Loved everything about this place! It's so beautiful inside, unexpectedly large, and best of all, the food was VERY good. Met the owner and he was so kind - I hope he does very well. There were lots of Spanish speaking tables, which made it feel authentic and as if I were invited into the owner's (stunning) home for dinner. The one thing that'll stay with me is how many of the dishes had such interesting twists but not in a "try hard" or "it turned out weird kind of way." They nailed it. My husband wanted Peruvian food for his birthday so I found two options. He liked the menu at Nuyores more so I made a reservation for 4 people for a random Tuesday. We were seated in the back at a very comfortable booth. We all trickled in and they had no problem sitting us with just 1 person checking in. We split: - Ceviche Classico - Tuna Tiradito - Octopus Completo - Crispy Yuca Huancaina Cacio e Pepe - Pork Belly - Caramelized Carrots Nothing was bad, but I think the stand outs were the Caramelized Carrots and the Pork Belly. The carrots were tender and sitting on top of this gorgeous fava bean hummus. They were so well flavored. The Pork Belly came with this Carapulcra peanut sauce that we drizzled all over two bowls of garlicky rice that we had on the side. I would most likely not order the huancaina again. We've had really great potatoes huancaina before - both in restaurants and homemade and this just didn't really work for us. The Octopus was really tender and flavorful, but I didn't much care for the bun it came in. I think a different bread would've worked better. All in all, a good dinner. Let's start with the good. Service was impeccable: everyone was exceedingly polite, professional, and attentive. The décor conveyed a blend of casual elegance -- something more refined than a routine sit-down, but not so stuffy as a white tablecloth venue. One wouldn't feel out-of-place in either a suit and tie or jeans and a sweater. Also, the menu descriptions for both food and drink sounded innovative. Unfortunately, the actual execution (particularly, at the price point) left something to be desired. For example, I'm a fiend for most anything cacio e pepe, and the yuca dish ($27) read like a novelty on paper. The technical execution was solid: crispy, savory, and generously portioned. However, these starchy root vegetables didn't wow, and I'd rather have had Maialino's (RIP) luxurious, velvety cacio e pepe pasta for the same cost. Similarly, the pork belly with peanut sauce and tomatillo salsa ($25) seemed like a deliciously hearty protein dish. I was surprised at the single slab presented to us... of which ~80% appeared to be fat. I will admit that we didn't ask for a more thorough description before ordering, but I gave up on trying to finish my portion because it felt so heavy. Of the three items we tried, we made the most of the panka braised lamb ($36), but the flavors left such a faint impression that I can't in good conscience recommend it. I didn't even bother snapping a pic of the side of garlicky rice ($11), which we ordered at the recommendation of our server. We didn't even finish it, musing to ourselves with no small amount of wryness that we probably left like $5 worth of grains. As far as the food goes, I'd say Nuyores was just fine. However, there are far too many exceptional restaurants in the neighborhood that are truly outstanding that'll run you the same pretty penny. read more

When I was 22 and didn't have two cents to rub together (we used to have this thing called pennies, kids), my bff and I decided to backpack through Peru to celebrate surviving undergrad. This was so long ago, digital point-and-shoot cameras were considered advanced technology. Instagram didn't exist, and Facebook was only used by cool college students. Yeah, ancient times. I haven't been back since, so sadly, I missed the country's big glow-up. But no it seems the only type of Peruvian food that's served outside the country is the upscale, swanky, "elevated", (and overpriced) variety. At least, that's all you seem to get in NYC. So I was prepared to dislike Nuyores, the same way I've disliked most of the other upscale, swanky, overpriced Peruvian spots in the city. And I did at first. $25 for a Pisco Sour?! Go f*ck a potato! But the food was better than expected. Skip the Causa Tater Tot (bland) and the Adobo Lamb Ribs (too small a portion). Do get the Crispy Yuca Huancaina Cacio y Pepe (interesting), and definitely, DEFINITELY get the Sushi Grade Tuna Anticuchera--easily one of the most delicious and unique dishes I've had at any Peruvian spot. For dessert, give the decided UN-burnt Lúcuma Basque Cheesecake a try. And if you simply MUST spend $25 on a libation, the Double Corny is almost worth the price. Almost. What convinced me not to incinerate Nuyores with my trademark snark was the fact that we were surrounded on all sides by Peruvian diners. There was so much Spanish spoken, I thought I'd forgotten to do my Duolingo. And these diners were clearly enjoying their meals. Chef Oscar Lorenzzis even made the rounds from time to time. Always a nice surprise to get a dash of authenticity in this increasingly soulless city. Would I come back? Maybe when I get promoted. Went with some coworkers and had a few different plates as it's family style/sharing. Solid seafood options. Our group shared the Ceviche Classic, Tuna Tiradito, Causa Tator Tot, Caramelized Carrots, Uni Yaki Soba Noodles, Grass Fed Argentinean Striploin, and the Adobo Lamb Ribs. The Soba Noodles, Causa Tator Tot, and Tuna Tiradito in particular were my favorite - very savory across the board and would come back again. Food was overall delicious; dish reviews: Blue fin tiradito - can probably skip on this one, felt like it was missing some flavor Quinotta- was rich and cream and there was so much truffle on it Lobster crispy rice - huge pieces of lobster, could have used a bit more flavor, but rice was very crispy and yum! Lamb rib - very fatty, but that's where the flavor is! probably my personal fav dish, and the side salad and grilled pineapple was yum. Matcha chocolate mousse - so thick and creamy! Very modern and cool restaurant, definitely a good spot for a date night. The service was great, the servers were friendly and attentive and the food came out a good pace. The food presentation was beautiful, my only complaint is I wanted most of the dishes to have more flavor. As a party of two, we ordered 3 sides (two would have been enough) and 5 dishes. We started with the ceviche classico which had a nice mix of textures, but only one flavor, acid, or two flavors if you got a bite of raw onion. Obviously ceviche is supposed to be acidic, but the acid flavor overwhelmed the other ingredients. Next we had the causa tater tot. They were out of crab so they did it with lobster instead. This dish was tasty and had a few distinct flavors, the yellow sauce on top (yolk acevichado jam?) tasted like hollandaise. I would order this dish again. The lobster crispy rice tasted similar to paella (minus the saffron) and in my opinion was just okay. The duck (seco de pato) was cooked nicely, my issue was that the only two flavors of the dish were the duck and beans. I wanted the duck to be more seasoned or to have a sauce with a stronger flavor to bring the dish together. The lamb ribs was the best dish of the night. If you go here, get it. Wonderful seasoning on the lamb itself and it paired perfectly with the pickled pineapple and sauce. I didn't love the celeriac slaw, but the lamb was just so so good. For sides, we got the fried yuca, crispy potatoes and purple corn focaccia. The potatoes were perfectly crispy without being oily and delicious when dipped in the aji verde sauce. The yuca was lackluster (served as small diced pieces rather than as fries, and a little dry) and the purple corn focaccia was tasty, but needed a sauce or something to go with it. We left feeling quite full and the staff thanked us on the way out, including the chef who took time to speak with us which was really nice. Small side note, we came for a birthday and the hostess wished us a happy birthday when we arrived, but they did not do anything for it during the meal (no dessert etc). Nuyores is the perfect blend between Peruvian flavors and New York City energy! I came here with some friends and we had an amazing time. The interiors are just stunning with a very intimate elegant vibe. Every single dish was spectacular with bold, vibrant and creative takes. The menu is designed for sharing and wine list is outstanding with refined South American wine. We did the pairing and it was perfection. They also offer well crafted cocktails such as The Pisco and Carajillo. Don't miss, Cacio e Pepe Yuca, Yaki Soba Vongole, Tuna Anticuchera, Crispy Pork Belly and Lobster Rice, all of them slamming! The chef comes by the table to greet and make sure everyone is being well taking care of. I only have one downside, it's kind of pricey but totally worth it. read more

Wow! Chef Oscar and his team are cooking up some of the most exciting food in NYC. Everything we tried was phenomenal. I started with a perfectly made pisco sour. Then we had ceviche, and if you know ceviche, you know that no one does it bette. We also were blown away by the cacio e pepe yucca, which was basically like a Peruvian poutine. So rich and comforting. For our mains, we had the lobster crispy rice, which is much more like a fried rice with pieces of lobster on top, pork belly and duck. The duck was my favorite. The balance between the crispy skin and tender flesh was just chef's kiss. We also tried the alfajores and chocolate flan desserts and both were excellent. The dishes are small so it does add up, but totally worth it for this quality of food. Accessibility: there is a small outdoor patio at street level. There are several steps going down into the restaurant. They have a portable ramp to get inside with a wheelchair, which I did not use. I didn't go inside, so can't comment on the bathroom. So I wasn't sure to rate this restaurant a 4 or 3.5. In reference to the ambiance, service and drinks wow amazing especially in their service ! Our waiter was welcoming and suggested his favorite dishes. Well, this is where I wasn't as impressed but i am also Peruvian so I might be a little more hard on my review. They had claimed to be Peruvian and felt like it wasn't as Peruvian as I thought besides their ceviche and delicious pisco sour. We ordered the ceviche and it was so delicious so definitely recommend to order. Their tuna tiradoto was also pretty good. For entree we ordered the CREAMY QUINOA ",LOBSTER CRISPY RICE, PORK BELLY, and CRISPY YUCA. I'm not gonna say the food was bad because it was pretty good but it wasn't as amazing as it could've been. Besides some of their Peruvian sauces that were inspired in their dishes it didn't meet Peruvian cuisine in my opinion. I do know many restaurants give it a twist to the Peruvian dishes and that's totally ok. I actually do love that but Nuyores lacked a little. I hope the menu changes up a little as it's a new restaurant, I'll give it another try eventually. I would love them to bring some Peruvian dessert as well. They did have alfajor but that was stye only Peruvian dessert in the menu. We had ordered the olive oil cake to try though. Now the ambiance and decor very beautiful. Feels a little speakeasy's too. It's is a small restaurant but very inviting. Overall I would still recommend to try this new restaurant. I would still recommend mission ceviche for a Peruvian cuisine in the city. read more

The ambiance is great and well decorated. Menu didn't have a lot of protein options and was heavy on starches. Only beef dish was $130, which seemed unreasonable considering we wanted to try other small dishes. They need to add something else to match the other menu items. Drinks were good but very expensive.
