But, when I ordered a Macho Burrito from their menu, with chicken, it was a huge disappointment. The portion was huge, so no complaints about the amount. But it was a flavorless dish. The chicken (from a can?), wasn't grilled or seasoned. There was very little guacamole or sour cream, etc., and the flavor was so bland, I had to add salt, and even then, it didn't taste all the great at all! Wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant near us cuz we have yet to find one we really like. Decided on Los Pepe's tonight, as we've heard from friends and co-workers that said they had good food and drinks. We waited at the front for a few mins before someone came by to greet us and seated us in the restaurant. They also have a small bar to the right side of the restaurant and offer happy hour from 3-6. We stopped in on a Tuesday hoping they'd have Taco Tuesday deals, but they did not. I ended up ordering 3 asada street tacos with rice and beans and my husband ordered a fajita burrito and a chicken quesadilla. I also ordered a margarita flight. Our waiter brought us chips and salad while we waited for our food. We waited a bit for our food but everything was delicious. The food was so flavorful that my husband said he didn't need to add salsa because how great everything tasted. He did use the salsa anyways because he wanted some spiciness to his food. The waiter checked on us a couple times throughout our meal. Once we were finished, we waited quite a long time to get our bill. There was only 2 other patients in the restaurant so we weren't sure why it was taking so long because the bar as pretty much empty. One of the female workers ended up bringing us a to-go box while we sat and waited for our bill. We waved down our waiter and he said he would bring our bill. We waited so long that I had enough time to walk over to a jewelry store in the mall to grab more jewelry for my piercings and by the time I got back, my husband was still waiting for the check! Food was great but service definitely could use some work. Will most likely be back to check out their happy hour menu, and hopefully the service will be much better. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by Los Pepe's! I went in with very low expectations- the drinks were good, food was good, and service was good! We went for dinner on a Friday night, the restaurant was fairly busy. The drinks were very good, the guacamole was tasty, and the fajitas were the star! Celebrated a belated Mother's Day at Los Pepes in Vancouver Mall. Overall a delicious dinner! So why 4 stars instead of 5? Because I'm super picky when it comes to Mexican food. I travel to Mexico twice a year. For Southwest Washington, Los Pepes is very good. The drink was yummy! Wish I remember what it's called. Perhaps show the waitress, and she'll tell you. LOVED the chips and salsa. Reminds me of the salsa i make. Except no chopping for me. The fajitas were delicious. Same with the loaded nachos. Preferred the flan, over the fried ice cream. Will definitely go back. I'll try the Chile Colorado the next time. The Mexican restaurant we usually go to, has a combination that includes Chile Colorado, Chile Verde, and Chile relleno. There's another Mexican restaurant we go to, and I looooove their fajitas the best! It's also in Vancouver, WA. If you're in Vancouver Mall and love Mexican food, definitely try this place. There's a Mexican restaurant near our house, but I don't like their food. Not authentic. So we make the trek beyond 15 minutes from our house, to have more authentic Mexican food. If you don't see Mexican staff, or Mexican people dining at the restaurant, go somewhere else. That applies to any ethnic food actually. Go where their people work and eat. We stopped here during a field trip, and it was great! The perfect trifecta, good food, good service, and good value! We had the Pepe's Grande, chunky guacamole, and street tacos. All of them were wonderful. The tacos were loaded with tasty meat, and the chunky guacamole was quite the surprise. Imagine guacamole that isn't mashed, but shall slices of avocado with diced onions, tomatoes, and cilantro with a hint of lemon, and it was served with fresh tortilla chips. I usually have some time to kill on Wednesday nights after work, as I have to pick up one of my step-kids from an extra-curricular activity before heading home. I have been using the time to explore different business and restaurants that either I haven't been to in awhile, or are new to me entirely. Los Pepe's is among the latter; despite my semi-regular visits to Vancouver Mall, I've never actually been inside, until this week. I intended to just grab a quick drink while passing away the time, and ended up ordering two: a couple of Old Fashioned's, nothing too fancy. A little on the small size, but relatively inexpensive, at least compared to what I am used to in Portland. The complimentary chips and salsa, which I hadn't anticipated being served to me in the bar, was a welcome addition. I didn't order any entrées, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food, at this time. However, in observing the quality of the servers and service here, I spotted a few competent, tasty-looking dishes that I wouldn't mind sampling in the future. Los Pepe's seems to serve the same quality of Mexican food you might find at similarly priced establishments such as Los Jalapenos, Lindo Mexico, or any of the Margarita Factories: Mexican cuisine (outside of Mexico, anyway) tends to be as resilient to failure as it is to variety. Grabbing a couple drinks and getting a buzz while shopping at the mall, of all places, feels a bit odd, but not in a bad way. And as my Wednesday nights will likely continue to be open for the foreseeable future, I expect to be back, and hopefully hungrier next time! read more

Well, I was super excited about trying this place out. And I won't be back. True to previous reviews, the service was very subpar. The waitresses hung around the bar, didn't refill our waters, and our food came to our table after sitting, waiting for 40 minutes. The nachos, which i was super exited to try, came very dry and barely any meat. Hire more profressional staff or some that are dedicated to making sure the customer service is on point! I think I'm going to stop going to Los Pepes. The ambiance and servers are always nice, but I just don't like the food anymore. My sister and I ordered flautas today, which usually is just meat and tortilla. Sometimes deep fried, or served cooked with a sauce. Los Pepes flautas were not flautas. They were more like a Quesadilla or chimichanga. It was a ton of cheese (that's not listed on the menu and I'm lactose intolerant) and an Itty bitty amount of dry meat wrapped in a huge amount of tortilla. I used to go for the Al pastor tacos, which they took off the menu a while ago. I also ordered the sopapillas, which I've ordered from here before and were served fluffy and airy. Solid Mexican food with good drinks. It's a casual restaurant with a dedicated full bar section. I usually get Pepe's fajitas and have more than enough for leftovers. You get to choose your type of tortilla and the plate comes sizzling hot. Service is prompt/friendly and we are always checked on and often. There was nothing in the burrito but this chicken. No sauce. No veggies or cheese. Just dry chicken with cream sauce on top. For $16 it was not a great choice. The restaurant is right inside the front of the mall, and when I got there I decided to grab a drink and a little bit of food before going shopping since I had skipped breakfast. I was seated right away. Only one other couple in the restaurant around 1pm on a Friday, one person at the bar. The place is gorgeous, art is unique and fresh. My waitress came over within a couple of minutes and took my order. I ordered the jalapeño margarita and the street tacos (technically an appetizer, but I knew it would be plenty of food). They came out SO FAST. I had one or two minutes to relax and eat chips & salsa before they arrived. I made sure to try the tacos first, they were really nicely sized, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the filling chopped nicely. But, they were toootally bland. Like, really, really, in dire need of a lime wedge and/or a lot more seasoning/salsa/cilantro/anything!! I should have just poured the salsa that came with the chips. The jalapeño margarita was very good! Could have done with a lot more spice and definitely more alcohol for the size of the drink, but the rim was super tasty. Not sure in all worth $12 for the drink though...given my tacos were the same price... All in all nice, quiet, quick service, meh pricing, meh tasting. I'd give 3.5 stars but I rounded up because the bathrooms were also gorgeous and well maintained. read more

Los Pepes was a great Mexican restaurant offering; conveniently located in the Vancouver Mall. Their pricing is a little strong for what you get in my opinion. We had the Carne Asada fries and chicken rolled taquitos. The fries were nothing special and weren't very crispy. Still tasted very good though. The rolled chicken tacos were nice and crisp. They only included 4 which is not a lot compared to the competition like Margarita Factory. I initially started going to Los Pepe's before it was at the current location in the mall. Since moving to the mall I feel they have improved, not just in decor, but in food quality. I appreciate that they have jalapeno margaritas, good beers on tap, and the food is really good. During COVID, they do take out alcohol (Awesome) and you still get amazing food for a good price. Now that they are slowly opening back up I hope to dine in when it is safe to do so. My recommendations are the chile relleno burrito, the fajita nachos, and their cheese enchiladas :) read more

Food - When you dine out the food should make everyone at the table talk about how much they loved what they order. Instead at our table people were saying the food isn't bad, but not that great either. I probably wouldn't come back here. Taco shell tasted & looked like it came ready made out of a box. The chips & salsa were good. Service- The service wasn't bad, except hostess & server seemed like prisoners doing their time & hoped to be paroled soon. They did what was expected, but didn't seem to care if we were there or not. Ambiance- They had these beautiful colorful what looked like handcrafted tables & the backs of the booths. The colorful booth backs & tables were ruined by the seats of the booths & chairs looking beyond horrible & worn out. The bright painted walls had areas that needed to be repainted. Just taking the small amount of time it takes to do touch up painting could make a big difference. This restaurant has so much potential to be a great place to dine, but someone from the top down stopped caring & it shows in the Food, Service & Ambiance.
