This is a locally owned place and I really prefer those types of places - they try harder and usually taste better. Experience 1: Our first experience was with a Groupon. Their waiter/waitress didn't show up to work. We put in our order and they mixed up what we had asked for. The owner/manager knew of the mix up and comped our meal. We decided to give this place another try... Experience 2: Our second try... service was better (not great), but the food was average. The menu is also small and there's not much to pick from. Main dish was not very satisfying and decided to give desert a try... all I can say is don't try the cheesecake. Others should also know that they charge for salsa... hmmm. I would rather pay extra for my main dish then be nickle & dimed. The positive... it's really quaint restaurant in downtown Camas and great place for a date. The slowest restaurant ever... even with only four other tables, prepare to wait 15 minutes for a beer or 20 for a marg. The salsa is the most gringo crap you've ever had...and they're very stingy with their "hot sauce" as they only give it to you in little tiny dishes. Other than being mild, this food is actually quite good. Vegan tacos on the menu, which is always a plus. Chile relleno was quite exceptional, actually. Beautiful decor, nice music, lovely town. Hidden gem in Camas! Not your typical Mexican fare....this is best ever! We are relatively new to area, less than 2 years, and were there with friends who have lived in Portland/Vancouver area 15 years. We all agreed this is best Mexican restaurant in area. Our waiter Jose Armado(?) was especially fun, attentive and his suggested items were all delicious. I am going to sound like a huge snob here... but great food is hard to come by north of the river. But Camas has some fun cute places. My husband and I came here back in February for dinner before going to a movie across the street. The ambiance, decorations, etc. are GREAT. we loved the dim lighting, the colorful decorations, and the small imprints in the hardwoods. The food was also good. Food here is greasy, tasty and comes in huge portions. I came here for a Friday lunch and promptly slipped into a food coma after stuffing myself with chips, guac and vegetable mesadilla. Full points for the chips n guac! You'd think it can't possibly have much variety in taste, but it does! There's the ordinary stuff you get elsewhere (read: Chipotle), and then there's the AMAZING stuff here at Nuestra Mesa! The chips are thick, salty and dripping in oil (yum!), and the guacamole is chunky, fresh and with lots of cilantro. I was satiated even before my actual lunch arrived. The mesadilla had a nice balance of cheese and vegetables in it. Cute decor, fast friendly service. I'm deducting two stars because the salsa was not that good and tasted somewhat burnt (for a Mexican restaurant, that's unacceptable!) and because of the lack of options for vegetarians (there's just 1 mesadilla, 1 taco and chips. Come on, you can do better than that, this is the Portland area). Most likely the best Mexican food I've ever had. From the chips and salsa, which taste freshly homemade to my main dish which was the veggie burrito, everything tasted amazing and left me satisfied. The veggie burrito was huge too so had plenty left over for the next day. All the staff here are super nice and welcoming, and were very knowledgeable. I'm vegan, so sometimes finding options especially at Mexican restaurants can be difficult but they were very helpful and even made sure with the chefs. I was hearing rave reviews about this place from coworkers, so decided to check it out for myself. It's definitely one of the better Mexican spots in Clark County! Food is delicious and perfectly portioned, though a little on the pricey side. The space is small - a long, narrow room that can seat maybe 30. But there is sidewalk seating when the weather is nice, and rumor has it Twilight Pizza next door is closing down and these guys are going to knock down the wall and take over that space. Fingers crossed. We started with the chips and salsa and a side of guacamole. The chips were fresh but quite greasy. Fortunately, the house salsa was wonderful - nice and thick, chock full of freshly diced onion and cilantro, with a pleasant but not overpowering punch. The guacamole was equally good. For our entree, we ordered a pair of tacos each. The tinga was the highlight of the bunch - pork shoulder with a touch of citrus and cinnamon, smoky chipotle sauce and crumbled cotija cheese. Topped with shredded cabbage, radishes and a squeeze of lemon, it was divine. Very similar to the carnitas taco, with just a few extra touches. The shrimp taco was succulent - each bite of shrimp plump, juicy and cooked to perfection. Ironically, the least interesting taco was also the most expensive. I just wasn't a fan of the carne asada. The meat was tender but lacking in flavor. I would definitely stick with the pork or seafood options. One minor complaint: no salt shakers on the tables. Come to think of it, the cadillac margarita did not have a salted rim, either. Hmm. Why the aversion to salt, Nuestra Mesa? Despite this, the margarita was very good...and packs a punch. In the best way possible, of course. UPDATE: Nuestra Mesa did, indeed, knock down the wall and is now twice as large as before, having taken over the old Twilight Pizza space. Been backs a Few times and everything is 'okay' not wonderful like it used to be. I stick to the simple burrito, quesadilla or tacos. Mesa is a place I visit frequently and happily so. Went for my birthday and had a a different experience. Half of my order was forgotten about and the carne asada meat in my taco was terrible (extremely over cooked)They were understaffed so we didn't see our waitress until the end- not her fault- she was running like mad to keep everyone happy. I'm easy going so I didn't mind but the guy who brought the food left so fast we didn't get to ask if the other tacos were coming. This is my favorite restaurant in town. I'm really surprised at some of the bad reviews (I'm not questioning that they had bad experiences). But my wife and I have eaten here times in the last 3 months and we love it. The food has been awesome. The service has been great. The bar has a great vibe and they make interesting, and delicious concoctions. I need to branch out on the menu...I've gotten the pork shank 3 out of 4 times because it is so awesome, and I bring the bones home to my dog. By far the best Mexican food in town. All food is very fresh. Nothing is pre-processed. My personal favorites are the Chile Relleno and the Cadillac Margaritas. My wife loves the Chicken Chowder with roasted green chiles and the Pomegranate Margaritas. When I say fresh, I mean every single ingredient on the plate is unique and homemade. The kitchen is clean and open to all patrons. The service is very friendly and all of them remember you when you come back. He said two boys asked him what he was doing and he told them that we've been sitting outside and no one is serving us. Unfortunately, I work in the Vancouver/Camas area. I live in Portland (thankfully), but my lunch options are very limited. I went here for lunch with some coworkers a few days ago, and it was great! It's about a fiftteen minute drive from the office, but totally worth it. Chips + guac = AMAZING. The guac is so good. It's 2am and I'm wide awake buzzing with the energy and excitement of an eight year old trying to will themselves to sleep the night before Christmas over the fact that I'm having dinner here tomorrow. When my daughter called me last night to make dinner plans I nearly tripped over myself suggesting Nuestra Mesa. My daughter chuckled before agreeing with my suggestion and mentioning that she and her partner literally just got back from eating there thirty minutes prior. It's so fantastic that two nights a week is the norm for them as they live close by. I don't and it's going to be a haul getting over there tomorrow, especially from downtown after work on a weeknight, but it's worth every minute that I'll sit in traffic. Their margaritas set the bar...so so tasty! Their food is amazing (clearly, I mean I am up at 2am thinking about it). Few can match their gold star standard. It's like having the talent of Alicia Keys in a sea of Britney Spears mediocrity. Get the nachos! I promise you won't be disappointed (and if you are we shouldn't have been friends anyways). You'll come back. You'll want to try other things on the menu, but you just won't be able to bring yourself to do it. The downside, however, is that you'll compare every other nacho to theirs and be ridiculously underwhelmed because their nacho game will have changed you. read more

We are so grateful for finding this place last minute hidden away in Camas but worth the extra drive for those in Vancouver or even on a day trip for Portland peeps. We were desperate for an affordable Spanish place that had fresh delicious food and didn't cost a fortune. The chips and salsa are not complimentary but completely worth it. We started with the queso which was gone in an instant after our kids and my partner and I started to dig in. AMAZING and so fresh. Their green salsa was my favorite and if you like really spicy salsa ask them for their hot one. So good! We paired the Norton Torrentes with fresh ala cart tacos (I had Al Pastor and Pescado) and the tastiest carne asada taco salad we've tried on this side of the bridge. Nuestra Mesa is a good place to go when your looking for some trendy Mexican food. On nights when they have music the atmosphere is nice but at times can be a bit noisy due to the overall size of the place, but the owners are usually on site and the servers all usually nice and do a good job. The blackberry margaritas are yummy, maybe a bit pricey but very yummy. I would most certainly return to this small kinda louder place, filled with good authentic cooking and nice friendly people. read more

We have wanted to eat here since we got here yesterday and when we came tonight with it being 91° outside, it was just too hot for me to sit inside so we left. We were sitting a half a block away and the owner's wife came after us and offered to put the table out side if we would be more comfortable and so we did that. We ended up having a most wonderful meal of tacos and guacamole especially the Tinga. We highly recommend this wonderful Mexican restaurant if you are visiting in Camas or if you live here. Lovely quaint downtown Camas Mexican restaurant with great food and fantastic margaritas. They do live music here in there and especially on first Fridays. Beautiful location in downtown Camas with the overhanging trees. It is really very beautiful. Very creative menu... Not just your basic Mexican food options, although they do have that as well if that's what you're looking for. Interesting flavors and overall menu. Gave them a shot and purchased their Groupon $12 for $25 worth of food. The waitress was appropriately friendly and prompt and one of the owners introduced herself and was friendly. The place is small, but looks authentic. Ordered the Chips and Salsa and a couple of the Chimichangas. Chips and Salsa were rancid, the salsa was some black peppery tasting baby poop looking mix that wasn't very good. Chimichangas came out and looked wonderful, just didn't taste it. Overall price with Groupon was OK for 2 adults and 2 small kids, but was otherwise overpriced. $14.00 for a Chimi is pretty steep, especially when you tack on another 3.00 for beans and rice on the side and 3.25 for a Mexican Coke. The Minty flavored rice wasn't for me and wasn't a big fan of what was in the Chimi's. I don't know if it was too much of the cabbage or stringy red onion, or what. I love trying new things, but this place just wasn't for me. I wish them the best of luck with their business! read more

I usually get a Chile Relleno when I eat at any Mexican restaurant, but they had a great taco selection and I had 3 different kinds and really liked that option. I expect a lot of flavors and spice and felt it was neutral, it was the freshness I loved. Taco salad was excellent, I know because I had to steal off my husbands plate. Service was polite and courteous but slow especially for a Mexican food restaurant. Took 45 minutes to get our food after ordering.
