Moved from out-of-state to NV using Bekins. I had a layover so my things had to be in storage for a few days. My gosh! Two tables arrived with legs bent, one piece of furniture had a deep gouge, and 1 small box was (is) missing. Three guys showed up from O'Brien and the one that could barely speak English was calling out the number for me to check off. He kept calling out numbers from other stickers! The other 2 men were busy moving things into the condo and basically stacking things up in the rooms. Never again! I should have stuck with United. They don't know how to handle loading trucks. From the estimation of the job, to the 'throw things in' loading, to the lack of communication, it was just all bad. My wife nearly had a meltdown looking at the truck when it arrived at the destination. Moving is hard enough on everyone, and this felt like the company didn't care at all. We have a big, beautiful, antique piano and wanted to move it to a new location. O'Brien's Moving & Storage was our #1 choice! What a gem this company is! We spoke with Luke O'Brien and he handled everything so professionally! I was a little nervous because of the age and size of the piano. Luke assured me that there would be enough guys to move it seamlessly. They came on time and moved our old piano with the utmost care and respect. They truly treated it as if it were their own. Crew seemed like they didn't have any training. They loaded things upside down and without enough padding. Things ended up crushed, marked, and slashed. When we complained they acted like we were lying about it. They said that our pictures just showed damage that already existed. read more

I contracted O'Brien's to move my household goods into storage and then into a new house. Fortunately I didn't have a full household because the buyers of my house bought most of my furniture. I just needed enough for a rental until my house was built. There had been no damage from my move from out of state, but after O'Brien's there was considerable damage that was caused due to mishandling of my items. They lost items and gave me a wheel they had from someone else's move which they refused to take. They wanted to pay $273.60 because I didn't buy extra insurance. I took them to small claims court and was awarded all my costs plus damages, another $1222.11. It was a hassle, but worth the satisfaction to tell my side to the court and win the judgement. Because of my experience with O'Brien's Moving and Storage I cannot recommend this company. read more

I'm a disabled veteran. It took me awhile to figure out what to say. This is the worst moving company I've ever used in my life. Now remember I'm disabled. The boxes were put in the wrong rooms. They used my food to use as a cushion in the boxes. I have a collection of swords and the majority of the tips were bent. They were dropped. They put my stuff in the garage. The put the mattress in the room and the box spring in the garage. It took me over three weeks to find my clothes. They used my shirts as wraps for the items in the box. I'm truly speechless. I told them the problems. They sent over two guys to move my heavy items. They put them in my grandkids rooms. They charged me over $4000. You think they would of dropped the price. Instead they made excuses on trying to find qualified workers. I have problems with my legs, back and upper body. Please think twice before using this company. I even gave them specific instructions. Nothing was followed. They blamed me for not being there. The owner never reached out to me to make things right especially on how much they charged me and how much they screwed things up. I moved from Reno, NV., to out of state in 2018. I requested a quote from a couple of different companies to move a 3 bedroom home. This was a substantial move and would have been a good amount of money for this company. The owner's son came out to do the quote. He was condescending and I got the impression he felt he was above me. He never emailed me a quote. I emailed and asked for the quote and never heard back from him. My husband and I choose this company because of they pricing I told my husband I was not sure about this company because they seem to have a bit of attitude but we just went a head with it the day of the move the workers was commenting on our furniture how nice it was and how it would look good in his house I said what and he said that he was just joking around so I just didn't think much of It after that because I had video of our things and I let the workers know that so after waiting a long time than they told us it would be, we had to wait even longer because they couldn't get the truck up our driveway so they had to rent a smaller truck but they left some of our things inside the other truck one of the workers said that was all our things no it wasn't they kept our things and said it was lost then when we made a claim they said their going to look into it and you all must know by now what happen they stole our things she came back and said the worker said every thing was giving to you so we where out of thousands of dollars worth of stuff these workers are thieves and the company they work for knows it I think they where involved on the whole scheme so the bottom line is if you work hard for your things and you would like to keep them pass them by know matter how cheap the price is because they are crooks and liars and thieves with attitude. name of this company is O' Brien's Moving & Storage, Inc BEKINS 2277 Glendale Ave Spark, Nevada 89431 This was in November of 2018 read more

AWFUL!!! I bought online a mattress through Costco.com . This was their moving company. I waited almost 3 weeks. Their delivery schedule to Reno was HORRIBLE. Mondays and Wednesdays with a long estimated time of 9-1 and 1-6. They wouldn't deliver on Labor Day after I waited weeks, and they said that they couldn't be flexible with time. I had to wait an extra week because I couldn't do the Wednesday time because there is no way out of work for me on Wednesdays. I ended up scheduling a Monday and used my lunch to leave work early just in case they showed up (they were supposed to give me a "courtesy" phone call prior which never happened. I waited at home until 7 and no one showed up. I eventually called and got a call back saying I scheduled it on a Wedneday. Umm no I know I didn't because I cannot get off work on Wednesdays!! I called up Costco and just said I refuse shipping and that I want a refund. Costco understood In any case the Costco mattress would have been $700. I ended up finding a mattress I really like at Sear's (an entry level Sealy) for just under $500. Costco is too good for this company so no idea why they use them. Oh and they did not use the name O'Brien when I called. It's just the number that linked me to this address. I think Home was somewhere in their name. BEWARE!!! read more

Worst experience ever!!! I purchased a bed from Costco with "white glove" delivery. This company is more like rubber glove delivery. The office person (I think her name is Kristy) is the rudest, snotty and most unprofessional person I have dealt with. They do not understand what true customer service is and believe me Costco will hear about how this company is treating Costco customers and hopefully they will find a new company for their white glove deliveries. read more

I made an appointment to have a recommended moving company move my furniture across town. They showed up and advised me they don't do refrigerators, piano's, or stairs. I was told over the phone they could move all of it. I fired them. I called Sean O'brian of O'brian's Moving and Storage. He put an emergency crew together for me and arrived within the hour. The crew he sent, Rubin and a Jose, surpassed my expectations by a ton. They were able to move everything from my old house and into the new house in 6 hours. The refrigerator was too large to fit through the sliding glass door, so they took the door apart instead of the refrigerator, moved the fridge intact and then reassembled the slider. They were nothing short of amazing. Nothing scratched or broken, extreme care given to everything. This was all done 3 days before Christmas. I highly recommend O'brian's Moving and Storage to anyone looking for quality movers. read more

We used O'Briens Moving and Storage to move from a rental home to our new home in Reno. Was not a long distance but they moved everything as if it was. They did and remarkable job with breaking down the beds to moving general garage racks. They showed up on time and didn't leave till we were happy with the location of all the furniture that they moved. They provided (2) trucks with (4) guys to move a 2,650 sf home. Used them 2 years ago and they broke glass and basically just threw the boxes and furniture into the truck. When we got our furniture in place I noticed that they had punched a hole in the back of our dresser. I told them about it and was told that they needed to know how much the dresser weighed (for reimbursement I guess). Well since I don't own an industrial sized scale I told them I couldn't weigh it. They offered to fix it but it would have to be brought to the store. Yeah I don't have time for that. read more

My husband and I were just talking about how amazing our movers were when we moved 1 year ago. So I decided I should send them a review. Everything about the process was easy. The owner Luke came to our home and bid the job. Day of the move-the guys showed up On time and hustled! We were out of our 1900 sq ft house in 3 hours - 2 truck loads and unloaded and furniture in place and assembled by the end of the day. Christi in the office was great to work with. Their quote was exact. Also-I loved that we could come grab boxes at anytime during our packing phase. We are celebrating our 1st year anniversary in our new home this coming weekend. What a SCAM! They give you a "quote" which they put almost double the amount of furniture than we actually had, with double the amount of time it actually took to load and unload it all. I figured since it was just a quote we would get the extra they charged us back after it was all done, when I called to ask what the actual rate that I was charged, they made up every excuse to not give us a new rate. Their movers took smoke breaks every 45 minutes to an hour and were not working for 15+ minutes during that time. I had to help them unload the truck because they were so slow. (The actual movers were very nice, just slow). They didn't put all of our furniture back together like they said they would, like the feet on our entertainment center, etc. ended up paying 3k to move a total of 35 miles away with only a full living room and one bedroom of furniture and other boxes(we only filled about 2/3 of their tru. Unless you like spending a ridiculous amount of money for bad service, go elsewhere. Update: I was contacted by the office staff who apologized and were sad to hear of my negative experience. They refunded me $144 which covered just the smoke breaks the movers took on the "unload day" (that did not cover the smoke breaks for when they moved stuff out of our old home) and said they would discuss it in a meeting with staff. I changed my review from 1 star to 3 stars because I appreciate the attempt to make things better with customers. I still believe the price to move only 35 miles away is outrageous but I understand the increase of people here in Reno has allowed businesses to skyrocket prices of everything. read more

My husband and I set up an appointment with them this last week to come to our apartment and the agent never showed up. When we called a 1/2 hour after the appt. time they never gave us an explanation as to why but said they were on their way. (I was upset because I had rearranged my day and thought if anyone who had to come home on their lunch break would have been pissed. The agent should have at least given us a call to say he would be late.) When he finally arrived an hour and 15 minutes later I was just about to leave for work. He came in like a whirlwind (almost annoyed) then said he would get back to us later in the evening. It is now almost a week later and we have still not heard from them. Terrible!!! I hired O'Brien"s to load a moving truck that we were driving to another state. The movers arrived a little after the scheduled time. We had moving blankets for all of the furniture that was being loaded and moved. The movers didn't want any help with the loading so tried to stay out of the way. Things seemed to go okay. When the truck was unloaded we found that the movers had only wrapped one piece of furniture, the piano. Our white couches were loaded standing on end with no moving blankets covering them. Some of the white cushions were used to pad other pieces of furniture. Needless to saw the couch and cushions were dirty and the finish on the wood trim was worn completely off in some place. Every piece of furniture was damaged, none of it was wrapped or protected. This in spite of the fact that we had an adequate supply of moving blankets. I would never use this company again or recommend them to anyone I know! My parents used Silver Eagle Movers about the same time to move their things. The quote they gave us was much better than Obriens and they did an excellent job. All of the furniture was wrapped completely and arrived at their new home in another state in excellent condition. read more

Not impressed with their management. They come across as disorganized and poor at scheduling. Costco.com uses them for shipping their larger items in Reno, Nevada. Was waiting for an item for about three weeks. Phoned Costco for status on delivery and they told me O'Brien's was supposed to deliver. I have not yet received my item that I ordered, but I have spoken to the woman at the front desk twice. The first time, she told me she couldn't even give me a time frame for my delivery date and that it could take "two, three weeks - even a month". When I spoke to her again, she came up with a delivery date (after the parent shipping company called her) and then basically accused me of lying about the time frame she previously gave me. If I wasn't worried she would do something to further delay our delivery, I would have asked to speak with her manager about her lack of customer service skills. She was rude and unprofessional. I cannot believe she is permitted to insinuate that the customer was wrong when I specifically remember what she told me. Pick a better shipping company if you want to be treated with some respect. read more

Yes, 1 star is correct and I wish that I had read the reviews of their service before using this company to move overseas. The packing was atrocious. The movers here in New Zealand said to me, "This looks like it was packed by a bunch of Mexicans". I was shocked as I have many Mexican friends. But, when I asked them why they would say such a thing, they told me that they get many poorly packed and damaged items from American and it is usually poorly paid Mexicans who pack the shipments. Expensive furniture was "wrapped" in saran wrap type plastic. No proper packing materials used. When i questioned it, I was told that this was the way that they wrap. Two large cabinets are in pieces. The top was broken off of a 1500 art table (before it was even shipped), my desk was broken in about 6 pieces, my $3500 Bernina sewing machine is missing as is a framed Bev Doolittle print. About $5-6,000. A box was packed with 2 pieces of glass (unwrapped, even) protruding out about 5-6 " from the box. When I told the man in charge, he said that he would fix it later. He never did and a shock, it arrived unbroken. I had two boxes that had large pink notes on two sides , 'saying "DO NOT SHIP TO NEW ZEALAND". Several times I caught men trying to put them in the container and told them to put them back. Guess what??? I have 2 large boxes of US appliances that I can never use. They were headed to be donated, now no one gets to use them. They were told, over and over, NOT to pack the living room furniture or patio set until everything else was in. I only wanted them IF everything else that was important, got in. Well, I didn't get file cabinet with all of my important papers and tax records, plus 40yrs of genealogy work, or my sewing machine (my livelihood) or my mattress and box frames or other important items. ( I am 70 yrs old and sleeping on the floor. )Now I have to pay for a second container to get these things. I could go on and on, but I am afraid that if I did, no one would ever believe me. I have tried to get an email to tell them what i think, but none is available that I know of. read more

Just moved to a new house and O'Brien's did a great job handling everything. The cost was significantly lower than the other company I asked to give me a bid. Had three conscientious guys who worked nonstop. It was raining the whole day, and they were careful to cover the flooring and furniture. No damage or issues.
