This is the best nail salon I have ever been to. Ann and her team are delightful to visit! I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed or had a bad mani or pedi. My best friend and myself have been coming here for a while to get our nails done. I think that those that are complaining and writing bad reviews have unrealistic expectations. The staff is always nice to us, and so is the owner. Tiny is a very good manicurist and so is Kim, Anne, and the rest of the staff. It is a clean shop, hygienic, and professional. In spite of my high maintenanceness, I have to admit I neglected my feet for a long, long time. My feet aren't gnarly so I was fine with them au natural until last summer when at the tender age of 30 I decided to get my nails done for a summer wedding in NY. My toes looked great and I was hooked. Now I feel like I look like a homeless person if I don't have a decent pedicure goin on. I was doing my toes myself since I hadn't bothered to look for a local salon. Then one day in May my friend made me come along with her to get a pedicure at Pro Nails in lower Queen Anne. I decided to get one too, picked out a fun navy color, and we only waited about 5 mins without appointments. While this isn't exactly a warm, cozy, relaxing spa, it is a clean, well - lit space. As I mention in my review of the other Pro Nails location, I want a good pedicure more than I want pampering. Quicker and cheaper is fine with me!! I've been here a couple times since and my pedicures hold up without a chip for a good 3 or more weeks (maybe with one topcoat touchup). The technicians are friendly but since they don't speak much English they spend most of their time talking to each other. Fine with me, I don't really like to chit chat and I can watch TV or read a magazine while they do their thing. A little foot massage and some lotion on the legs is included in the service. Wide selection of nail colors to choose from, mostly OPI. They do acrylics here too. I think waxing services are offered. If not, the location up the hill definitely does. I've never made an appointment but it would probably be a good idea after 5pm or on the weekend. This place seems pretty popular. Closed Tuesdays. $20 Pedicure, $25 French Pedicure, maybe $15 for a manicure. Credit cards accepted. Free parking garage (an amazing thing to have in Queen Anne), but also on several bus lines (13, 15/18). Across the street from Cafe Laddro, near Bartell, Easy Street, and Metropolitan Market, should you need to run some errands. read more

Though they take walk-ins, I had to wait 30 min before getting a basic mani done. I think what makes this place a challenge is that they take reservations. After reading all the great reviews about Number One Pro Nails here on Yelp, I thought it was about high time I gave it a try. Since most people suggested that you make an appointment because it can be crowded - I called ahead. A dude picked up the phone and after I said, "Hi, I'd like to make an appointment for 4 PM please," mumbled some words I couldn't understand and hung up after an awkward pause. Confused, I called back again and he asked me to come at 4:30 PM instead. Cool - you could have told me that before hanging up on me, but OK. I live on Cap Hill - so the fact that they have garage parking receives the first big two thumbs up from me. I walked in and was surprised at how big, open, clean and bright the space is - another thumbs up. The color selection was OK. They definitely could have more nude/light pink choices (there were only a couple of options in that color palette) but they certainly had a lot of reds to choose from. Now to the important stuff - the mani/pedi I received was great. They paid a lot of attention to detail on the shape of my nails, they didn't cut my cuticles too far down, and I love that they used a razor on my feet. The massages they gave were wonderful, and they didn't skimp on how long they were either - most places will give you a 2 min massage - this felt like 5! I am very happy with the results - only 2 days in but they still look fabulous. Best of all, it only cost $30 for the mani/pedi. Nice! I would certainly recommend this place to anyone. My French pedis from here always last so much longer than most other places, and I'm tough on my feet. Anne is so friendly, and her staff are very attentive. I took my bridesmaids here, and we had a great time. If you want a mani or pedi, make an appointment. When I'm in a pinch and need a my underarms waxed, they can usually take a walk-in. I can't believe all the rave reviews for this place. Really? I get manis and pedis on a regular basis, probably 3-4 times a month. I went to the salon because of the great reviews, but ew...ew...ew...I would never go back. The salon was dirty. The girl doing my nails didn't even use a towel under my hand (isn't that standard?). That is really unsanitary with nail clippings falling everywhere and she didn't even pick them up after. The girl doing my pedicure didn't crack a smile and rushed through it in about 10 minutes. The worst part is that the smell in the salon was horrible - a combination of bleach, nail polish, and acrylic nail stench. This is the first nail salon where I left and felt just sick to my stomach. I had to thoroughly wash my hands and feet right when I got home. The only plus is the owner seemed really sweet and nice. Sanitation concerns, cheap, would never go back. read more

Long story short, not only will they not honor your reservation, they will pull a bait and switch on you. I went there for a mani, pedi, and acrylic full set. The guy said we were good for our reservation, so we decided to stay. Then during our pedi, they said they couldn't do my acrylic full set afterwards. When I asked what changed and that they should honor my reservation, they just started to talk to eachother in their native tongue, obviously bad mouthing me like a Seinfeld episode. The people doing my pedi felt bad and they were great, but the owner definitely didnt care about awful customer service and about losing one customer. Needless to say I got out of there as soon as I could and will never go back. Being that I was only in town for a short amount of time, i eas on a time crunch. Luckily there was another nail shop right around the corner called Viana's Nails & Spa, and they were amazing! read more

If you make an appointment here in advance, and they make you wait 20 - 30 minutes anyway (which happens regularly), whatever you do, don't let the manager Ann know that you're unhappy about it. Even if you do this as politely as possible, she'll tell you she doesn't like uncomfortable conversations and won't take your appointment. It was a decent enough salon, and 2 blocks from my home, but sitting around waiting for them repeatedly gets old, and they don't want to hear about it even if you try to keep it friendly. I've gone to this Lower Queen Anne salon a couple times for mani/pedis and I've always been pleased with the results. This isn't a chi-chi "spa experience." It's a no-frills kinda place in appearance, but the technicians are friendly, careful, and skilled. They've got a decent-but-not-fantastic selection of OPI colors (lots of sparkly varieties for some reason), and a bunch of trashy magazines to keep you occupied. Best of all: It's only $30 for a mani/pedi. You'll probably need to book ahead for Fridays and weekends, but otherwise you can probably just show up (but not on Tuesdays, when they're closed). read more

I had the worst experience here this past weekend. The manicure and pedicure themselves weren't the worst but the experience was HORRID. My friend and I went for manicures and pedicures. They completed my manicure and nearly finished the pedicure when the nail technician, without saying a word, got up, went into the back room and then went outside to a car that had just pulled up. The car then drove off. I was stunned and then realized that the woman had left me, mid pedi. After minutes I flagged someone down and told them my woman had left. They said "oh, uh, someone will finish" but I had to wait 10 minutes because they were all with someone else. One person finally came over to finish my pedicure but she seemed angry that she had to leave her person to finish me. I'm never returning. read more

I do not recommend receiving services from this nail salon. I thought it was good and charged a fair price, but the technicians use cheese graters to exfoliate feet. If this is not illegal, it is definitely an unhealthy practice. I asked the pedicurist to use a pumice instead, but she continued with the grater, and used a pumice in a later step. Reflecting, I should have insisted that she not use a grater at all. Immediately after disregarding my request, the technician actually hurt her finger with the grater. This is neither a safe practice for the client nor the technician. In addition, the tub was not covered with a plastic liner and the manicurist did not use latex gloves. read more

Came here to get a pedicure done today and had good service. They understood that I was ticklish and backed off of my feet. The staff is very friendly and the salon is very well ventilated. A pedicure is $20.00 so it is a little more than Diamond Nails which is kitty corner away. They don't add the the bacterial powder but they are also very aware of the temperature of the water and are constantly asking if the water is too hot. I have gotten an eyebrow ($8.00) and a lip ($5.00) wax here and it is also standard. They aren't too good at understanding trimming of eyebrows and my eyebrows started growing back within a day. At least they treated me gently and no skin was ripped off and I was never burned. Again if in need of a quickie fix on waxing... this is the place to go. read more
