I brought my Portuguese Water Dog here several times. The first time, I arrived when they were finishing up with him and he was yelping loudly when they were pulling hair out of his ear canal. I spoke to them about it and they said they would be more careful next time. He left the groomer shaking his head for hours. The next time, I reminded them re his ears. He left with hematomas on his ears and shaking his head. I have had these breed for decades and have worked with many groomers. I have never had this negative experience with another groomer. My dog is still terrified when we walk by this groomer's door. Now we have a groomer who my dog is excited to see and absolutely no issues with his ears or otherwise. I also had scheduling issues with the groomer and they were not polite or apologetic. read more

We always take our dog here. They're very reliable. We usually drop off and they call us when he's ready to be picked up. We can leave while he's being groomed because it takes a really long time for them to dry him. His fur is super thick. We've Ben having issues with his dewclaws and they've helped us to keep them trim and not an emergent problem. The staff is nice and you can watch them groom all the dogs in their care. They are very calm and gentle with your pups. It's evident in the way in which all the dogs behave in their care. Our Keiji always leaves, fresh and clean, with beautiful cream fur and a nice scent...too bad he doesn't stay that way. LOL read more

Brought my dog here for a basic bath and it took over 4 hours, and I was not notified of this possibility ahead of time. While the dogs wait, they are kenneled on the side and many are barking anxiously, creating a pretty stressful environment. If I had known the wait would be that long, or that my dog would be in that environment, I would never have brought him in here. When I picked him up he was shaking and massively dehydrated, so I guess these guys aren't even giving dogs water while they keep them well longer than they should be kept. The bath and nail trim are adequate and affordable, but they clearly have no ability to manage the volume of dogs they are taking in. I would not recommend this place to any dog owner and I would not bring my dog back. read more

Utter disappointment. I brought my standard goldendoodle in for a trim, bath and blowdry for our first ever visit there. Having been met with great recommendations, I was excited for our doodle! HOWEVER- I was "greeted" at the desk by a staff member saying "he needs to be shaved." She reported he was "fully matted" which is untrue. I asked if they could take time to brush out the less than 3 knots he had on his underleg and chin and she replied "no that takes too long to do, we need to shave him." The team here needs to work on customer service skills. Working with clients and entrusting their pets to them, Paws on Fifth ought to be more flexible with clients and not meet first time customers with such attitude and inability to be flexible....well, now, never time customers. Not only have I known the owner for 20 years, but Asher is the type of person to truly learn your animal, help them through the process as if they were a human being. He also only hires people who have a pure love for animals, he's incredibly strict on who he allows to be around your fur babies. They get to know You, the owner and they take the time, to learn how your baby will react to the entire grooming process. He has checklist and even homework assignments to ENSURE above all else that your fur baby is treated with love and care. We love Paws on Fifth!! We bring our 65 pound Aussiedoodle here regularly and after trying multiple places before here we settled on this being the best in the area for us. We usually book our appointments 1-2 weeks in advance & since our dog is long-haired we try to take out any knots in his hair to avoid matting & make sure they have a good foundation to bathe & cut his hair. I think this is a good practice for all pet owners as the groomers cannot spend additional hours detangling every pets' hair that they service without exponentially increasing their prices for the time & effort. Their communication has always been great, the whole process usually takes a few hours & we get a call when he is finished. I'm not sure if its standard for all pets serviced here but I've seen them take dogs on walks to pee and poop. When we first started going we had a few times where we've had to ask for his cut to be adjusted a little because of the way his hair grows in which they were completely understanding of and worked with us to fix. Just tried Paws on 5th for the first time for my Golden Doodle and my toy Yorkie and am blown away with how amazing my fur babies look. Best grooming I've ever got. Such clean lines, beautiful fades and shaping. Both of my dogs are completely different so I showed pictures of how I like them to be groomed and did exactly that! Additionally, I somehow mixed up my dates and times for service. Was supposed to be a Friday morning and I thought it was Saturday morning. So when I called to confirm the timer and realized I mixed up the dates, I asked if they could do me the favor to take them in (on a busy Saturday) because we had Christmas photo shoot on Sunday morning. So they took me in late Saturday night for a 5pm appointment. And just a few hours later, my babies were done and truly looked the best I've ever seen them.
