Once I stepped in, the place had a horrid smell. As I went through to see the puppies in the windows, all of them looked extremely sad. One employee was cleaning the window and the dog kept hitting himself against the window. There was poop in the cages and not cleaned which led to the dogs stepping in their poop. I went in looking and I wanted to see one of the dogs in person. And I asked one of the lady employees. I'm assuming she's the manager, and she said "are you actually looking to purchase?" Jeez what a question. Maybe I was, shouldn't you always have positive intentions when it comes to customer service. I said maybe I was, but not anymore. She said oh you know the dogs being exposed to colds and bacteria. Okay, but your cages looked filthy so I think I would be healthier than those cages. Never coming back to this place. Updated - so it seems the owner responded and said I was rude from the beginning? I wasn't rude because I remember clearly what the conversation was about. She asked me if I was looking, I said yes just browsing. End of conversation. Okay sure reply to my review a month later and say that I was rude. Great customer service here. read more

Just Don't! Its a Pet Store covering for a Breeders poor ill pups and Mill pups that are saved so they look decent. Smushed in glass on wire bottoms, so uncomfortable. Every puppy is cute till you find out the price. Go to a Reputable Breeder, which they never have, and meet the lineage. These poor pups are bought and taken home just days away from dire situations many times. I went to see if the conditions, smell, cleanliness and personality of the pups were ok because so many legal issues come from here. I was not approached until I stayed at one particular cage, watching a fatigued pup who looked like, "I'm still at the Mill". No playfulness, just looking to sleep on top of another. Today our relationship with NY Breeders comes to an end after 7 days of what was supposed to be a very pleasant and momentous occasion of bringing a puppy into ones family, but rather it was the most unpleasant experience EVER ! I do hope that there is a reply because I would love to see what is said and please don't misconstrue and think I'm being a antagonist but rather I would love to hear some truth in all the smoke and mirrors I noticed... Everything started on he 10/9/17 my fiancee and I have been discussing getting a dog for a while specifically a English Bulldog. We had a name picked out purchased products such as toys, blankets, you know the little things, we even knew what color we wanted him to be because we had been looking at online pictures of all types and we had decided EXACTLY what we wanted. Essentially we are the informed consumers that are not impulsive when buying ANYTHING. Now I had done all the reading and knew that alot of people ("breeders and stores") don't sell them younger than 8-9 weeks. I TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD THIS... BUT ! Upon going to the shop I hung out with a couple of the puppies and I told the lady that was helping us we want a puppy that's as young as possible not one that's more than 3 months... She over and over kept telling me that it can't be too young I reiterated every time I understand but I prefer something very specific and she then said well we can do a special order. So I said ok I'm up for it how does it work, she said it starts with a deposit of $500.00 and we will work for you finding the puppy you want with the many breeders we work with. She then says ok I have pictures of the puppy you want look at these three pick the one you want and we are going to make it happen... So the lady was very nice set us up with everything she said I'll call you by mid week next week (supposed to call 10/18/17) to let you know where we stand but most likely by Friday of next week he will be here waiting for you (Her words not mine, I REMEMBER EVERYTHING). Just before we left she said make sure to review us and I said well ain't that funny we yelp everywhere we go now ! So we left very happy very satisfied because she said her guy had already purchased the dog and was ours. So Friday 10/13/17 we got a call I was on YouTube and very excitedly answered because I recognized the number ! She even remarked how fast I had answered !!! So this conversation is where everything starts going downhill. She tells me that there's a problem I say oh really and she says we won't be able to deliver the dog within the time frame she had, as she said estimated, so clearly we were very upset and I asked why she said because the breeder doesn't want to give the dog up yet... So essentially I already had a deposit on a specific dog and wasn't going to be getting the dog because the breeder didn't feel comfortable with giving the dog up just yet. I was irate at what I was hearing and made it clear that I wasn't happy so she then says well I gave you a time frame but it could fluctuate more than what I told you... I reiterated I wasn't happy and she just said well we aren't getting the dog when we said you were so it may take another week and that the call was just to keep me in the loop... She said I'll call you back in a day or two. Update Haha it was never about the money ?! Then why are you in business ? This place is full of manipulating sales people who are con artist. Do yourself and your family a favor and go to a rescue place instead of spending a fortune here for nothing but headaches and problems. They are scammers. The poor dogs that sit in cold crates all day long with no beds or pillows or attention. They make up prices as they go along and they give you a contract after you pay. Never mentioning it before. They conveniently leave the warranty out of your paperwork. They say the have dog training and what they really mean is they train their staff to lie because there is no training. I am responding to the comment made by the store stating I did not buy a puppy here. I have bought a puppy here. The people here are very rude. They said they offer training. When we asked for the training before bringing the puppy home, the lady Robin showed my eight-year-old son how he can train the puppy. That was their training I asked the woman if they would train the puppy they said no we're training you and she giggled. When we brought the puppy home, The puppy was sick throwing up all night. When I called to let them know that the puppy was throwing up and had diarrhea, they told me that was normal. I ended up taking the puppy to a vet who told me that that was not normal. When I called again, they dismissed my concerns and told me I should've picked up on that before bringing the puppy home. read more

We called in advance requesting information on a specific breed of puppy we were interested in, and then made an appointment to come in and see. Upon arriving after a 40 minute drive, they let us know that the particular puppy we were interested in had been reserved and bought before we arrived. No call was made in advance to inform us. Once there, we asked about another puppy we happened upon. The woman helping us told us the price was exceptionally high, while another employee said the dog was a wopping $1,000 less than what the previous employee stated? They also refused to provide any information on the parents or breeder, and were visibly annoyed when we asked. Overall, poor experience with the employees and left discouraged that we weren't made aware that the puppy we were looking for was already sold. read more

I didn't want to purchase a dog, but I did want to check out this company to see if they were on the level. I don't want to deal with any company that deals with puppy mills. I asked about where the dogs came from and that I wouldn't want to purchase anything without knowing where they came from. I was never given a straight answer. I was told that they would give me the source when I got the dog. I asked them about specific dogs that were there and where they were from and they wouldn't answer me. They would say "you can't be 100% sure where the dog is from" which is true, but I like to have 100% transparency when I'm about to make a huge purchase like this. Just tell me the breeder where they are from and if I think they are suitable enough, I will make a purchase. I thought it was very telling when they wouldn't even discuss this kind of information. I did end up spending some time with a couple of the dogs and had a great time, but I believe those dogs could have used a bath. Their hair was a bit matted. I'm always a bit sad when I leave a shop like this, but that's not a statement against this shop, I just want every dog to have a forever home and to live a life filled with love. I don't know what happens if you make a purchase here because my gut told me not to go through with one and that is why I am not going to leave anything less than 3 stars. On the plus side: they have a great variety of dog supplies and had deals for grooming and behavior training that seemed to be on the level. Also, Christian is a great employee for them to have. After our Boston Terrier crossed the rainbow bridge, my husband and I were scammed by a breeder. We, by chance, walked into NY breeder just to see if they had a Boston. And under a pile of French bulldogs was his litttle Boston butt. I immediately asked to see him. It was love at first sight. We noticed he had a cough. Right away, Robin talked to Linda and they made a call to the vet to get him checked out. The next day he was seen and was put on antibiotics. Linda and Robin said that he would need to stay there until he was checked by the doctor again and was cleared. We visited him every day. They made it clear that the puppy would only be able to come home once his health was 100%. And for that, I am thankful. 2 weeks later, he was cleared to come home but then the little booger got cherry eye. When we came to visit him, they explained that he would need a procedure done and that he would need to stay so they could treat and clean his eye. Then on my birthday, we got the call that he could come home! For the past 3 weeks, the team at NY Breeder took such great care for our Snoop and really helped my husband and I out. They have become 'family' HUGE SHOUT OUT to Christian and Gina too!!!! My husband and I are so happy to have our little guy! read more

First and foremost I would like to say that I'm very upset with the dishonesty and lack of professionalism with this establishment. In July, 2020, I came in to purchase a puppy. I left my $500.00 deposit because I was VERBALLY told My puppy would arrive in a couple of weeks, if not my deposit would be returned. That's the only reason why I left the deposit in the first place. Two days later I called and told them that I wanted a different breed and they quoted me a price $3000. I agreed to that. I asked her if she could please reimburse my deposit and she declined. I waited another month I contacted her and she started yelling at me telling me that I needed to stop the nonsense because the franchise employees have been calling me for months and that I needed to stop lying. I NEVER received a call from anyone!!!I I then asked her if I could speak to the owner and she replied by saying I already told him about you and he doesn't want to speak to you. I was so upset that I hung up the phone and was crying because the unprofessionalism that I have experienced was uncalled for. 20 minutes later, Anne Marie Mancuso calls me and emails to LET me know that she has found a puppy. But get this they jacked up the price to $5000. Really? I'm not going to pay $5000 while I was quoted $3000. She then stated " you never wanted a puppy anyway and you'll never get your refund!. My friend and I came in here, I was looking for a new puppy and she was looking for a kitty. We came in on Friday at 4:30 (1/8/21) and no one was in the store besides us. We were not greeted so we said hello to the receptionist and she looked at us, grinned, and looked back at her phone to continue watching the show she clearly cared a lot about. After 10 minutes of her not acknowledging us I eventually asked the price of the kitty my friend was interested in, the receptionist did not even look up and said "they start at 4000" in such a degrading tone as if we would never be able to afford her/him. An older couple walked in and she immediately jumped up and all the staff came to the front and was helping them and completely ignoring us. My friend has been looking for a Persian cat and was so excited when she finally found one but after the way we were treated there was no way we are giving them business. I used this place for my puppy's grooming. Depending on who is working there you can get treated with a lot of care and attention or you can get a nasty attitude and yelled at for no fault of your own. Twice I have scheduled a grooming appt and have been called 15 mins prior to my appt being told that the groomer had an emergency. I understand emergencies happen and I hope everything was okay with the groomer, but to have my appt cancelled twice and been given 10 mins notification with the same reasoning is peculiar. Once when I was speaking to the groomer, she told me that if she doesn't have too many appts scheduled for the day, then she will try to reschedule because she doesn't just want to come in for one appt....ok that's great customer service! Of course being a customer I was frustrated that I rescheduled my entire day to have my puppy make it to her 1030 appt, and then when I'm on my way, I get a call that appt is cancelled! This happening for the 2nd time, I was frustrated and wanted to let the receptionist know this has happened before. In a frustrated yet calm manner I started making my case, only to get spoken to rudely and yelled at over me. First thing about working is customer service. You have inconvenienced your customer so if I'm frustrated, know how to handle it Melissa. I also got my puppy here. They try to sell you a thousand different products you don't need, so be aware. And they also claim they have life training, but if you go in with any questions the trainers are condescending, judgmental and not that helpful. One star because The groomer is good, so if you have an open schedule and are ok with getting cancelled on then try to schedule , otherwise save yourself the trouble. My daughter got a frenchie 3 months ago and poor thing came home with a parasite called Giardia and her immune system not developed completely. We are still dealing with it and still spending hundreds of dollars at the vet, since she still so small for heavy meds. My wife and I went into this store, as we had spoke about getting a boxer for a while. Low & behold, we went in and there was a fawn boxer, however he was extremely underweight and had zero energy, which is not normal for boxers. We asked if we could go in one of the rooms with this dog, and he seemed very ill. He pooped in the room and it was pure diarrhea and his ribs were literally sticking out! My wife and I were kind of concerned and needed to discuss outside of the store. When they put the puppy back in the crate, we noticed his space was covered in poop. I asked the staff how old was the puppy, and they told us 6 weeks. I then asked how long they had him and they said nearly 2 weeks. This meant he was separated from his mother far too early and this could explain a lot about his physical appearance and sickness. We felt so bad we decided we needed to help this dog, and so called the store to place a deposit, and went back to pick him up the next day. We took him home and all he wanted to do was sleep, and we would not eat a thing. We called the store and they told us to scramble him some eggs, which we did and he eat it. We woke up the next day, and he had thrown it up and there was diarrhea everywhere. The store gave us a free vet visit to a local veterinary surgery so we called them and describes his symptoms. They told us we needed to bring him in immediately. When we did, they examined him and said we were lucky to get him in today (Saturday) as they're closed on Sundays and they did not think he would have made it one more day in his condition. He had to stay in the vets for 4 days and 3 nights!! We could not believe it. When we picked him up, he was a little better and started to eat. After a few days, the diarrhea stopped, but we have always struggled to get his weight up. Our dog is now 2 years old, and in this time he has had giardia and meningitis! Our vet thinks this was due to such a rough start in life and being so ill and underweight. We paid approx $2500 for our pup but we feel like we rescued him. We dread to think what would have happened if we had not gone in and found him that day. The only good thing to come out of our visit to this store, is we have managed to save a beautiful boxer and give him a good life, but let me stress, this has taken 2 years! I would say avoid this place, unless you want to rescue a puppy but pay pedigree prices for the pleasure. read more

My puppy had kennel cough and we were told she was fit for sale. They recommend you to a vet of their own which tries to get you on a program but charges you 500 to get on it. The vet misdiagnosed my dog. I took my dog to an emergency vet after having kennel cough for over two months. The emergency vet had made us aware that the vet NY Breeder recommended shouldn't have even vaccinated her while having kennel cough and that she was extremely sick. I can't speak for everyone about this but my experience at NY breeder was really great. The staff was extremely nice and knowledgeable and they didn't pressure me to do anything I didn't want to. They gave me ample time to spend with the dog and before even touching the dog they made sure I sterilized first. The place was very clean and the staff were very picky I picked out an adorable little schnauzer and I'm so in love with her. Two visits to the vet and she is super healthy and doing great. No illnesses that you would expect and it's been almost four weeks. She is also just so good and house training has been a breeze. Thank you NY breeders for such a wonderful experience and for those who say don't buy your dog and adopt I think if you can find the dog you like in a rescue place then go for it. I looked for months and I could not find the dog that fits my lifestyle and my likes. I tried an independent breeder but they were booked forever so this was my only choice. I will start off this review by stating that I am a first time dog owner and am horribly embarrassed that I didn't do my homework on either NY Breeder or the "Breeders" that they work with prior to visiting the store. Had I done any research, I would have NEVER set foot in this store after experiencing deceptive sales tactics, Puppy Mills, pushy salespeople and a downright rude owner. As others have said, if I could give less than 1 star, I would, but I will break down my experience to best paint the picture for all of you and hopefully I can convince you to please stay away from this place as they are out to rip you off and truly do not care about humanely raised dogs. I initially went in to look at different dogs and to experience different breeds as to decide which ones I'd be interested in looking into adopting. As you can probably guess, I met a handsome Dachshund puppy that I fell in love with. I was told that he was the last of his litter that didn't already have a deposit on him and that I could take him home that day if I wanted but if I waited, he'd be gone quickly. After inquiring about the breeder and his history, I was told that he came from a "family breeder" that does not even breed dogs as a primary business and that NY Breeder had a "long standing relationship" with this family and that the breeder was "5 star certified from the American Kennel Club." I reviewed his birth certificate, saw pictures of his parents and reviewed his AKC purebred paperwork and agreed to purchase for $2500 plus tax. This is where everything started to go downhill. The employee, Robin, had taken him for a bath to clean him up. The dog had something in his eye and were told that the bath would clean it as it was just gunk. The employees then proceeded to pressure me into buying ~$600 worth of items from their store - they walked me around and put everything into a cart and told me that they were all mandatory for the dog. After politely declining, I was told that legally I had to buy a bag of food, so I did so. I left and was given a free veterinary exam if I went to their "preferred vet" and was told that I needed to do a fecal exam within 4 days as it was common for dogs to pick up a parasite in the store but that they'd pay for treatment should it come back positive. I finally got him home and settled when I began to google the Breeder where the dog came from and this is where I began to feel sick. I encourage you to Google: Paul and Sheila Haag, Valley View Kennel. This so called "family breeder" was in fact one of the nation's largest Puppy Mills, producing 800 puppies in 1 year with multiple citations from the USDA around animal welfare. Little did I know that the 5 Star Rating from the AKC says NOTHING about the welfare of the animals, the condition in which they were raised or the condition of the parents; it simply validates purebred heritage (please read more about the AKC - they actually stand in the way of Puppy Mill legislation and are an association of breeders themselves.) After reading all of this online, I decided against going to the suggested free vet, did my research and found a fantastic local vet in Brooklyn. After an exam and some tests, my pup was diagnosed with multiple intestinal parasites, an upper respiratory infection causing an eye infection, and had to have 2 vaccinations re-administered because they were given too early to be effective - all-in costing about $300 additional to my new puppy healthy. I gathered all of the medical records, invoices and had a detailed letter from my vet stating his conditions, treatments and her diagnosis that she believed that the parasites and infection were due to unsanitary conditions and were very common among "pet store dogs." This is where I started some extremely negative dealings with the owner, Gary. He was combative, negative and rude. He pushed me to get more and more paperwork from the vet documenting her findings and after 2 weeks of his curt and rude emails,he agreed to pay for none of the $300 vet bill for conditions that the dog had when he was purchased. I have screen shots of emails similar to other reviewers that are just downright rude. In summary, I am the only person to blame for perpetuating the horrible Puppy Mill / Pet Store industry. I cannot blame anyone but myself, but I want to save others from making the same mistakes that I did. If you want a dog in the greater New York area, there are plenty of options for upstanding breeders that you can go directly to (and probably save yourself some money too.) For Dachshunds, there are accredited breeders all over the NY/NJ/CT area http://www.dachshundclubofamerica.org/dca-breeder-directory/ but whatever you do, please do not go to this place. I live in the city but recently took the drive all the way to Westchester county to get my beautiful Havanese pup. I was greeted by two employees, sat in the room with her and immediately fell in love. Gary the store owner showed me exactly what I need for her and set me up with the first free visit to the Vet. I have to say I will be back, everyone was ridiculously helpful and professional. They even helped me to the ucar with everything. The store is very clean and while I was looking in the window of the other pups they all looked very lively and in very clean cages! I recommend this store anytime. I was both saddened and horrified this am, stopped in to look and saw a large Rottweiler sitting in a cramped cage in his own fecus. All the dogs in wire cages, cramped and no padding whatsoever for comfort. This is horrible for these dogs. Heartbreaking. read more

This is a great example of a puppy mill store. The puppies look very cramped, forced to stay in the same compartment, playing around in each others pee and poo. The receptionists here are basically businessmen. They try to haggle with you, to get the most money they can. The puppies here are very overpriced; AKC approved breeders sell their pups for less. The pet store smells unhealthy and shady, even the glass won't be able to hide away the scent. Please, please, please do not support puppy mills. Please take your time to do research and find a legit breeder and meet the parents of your pups. A puppy is a new baby. Please be patient. Please be very cautious. Please don't resort to buying a pup from a pet store just because you want a puppy quick and easy. read more

NY Breeders is the absolute worse store. I would give this germ infested store ZERO STARS if I could. I purchased a dog from them, spent $2500 on the dog and an additional $2000 plus on vet bills the first month. The dog had a parasite and kennel cough which turned into canine flu (which could be deadly to a dog). BEWARE, the owner Gary doesn't return calls and the staff goes from pleasant to rude instantly once you call with a complaint. Needless to say, I never was reimbursed the additional money I had to pay my vet to save this sick puppy's life. This store sold me a sick puppy with kennel cough and parasites after giving her a clean bill of health. The store smells like poop but I didn't realize they could charge me nearly $6,000 for a sick puppy bc I gave them the benefit of the doubt. She was making the sound in the store but as a first time dog owner I was exploited as I didn't know what it meant. They have a system where they set you up with a vet and they pay for a few costs and so they ramped up the price of my puppy because they knew she had health stuff. The paperwork you sign means you don't get your money back unless you return the dog, they are cruel and the worst. The manager literally called and said too bad and also yelled at me. Stay far away. Update as of 7/23 - My puppy did not receive even one free day of training as per the "lifetime training" promise and documents, neither were any of her vet bills reimbursed. The store went silent after threats to hurt me if i come there. New vet confirmed it's a puppy mill operation and she knows the place as does the police department in the town. read more

The emotional strain my family and I have faced in the past 24 hours, all at the hand of NY Breeders is a rather phenomenal achievement. It is nothing, however, when compared to what a beautiful 7 month old Japanese Chin name Eloise suffered over the last 5+ months, living in deep physical pain under their watch, and without the proper medical care. Eloise suffers from several severe congenital malformations -- something that became apparent to me upon her purchase. My father is a vet and the moment he saw her he became more-or-less enraged because she was in such poor physical condition. Many of you out there may be wondering what I expected, purchasing a puppy from a pet store (aka directly from a puppy mil). And you're right -- pet stores in general are "zero star" places. Pet stores and puppy mil's are something I personally don't believe in, and have never done before...and it's sort of a long story how I ended up there, with Eloise in my arms in the first place. Perpahs it's true that by stepping into that pet-shop, I am guilty of propagating the exploitation of animals. But I did not keep Eloise sick; I did not sell her sick. NY Breeders ignored Eloise's medical needs. I They sold a dog that was clearly not fit for sale, and after an equally horrendous encounter with their veterinarian, I believe they did so knowingly. Only after TWO veterinarians acknowledged her various illnesses, they were willing to take back the dog (and likely euthanize her) and give me a full refund. Or I could keep the dog and they would pay "required vet bills" for her medical needs. Which does not include the ophthalmologist and neurologist consults I have for her on Monday. I will end up spending five times what I purchased on her (and that is a wildly conservative number). And they were rude, inconsiderate, and literally said "we are not giving you a free dog" when we asked for our money back but said we wanted to keep her and take on all her health problems ourselves. Places a dog like Eloise is incredibly difficult. She will have health problems all of her life. She may have a seizure disorder, she may need her eyes removed. She is a wildcard. And NY Breeders not only took $1500 of my money, but is now refusing to pay for the consults necessary to get her the proper treatment. I understand better than anyone what it's like falling victim to the "cute puppy in the window" I can't even say I regret this horrible experience because it brought me my Eloise. But this man, this company is not worth it. read more

When you first walk in the place seems to be very clean and organize the sales person is very knowledgeable and sells a good game but they charge me a lot of money for a puppy and now that I'm having medical problems with the puppy they will not acknowledge it and the last two emails I sent were rejected as a spam mail I think this is ridiculous and something needs to be done upon waiting on the reviews I see that other people have had the same problem I would be ashamed of myself if I did this to people hard-working people I want nothing more than A little baby to keep them happy they take a vantage of your heart don't go in here and spend your hard earned money read more
