What really bothered me was seeing the sandwiches being placed on receipt paper instead of the counter or cutting boards. That seemed extremely unsanitary, especially considering receipt paper contains BPA and shouldn't be in direct contact with food. Then at checkout, I mentioned they had run out of pink lemonade and asked if I could just grab a Gatorade instead after already spending $45 on three sandwiches. The cashier looked at the other employee, they stared at each other awkwardly, and one of them said, "I'm not doing it." The other finally rolled her eyes and said, "Just give it to her." The whole experience felt unprofessional and uncomfortable, like customers were inconveniencing the staff just by being there. It should be called "croutons soup". Such a disappointment, specially that they do not offer salads if someone is trying to avoid bread. First, I screwed up my order, the 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup--I meant to ask for my turkey/ham/cheese/croissant sandwich COLD, so it was served hot. My bad! I brought the sandwich back up to the counter after the server brought it to my table, and the line staff could not have been more apologetic! I say, "hey, it was my fault, not yours", but yet they felt so disappointed I wasn't happy with the sandwich and were so apologetic that I felt badly. A new sandwich was promptly brought back to my table. Not only was the sandwich great, but twice more before we left, a manager (or someone who could have been the manager) stopped by to make sure I was enjoying my meal and to ask if there was anything else they could do for me. I've been to nearly every "fine" dining establishment in El Paso, and from my own first-hand experience, it is rare that a manager every stops by to say hello and to ensure the experience is meeting my expectation, much less a casual dining outlet. It's almost unheard of at a causal dining place. The restaurant was sparkling clean and busy, so they're really watching the dining room like hawks, which is also rare. How many times to you observe a casual dining place filled with dirty tables, discarded trash everwhere, utensil dispensers out of utensils, unkept salad bars. Not here. Spotless and impeccable! The team's pride is abundantly apparent. Hat's off to the Jason's Deli on Remcon.
