It's definitely on the pricier side but there is literally no other soon tofu soup options so it's still cheaper than flying off island when a craving hits. The service was great! Aunty was literally like one of my my aunties. We showed up at 12p with a reservation but there were only 2 other parties but it was also a Monday so it worked out. The food was very tasty. Never tried cold noodle soup but that tricked my mind like crazy. The broth looked clear and flavorless but it was so delicious. I really enjoyed that with the chewy noodles. The La Kalbi made me see the birth of the universe. That thing was ridiculous. I'm still dreaming about it. I've never had Kalbi so soft and disintegrated before even chewing. We also tried the vegetable stir-fry with shrimp because my wife wanted to balance out all the meats but I'm not a vegetable guy. It was still tasty. The reason for coming was to try the tofu soup but we didn't even try that so we'll have to come back. I wanted to knock the rating down for pricing but I can choose whether I go here or not and I know the cost of doing business is crazy especially hawaii. overall, we had a great experience and the leftovers fed us for 2.5 days after our visit.

Self-seating, which we did, acknowledged quickly but took about 10 minutes to get water. Menus on the table, which wasn't a big menu but took about 10 more minutes for server to take our order. Literally took 45 minutes from sitting to getting our food. They were out of some stuff and we were told that they couldn't make some stuff because it would take too long. I guess there was only 1 cook too. Definitely not what I expected from a Korean restaurant. Kind of disappointed with the selections available and my bulgogi and japchae turned out to be a soup, which kind of bummed me out. No taste to the bulgogi and it was glass noodles with no taste of either listed dish. I threw it away. Kim chee fried rice was also blah. Sorry, but I ain't going back to this place since it's not what I'm used to eating. Maybe it's like this in Korea, but I like my Korean food more Hawaii. 2 stars, and I'm being generous

BEST FILIPINO FOOD ON THE ISLAND!…read more During my 1 week stay at Maui I probably came here about 5 times. I went here right after getting off the airport to get some quick comfort food before checking in to my stay in Kīhei and Tagpuan happened to be on the way. I ordered the chicken Inasal and pork lumpia and from those two simple dishes I could tell that this place was legit. IMO that inasal's definitely better than Mang Inasal back in PI and much better than the Inasal I've had in the Bay Area so hopefully that hypes it up enough. Kept coming back almost every single day till I left to go back to the mainland. In that time I also had the grilled liempo (pork belly), crispy pork belly, and longanisa sliders - all excellent dishes. Really love the sauce selections they use for their dishes too - pretty good balance of acid to cut the fat making the dishes feel not too heavy. The food truck is currently nestled in what seems to be an auto shop lot. There's a nice clean bathroom access via the auto shop near the food truck itself. Lots of parking, a few benches to eat at, and of course, really good food. The couple that run Tagpuan are incredibly kind and hard working people. Would highly recommend - not only to support a local business owner (who's from Lāhainā) but because they serve genuinely good and authentic Filipino food.

This food truck is inside a small lot with gravel around a couple benches and chairs. It's across from car wash so you'll hear their loud air drying machines but after awhile it's just background noise and doesn't bother us. Plus they play some nice music on a small speaker at the truck. We ordered the Ahi Poke Nachos and this dethroned our previous favorite from another spot down the road. It is a bit spicy so just be aware. So worth it. Lots of flavor and plenty poke to chip ratio. We also ordered the chicken Inasal since our kid would eat it. She's picky but ate plenty chicken. It has a very nice charred smoky flavor and still super tender and moist. We need to try the other items for sure so we will 100% be back. We got to meet the owners Rocky and Maine? They were super nice and took the time to explain that their name Tagpuan means "meeting place" for those who are not Filipino. (Me) When the food is ono we already happy but service was cherreh on top. They were warm and very inviting. There's one port a potty and sink just fyi. Highly recommend! Come check it out!

It was a short 5 min hop over from the airport to Da Tambayan Corner and parking in the adjacent lot was easy. All the food trucks are ringed around the central tables and look for the aquamarine Da Soriano truck over by the road. Their food style is Filipino with a Hawaiian twist if you hadn't discerned it from their name. They have a build-your-own-combo grindz menu that you can pick a couple of proteins with rice options or check out the picture menu if you really don't know what to get. My wife went for the combo of Pork Adobo & Garlic Butter Shrimp with Mac & Green Salad, both very flavorful choices. Her friend went double pork action with Chinese Roast Pork Belly & Calamansi Grilled Pork Belly and Pancit Bihon Noodles as her side. The Chinese roast pork belly was as crispy good as any I've seen in any Chinatown. My Seafood Trio had a Miso Glazed Salmon Fillet, 3 Baked Mussels, 2 Shrimp Tempura and topped with Kaboyaki sauce & Thai Chili Aioli. The Shrimp were not the typical panko coated but battered and tasted good drizzled with the 2 sauces. The mussels are topped with a heavy cheesy mayo sauce and baked. Of course, it wouldn't be a Hawaiian plate lunch without a scoop of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. All this wasn't enough and our friend went back to chat with the chef and came back with a double serving of banana lumpia in crunchy spring roll wrap and drenched in heavy syrup. This was an excellent dessert and wrap up to a great lunch. We were so stuffed, we had to skip dinner!

The most fun part was trying to determine what flavors/items were in each layer of the dessert cup. The halo halo wasn't overly sweetened and was just the perfect blend of creamy and refreshing.

Everyone I talked to was talking about this place so of course we had to go…read more Nice little place doing a brisket business when we went on Saturday afternoon. Lots of seating, good for groups. You order then sit (I believe) as thats what most people were doing. They bring you your food (think pancake & Waffles) when it's ready and you grab your own condiments. I ordered The Bento because I couldn't make up my mind. It included rice, mac salad,1 slice spam, Mochiko Chicken, BBQ Beef, and 2 large pieces of Shrimp Katsu. Mochiko Chicken is light and crispy and the Shrimp Katsu was battered and huge. The BBQ Beef was succulent and juicy however the sauce wasn't overwhelming. Spam is spam. The rice was a tad dry however the mac salad was good. I did not eat any of the other plates however since all were empty, Im assuming it was Ono. Next to the register there is a display case with various desserts. The next day going home, we stopped by to grab some dessert. The Lava Rocks come in a pair at $5.50. Moist, soft and super chocolaty. The chocolate haupia bar was very nice and not overly sweet. The Chantilly brownie was very chocolaty with a hint of Chantilly and nuts only on top. Both bars were a Shareable size. Overall the staff is very helpful and friendly, the restaurant itself, very bright & open and the food was very Ono! Highly recommend.
