Got a flat today from a nail and just pulled in to get it fixed. Took 10 mins and $20. Filled all my tires. Can't complain

My car needed major work. I got the quote and it took me from November to July before I came up with the credit to get it fixed. He quoted me $1,136, but when I went to pay, he said, "we are giving you a big break today, it's only $975." According to some other Yelp reviews, they occasionally do this. They can tell who is poor, and they know I was working in a big grocery store across the street. I recommend Nutley Street for all your car needs. read more

I have taken my cars here for years for basic service because they were quick and reasonably priced for the area. I thought they were honest. I can't say they aren't cometely but I have huge problem with my latest work. I took my 06 Wrangler in to get the parking brakes checked since they had locked up. They replaced all 4 pads and rotors and the emergency brakes plus did an inspection. When I picked it up, the brakes were squeaking and there was a clunk in the left rear. I took it back and they pointed out a rusted section of frame. It was so badly rusted out that the mount for the suspension was completely detached and dangerous. I saw this after driving it home when they said it was safe to do so. I ended up spending about $2200 to have the frame repaired by a friend. A shop wanted $5600. I think it was unethical to go ahead with the $900 brake work knowing that major work needed to be done on the car. The frame rot was clearly visible from the wheel area where they were working on the brakes. Plus they passed it in the safety inspection. I have to believe that the frame is part of that inspection. I won't be back and this rating will remain a 1 star unless they can figure out a way to make this right. read more

Nice service guys Place/Store - Okay, it looks a little shabby from the outside, and you may be anxious about bringing your car to this location... But I kid you not, the servivce people here are friendly. Service - The servicemen here are friendly and quick if you tell them that you have somewhere to go (of course, within a reasonable time). They were always able to do my car inspection and oil change without any hitch. Price - I believe it is reasonable. My dad-in-law even goes here for service. So that shows that we believe in what they do. read more

If you go to safeway. This place saves you a tonn on gas but i also feel like the quality of gas isnt up to standards. A tank of gas here lasts me on average 3 to 4 days less than using shell. I stopped going here because of that. THE CHARGE--given here-- was almost half the price of what was QUOTED for us for the identical repair at a VA Auto & Tire place :- .[Actual charge of 63 dollars for the headlight fix VS. the quote of 120 dollars for the identical repair at the auto & tire place.] Therefore, one must be careful where to do the inspection--in case it could involve certain necessary repair(s) afterwards Please observe that this Vienna car place received 53% of five stars versus 35% of negative stars --where as it was almost an equal one third meaning 20% less favorite reviews than the Vienna Place --(approx . 33% each) for auto & tire for either most positive VS. most negative reviews. And most of all, one must be realistic and not out of line :- it IS only fair to be charged another twenty dollars,--- if and when one has to do the inspection again!!! In partial response to Mr. Ryan of Burke, VA about being charged the second time for the re-inspection fee. Whenever, one changes the location--that is NOT affiliated to the former place at all, one must pay. In exactly if one's contractor fails to finish the job, a new and unaffiliated to the former contractor comes along to HELP to finish the incomplete job, of course, one needs to pay the second contractor as well. Fair is fair. * --- It would be rather odd and UNFAIR for the second place NOT to charge anything while repeat the inspection. *[Even Judge Judy reiterated that one could not just go to eat the steak and decided NOT to pay for it, because one didn't like the food. In short, if you eat it, you must pay for it--whether one wants to OR NOT.] After all it IS a different task/place/or time to redo the inspection ======================================================= This IS what happened to my husband yesterday, Saturday June the 6th, 2020:- Yesterday morning about quarter to 8 am, the character husband took my car--a 2015 Fiat that we bought from Carmax in July 2018-- to the Centreville VA auto & tire for the required inspection. After a two-hour wait from 7.55 am to 10 am, it was finally my car's turn to be inspected. Later, a fellow WITHOUT any mask --approached my husband to inform him that the car passed everything with the exception for the hi-lo beam headlight--and that they could fix it for a mere 120 dollars in order to pass the inspection. After a long wait plus the desire to get away from this guy without any protective mask, my husband declined his offer and went to pick up the car. Only then --- did he realize that our car now had a REJECTION sticker on it for him to drive home. Needless to say, I was livid to see the "rejection" sticker right on my baby Fiat!!! I reminded my stubborn husband that I, indeed, did ask him to postpone doing this year's inspection till I could first get in touch with our favorite auto place in Vienna, VA--a gas station at the corner of Lee Highway (route 29) and Nutley Street--that they also maintain a repair shop for quite a few decades with several awards of being among the best.** **[About ten or eleven years ago when we still had a Subaru Impreza 2002, they were the only one that could exactly locate where the leak was--after even the Subaru dealership in Dover, DE could not pinpoint the exact location of this leak --- they could only inform us via the computerized analysis-- that there was a leak. Later, only this car place at this Nutley St. & Rte. 29 located the leak within five minutes after I told Khun Sam about it.] I telephoned and talked to Mr. Pop, ---[ we used to have Mr. Jo***, a great mechanic--- along with Khun Sam, the former receptionist/ manager of the place. ] I told Mr. Pop what happened to our Fiat and asked him to help fix the headlight so that my car could pass the inspection. REPEAT : The repair part --a total of which and actual bill, minus the inspection fee, came to 63 dollars--18 for the headlight and 45 for the labor--just about HALF of the very quote of 120 dollars from the VA Auto & Tire. No, indeed, we had NEVER informed this Vienna car shop of the first repair quote from Auto & Tire. For I was too upset with the "rejection" sticker and completely too livid to think of anything else--let alone any crummy quote! And my husband-- a rather absent-minded & forgetful person, just forgot about it. Most of all and if needed be, we could afford the quote of 120 dollars at the Virginia Tire & Auto of Centreville, --- but my husband just wanted to get away from the fellow, who came to talk to him without any mask! [ *** Mr. Joe, used to be our mechanic, but the Toyota Dealership, in the Fairfax County, came to convince him to depart this auto place to go and work at the dealership instead.] We hope that this real event can help to justify where one should do the inspection. I used Nutley Street Exxon for over 10 years before moving to Chicago.This is a sentimental place. Yes, the place could use some renovations, but it's an older "mom and pop"/family-owned station. Not unlike the kind you'll see outside cities. Nutley Street doesn't have a Keurig or a LCD screen with CNBC playing. You go here to get your car inspected or fixed. I am writing a review now because I didn't write one when I lived in Virginia. I'd get my gas from this station regularly. The guys are pretty friendly. (They're Thai like me.) For repairs, they've been up front with me. Perhaps the lack of fancy amenities results in fair pricing. So, yeah. A no-frills, down-to-earth place to get your car fixed. read more

Charged for an entire new inspection when the one item that caused the original rejection, a cracked windshield, took longer than 15 days to repair (out of my hands)--20 days, to be precise. Legal, but arguably less than customer friendly. Cannot say I would recommend this place. read more

Totally unhelpful and unprofessional. Had my brakes replaced and shortly after noticed grinding sounds and smoke. Took it back there and after they spent about 2 minutes driving they said there was no issue. They wouldn't even look at the brakes beyond just shining a flashlight on them. I took my car in for an oil change, and the guy offered to do a "free inspection" ... After my free inspection he said that my air conditioner was was broken in my 2012 (it worked fine up until the point I pulled in to the station) and it would be $1,200 to fix it. He also said my transmission fluids were dirty and I needed a service (even though I just had my 30,000 mile tuneup done a couple weeks before). When I asked the manager what he was going to do about breaking my a/c he said "that's not my problem." Go here at your own risk. read more

Either dishonest or don't know what they're doing. I took my car here right after moving from California and they failed my car on the safety test. They offered to fix the "problems" then and there, for several hundred dollars, but I asked for a written quote instead and took my car to the dealership to inquire about the repairs. The dealership said my car was fine, and suggested I take my car to a different place for inspection. I did, it passed with no problems. I can't help but assume they were just trying to make a $buck$ by manufacturing a problem and hoping I wouldn't leave and get a second opinion. read more

We are fairly new customers...but don't let the way the place looks run you off. We have found amazing service - first two visits they didn't even charge us for correction of situations for which two other stations had charged over $300 - and had not fixed. They also found the cause of one problem we had that 3 other outfits could not find. Some repairs are going to be expensive, but it's better that having to buy a new car. My wife and I have been taking our cars here for our 17 years of marriage after a recommendation from her college roommate. We now live 35 minutes away and would not even think of taking our vehicles anywhere else. They are honest and never ever sell you on anything your car does not need. Their prices are at times 50% less than what you would pay elsewhere. We just had them check out our brakes and do a transmission fluid change. The quote came in and when we went to pay, it was less than the quote. This happens a lot. I once had a Honda dealership tell me I needed 6 new spark plug wires to a tune of $1200. I brought my Accord here and they told me I needed one for $125. Everyone in the shop always has a smile on their face. Did I mention we came in on a Saturday morning and I was laughing at how incredibly busy they were, but they turned our repair around the same day and picked it up before close. I can't say enough great things about this place! Pop and all his guys run an incredibly trustworthy auto repair shop and I recommend them to everyone I see. read more

I have been bring my cars here for years (20 years plus). In fact, I have referred this shop to my office mates and they all agreed, these guys are honest and gets the work done. The place may not be as fancy as the dealer's shop with wide LDC/HD screen, free soda, free car wash, but their labor hours are as competitive as other mom and pop shops. You gotta remember at the end of the day, they have families and significant others to support. So what are you waiting for? Go get your car fixed! read more

I don't know why Cindy A. and Glen B. had the experiences they did and I'm sorry they did but I've been taking my vehicles to Nutley Street Exxon for many years. My one fear is that the place may ever change hands. I have had only the best experience with these guys. For me the service has always been quick and effective. I've never had the need to return a repair except once and that was because I did something wrong (I ran an old car with too low oil and basically trashed the engine.) The place isn't the slickest, shiny looking shop you'll find but it actually looks like a service station where people work on cars. You can pay for shiny but I think it's better to pay for results. The waiting area, though small, is certainly clean. In a nutshell, here's my experience: Repairs are done in a very timely manner (most times the same day, even for bigger jobs.) The repairs are done well and effectively. They stay repaired. There are never any unnecessary repairs. People are friendly in a professional way. I've never felt taken advantage of with these folks (Disclamer: I am a cranky cheapskate and fairly/very hard to please.) I believe one of the best qualities of the place is that the rates are always reasonable and never exorbitant. BTW, 30 minutes for safety inspection doesn't seem out of line to me and I am not a patient man. I've never done an online recommendation but for a genuinely positive experience I recommend this shop. read more

Nutley Street Service Center is a great option for me to get the synthetic oil & oil filter changed on my 2012 Prius V. It is very convenient since I work within walking distance - I can just leave my car & return in a couple of hours. They have always been able to do oil changes for me without making a prior appointment, etc. Plus, the price, while not cheap, is reasonable for this kind of oil change. Much better than, say, what you find at Jiffy Lube. I haven't used NSSC yet for any more detailed repairs on my car but would have no problem trying them for such when the need arises. They have excellent reviews on two other consumer-ratings websites. read more

Beware!! I took my 2004 Tahoe in for inspection. The inspector said that the back passenger side brake and rotor was bad and needed both back brakes replaced. I got a pink rejection sticker on the windshield. I took it to another inspection station and had a different inspector take a look and he passed it. So, beware they are out to get your $$$$$. read more

Yes the place certainly lacks charm on the surface, but the service is very friendly. Are their prices the best around? Don't know, don't care- there is something to be said for having competent people whom you trust completely working on your vehicle, and getting repairs completed quickly. Needed someone to check a vibration noise - friendly service and diagnosed catalytic converter has minor issue but advised to wait and watch as there's no warning light on dash. Had oil/filter change and VA inspection very quickly reasonable priced. I would go there again. read more
