The one star is for the grooming. Whenever a groomer will not let you in with your animal leave them immediately. Would you let a doctor examine your child without you there? They have had a terrible reputation for grooming forever. Our first review was about PETSMART in Mahopac. So is this review. Because I moved and have been going there for 25+ years, but not in person because now where you got older and sicker and more disabled; we try to get AutoShip. Total goddamn disaster. My vet told us not to order the cat litter. That's supposed to detect UTIs in cats because they actually give cats UTIs. That's how much PETSMART cares. I wouldn't let them groom, my cat, even if she were dead. Rob, the manager just ended up screaming my name three times because I guess I irritated him by the incompetence of his corporation. He came up with some avalanche BS BECAUSE I'M NO LONGER IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM BECAUSE I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE SINCE THE PANDEMIC. The little plastic card thingy fell off the keychain because it's so old that it broke and nothing we did could fix it to stay on the keychain We've been going there for 25+ years, but no he can't find me in his computer and now you're going to raise your voice at me. The reason I don't let my husband make these phone calls is because he has very high blood pressure and wow, you don't wanna know him when he's pissed off Please never leave your pet there for grooming. And yes, they do lie about how you don't need a prescription for prescription food so you get all the way up there and then you leave empty-handed. Do you know how much money we spent there in the last 30 years? At one point we had 11 cats. We were supposed to just be foster parents for the pregnant mother and her five kittens and we could not keep them all because 11 cats is too many cats to take care of financially for us. We also live in a small space and cats like their space. So I also shopped there because I was a volunteer for this alleged cat rescue place. They just killed all the sick kittens, she personally is a millionaire and she takes donations. I do think her alleged rescue organization is called cat rescue. Yuck to everything. Sorry if you don't like our review but we're only taking the trouble to tell you now so no other animal gets hurt. I booked my dog's grooming appointment online and added matting removal as an extra service, since he had a few small tangles. When I arrived, the groomer informed me there would be additional charges because he believed the matting was more severe than I had indicated. Although I didn't think it was that bad, I allowed him to go ahead with shaving, based on his recommendation. Despite shaving him down, I was still charged an extra $80 for matting removal. After I paid, when I came to pick up my dog, they made a point to show me where the Venmo codes were for tipping. I had some issues with Venmo at the time, so I decided to handle the tip later from home. Once I got home, I noticed that both of my dog's ears had been cut, and now he has significant scars. It's clear they applied some kind of powder to the wounds, but they never mentioned the injuries to me at any point. Needless to say I will not be back. read more

I drove to the store and they had sold the last one. I wouldn't have driven here (after I called to ensure they had the product I was looking for) had I known that they not had it in stock. We did a six week beginner class for our 6 month old pup, Coco, and trainer Gustavo was amazing. He is very knowledgeable and truly cares about the dogs. He would check in with us every class and ask us how our at home training has been going and if we had any problems that we would like to go over. Grooming Service This place SUCKS! I should have listened to my gut feeling on this one. My regular groomer from a different and professional shop was out of town so I took my Yorkie here. I was sold on their Hollywood video. This place had a ghetto feel to it from the get-go My poor dog was butchered, when I asked what happed the groomer explained that she used a 1/4" clip on the electric shears. My Yorkie had almost bald spots in some areas and looked awful. Long haired dogs like this are supposed to be layer cut, not buzz cut for boot camp. They have a Hollywood style video on how professional and extensive the training is for their groomers. It's total BS. My groomer here was like hiring a professional artist and the artist shows up with paint by numbers. Another problem I had was that I booked the first morning appointment and they put the dog in the kennel in the back and wasn't ready for four hours. When I got the dog back she smelled awful and was soiled with some thing from the kennel There were also few other unprofessional mishaps which I won't even get into. Would I go back ? NO! Would I recommend this place to a friend? NO! Would I recommend this place to an enemy? I don't think I dislike anyone that much! read more

This was my puppies first time being groomed and I must admit his haircut is pretty terrible. Very choppy and blunt and although I paid for the additional condition etc he still had some visible dandruff at the time of pickup. I only gave a 4 rating because he is clean and smells good! Took my dog to grooming salon. To begin with, the amount of space for the grooming salon patrons is very small. One would think that because grooming can be anxiety provoking to some dogs the space would be bigger. Upon entering the groomer checking us in was quite helpful. As she did evaluation on dogs hair, another groomer who had nothing to do with the situation intruded on the conversation wondering why my dog was sensitive around her paws. This person proceeded to wonder why this was so, demanding an answer as to why the dog was anxious. The groomer clearly wanted me to state something was wrong and they would not be able to provide a service. Spoke over me and rudely insinuated my understanding of the situation was wrong. To clarify this conversation was going on while she was grooming another shaking dog on a table. Instead of concentrating on her work she decided to intrude on a conversation. To those complaining about cuts and issues with grooming, now you know why. Additionally, after denying service, another patron explained that her dog which had been groomed there before was cut on his tail. PetSmart did not inform them and this was an issue. Moral of the story, save yourself from the attitude and poor quality service. Go somewhere else. read more

And to make matters worse, they tacked on an additional $20 for dematting/brushing/scissors when from the looks of our pup there was nothing left to cut or demat. Dropped my two pups off for doggy day care while i went into the city for the day. I've done the day care at a Southern California location and the experiences were very different. At this location, it took a while for someone to come over for drop off and pick up. When someone did finally come over, they were very friendly. I left dog food with them and i didn't receive my reusable dog food lid back. I completely forgot about that until i was already gone. We purchased a pb Kong snack add on but i doubt they ate it since they hardly touched their food, was still charged for it though. At the other location, i received a detailed report card at the end. I didn't get that here. Maybe they forgot. if i didn't ask someone, i would've had no idea how their stay was. My dogs seem like they had fun, and at the end of the day, that's all i really care about. read more

BEWARE: Doggy Day Camp...our dog has been going for years and received top rate care. However, recently there's been major turnover including the manager, Helen. They don't seem to actually care for the pets anymore. In fact, we went on vacation for two weeks and when we told them we wanted daily, individual play, the guy saiid "Daily?!", like it wasn't in his job description. We got back and our dog has lost significant weight. She always loses a little when we're away but this is significant. As we were coming home from JFK we called to let them know and when we'd be arriving. They still didn't have her ready and couldn't find all of her stuff. I honestly would give 0 if I could based solely on customer service. I went in to buy a small item and got on a checkout line behind 1 person who was payng. As soon as that transaction was complete the cashier left the register to talk to a customer who has just walked into the store. Mind you there were 2 employees standing next to the entrance talking to each other that could have helped. I didn't say anything, just waited. When the cashier was done with the customer she proceeded to talk to her co workers who were now looking right at me waiting. The cashier turned to me and said she would be with me in a minute. Then I got upset. I put down the item and walked past the 3 employees and stated, "I guess I'm not shopping here today " As I was walking out one started to offer to help. Too little too late. I went straight to Petco and was in and out in a few minutes with great customer service. They forget to take them on walks, they take forever to clean the waste out of the dogs cages, they forget to put home belongings from pet parents in their rooms to make their stay more comfortable, and the employees do not take there job serious at all. We kept our dog for an overnight stay at this PetSmart PetsHotel. Upon check out we found a deep red wound underneath her thigh. They did something terrible to her and denied all knowledge of it! Our dog hates to be groomed which is why we have usually done it for the last 14 years. He got very matted and wouldn't let us near him so we decided to let the pros handle it. Daniel, our groomer, couldn't have been nicer. We let him know about Louie's issues and he went to work. Do to the age of the dog they wouldn't muzzle him so they couldn't finish his head. He'd had enough and was biting the instruments. So, they gave us a significant discount. When the going got rough the manager stepped in and helped out and said she would personally handle him in the future. And to top it all off, he never looked so good!!! In this era where service and integrity is so hard to find anywhere in any trade, the folks at PetSmart Greenburg showed me there are still a few people who care. My first experience with an express deshedding was great. My pups shed considerably less. The second time I went there was no difference in shedding at all. I have 2 dogs who attend full time 7-5pm day camp here in Greenburgh. One who has been going for 5 months now and one who just started 2 weeks ago. Play time is from 9-5 which is cut a little short for "unloading and loading" of the pups into the play rooms. The staff is very polite and courteous. They know both my dogs and will update me daily upon pick up how things were. The rooms aren't as big as i would like considering both my dogs are in big camp, but they are both exhausted when they come home so that's good enough for me. I bring my own food and if i forget they can supply their food for us. I see a lot of the same doggies at camp which makes me happy to know that the pups have reoccurring friends to hang out with daily. U get a lot of points when u are a reg customer so i get free days and they have fun festive holiday parties as well where they take pics of the dogs and send to your email. They also take video and pics to upload to IG so u can see your pup in action. The few things I would like are a live feed, bigger play rooms, and outdoor exercise. But u cant beat the prices. Compared to an independent day camp which is almost double the price for less hours. I am very pleased with our experience for both pups and will continue to take them here. read more

We made a reservation at this pet smart for our dog to stay at their pet hotel. When we called with plenty of time in advance to enquire about their procedures the told us she would need to have her rabies shot which we took care of. On the day of our trip we tried to drop our dog off just for them to tell us they could not take her, with little explanation as to why they did not tell us about any other vacccines needed when we called prior to making the reservation, leaving us completely unprepared. Not only do the girls that they have working at their counter look miserable but they lack customer service. I do NOT recommend this pet hotel to anybody and will not purchase anything from this place again. read more
