We'll be coming here for years longer, thanks for such a sweet shop! read more

This is my favorite secondhand kids' store and I try to visit every time I am in the area. On my last visit, Lakeshore was having a power outage in the morning so I had to return in the afternoon and I made sure to because I love it so much. I left happy, with a big stack of beautiful, affordable clothes and accessories for my kids! The owner has great taste and the store feels like a boutique and is always clean and well-organized, but there are also lots of purposeful toys for busy hands to play with (train table, play kitchen). Great selection of high-end secondhand clothes and accessories, but mostly new items, all in sizes 0-12. Secondhand items are all in great condition - any stains or dings are disclosed "as-is" and all prices are very fair (most of the clothes in size 5 were ($6.50 or $7.50, some dresses were $10 but everything under $20). Lots of Tea Collection, Baby Gap/Gap Kids, Robeez shoes, iPlay and FlapHappy hats, and other accessories (scarves, gloves, bow ties, nursing covers and accessories). Also dress-up clothes, toys, books, and beautiful new clothes and shoes. This is a lovely store and it's worth it to find parking on busy Lakeshore (note that most of the stores in this area don't have public restrooms, I'm sure because of the number of homeless in the area, so go before you come!) It's a small business so it's a good idea to call before you come. Happy to come back every time I'm in town! read more

I've always thought this was the most cutest baby stuff store ever! today i went in to sell as opposed to buy (shocker). i had 4 giant bags from my "roaring 20s era". yep,i went to town and spent money likeit was going out of style with my oldest daughter. needless to say i had some prize pieces, lots of Tea, matching gymboree sets, party dresses, to die for cold weather coats, fabulous baby headbands, you name it. usually i dread bringing stuff in to sell but she definitely has a good eye for quality and what will see. i hate to see some of my prize pieces go but glad someone else will gain some sweet memories in my daughters' stylish pieces. LOVED the experience. they were friendly and respectable. i will definitely be using my "credits" to purchase some new Tea dresses for my daughters. oh, and maybe Jr too :) but not dresses, some manly pieces. come in if you want quality at a good prices. read more

I walked by this store on the way to the Farmers Market and it made me realize that I needed to buy a gift for a 2-year old girl's bday. The place was small yet has different varieties and cute things. A lady came up to me as I was looking for a gift and was helpful in showing me different gift ideas. Their items were all reasonably priced. I'm also happy to see a lot of "green" toys, although I'm not a big advocate for it. After choosing my gift, the lady even helped me wrap my gift. I just really like this store. It's expensive but I figure if they carry something in stock it's got to be REALLY good quality. Mostly I've bought shoes for my toddler and helmets. I've gone several times since my daughter was born to buy her some nice things and also for some gifts for other little ones. They have good quality helmets that are small enough for a one year old. I also really like that's it's local and that the employees are very helpful. All of our purchases have been worth it and they've made us feel very safe since the pandemic. read more

Christmas was around the corner, and I had a two-week-old niece to buy something for. Um, the little thing can't even see yet. What difference does it make if I get her something? Alas, I have an undeserved reputation for hating kids, and my sister talks more trash than the Waste Management Authority. So off I went down Grand to find a present for tiny Victoria. WHAT THE... a Run DMC onesie?!?! Perfect! Silver Moon also had Wu-Tang onesies and bibs, along with lots of Oaklandish gear. I ended up buying the Run DMC and pink Oaklandish onesies. Once she fits into them, Victoria will be the coolest infant in Palm Springs. read more

I love the products in this store. The owner has meticulous taste in used clothes, and since my family moved to Lakeshore in February, most of my daughter's wardrobe has been from this store. Unfortunately, the owner leaves something to be desired. Most of her smug, holier-than-thou attitude is contained in the snobby look on her face, which I can endure (even though when you don't look in the mirror while putting on a ponytail in the morning, you really have no place to judge) for the good finds. I'm in there many times a week. The other day I brought in my daughter and she was eating M&M's, which she was dropping and we were promptly picking back up. The owner came over to where I was looking at clothes and POKED ME in the back. I turned around, kind of shocked, and she said, "There's no eating in here. For next time." I put back several of the items I had been planning to buy. Then yesterday, I went in as she was closing to buy some $1 items from her sidewalk sale rack. She informed me that she wouldn't take my card for $4, and I didn't have cash. I asked if she could hold them for me, and she said yes, but only until 11 a.m. I went in at 12:30, and sure enough, she'd put them back on the rack and sold every one. That was to be expected. But then she made a point of saying to me, "Yeah, I thought about it last night, and I should have just given them to you." Then why the heck did you put them back on the rack? If I come here several times a week, you'll definitely see me again. Obviously she cares not one bit for the $50-100 I drop in her store every month. So I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Way back when my mini- me was a real mini- me, everything we needed to accessorised was coveted here at Silver Moon. A little mini-me Goorin Bros. hat, cool shades, cool-neon pumas and rings and things. Yea my tyke was always styin'. Dima (the store proprietress) has a good eye with a cool factor. The clothes/shoes selection is quite small however you're going to want every style for that little person in your life. She also carries some really cool unique toys (dinosaurs, action figures, etc). Theres a nice train play-set to keep the kids occupied while you browse. Silver Moon also carries used clothes (buy and sell/trade). On a lucky day you can find premium jeans for little wee arses. Only downside- Restroom is not for public use. Moms know when a kid's gotta go a kid's GOTTA go. read more

The owner wrote to me and said she'll no longer allow religious music being played, so I've stopped in with the kids a couple times since then. When I visit the place by myself, it's usually because I'm going to buy a gift, but when I take the kids, it's usually just to entertain them. Luckily, they are always friendly and helpful, even if it's obvious that we have no intention of buying anything other than a couple of dollars worth of tchotchkes. I have 1 nephew (turning 4), 3 nieces (ages 7, 5, 1.5). Since Silver Moon came to Lakeshore, it is a my "can always find a kid gift" store. Today was no exception. The hat rack of little boys' fedoras and wool caps caught my eye but I was hesitating b/c I was unsure of sizes.. A store clerk, Dima, noticed my focus on the hats and she came over and explained the sizes to me (some fedoras fit size 1-3 and other fedoras fit boys ages 6-8). Dima thoughtfully laid out some fedoras and caps on a flat surface so I could view them (vs trying to move the rack - the pole didn't swivel). Within 6 min, I made my decision. Super cute kids store. Some items are pricey but over all its for the quality items. Custom puppets, wooden toys, and the like. Clothing is at consignment prices and good to excellent condition. I stopped in from a walk for the very first time noticing first that it was a thrift boutique. I was friendly with the woman behind the counter and asked her how long they had been there, and she answered as though I should KNOW they have been here for 7 years or whatever she said. She was very frosty/high school and my son is 11 months old so I obviously didn't. She continued to eyeball me to make sure I wasn't stealing. I discovered a lot of clothes and shoes that babies outgrow very quickly for the ticket price. Obviously I have no reason to go back to this store when Mommy's Trading Post is relatively close. I have been shopping and selling my children's clothing to Dima at Silver Moon for over 8 years. The store was previously located on Grand Avenue. She has always been super awesome to me. She immediately remembers me, asks about my children and remembers their ages and gender. I only shop here a few times a year because I no longer live in Oakland but I do make the trip over to her shop because I know she has a great eye for fabulous stuff. I was surprised to see the negative reviews about Dima who has always made me and my children feel welcome. In addition, I usually am in the store for several minutes and have heard her speaking to other people and I have NEVER heard her speak unkindly to anyone. Again, super surprised to here some people see her differently. read more

I wish I could give the store a better review. Its closer to my house than the other baby store I go to, but the Silver Moon owner's business practices leave something to be desired. I brought in some of my kid's clothes to sell and was hoping to use the trade on a cute jacket which had a sticky zipper. I managed to free the zipper but was afraid it might break. I showed it to the owner and she moved it up and down a few inches and said there was nothing wrong with it. I said that's OK , I didn't want it. I started to look for something else when the owner announced loudly (although I was just a few feet away) that my bags were ready and she was finished. I am sure she didn't look through the other bag. I took my cash and left quickly, embarrassed and somewhat confused. I hadn't asked for a discount, and if she had taken the time to thoroughly examine the zipper she would have seen the problem. I noticed she was very friendly to the other women whom she already knew who were shopping there. After I went to the other baby store in Berkeley where I normally shop (Hannah's) I felt a much warmer attitude. Although I don't go in often, the owner is always pleasant to me. Friendly Staff! Thankfully, I always get great suggestions when I shop here, since I don't have any children. I have bought some great gifts for my niece and nephews. They sell a wide variety of new and recycled clothing and toys. They carry See Kai Run shoes and Salt Water Sandals. Best of all they have puppets and costumes year round. read more
