With the myriad of different bakeries in Annandale, O bread is definitely my new favorite! I was sad to see Bread Corner closed but O bread has stolen my carb loving heart. This place is run by some very sweet, helpful ajummas and the samples are plentiful. The bread tastes so fresh and I love how they make everything with organic flour. I'm a big fan of the multigrain loaf! I love my bread seedy and crunchy with a soft center. The craisins and nuts on the inside give it a nice flavor and texture. My mom was a huge fan of the rice sponge cake. She can eat a whole one in one sitting with coffee. O Bread Bakery quietly came into the neighborhood but don't let its shy introduction fool you. The owners of this bakery are bubbly, friendly, and welcoming. They generously offer you samples of everything and excitedly explain each product to you. The selections are a pleasant fusion of Asian and Western flavors and modernized versions of old favorites. Instead of the familiar loaves of raisin bread, you will find blueberry bread. You will also find mini pumpkin loaves, mocha loaves, and wormwood loaves. The breads and cakes are moderately sweet, which always wins with me. But I also find them a bit coarser. First of all, I love the baked goods at O Bread. I might be the first few people who reviewed them on Yelp! But sadly this time I had to give them a different review... due to the POOR customer service (referred to the cashier lady). I went with my 1y daughter to get a bday cake for my son. It's his 4th bday. I go to O Bread to get bday cakes for both my children since they were born. When I was there, I pointed to one of the cakes and asked if it was a fresh cream cake and what flavor it was. (The cake had a cover on it and the moisture underneath the cover made it hard to tell what flavor it was.) The Korean lady who stood behind the counter answered without looking at which one I was pointing at, in an impatient manner, and said "It's fresh cream. It's chocolate." When in fact, I was actually pointing to the cake next to the chocolate one. Later, when I was ready to check out, I realized She packed the wrong cake. I said I told her which cake U actually wanted. She said something along this line, "It's coffee [flavor], so she (referring to my 1y daughter who was with me) can't have it." So I said, "Chocolate had caffeine in it, too." Then so said, "If you want to get it, it's your choice." Gosh! I don't serve my children with coffee but still I don't need others telling what to do. At the end, I spent over $40 and I got a good thank you and goodbye from the lady...... This was not the first time that I felt the same way from the SAME lady. The last time I was there, I remember walking away thinking... what a terriable customer service! I still love O Breads' baked goods and fresh cream cake. I used to take French Pastries course and wanted to become a baker. In my opinion, they offer the best and affordable pastries in the area. I come here often and even made friend with the the guy, Jay, who used to work at the cashier. He is now working in the back. This lovely bakery is now my #1 recommendation to any of my friends who are looking for scrumptious Korean treats! Not only are the food and drinks great, the atmosphere and customer service are fantastic as well. Similar to other Korean bakeries in the area, this one offers several different kinds of savory and sweet pastries/breads with many free samples. However, I feel like this place has things that other places don't which definitely ups the intrigue and makes me a repeat customer. Plus, I love that nothing is too overly sweet. That's just my excuse for stocking up on numerous desserts/snacks and not sharing... The best drink so far for me is the iced green tea! Probably the best one I've ever had. It is so comforting on a hot day (or any day, for that matter!). It's great with or without boba. I really also like the atmosphere. Decided to stop by this bakery after having dinner in Annandale last weekend. We came based on other reviews and are so happy we did! Although the bakery is small inside, everything we picked was delicious and fresh. I also tried an iced caramel macchiato that was refreshing. What a great bakery addition to the area. There is ample parking located in the H-mart strip mall. Amazing flavorful yeasty breads! The samples were outstanding but had to try the red bean cake and they do a red bean like no other! The filling is sweet and plenty and complements the bread. I was craving something sweet today so I went to a local bakery. When I came in I was greeted from the employee and took a look at the baked goods they offered while she was busy organizing bread. I noticed they had individually wrapped pieces of bread. I wasn't sure If it was baked today or not so I decided to ask the lady when it was baked. Her response was: "You would've known that if you looked at it. We bake fresh every morning." Her sudden rude tone was a surprise to me. Gosh.. I can't even ask question?? That wasn't the first time I had issues with this bakery, they have been condescending and rude. The worst thing is that it's not a chain bakery, it's privately owned so I can't even complain. And they're the only bakery that use organic flour. It's like they know that they can be rude to me without any consequences and that's why they do it. I've been hesitant to write a review about this place because I didn't want too many people coming here and making it crowded. But, that's selfish (and it looks like people found this place anyways - can't keep good organic bread a secret for too long). Let me be frank with you, I like this bakery more than any other korean bakery. Mostly because it's easier to get to, the prices are better, it's not as crowded, and I love their selection. I went to the bakery once couples years ago when it just opened. Their bread is just like others, nothing special, so I did not come back. Recently, I was looking for another bakery instead of tous les jours (my favorite one has been closed), and decided to come back here. I was surprised and impressed by their creative breads. They are looking good, unique and variety. They are also healthy with organic flour, multi-grains, and less sugar. I was passing by the shopping center after getting Kung Fu Tea when I noticed the Bread Corner is replaced with O Bread. We went to check it out and it was during their happy hour deal (7pm -9pm I think) for some discounted bread assortments. Priced fairly for an organic shop. Since it was late, options were limited so we picked up the castella bread and mochi. I didn't get to try the mochi yet but the castella bread was very light and fluffy. Everything from O Bread Bakery is well made and unique, very different what the ordinary bakeries make. This place is one of my favorite bakery! I've been customer of this bakery since it opened! All breads are really fresh. There are so many different kinds of breads and I love the roll cakes most! I had wanted to try this place since I saw it on yelp. I ordered a cake for my friend's birthday and I also bought some breads when I went pick up the cake. Aside from the fact that they use all organic ingredients... i have to say I stand behind them because of their business ethics and customer service. They are apparently limited in certain breads because they bake in a conservation type of manner. They only bake enough to supply for what they might need for the day. In turn.. they donate everything they don't sell that day and start fresh again the next day. I'm big on donation and social responsibility so I was extra elated to hear about this component. I have been to a lot of Asian bakeries in the DC metro area, but this one tops them all. Stumbled across it by accident while visiting H-Mart in Annandale. I noticed the shopping center sign included "Bread Corner", which I am familiar with from Rockville, but it isn't Bread Corner at all, but O Bakery, which is much better. My wife, daughter, and I bought a selection of pastries and breads, and everything has been wonderful--no exceptions. We just had the honey brioche bread this morning for breakfast, and it is out of this world. Better than anything I have had at French bakeries in NYC or anywhere else. The chestnut bread is also incredible, as were various pastries, such as one with red beans. We arrived after 2:30, so a lot of things were already sold out. If those are better than what we bought, I have a hard time imagining how good they must be. Now I know I'll be spending a lot of time in my car driving from Ashburn, but it will be worth it. read more
