I would have loved to have given a better review for this, but even if we hadn't had the heated exchange, I felt the price was a bit high ($500) and was never broken down or explained to me. Everyone that I knew told me I was insane for paying that kind of money for a repair when TV's of the same size (and a fraction of the weight, lugging this thing to his shop twice was NO fun) could be bought new. What stopped me from sending this TV to the junkyard was his assurance (and some research) that it was a great TV that could be made good as new. Considering its original price tag, I agreed to repairing it instead of replacing. He could very well be the Rain Man of television repair, but in this day and age, a hand-scribbled receipt, gruff demeanor, and cash-only approach is not what I look for in a 5 star experience.

They ran their tests, charged me a fee and could not replicate the failure. Once I got the computer home, it crashed once the game was being played and they said they did everything they could and I was out of luck. I decided months later to see Adam at nerd rangers. He was very thorough in gaining background on the issue. He asked me whether the other repair shop tried to run the actual game? I was not sure so he went ahead and loaded Fortnite and said he would do his best to replicate the issue. Later that day he reached out to let me know that he believes he found the reason the game crashed (as it did for him) and he felt confident that he fixed the issue. When I went to pick up the computer he reassured me that if for some reason the fix didn't work he would continue to work with me to identify the problem. He absolutely saved me this week…read more My Lenovo laptop completely failed to boot after a graphics driver cleanup utility corrupted the Windows boot configuration and recovery environment. The system was stuck in a recovery loop, BitLocker was triggered, and Windows wouldn't load or even reliably enter repair mode. Multiple shops I called said it would take several days just to diagnose the issue. Matt turned it around in essentially one day. He was able to manually access the system, unlock BitLocker, repair the corrupted boot configuration, rebuild the necessary Windows files, and get the machine fully operational again -- without wiping my data. That was critical, as I had local files that weren't backed up to the cloud.
