EXCELLENT experience at NY Breeder. My girlfriend and I were looking to add a new puppy to our lives for the first time, but were concerned a lot about which dog may be right for us. When we walked into NY Breeder, we were immediately greeted by Lynda. The appearance of the store was perfect. Very clean and welcoming. There must have been 50 different dog types to chose from! She mad our dreams come true after she figured out exactly what we needed/wanted. She asked multiple questions to make sure we'd find the perfect puppy for us. Once she brought out "Bryce" (puggle) we were amazed and in love. We were looking for a puppy that was small, obedient, and easy to train and of course cute. Not only did she pick the right puppy but was very conscience about our price range. She even worked with a little with pricing to assure we were comfortable with everything and made it happen. You can tell she was very customer oriented and had our best interests in mind. On top of this amazing initial experience, Lynda assured us if we need anything EVER to reach out. The first week we had a lot of questions with Bryce and every time Lynda was there to help and answer our concerns. We not only got a great training seminar from her the day we picked her up, but got a great discount on additional needs. I have been considering adopting a 2nd dog to add to our family and stopped in over the weekend to see what they had available. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was little busy, but not so much that all the associates were busy. There were about 3 people standing behind the sales counter, as well as another one or two on the floor tending to other customers. I circled the room at least three times, stopping at several of the cages to see their selection, and was not asked once if I needed any assistance. Perhaps it was the fact that I was a single woman, because I did notice that any families that arrived after me - be it a couple, or a family with kids - they were immediately helped. I noticed that the majority of the toy breeds looked like they were wet. I don't know if they had been recently bathed and were still damp. Or if their fur was so greasy that they gave the appearance that they were wet. In any event, they looked wet and a bit unkempt. When I finally approached the counter to ask for help, I felt as if I was being cross-examined by a condescending, obnoxious defense attorney. The woman who's name I never got was asking me what I was looking for. When I told her what I was looking for (possible toy breed - maybe larger breed but will be compatible with the dog I currently had), and I started to ask questions, she would snap and say "Well where did you read that? That's a human opinion." Basically she made me feel like a total idiot for even thinking to ask what I felt were valid questions. Here's a suggestion - even if the customer is asking questions that may seem asinine to you, doesn't mean that you're to respond to the client like they're total morons. To me they were valid questions and if anything should show you that I am giving a lot of thought to bringing a new puppy to my home. I'm not just some impulse shopper looking to buy a shiny new puppy to tote around like a fashion accessory. The more this woman talked, the more I tuned her out. I did not show my temper but was hoping that when I stopped making eye contact with her and stopped asking questions that she would take a hint and maybe dial down her speech about alpha dogs and human opinions. She asked me my price point. I told her 2k, and at that point she said most of the dogs are over 2k but they do have payment plans. (WHAT?!) I figured if I could find the right dog, I would be willing to go over my budget no problem. I did manage to spend a little time with an adorable wheaten terrier. As much as I loved that puppy, I did not want to make a rash decision and buy him on the spot. I wanted to bring my two kids to come meet him as well, but couldn't do it until the following day. The associate then tried to guilt me into buying him right then and there, saying he may not be there the following day and that the kids are going to love him anyway so there is no point in waiting another day. I told her I wanted to give it some thought before I made a decision but she continued with the sales pitch. Honestly, I was prepared to get a new dog but her entire persona had me so turned off that the last thing I wanted to do was to give them any of my money. I will say, the place seemed to have a very large selection of dogs and if I could, I would dognap them all to save them from their glass cages. But I truly felt that the woman was more interested in making the sale, than finding these puppies a good home. I get it's a business, and they're there to make money, but we are dealing with living beings that are hoping for a forever home. After my experience there, I won't set foot in another pet store or breeder shop and look to the local shelters for my next family member. The owner of the shop really needs to train his employees to be better listeners, less judgmental and condescending. So disappointed this didn't go as well as I had hoped. read more

Stay away! The manager needs a refresher course on customer service. You have a place of business to sell to your customer and not the other way around. My husband went in to buy a cat. The cat was suppose to be ready on Friday but then was told the cat had an infection in the penis because the cat was dirty. Okkkk. Then was told To pick another cat that wouldn't be ready for another 2-3 weeks which we declined because of the what happened to the first cat and we wanted that cat because it really liked my husband. I guess now I know it was probably asking for help! Then she said ok fine we will refund you the deposit, 10 days later nothing. I showed up to the store and she blamed it on the owner(again another blame) to which he replied I don't know if I refunded and that he will do it ASAP. And get this she sold that same cat to someone else. Call the next day to check on status and manager said once again I don't know, talk to the owner. So I ask where is owner, she said I don't know, he comes in whenever he wants, he's the boss and hung up.At this point I'm laughing, like these people are joke to think they are going to last. What a shame now I have to go through a long list of professionals to address this fraudulent of a company and a bad review. You guys are really disorganized. I went in with my family and told one of the working staff my story and said we were looking for a new family member and wanted to play with one of the dogs. All of the dogs had poop all over them and the place smelled disgusting. The first thing she asked was if we were serious.... any dog lover knows that loosing a dog is tough let alone two and that anyone who has went through something like that is serious about dog ownership. The worker than proceeded to ask if we could afford the dog and we told them price wasn't an option. She then told us again how much the dog cost and that we should make sure we can afford the dog. We bought our French bulldog from NY Breeder back in September. I first had concerns when the girl gave us 3 different prices. The first price we thought was high but doable. Then she came back with another price saying that the was with tax. Then after we had held the dog for 45 Minutes and already agreed to buy him she came back with a 3rd price "saying she messed up on the taxes" but at this point we were already in love with him and didn't want to leave him. The girl showed us 2 French bull dogs one was very hyper and the other was shy and timid. I live in an apartment so I thought the shy one would be a perfect fit because he seemed calmer then the other one. Well after bringing him home we realized why he was so calm. The morning after we got him he kept coughing and couldn't hold food down. He was extremely lethargic, didn't want to play, we hand fed him because he was too tired to get up on his own. I scheduled the next available vet appointment at my private vet. We got him on a Saturday and I scheduled the appointment for that Tuesday because they had no other openings. The vet told me that she had to take x-rays of the poor thing because his lungs sounded horrible.... my poor puppy had Phenomena!!!!! His one lung was completely blocked! So my boyfriend emailed Gary telling him our concerns and if the store would cover the vet appointments. Gary proceeded to email back giving us excuses and calling my boyfriend a LIAR .... super unprofessional and childish... my boyfriend then emailed Gary back telling him we had x-rays and vet records to prove it and he then childishly responded "Well French bulldogs get colds alot." So my boyfriend nicely replys well we just got him and the vet told us he has been sick for some time now to be this bad and we paid alot for him so can you help us. To which Gary replys I paid 20k for my dog and blah blah blah... Then since we knew we werent getting anywhere with Gary we decided to just contact the store. I spoke with manager Anne Marie who agreed that we should get refunded. So after 3 vet visits and 5 weeks of medication and countless nights of sitting under the humidifier to help him stop coughing and cleaning up throw up my little guy finally starts to get a little better. I sent all my vet bills to NY Breeder for reimbursement. Anne Marie emails me after I submit every thing saying that I'll only be reimbursed for the medication and x-rays and not for the vet visit cost..... I asked why and she said because we treat that as a copay... which is a bunch of crap... this place penny pinches where every they can and they DO NOT care about their customers. So then after over a month of frustration I thought to myself well we will get refunded some at least and be done with this but NOPE ... I called the store several times a week to see where they were at with my refund which was about 500$. Anne Marie would come up with excuse after excuse after excuse.... I called the store over a dozen times trying to get my money .. finally after 6 weeks of dealing with this crap.. my boyfriend steps in and calls the store .. again excuses... so he then threatens to sue the store if our money isn't returned by the time they closed and what do you know instant refund... YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO THREATEN A STORE TO GET BACK WHAT THEY OWE YOU. THIS WAS THE MOST TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL TIMES. I was told to take puppy to their "suggested" Vet within 4 days. I decided To take puppy to a private Vet the next day instead. Apparently, puppy has issues... and vaccines missing. I spoke with store manager who is extremely rude and didn't care about the puppy. Kept repeating I should've gone to their "suggested " Vet and that I would've paid $85. It just sounds way to fishing. I should not be told where to take my puppy. These poor dogs are caged in and never see the sunlight. My 10 month puppy doesn't even know how to walk, falls constantly. I visited this place in March 2020 in hopes of finding a reasonably priced puppy for my 7 year old son during the Covid-19 quarantine. I was originally interested in purchasing a Maltese puppy, but when I was told that they run at $4,500, I asked to see a puppy in a lower price range and was shown a 3 month old Shih Poo. The owner of the store offered to sell it to me for $2,800 (which was still too expensive in my opinion), stating that everyone wants a puppy right now and that business is so good he can't keep the dogs in the store. I very much wanted my son to have the dog so I agreed. The store clerk then proceeded to pull out about $500 worth of dog products (most unnecessary) as a puppy "starter" kit. The staff was aware that this was my first experience purchasing a dog and they definitely took advantage of my lack of knowledge of what I would need. All in all, I walked out spending about $3,500 after taxes. One of the "perks" of purchasing a dog at NY Breeder is that they offer the first vet visit free, provided you go to the vet that they refer you to within 10 days of purchase, which I did. I waited 4 hours (making an appointment is not possible there) and when my dog finally did see the vet, I was told the dog had ear mites. I was shocked as I did not understand why NY Breeder did not check for this prior to selling me the dog. The vet informed me ear mites is a fairly common condition for dogs who are in an enclosed space with other dogs. I purchased the medication to kill the mites and gave it to my dog. The following day, I noticed my dog coughing frequently, so I rushed her to the animal hospital. I was informed that she possibly had kennel cough, which could lead to pneumonia and can be deadly for dogs. The dog was prescribed an anti-biotic. Furthermore, the vet informed me that the dog apparently had ear mites for so long, it resulted in her having an ear infection, that the vet that NY Breeder referred me to, did not see the previous day. That required an additional ear cytology test and medication I had to purchase. Now I'm at over $300 in vet costs within 2 weeks of purchasing the dog. I called NY Breeder to inform them of the medical issues the dog was having and they advised me to send over the vet bill, which I did. It took almost a month and many phone calls and emails sent on my end, most with no response, for me to finally get an email from the owner, Gary. He promptly informed me that he would not be reimbursing me for the vet costs, as the medications could have been purchased over the counter. I felt completely taken aback by his response, as he exhibited not one ounce of consideration or understanding. He's selling three and four thousand dollar puppies who are sick and doesn't have the decency to reimburse at least half of the vet bill. The indecency of it is appalling, especially considering that people are struggling financially and emotionally right now. Please be cautious if you find yourself at this store. They are only concerned with making money. Go to a reputable breeder that has consistently good reviews. read more

We just bought our dog Sam from NY Breeder and the experience was very positive. We knew we wanted a dog for a while and finally decided to visit NY Breeder as they were highly recommended. Seeing the many dogs, it was love at first site when we saw our Shiba Inu, the little bundle of energy and joy. We were greeted by Linda who was more than willing to answer all our questions and was obviously very knowledgable about all the dogs. Linda clearly wanted us to find the right dog but also she cared enough to want the dog to find the right home - the right family. It was clear that Linda had great love for the dogs and in a way, was very protective of them. We spent about 45 minutes with our Sam and decided to go home and give it some thought even though we knew he was the one. We could barely stop thinking about Sam and the very next day, bright and early, the whole gang including my wife and kids went to buy him for our family. Again, Linda was there and was very welcoming and answered all our questions - and we had a lot of questions. We finally agreed on a price and decided to make the move and welcome Sam into our family. It was then that the next important phase began - the training. We were introduced to Gina who was also very friendly and helpful and took us step-by-step as to what to do. The training proved to be extremely helpful and beneficial. We learned A LOT and almost everything they said we would face, actually happened. We came home with Sam much better prepared than we would have if we bought a dog on-line and had him delivered to us. That simply wouldn't have worked. For first time dog owners, we needed the training and we got the full package from Gina. Gina was patient, knowledgable and a sweetheart! Thanks Linda and Gina for making our experience a very positive one and also highly informative. We have called NY Breeder and spoke to Linda several times since we brought Sam home and she was very helpful and more than willing to take the time and guide us and advise on any of the questions or issues we had. So around eight months ago I purchased my puppy here he's a beautiful great Dane . I have to say that I'm so happy with Pongo. He is still in his puppy months growing so fast but yet he still struggling with behavior but I'm very happy that I get to call New York breeders anytime when I need advice or help on how to train him that's a service they provide which I love. So for many years I always wanted a great Dane did not know exactly what color I wanted until I decided that I wanted a Harlequin. They are a very hard color on the great dane to find however it wasn't hard for NY breeders they've made me leave a deposit and they looked for my Pongo, I believe throughout the United States (LOL). Well I can stay here and talk nothing but beauties about this place. But what's most important is that anybody can have for sure that it's a great place to shop for puppies so if you guys want to have a beautiful family with the perfect dog you know where to go. read more

While visiting, decided to stop in. The terrible, overwhelming smell met your nose far before reaching front doors. A Scottish terrier being groomed was, at the least, being verbally assaulted, while groomer tore at it's fur. Bothersome for many reasons, one being that all staff, including owner, didn't flinch or bat an eye in concern for the dog, all this in view for all customers to see and hear. As for the puppies well-being, seemed healthy enough, but many cages showed the signs of puppies with diarrhea. A few, including one boxer was definitely under weight. Most water bottles were empty in all cages. Wouldn't recommend this store. read more

My friend and I came in today and were completely ignored by the receptionist when we walked in. we said hello and she did not even answer? I guess whatever was on her phone was more important. I was interested in seeing the cats to potentially purchase as I had been looking for Persian cats specifically. After standing there for 10 minutes being ignored by ALL the staff, we were ready to leave. However, I was interested in one of the cats in particular so I asked if I could see it. They informed me that I could not see it unless I was going to leave with it today. This was ridiculous because I was genuinely interested in the cat and I would not purchase an animal without seeing it's temperament as I have a cat at home. I understand that the cats might be stressed if they are handled too often, but I was genuinely interested in a particular animal. Needless to say, I will be going elsewhere to purchase a new cat. We were also told the cat prices start at $4000 for all the breeds which seems ridiculous to me as some of the cats seemed to not be purebred. read more

My boyfriend and I initially came in to look at the pups because we had been considering taking in a new furry friend. Although we were torn on the type of dog we wanted, we were open to visiting local pet stores until we found one that was just right. One Sunday morning, we found out about NY Breeders on Yelp. We called and asked them if they had a wide range of breeds and the woman exclaimed, "we have tons"! We quickly jumped in the car and drove to the pet store. We had no clue what we would be walking in to, but quickly learned that NY Breeders was full of smiling faces and happy pups. All of the staff was attentive and knowledgable about all of the dogs. Furthermore, they showed so much affection for each of the pups! every dog looked happy, healthy, and clean! The shop was loaded with great products and fun let toys. We asked TONS of questions which were answered extensively, and ultimately played with many cute puppies. Later that morning, we quickly fell in love with a mini Golden Doodle who we now call SNOOPY! The staff was so overjoyed that he found a home and made us promise that we would be back to visit! I was looking for specific puppy and decided to come here. The two ladies at the desk were somewhat nice. I had to stare at them for what felt like 5 mintues before they would answer my questions. I asked if I could see a puppy in one of the glass cases. I was told they dont let them out unless you know for sure you are going to buy it. They are too young to be taken out of the cages.. This didn't make any sense to me. If they are too young to be handled by people then why are you selling them. I left almost as fast as the couple that came in before. We purchased a pup several weeks ago that we completely adore, but are still sickened daily at the cause we inadvertently supported by going to NY Breeder. First of all everyone should know that they will lie through their teeth at this place to make a sale. We dealt mostly with Robin, who in hindsight told us nothing but lies. She promised us that our pup was from a small family breeder who just bred dachshunds for a hobby, one or two litters per year. She said this family was ranked 5 stars out of 5 by the breeder ratings board and that NY Breeders had worked with them for many years because they were such a good family. We were sickened the day after purchasing our puppy when we began researching this "small family breeder" and discovered they were in fact a PUPPY MILL that churns out hundreds of puppies per year and has at times been reported to have in excess of 800 dogs on their premises. We would NEVER have purchased our puppy or supported such a disgusting operation had we known. The puppy mill discovery was the tip of the iceberg for us. Upon visiting the vet 2 days after purchasing our puppy, we were made aware of the following ailments our puppy had, due to unsanitary store conditions: Our puppy was sold to us with an eye infection. We stupidly believed Robin when she told us it wasn't an eye infection but just some goop in his eye because he had been sleeping. However, a visit to the vet 2 days later confirmed our suspicions and as a result our puppy required 7 days of treatment. The visit to the vet also led to the discovery that our puppy had giardia and another intestinal parasite, commonly linked to being kept in unsanitary conditions, be that either in the puppy mill they sourced him from or their disgusting store. Robin also lied to us that our pup was fully vaccinated and ready to hit the streets. Our vet told us that this was in fact untrue. The vaccines had not been administered with the correct spacing between shots and we had to begin from scratch. Thankfully we checked this with the vet before letting our pup walk on the streets. I cannot express my disgust with NY Breeders enough. We couldn't bring ourselves to return our puppy after we discovered where he was from because we had already fallen in love with the little guy and also didn't want to return him to the awful NY Breeder staff/store. We feel so stupid that we didn't research NY Breeders beforehand and that we let them dupe us into buying our puppy that day. Please please please do not buy a puppy from this store. If you do shop here you are supporting awful puppy mills. There are so many legitimate sources for getting a healthy and happy puppy instead of going to this puppy mill distributor. We made this mistake and hugely regret it, so now the best we can do is spread the word on this place and encourage others PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE. One last thing, the staff there requested multiple times that we come on Yelp and write them a positive review because they have been getting "all of these fake negative reviews". Ummm, these negative reviews are real, I only wish I had taken the time to read them before we visited this awful store. read more

I went to ny breeder over a month ago in search of a teacup puppy. I asked to see a specific puppy, which Linda told me was a teacup yorkie. We played with the dog & continuously asked if this dog was a teacup, in response we got a yes. As we were purchasing the dog, she made a mistake & said its not a teacup yorkie, it is a teacup silk terrier. We still wanted the dog. 3 days in, the dog got sick. As i see in many reviews, most of ny breeders dogs get sick. We were charged a teacup price & currently own a normal sized silk terrier. Calling ny breeders upset, they did not care at all. We were overcharged for a silk terrier. I went to other dog stores to price the same exact dog, in which they were over $1,000 cheaper at other stores. Again, ny breeder staff & owner did not care one bit when we called & emailed. I will never suggest this place to anybody. & when i went to pick up the dog, right before i left to take the dog home, Linda gave me a card to write a yelp review & said to me "please write us a review we have too many people writing bad ones about us." We got a dog a while ago at NY Breeders. While we did get a dog there, we did not feel that the conditions at the facility were up to par. The odor there was overwhelming (maybe the term stench would be more appropriate.) I do have to compliment the line staff - they really did seem to care but the manager at the place (Linda) was absolutely rude to us and was pulling all of the emotional purchase tricks you could imagine. She was not helpful and was literally pushing us to purchase the dog on the spot. The line staff were awesome- answering questions and giving ideas that showed their knowledge and empathy for the animals they tended to. Well, we fell in love with one and took it home but the conditions in my opinion could be far better. I hope they clean up their act and speak to the manager about her terrible demeanor. These two factors prevent me from recommending them and I suggest others go elsewhere to make such an important purchase of a lifelong friend. read more

Got my dog here. Personally worked with Gary on getting my dog. Purchased a male piebald french bulldog. Extremely rare and a year later is completely healthy and happy pup. Would DEFINITELY work with Gary again to get another dog when the time is right. Was a pleasure. Offered lifetime training and was actually the truth in what they do! DEFINITELY recommend. read more

I am so pleased with the Staff in this store! Linda was wonderful, my little guy was sick and not fit for immediate release. They were very transparent and helpful in making sure I knew what was going on and how he was being cared for to get better. When Bentley (my pug puppy) was approved by the Vet as fit, Linda started "Training 101" with me and helped me to understand how my puppy would transition into my home. They got me set up with all of the essential items and told me that their door is open for more training as I need it. This store sets a standard for Puppy care, products and services! DON'T EVER BUY A PUPPY FROM HERE!!!! I purchased my puppy from their CT store. My puppy was terribly sick with 105 fever 3 days after bringing him home and almost died. After contacting ct breeders and sending them all the medical information from the hospital and my vet, in addition to a letter from my vet clearly stating he had a bacterial infection, they refused to take any responsibility. They were rude, argumentative, and insisted the puppy was healthy when I brought him home. They insinuated the puppy must have gotten sick once home suggesting he ate something poisonous from outside when he's had never even been outside as I was paper training him. They had absolutely no regard or compassion for what my family was going through and did not once even ask about the well being of the puppy. So in addition to having to pay a ridiculously absurd amount for my puppy, I also had to incur the cost of the hospital bill. Please, find another place to buy a puppy!! read more

At first we walked in just looking around not having in mind to get any dog since we had a certain budget. We started to look around and AUTOMATICALLY fell in love with this small pup. When we asked for the price he was way out of our league we decided to just ask to see him and Gina allowed us to see him a private room, that was our "wish we could afford him".. We walked out but 30 minutes passed by and we came straight back for him. After leaving Ny Breeder nothing was the same all I could think about was this pup and YES we got him. Gina, Gary and another young lady were very helpful, nice and gave us the right information on him and it makes me happy to now know this little pup is in a home full of love. Gina did tell us to give him time and to have patience since he was a baby he was not going to adopt fast, but LIES (of course not on her part) more on the dog's part. He was the happiest he could be, he adapted in the second day and it's amazing how fast he is potty trained now and it's only our 4th day with him. He feels the BIG love we have for him!! OVERALL I know adoption is always better but it doesn't always work out for everyone so if you have a store in mind I recommend this place. Trust me that day we went to other stores and Ny Breeder was the last store and I don't regret going there AT ALL! read more
