I started seeing signs of termites so I yelped two termite companies. The first guy was solid, and he suggested we get our house tented. Then I called O2 Termite. They answered and said, "Rick, we did work for you back in 2013." Jeremy came out and was honest in his assessment. He said my termite issue was minimal and that my bigger concern should be the wood rot that wasn't always visible with my novice eye. Jeremy also mentioned my wood pile against my back wall (and how that could be a breeding ground for wood-boring beetles). He suggested moving the wood, placing a large tarp on the ground then putting the wood back on the tarp and covering the wood with the overlapping tarp. What Jeremy did best was being reassuring that my house is in good shape. I highly recommend O2 termite! We've used O2 termite services a few times. Once on a 10 unit property and again on a single family home. Both times Bob was great! It's never fun to have to tent a property, but O2 Termite makes it easy. Recently, we thought we'd have to tent another property, but after viewing some videos and images, Bob said that they were Wet wood termites and that tenting won't help, that we simply have to block the water intrusion and replace the wet wood. If you're not an expert on termites (how many of us really are?) having someone come out and give you an inspection can be intimidating. You never really know if someone is going to try to take advantage of you. We had a different company come out. They told us we needed to tent our house and that there was significant damage. They quoted us $2800 to do the job. Then we had Bob come out. He took the time to inspect our house and explain what he was seeing. Which he explained was not active termites. The BEST pest man I have ever used (and I'm an old Landlady so there have been many). Straightforward, knowledgable and HONEST. Most big companies will tell you, "Sure you've got 'em" but Bob Owens crawled under the home I have for sale and declared the whole place clean except for a small area of white wood mold that he would treated $150. Fair!! I paid $200 for the inspection but would much rather do that then take a "free" one complete with faux bugs and a $2k estimate. Prior to moving to our house, we've got inspection report about it needing dry termite treatment. We were concerned if it has any subterranean. Bob at O2 said we should not do that treatment due to environmental concern if it's not needed. Then, he graciously sent Jeremy from his crew who went into the crawlspace to confirm that it's not needed. So we had the house tented by O2 without the sub-treatment. Orange oil reports from neighbors- they must return over and over, repeat. Bob has the experience plus he takes the time to school you on drywood and subterranean termites.
