They have a terrible system. When you reserve a unit on the website, And I talked to four different locations. it doesn't reserve the unit. They want you to pay online and get the payment information. I would NOT do this. The issues with communication and fees was just a mess. No one knew anything? indicating severe issues with rentals. DANGER - DO NOT RENT, move IMMEDIATELY if you are a tenant! Management of this property has allowed severe flooding to occur, infiltrating several units, causing damage to personal items and unmitigated deterioration of the grounds and structure. There is extensive flooding, mold, water damage to structural walls, and dangerously unsafe ice buildup creating unsafe conditions for person and property. For several weeks, promises made have been ignored and denied, calls and messages have remained unanswered, and district manager Ashley Henke has allowed these issues to escalate while tenants expend significant effort to protect their belongings with full knowledge in real time of every aspect of this emergency. This issue has slowly progressed to staggeringly dangerous conditions with full awareness of property management, and refusal of intervention by district manager Ashley Henke who has insisted that salting and snow removal (which verifiably have not been performed) are the absolute exhaustion of all reasonable measures to mitigate this situation, which in her own words was described as a disaster. Their claims are verifiably false as I have made them aware of myriad low cost solutions that could be implemented, and have been implemented by multiple tenants, and I have spoken with facilities crew members (whom Ashley has attributed the determination that nothing more can be done) who informed me that they advised her weeks ago of additional measures that she directed them not to take, resulting in further preventable damage to personal property and the rapidly deteriorating condition of the facility. The management of this facility is criminally negligent. Ashley Henke had been made thoroughly aware of that fact and refused any further assistance to remedy the situation, going so far as to cite that they have spent "a lot of money on it already"... WRONG ANSWER Money spent on the wrong solution does not concern me as a client. That is an unwise sunk cost that is not the burden of their clients to bear. The scale of their fiscal malfeasance is of no concern to me when numerous solutions to effectively resolve the acute threat to property and safety were readily available for considerably less cost. The unwise exhaustion of capital without expert confidence in effectiveness is not a burden to be borne by their clients, it is a testament to their gross incompetence. They could have bought a million dollars worth of gummy bears and laid them out in an ineffective effort to solve the issue, but their choice to spend a million dollars on something that doesn't solve the problem still is not the responsibility of the customer to bear. It's a symptom of their failure to fulfill their contractual obligations to their customers. They know that they are responsible for allowing this condition to progress. They know that their customers are doing more than they are to protect their units. And they know that they are facing the possibility of litigation and criminal prosecution. In full knowledge of these factors, they have chosen to allow their customers' belongings and their facility to be destroyed in slow motion, with full awareness that readily available inexpensive solutions exist, and they face substantial penalties for their chosen response. Ashley Henke has explicitly elected to take personal responsibility for what she herself has described as a disaster, refusing to provide any other contact within the Public Storage management team for assistance. Ashley Henke has told me that all options have been exhausted, even after having been presented commercially available solutions, as well as advice from engineering professionals presented to me that I communicated to her. She is fully aware that personal belongings are being destroyed, and that the condition of the building is rapidly deteriorating into conditions unfit for safe storage and that are dangerous to the safety of tenants and staff who attempt to access their units. She has lied repeatedly about the removal or ice and snow, application of ice melt, expert advice she has chosen not to employ, and her knowledge of simple measures to mitigate the current emergency. District Manager Ashley Henke, who has responsibility of other Public Storage facilities in their district in addition to this location, is substantially aware of the scale of destruction the belongings of her customers, as well as the rapidly deteriorating conditions of the facility and their threat to human safety, and her responsibility for allowing these conditions to develop. In full knowledge of this, and in awareness of potential litigation and criminal prosecution, she continues to refuse to provide any reasonable assistance to mitigate the emergency she has allowed to escalate with complete awareness every step of the way for nearly two months now since she first became aware. I would rate my experience with Mel at Public Storage on Telegraph in Reno, NV extremely poor. I have given her at least two or more chances to approve the way she treats me when I want to pay my rent and the last time she hung up on me because I mentioned to her that I was NOT going to argue with her that I was the customer. She talks down to me as a senior citizen and all she can say is that I am to use the APP! The reviews for the APP are NOT great! When you call PS the voice mail message says they are open until 6:00 pm. It all false advertising because no one is there unless you make an appointment so I did that and Mel was not even in the office when I arrived on time to make my payment which again was another way in which she was disrespectful and showed how rude she is too me! She was on the property and laugh that she got caught up with a task or chores with a unit. I asked to get her DM's name and phone number and it sent me into a loop to purchase another unit! I called her back to let her know that this was not a phone no. to get through to her DM. Her DM did call me back but she did not have her listening ears on and all she could say was that my payment was credited and that I had no late payment at least 3 times. I wanted her to listen to my complaint on the awful customer service that I have been given. I have done business with them for 6 years. So it is time to find another place that will treat a senior citizen with the respect that I deserve. I want to get in touch with the CEO to let him know of my poor experience with Mel. I stop at Telegraph because it is on my way home from work. My unit is at the North McCarran Blvd in Reno, NV and Brenda is very good to me there. When I have spoken to Kristen she has always provided with excellent customer service! This complaint is long over due and I am NOT going to be disrespect by Mel again! I'm having an awful experience with Public Storage. The people at the location are nice, but the We Care Team is a joke. I rented a unit that I never moved into and had it for less than 2 business hours. I have had multiple people promise me they have put in a request for a refund and nothing. Can't get ahold of anyone with authority. So as of now, I have paid $160 for nothing. I would go local where you can work with a human and be treated like one. read more

Have been renting for years here , never late always early on payment and received a notice my rent was being increased from 197.00 a month for my 10x20 to 260.00 !!!!!! I cannot afford to pay any more then i already am so i called and talked to them they tried to put through a request for this not to happen and was denied. Was told to call the 800 number and explain to them as they surely don't want to lose a good customer she says .... so i call and got zero help from them for my situation, told them i would have no other choice to move and try to squeeze it all into my small one bedroom apartment and how could they justify such a large increase , was told well we are a corporation and these are their decisions so please make sure you do not go past the 1st of the next month or you will be charge fully. The front gate is broken, and having spoken to an employee, while a work order has been made, there is no estimate when the gate might be fixed. I just moved into my unit last week but understand that this has been the case for months now. In order to gain access to the storage units they have opened a side gate, but this is not closed overnight. Basically anyone can just stroll in at anytime. Overall the entire facility is very tired, and there are several holes in the walls in my unit. Also, don't expect the $1 first month, that's not available at this location I'll be moving to another storage facility and given there is no security at all I'll be requesting a refund read more

This is possibly one of thee worst life scaring experiences I've ever had. Do not store your items here. These people auctioned off my stuff including personal documents. I explained that I had been going through a tough financial situation. I was a day away from paying it but I had no idea that the unit was up for auction. They never notified me by email or phone. I had spoken to a guy there and updated my number there a while back. They said it was never updated. I checked my emails and there wasn't anything there regarding the auction date. I was devastated. I pretty much begged them to help me contact the buyer. I told them I had my birth certificate and SS card there along with ALL my childhood items. I asked them to please contact me when the buyer came so I can at least get those items back. When The GM finally contacted me she said the unit was already empty! It had a public storage lock so it would require the office to unlock it for them. Zero compassion. Absolutely disgusting human beings. Karmas real though. The lady Jojo told me that's what happens when you don't pay your unit and being upset won't help anything. She was super rude and the GM is just as incompetent as she is. I like the convenience of being able to rent, get a lock, sign your rental docs, and get your unit info right from the comfort of wherever you are with your phone. If I could give a zero, I definitely would. The management here is practically nonexistent, meaning you will almost never hear from them or see them and the property is not well kept whatsoever. I found this particular Public Storage location right before moving to Reno last year, and it's been a great experience. The units vary in price, and there are often specials running on the Public Storage website. Only being charged $1 for the first full month's rent is really convenient. Insurance is included in the monthly charge, and there are several payment options available online by creating an account. I've dealt with some other storage units in the past that have had issues with the walls not being totally enclosed, which can result in a lot of dust and damage to belongings. I was really satisfied to find the walls completely enclosed here. The front office staff and management are very friendly, and do a great job of taking care of the property, which is gate controlled, with a numerical sequence required for entry and exit. Gate access hours have changed recently and are now Mon-Fri 9:30am to 6:00pm, Sat-Sun 9:30am to 5:00pm - just be sure to give yourself a little bit of extra time to exit beforehand. After seeing many storage units in town since I got here last year, this location seems to be one of the safer ones, as it's located in a predominantly industrial area. If this was a review for the on site managers it would be five stars. They are friendly,knowledgeable and customer focused. However, this review reflects my experience with Public Storage the corporation. Let the buyer beware! They are taking advantage of the storage shortage in Reno and will gouge you. When I first moved to Reno they were higher priced then other storage but they had availability. Six months after renting I got a rate increase of almost 30%. When I talked with the corporate office the attitude was tough s--- we can rent it at the new price. I left and as I was moving out talked with another "move out" who told me she had three rate increases in less than two years. The value is doubtful at Public Storage and their pricing practices are shameful. read more
