We have been to Pooch Parlor twice now and will never go to another groomer!! Prior to our wedding we decided we did not want to take on the task of grooming our dog (which we usually do). We booked a last minute appointment for the day before our wedding and hoped for the best. We told them just a simply shape up and make him look fresh and clean! We also let them know he is dog selective and best not to be groomed near other dogs since it was his first grooming and we weren't sure if he'd be stressed or anxious. We came back a few hours after dropping him off and he looks stunning!! He was so happy and the groomers said how well behaved he was. We've now decided we'll be taking him a few times a year since nothing can beat that fresh and clean look of a groom!

Their pricing policy changes every visit. I get an excuse that the size of the dog the conditions he's in, etc. After visiting the dog, the third time they should know the size of the dog he hasn't changed. As in the beginning, they gave me the price for a husky. I understand being charged extra when his condition was unmanageable. But once it was manageable, it should've gone back down to the original price However, they did not. They wanted to try charging me again for him being unmanageable when he was in good condition from them only being groomed a month before Each time is a different price with no warning that they're increasing the price. I have received different excuses from the size of the dog to the condition he was in. To each year that they increase their price by five dollars etc. Then I was told that they increase the price and if I compare them to a hairdresser or a lawn maintenance, they don't or inform of their prices increase. The groomers have been lovely and doing a wonderful job. It is the owners pricing policy that needs to be watched.

The positive reviews on Yelp inspired me to bring my dog, a 16-lb. Chihuahua Shiba Inu mix named…read moreSam, for a grooming at Metro Pups. The booking experience on the phone was pleasant enough. I made sure to explain that he is a heavy shedder given his Shiba background and needed a very good brushing out. However, after spending 1.5 hours at their shop, my dog looked clean but curiously thick-haired, and hair was falling off of him with every step. I took him home and took my brush to him (the small Ferminator meant for his breed type and size, one that I've been using successfully on him for the six years I've had him), and clumps of his undercoat began coming off. I called Metro Pups and they told me to bring him back for another brushing, but when I did, they got incredibly defensive. They told me their "commercial methodology" - blow-drying my dog as a way to de-shed him and then taking what I saw was a fairly wide-toothed comb to him - was better than mine, and that I should expect him to shed after their de-shedding methods. They even told me that yes, it does sound counter-intuitive, but that's how it is. Among the excuses: I was told that I don't know my own dog, that my brushing methods all these years are wrong, and that my dog will always shed. Oh, they also told me his hair is falling off because he is "excited." Having had Sam for six years, I know he will *always* shed, but also know from my own thorough brushings of him, and from taking him to other groomers, what a good, proper brushing looks like. This was not it. I left Metro Pups and spent 30 minutes brushing Sam, yielding a beach ball-sized pile of hair - I took a picture after I threw half of it out, but have attached here a bit of what I took off. It's clear that they did not take the time to properly brush my dog, or if they did, used methods that are not up to par. Including tip, that's $62 hard-earned dollars, plus my time, down the drain. I would not recommend this place if you expect a thorough brushing / de-shedding of your pup.

Always has a great time & the dogs are well supervised & cared for. The owner & staff are great. They love the dogs and give them the space they need to just be dogs & have fun in a safe environment. They even have activities like pool parties occasionally for some added excitement. A great addition to ossining. Any social and well-mannered dog should have no problem fitting into the pack. My pup started daycare with the owner at 5 months old and now she is almost a year and we've never had any problems or complaints. Just a happy tired doggy

I didn't read reviews about this place before bringing my dog here.... As I continue to read them…read morenow, I see a lot of mix reviews about this place. I took my dog (a 64-pound nonaggressive, submissive pit bull mix) for half a day daycare, when I picked him up, I was notified that he was injured from another dog who had nicked his ear... I was upset that i was not notified of the incident when it had happened. My dog had blood dripping down his ear, onto his coat.. onto my car.. and every time he shook his head it would splatter elsewhere. I was on facetime with my fiancée and we were both surprised because we expected this to be such a fun experience for our dog! he seemed under stress and rushed to get into my car on the way out literally pulling me to leave. I tried to call for the manager and didn't get a call back. I ended up emailing the manager that same evening and got a response back reporting she had been in the ER with a family member the day before and couldn't reach out to me beforehand (totally understandable so i didn't get upset about the delayed response). What I did not like, was the way she downplayed the incident and the fact that I wanted to be notified when my dog is injured in her email to me... she reported she doesn't know me well enough to know I would want to get notified but as any dog parent knows, it's the principle to know- whether its big or small- and who wouldn't want to get notified when their dog is injured. Especially as my dog was actively gushing blood from his ear. It might've not been a big wound, but it was still bleeding a lot. I took my dog to the vet, and he was put on antibiotics. The manager of this location was able to reach out to the other dog's owner to pay for my vet visit, but it was submitted to the account for future visits.. and I no longer feel comfortable leaving my dog at this place. This might work out for others but unfortunately didn't for me!

Update: Read the owner's response but doesn't really address what I wrote. It was kind of them to…read moreaccommodate us -- several other places did too, especially since you can't really schedule a skunk bath that far in advance, skunk's don't make appointments. Her comment is also defensive and inaccurate--I called them around 5 pm. She just didn't get back to us until 9:45 pm. Answering service was told 15-20 min late but didn't say that wasn't ok, I ALSO texted her as a courtesy and she said something different. Had we never texted her IN ADDITION to calling, we would've driven the 45 min to get there and then told we were too late. So much for running an "efficient" business and being "honored" by people who choose them. The Wall Street background lack of people skills is definitely not for every potential customer. Just warning those who, like me, prefer warm and informative communication especially during a moment of distress with my dog. Google reviews also show a pattern of bad, ineffective, and dangerous communication (where dogs were injured). I guess she just doesn't care. Dodged a bullet! Yikes! The owner was SUPER defensive from the jump before we even brought our dog in. That tells me the business has been criticized a lot and she's very tense about it. Not the kind of atmosphere you want for your dog. Hostile and dangerous. The people who work there probably save the place's rep but they'll come and go and it's too risky--go somewhere kinder and actually professional.

When I called to book an appt for my mini golden doodle's wash and cut, I spoke with Kelly. She was very nice and helpful in getting all of my information and finding a time for my dog that week. I met the owner Madeleine upon drop off. My doodle had a good amount of matting on her chest and back legs and I expressed how I didn't want her shaved and to try their best to keep her hair as long as possible. Madeleine was honest with me and said it's going to be hard to keep her hair long with such deep matting, but they would try their best. Upon pickup, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my girl's hair was still long and fluffy. It took about 2.5 hours which was the estimated time they told me. The price was also very fair for a mini golden doodle, $95. I've paid up to $180 for cuts that I didn't like as much as this one. My girl looks beautiful and we'll definitely be going back for future haircuts. Mom and pup approved! Thank you, Petscentrix team.

Unprofessional and complete waste of time. Hi, sharing this…read morereview in case you're looking for a new place to take your loved one (pup) - don't bother coming here. When I first called to make the appointment the young lady was kind and accommodating and we discussed in detail the services I would like for my pup. Very simple - bath, trim, cut nails and brushing of the teeth. My appointment was set for 2:30. They called me around noon to ask if I could arrive at 1pm and I accommodated their schedule. The drive is 20 minutes each way for me. When I arrived the woman at the counter was extremely rude and hasty. Speaking to me with a mouth full of food. She didn't greet me and asked for my information by pointing at my dog (6lb Maltese) asking "who's this one?". When I gave her my pups name and confirmed my initial reservation was at 2:30 and I was called to arrive at 1pm she said "okay bath" and I confirmed the services that I agreed upon - while speaking she proceeded to interrupt me and was very rude. If there was some sort of misunderstanding between myself and the woman who made the reservation (which happens - we are all humans) - there are ways of clarifying without being rude. I don't know if this is how this location conducts business. But it is truly unprofessional and ugly for lack of a better word. I'm happy I didn't leave my dog there. Groomers need to understand - we are leaving our beloved dog in your hands, in your care! - how you present yourself is key! This woman gave this business a very poor image and name and I will be sure to express this experience with my community chat to prevent anyone else this complete waste of time. They're providing a service - we are the paying customer. Kindness and respect goes a long way. Not to mention they've wasted 40 minutes of my time and now my dog isn't even groomed. Don't bother coming here. I drove 20 minutes to be spoken to disrespectfully by someone with a mouth full of food.
