When I first moved here, I was very nervous on bringing my dog here when I met them, I told them he was 17 mostly blind and deaf. He had skin tags on him, which comes with age. The owner assured me he would be in good hands he looked ok and liked the owner and her reassurance , the last time they told me they couldn't shave him because of the skin tags I get it, so they were going to cut his hair as close as possible. I asked them if I could drop him off right before his appointment. I didn't want him in a cage, scared and afraid and alone and they said no because of timing even though they knew I only lived five blocks away when I picked him up his hair was chopped up and uneven I had to fix it. The owner, who has dogs didn't give mine any respect or regard if you own the shop maybe on certain clients and certain pets you should take more of an interest instead of having some of your untrained staff just cut him because some of his skin tags were cut off, he had dry blood and when I picked him up is there any respect for our older dogs? when we come to you and ask you can you handle this and you say yes we are trusting you. I now drive all the way to Pennsylvania to my mother's Groomer, where he is given the love and respect that he deserves. BTW they shave him with no issues I'm forced to give one star, but I actually wouldn't even give them that read more

I have been grooming poodles for 15 years, am a registered nurse and have very high standards. Paws on Fifth, and specifically Erica is top notch. I have brought my two poodles there for 4 years now and have no compunction about saying they are the best I have ever encountered, sensitive to any variations like ear drainage, careful with areas that are tender, in and out of the shop in timely fashion. Some customers bring matted dogs and have very unrealistic expectations. It is very painful to remove those knots and the dogs must be shaved. All responsible owners should brush and comb their dogs regularly and please don't forget their teeth!!!! Additionally dog grooming is costly for the owners of the shop, insurance, supplies, rent. Dog grooming is very hard work. I unequivocally endorse this groomer for all manner of grooming. My Dandi Grande and Fifi la rousse are walking, living proof of their competence and commitment. read more

This is probably the best place you can ever take your pet professional clean courteous and very accommodating I have never had less than the best experience going here my dogs always leave happy and clean everything is always in the open nothing is ever hidden you can even see your pet being groomed and as for they are not vets they always spot anything not normal that should be look at by a vet underneath the hair and always lets the customer know they are not only dog groomers they are dog lovers a must go to places you will not be disappointed Erica who now owns paws on fifth is top notch i've had dogs all my life and never had been so comfortable Leaving them somewhere as I am at paws on fifth the place is always clean and smells great the staff and sweethearts and as for as many dogs that they groom they never fall to gave each one their absolute own personal attention I love this place and so does my dogs read more

I've been taking my Shih-Poo to Paws on Fifth for almost a year and it is by far hands down the best I've ever used. I live in Scarsdale and travel all the way down to Pelham for my dog grooming needs. They are patient, thorough, respectful and well priced. My dog always got complaints about misbehaving during grooming and even got kicked out of some grooming parlors, but not Paws on Fifth. Never once did Paws on Fifth say anything about Fluffy misbehaving, they always catered to his needs and made him feel comfortable. Best of all, he smells great for weeks. Erica and her team go above and beyond to not only accommodate appointment times but to accommodate your special situations! I have a very elderly dog as well as a dog with an auto immune issue which means she can easily get sick from just being around another dog. Erica takes them at the start or end of the day to makes sure they are in and out safely. Not to mention her groomings are spot on. I sometimes want a puppy cut, full shave or just a bath and all are amazing. She also does a special bath to help our dogs with dry skin which really helps!! I took my 2 pomeranians to Paws on Fifth to get groomed. My dogs are very high strung and nervous. I explained to the owner Erica that they are very nervous and get scared easily. She assured me that she would be gentle with them and not to worry. She made me feel so relaxed and comfortable. Even the atmosphere in the place was comforting. It is the second time I brought my dog to Paws on Fifth and my experience was great. I have a 6 year old Puggle who sheds so much. The new owner, Erica took my appointment last minute the day before both times. Upon entering it is beyond clean and an atmosphere that made me and my dog feel like home. My dog was ready in 2 hours both times and he looked and smelled amazing. His nails were nicely cut and the shedding was much less! Affordable pricing and smiles all around on the employees faces. i was looking for a place to groom my pug Buddy. After taking him to a grooming place that I will not mention, they did a terrible job on him. They take care of my Shitzhu even though he is difficult and at times obnoxious. The staff has always been quick to accommodate an appointment or get him in last minute. Erica is amazing. I take my very nervous 5 year old dachshund mix there for her nails and Erica and her staff do an amazing job keeping her calm. Erika, who now owns Paws on Fifth, is awesome! She has been grooming Guinness, my wheaten terrier, for several years now and always does a fantastic job! Don't be fooled by the negative reviews, the business has a new owner (within the last year) and we had a great experience! They were able to book us an appointment the same day and did a great job with our aussiedoodle and matipoo! The price was also fair (a little less then what we pay in the city). We absolutely love Paws on Fifth! Erica and her team are always so nice, professional, and very accommodating with flexible hours. And most importantly, you can tell they love the dogs! They always do an incredible job with our Mini-Goldendoode -- even when she gets matted from snow or swimming!
