DO NOT take your guitar here for any service. I took in my Martin OM-21 to have the binding re-glued and they absolutely butchtered the guitar. There was a 2" x 4" section on the back where they peeled off the gloss finish, there is glue smeared all over the side of the guitar along the waist area, and there are multiple scratches and dings on the body and neck. Worse yet, their response was simply "We've never had this happen before". It was just a stunning lack of workmanship on a high end acoustic. read more

Called in last week and spoke to Jonny about getting my fender fixed, Jonny was very friendly and professional. Told me to come by Monday when the guitar tech was in. I brought it in Monday at noon and only took a few hours before they called me back to let me now it was ready. They were even kind enough to restring the guitar with the elixirs I had in my hard case. I love the local vibe and if your considering guitar center for repairs or new/used gear you wont get the level of customer service as these guys. read more

This review really goes to Tracy, the woman running the show. She goes above and beyond for everyone. The way we were welcomed into Naperville Music was kind, fun and caring. My son was interested in seeing if Trumpet is the instrument he wanted and we got set up with one to borrow and see which teacher would be a good fit. From the welcome board with my sons name on it, to the tour that kept us engaged while viewing the space and offerings they have. He even had a special treat for his birthday. Tracy got to know our family and genuinely cared about us with each conversation and visit. She truly knows each person who walks in those doors for their lesson. Communication for lessons, payments, rental ... seamless! Besides Tracy being wonderful, the rest of the staff really is helpful each time we visit. Ms. Mary has really made learning Trumpet fun for my son and she's a great teacher they have. Truly a great fit! My son has decided to pause his lessons due to his own reasons, but the moment he decides to commit to his Trumpet, we will absolutely be back! DISCLOSURE: These guys have become pals, so while this review is factual, it's also admittedly a little biased. I'm reviewing their in-house guitar repair service, from a knowledgeable fellow named Chuck who knows a thing or two about fixing & setting up guitars. I took in my completely beat-up 1974 Guild acoustic for some tweaking, and he did the job fast & smooth. But I also discovered he does a lot of moving & shaking with replacement parts, some body work, electronics and more; plus he tweaks the new instruments the store sells. FYI Chuck says there has been in uptick in younger people bringing in older instruments, using the Covid downtime to learn how to play - so he's happy to handle your family's vintage instruments with kid gloves. So... if you're not confident in your YouTube-lesson guitar repair skills (or don't have the $ to invest in proper repair tools), you may consider letting Chuck take care of your baby. read more

Thankful for this place. It has been here since I was a kid. There are so few true music stores these days and it's nice to go back and see instruments readily available and people who actually know how to use them. This weekend I was especially thankful when my kiddo old got his mouthpiece stuck in the trumpet. I called, they had a mouthpiece remover, and within a few minutes of arrival the mouthpiece was out and all was again well with the world. This is probably a great place to learn to play a musical instrument IF YOU ARE A MINOR CHILD. I'm seeking adult lessons and had an opportunity to enroll with the first lesson free. They are Yamaha dealers so it makes sense that if I'm in the market for a keyboard/piano they could guide me to an intelligent choice. Once enrolled I received an email to gather info. Much to my surprise and disappointment EVERYTHING was written n the third person with forms to fill out that included my parents names and contact info. This led me to believe I'd be a freak in the class... should have thought twice about sending me those forms when I had a lengthy conversation about my age and experience. So on my life bucket list has been the desire to be a rock star. The only problem with that goal is that I had no musical knowledge, nor an instrument to play. Enter Naperville Music. This is a really, really nice place to buy instruments and take lessons. They have a laid-back sales staff which I really liked. They got me into a guitar that suited my beginner needs and with a reasonable price. The lessons are great, too. I also have my kids coming in here now- one for piano, one for drums. We're probably not going to transform into the White Stripes or even the Partridge Family any time soon, but it is nice to have that musical ability brought out in each of us. We all just love our teachers.... and it's so fun to learn a new instrument. Would definitely recommend this place for both purchasing equipment and even more for the quality of the lessons. read more

Was out this past Saturday. Drove out here from OPRF area as I was looking for a digital piano for our family. After barely greeting me and my son, they never asked if we needed help. I spent 15-20 minutes in their piano room before we just left. Complete lack of service as apparently they didn't need the business. I wouldn't recommend any store like this where the employees don't get it. Glad though that I did end up at Sam Ash in Lombard. Their staff was very helpful and patient as they helped me select between two models. We bought a very nice digital piano the same day. read more

I am not sure why other reviewers gave a bad review to naperville music, but I'm sure it's just like any business, you have good sales and you might have some not-so-good. Anyway, I am just trying to speak about MY EXPERIENCE when I was shopping for my acoustic piano. I called the store and spoke to Ryan a couple times. My first impression with Ryan was just okay. he wasn't like a typical salesman that tried to ask you many questions... nor tried to have small talks. However, I called again as I knew exactly what I wanted and I wanted to know if they carried the inventory. so we started to talk more about the technical aspects of the piano that I liked and then Ryan was really helpful in explaining some of the details to me. It turned out he's a piano technician and he just knows A LOT about pianos. So I went to the store the same day and bought the beautiful piano that's currently sitting at my house. It's a nicer/higher model than the original model that I was going to get, and Ryan had worked out a good price for me. I just cannot be happier. Oh i forgot to mention this - the store was supposed to close at 9pm and I couldn't get to the store till 8:45pm. the store closed at 9 but Ryan let me stayed as I drove from so far away. he answered all my questions and he stayed late to let me played on it as long as I wanted. I was really happy with the piano and i put down the deposit that evening. i think I walked out the store at 10:15pm. Yes, Ryan was happy but I felt that he would still be professional if i didn't walk out with a sales for him. the remaining delivery process was veyr smooth. they hired the mover that also moves pianos for Chicago Symphony. the delivery was ON TIME and the movers were very careful when they moved the piano into my house. Ryan also followed up with me with a personal letter as well as an email to thank you for my business. so i think this speaks for itself about their customer service. I found this place because I was looking for a store that sold quality gear that wasn't named Guitar Center. I had gone to guitar center and was looking at a high end (to me at least) acoustic guitar. I found the one that I wanted but was trying other guitars. When this little 10 year old girl walks into the high end room and screams "This is the one I want, Daddy!" She swung the guitar I wanted so that it would crash onto the wall. I was shocked, and horrified. Of course, the little girl left and the salesman said "so, is this the one you wanted?" I didn't know what to say. Yes I wanted that guitar, but not actually that one that was slammed into the wall. So I told him, I wanted it but wanted him to order me one from the company. This way I would have one that nobody hit against the wall. Need I say, "no can do"? So I found Naperville Music. They have the most beautiful guitars on the market. I was quickly lusting over all of them. Most were out of my price range though. And the ones that were in my range didn't feel the same as the one that was hit up against the wall. So, I asked them if they could order me the guitar I saw. They said yes. I ordered, it came in and I watched them take it out of the box. It is amazing. Josh is the guy who helped me. He remembers me every time I come into the store, and asks about my guitar. The last time I was in there was for a clinic where they were changing strings on Fenders. I brought my fender in they changed the strings for free (I wouldn't pay for that, just thought it would be nice.) He said I heard it was your birthday a couple of months ago (he was right) and gave me a present of some cables for my pedals. It was like $30 worth of cables. They are awesome. He found out I liked BB Kings guitar and they had one right out of the box that they had me play. I loved it, but now I can't stop thinking about it. I might be back soon. :) read more

After driving from Merrillville, Indiana, my wife, my 2.5 year old daughter and I weren't greeted and weren't asked if we needed help. I was ready to buy a new Acoustic Guitar and pick out a new piano for our home to start our daughter's lessons, but I will never return to this establishment. I saw most were going for something under 100 dollars and was curious about how much it was in store so I called, and they were selling it for 159 bucks. That's a scam, eff that and eff anyone who thinks I'm about to spend 159 dollars for a RV-5 when the newer model, an RV-6, goes for less than that. We went in on a busy Saturday afternoon and headed into the piano room. This can be overwhelming as there are pianos in there approaching 6 figures. Nate helped us and happily answered all questions and demonstrated the difference between the types of pianos. We left to go home and mull things over. Before we left Nate gave us his cel number in case we wanted to text any further questions or concerns we may have, After several days of comparison shopping we decided on a Yamaha NU1 hybrid piano. We again visited the store on a busy Saturday afternoon to arrange purchase and delivery of our new piano. We were in and out in several minutes. The piano movers came promptly at eight AM as they said they would. We have brand new hardwood floors and the gentlemen were very careful during delivery and set up and left the floors as flawless as when they arrived. In the future if and when our daughter's abilities eclipse this fine instrument we will definitely return to Naperville Music for it's replacement. read more

I can honestly say that my experience with Naperville Music exceeded my expectations. We had been looking at buying an acoustic piano to replace the digital piano we currently have. I have three kids in the house who play, so it was finally time to get them a real piano. I did a lot of research and we decided to see if we could afford to buy a new piano instead of used. We decided that we liked the Kawai K3 or K5. I approached the process of buying a new piano with trepidation. If you get on the piano blogs, the prices quoted varied widely. In addition, there were horror stories about up-selling and lots of bad experiences. I walked into Naperville Music a little bit nervous, but with a price in my mind that I thought was fair. Nate greeted me, asked what I was looking for, and went through the details of the pianos. He then actually talked me into staying with the K3 when I asked him about the K5. After I decided on the K3, the price he quoted me was right in-line with what I thought was fair. It was a very smooth and enjoyable process. We arranged delivery, and the piano movers came right on time. They were polite, careful and professional. My kids love the piano, and it sounds wonderful. As someone else mentioned in their review, we also received a nice note from Nate thanking us for our purchase. I recently had a very poor experience at this establishment. I went into the store once before to just browse a couple months ago and got snubbed by the guitar salesman. A man who has his head shaved with glasses. Not sure of his name. When I went in for the second time deciding he must have just had a bad day, it was even worse. He was having a very inappropriate and crude conversation with another customer. He was very short with me when he did consider stepping away from his repulsive conversation to "help" me. I would rather go to guitar center than this place where the employees care even less and the conversation is crass. Keep it up and you won't stay in business. read more

The staff was really helpful with my purchase and patient while I was there with my three kids! We've been taking lessons for over a month now and we really enjoy them.
