I've been seeing Nue all over social media for a while, so I was excited to finally try it. The Chengdu Chicken and Waffles had a great presentation and also ended up being a really satisfying meal. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and had a nice crispy coating, although I would've liked a little more spice. The waffles were good but they definitely took a backseat compared to the chicken. The restaurant itself has a really fun atmosphere with unique decor, and the service was warm and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.
On our recent visit to Seattle we made it a point to try all new restaurants. No repeats from previous visits and Nue was at the top of our list for its international flair. I booked a reservation weeks out and we got our party of nine right in for brunch on a Sunday. We just loved the vibe of this place from the moment we arrived. The decor. The ultra friendly staff who greeted us and sat us at our table. And I always love an open kitchen in the dining room. This was the last meal with family before we headed back home to Hawaii later that evening. So the goal was to order as many dishes as possible and share share share. We ordered the Tower of Chengdu Wings, Japanese Zosui, Burmese Laphet Thoke salad, Caribbean Pineapple Cornbread, World Butter Board and Beirut Hummus. Talk about a dance party on your palate. Every dish was so flavorful, thoughtfully prepared and so damn tasty. Broke da mout to be exact. The wings were amazing and packing heat with Thai chilies all over. I avoided the chilies and devoured the chicken. Yum. I loved the Burmese tea salad, cornbread and hummus. The World Butter Board is a must if you're in the mood. They have a great selection of cocktails and beers too. The Kat Chai was refreshing and delicious...and the Rupee Beer Basmati Rice Lager was something I never had before. That was really nice as well with the meal. After we finished our meal we couldn't help but notice all of the different collectibles displayed in the wall. This character with big red hair caught my wife's attention. She was excited to find out they actually made shirts with the character on it...so we also left with some Nue swag. All in all a great Sunday morning for bunch here at this spot. Awesome food, excellent service and a paid lot right next door for convenience. I'm so glad we made it here and can't wait to come back on a future visit. Mahalo to the Nue team for an incredible experience.
Nue is a unique eatery known for spotlighting global street food tapas. Reservations are highly recommended for both brunch and dinner. For parking, they have street parking directly in front and across from the restaurant. Inside, they have some rustic and quirky decor with a decent amount of seating. For their menu, they have a very unique selection of different globally inspired dishes to choose from. Wifey and I ended up getting the Caribbean Pineapple Cornbread, Japanese Zosui, and the Chengdu Chicken & Waffles. Everything that we had tasted delicious and had some unique flavor profiles. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Stop by here for your next meal and you will most likely get to try something you have not tried before!
A word to the faint at heart--their bunny chow curry is a that chicken! I'm glad I read this description because this was the best dish at the place. Outstanding food! The ambience could be a lot better because the place is a hole in the wall with tables almost touching each other. But the flavors, umami in each dish and effort they put into ensuring each menu item is uniquely represented is noteworthy. Their service people were warm, but could use some practice with the international words on the menu. Would any of the negatives outweigh my desire to come back and have some more of that delish bunny chow? Heck no!
Wow. The Yelp reviews and intriguing menu drew us in, and this place did not disappoint!! For lunch we ordered the Pineapple Coconut Cornbread ($9), which was lovely, followed by the South African Sunny Bunny Chow with Rice, which was simply amazing. (FYI--it's chicken, not bunny.) The spices were on-point, and the serving size allowed for leftovers, which were equally as good warmed up later. The place itself is eclectic and interesting. I'd love to return to sample other dishes on the menu.
I really liked: Chengdu Wings This was ok: Dutch War Chips South African Bunny Chow Caribbean Pineapple Cornbread Nue is a cool idea with global-inspired small plates, but overall it was just okay. The Chengdu wings were extremely crispy and well flavored. Don't let the peppers scare you. They're not hot at all and the best thing here. The Dutch War Chips were basically crispy fries with a ton of mayo and onions. Great if you're into mayo, not so great if you're not. The South African Bunny Chow was more interesting sounding than it ended up being. It's a mild curry served in a bread bowl. The Caribbean Pineapple Cornbread was just okay; very dry, and the coconut didn't really add much. Service was on the slower side, and we had to remind them about drinks and entrees. We sat outside, where the lighting was poor even after they turned on the lights, and the small tables made it feel a bit cramped. Overall, the experience was fine but not quite worth going out of your way for.
Came with friends last Friday to check out Nue I had heard about them but my friend had them on their list to check them off her list. Don't remember there being a large outdoor sign, easy to almost walk by if you miss seeing the window sign. Not to large of a space there are tables and counters to sit at. Eclectic world travel vibe decor. The QR code is on an airplane ticket looking card and the bill came out in a travel book. We stuck with water to drink room temperature water in each table. One of my friends got the Bunny Chow in bread bowl, my other friend the wings and I got the Malaysian Dahl: Coconut Mik, Makrut Lime Leaf, Lemongraas, Curry Leaf, Ginger, Lemon, Gamished with Cilantro and Chili oil. The lemongrass and citrus and other fragrant herbs adds a lot of depth and flavor definitely nothing I had tasted was really delicious. the roti was light and flakey. Also tried my friend's dished which were beautifully plated and also packed with flavor. Definitely would return to try more of the menu and cocktails.
If you're looking for a culinary passport without leaving the city, Nue is the place to go! This spot absolutely blew us away with its vibrant international street food menu, relaxed vibe, and top-tier service. We came in on a whim, but everything about the experience felt intentional--from the eclectic decor that gives the space a chill, welcoming feel, to the playlist that perfectly matched the laid-back energy. It's the kind of place where you can sit back, share plates, and really enjoy the moment. Huge shoutout to Theo, our server, who made the whole afternoon even better. Super knowledgeable about the menu, genuinely friendly without being overbearing, and had great recommendations. You can tell he really cares about the guest experience--something that's rare these days. Thanks, Theo! Food-wise? Absolute flavor explosion on the Chengdu Wing Tower. Bold spices, creative presentation, and clearly made with love. The menu is adventurous without being pretentious--perfect for foodies and casual diners alike. Whether you're on a date, catching up with friends, or just want to shake up your dinner routine, Nue is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back!
We went with reservations and tried the brunch here. The place was pretty packed and has a nice vibe to it. We tried the Filipino Tosilog , Japanese Zosui and Tunisian Shakshuka. Each of these were very well thought of dishes and a treat. My fav of these were the tosilog and then the shakshuka. I was also tempted to try the chicken and waffles but ended up taking a rain check on that. The menu also offers a bottomless orange juice and champagne;what can go wrong with that :) Overall a good start to the weekend.
A very intriguing restaurant with the main theme is being a international celebration of cultures. From the food items, names of the food, to the decor, and even the receipts in books. Service was not as quick, but there was a lot of people and it was packed so can't judge them too hard. Off to the food review!! 3.7/5 - Tower of chengdu wings - The fish sauce tries really hard to pull through, but the thai chili and szechuan peppercorn just packs a very spicy punch right to the throat. My partner had some trouble eating it and i needed some water to pull through. In my opinion its a bit too spicy for the average spice enjoyer, but if you love spice these will be great 3.8/5 - Filipino Tapsilog - The garlic rice with the savory meat and runny egg, you can't go wrong. This is a very traditional breakfast, nothing special, but they made it just right. Garlic rice is a must have with this kind of breakfast. Perfect to start off brunch and the vinegar acidity really helps with the oiliness if its too much for a person. 4.2 - Caribbean pineapple cornbread - Didn't think much of this outside i wanted a sweet appetizer or dessert but damn this surprises me. For someone who doesn't like coconut, the flakes are toasted just enough to give a crispiness to the dish. The soft inside with a crunchy outside can't be beat with its sweet cornbread. This was the star of the show and quite a surprise. Overall great experience, however the food came a bit slow, so was the service. I try not to fault them too much due to how many people were there. Still a bit a waiting for us to get an order in.
Came for restaurant week and at $35 for an app, main, and dessert, it was a great deal. I got the taiwanese turkey rice and it was delicious. Insanely peopery but I actually loved that. Despite being mostly turkey and rice, it wasn't dry at all. The turkey reminded me of the disney turkey if made way more moist and with care.
Very cool concept highlighting different foods from various countries. Fun way to casually try out some new dishes. We got the South African bunny chow, Caribbean pineapple cornbread, Danish dream cakes and the Brazilian acaraje. The highlight was definitely the Brazilian acaraje. It was so perfectly crispy and savory. Texturally very well balanced. The bunny chow was good as well. Tasted like a lightly spiced curry. The bread did get a bit mushy though because of the sauce poured on top. Food: 8.5/10 Service: 10/10 Ambience: 9/10
The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly. The decor was cool and so many things to look at!
What a unique restaurant! Nue is definitely an eclectic restaurant that is unmatched in Seattle. The menu is so diverse and stems from the owners experiences around the world. The decor is pretty cool and the servers are really friendly. The restaurant itself is a little tight and if you're still uneasy about social distancing, you might as well get take-out or delivery. We got a bunch of dishes and shared everything. The Beirut style hummus, Balinese bbq spare ribs and Chengdu spicy jumbo chicken wings were delicious. The hummus came with warm pita bread which made a world of a difference. The hummus itself was fantastic and creamy. The bbq spare ribs were probably my favorite dish. It was sweet and tangy and the meat fell right off the bone! The chicken wings had a kick to it. The presentation is a spectacle and I would highly advise ordering it! We also got some other dishes that I thought were average: South African bunny chow, cubano sandwich, and pineapple cornbread. The bunny chow was something I have never tried before. Essentially, it's a curry dish but I thought the curry itself was mediocre. The cubano sandwich looks better than it tastes. The fries were pretty plain though. In all, this restaurant is definitely unique and you might get a kick out of the eclectic menu. It's definitely a place you should check out for the cool dishes! read more
It has been pretty hit or miss for me when I visit this spot. Service was average each time, but on the last visit specifically I had an experience that will steer me from revisiting. It was a busy day and a bit difficult to flag down a server. They probably were understaffed so that's understandable. Each of my three friends had ordered and gotten their food, and after a few minutes of waiting did the server finally realize that she forgot to put in my order. Now having to wait another 20-30 more min for my food, I was very hungry by this point, that I had to snack on small bites of my friends' plates to hold me over. The server was not very apologetic at all, and did not offer anything to lighten the experience. read more
Came for brunch on a Sunday, sat outside in a heated tent. Delicious, creative dishes from various countries. Limited menu but each dish sounded amazing! We tried the Chengdu Chicken & Waffles ($20, Sichuan sweet and savoury wings, so good!), South African Sunny Bunny ($22, indian spiced chicken stew stuffed in a delicious bread block with a perfect sunny side up egg on top), and Israeli Shakshuka ($18, I've had lots of shakshuka and they do it well). The flavors are on POINT! I tried everything and the spices used in each dish are deep and complex. It's not a large place but the interior is so cool looking! Decor from all around the world. Staff is super nice! read more
Our first time at NUE and it did not disappoint. Their menu is a passport to different flavors. I smiled the moment I saw Tocilog on their menu. Of course I had to order it. Their Filipino Tocilog even came with the savory dipping sauce. The slices of tocino were tender and the egg was perfectly fried to a crisp. The Israeli Shakshuka was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. Finally, the Tower of Chengdu Wings had a nice crunch and spice. I can definitely taste the delicious and familiar flavor of fish sauce, lime, and peppercorn. The presentation was impressive. This was all consumed and chased down with a glass of "Less Mosa." Their space is rather cozy and eclectic and the service was excellent. I would absolutely save this restaurant as another brunch/dinner spot to consider when in Capitol Hill. read more
Chengdu Chicken Wings - 5/5 It was mouth tingling spicy if you didn't eat the chopped chilis garnished so for spice lovers, I'd say eat the chilis. It's the flat + wing tips and drums. Dish came with 6 pieces. The seasoning was good, I could taste the five spice. The wings sit a top a small puddle of sauce that is bursting with flavor, it's sweet, umami w/ a hint of citrus that my friends and I really enjoyed. I'd come back for this. Syrian Kale and Carrot Salad 5/5 My unexpected winner for the best tasting dish, the girlies who love fresh tastes are gonna really like this. The flavors were new but worked super well with each other, comes sauced and tossed so no need to get too messy. My friends and I were fighting on who would get to finish this. So good! South African Bunny Chow 4.5/5 Ordered just because of how fun the name was and curry of course. Hidden favorite of the table, hearty and rich with tomato-y curry and tender pieces of meat in a bread box. Balinese Barbequed Spare Ribs 4.5/5 Super tender and flavorful, glad they provided rice which was cooked perfectly as well. This went well with the bread from the Bunny Chow actually. Assorted Butter App 3.5/5 Enjoyed the different taste of each butter but you definitely had to roll it in your mouth a bit to differentiate some. Need to get more bread to finish the butter. Was an interesting app but I'd go for the salad before this Everything was plated beautifully to the eyes and tasted even better. Love the innovation with the different regional dishes. Restaurant is decorated like a maximalist traveling the world so just looking around will give you plenty to talk about before your food gets there. Happy Hour gets you some discounts on certain dishes as well as $2 off cocktails and other drinks, definitely recommend heading there for a great time. read more
Suchaa cute concept of trying different flavors from different parts of the world!! Balinese spare ribs so tender) and the South African bunny chow were my favorites! Chengdu chicken and Burmese salad were also solid. Price point: ended up to be about $26 per person after tax and tip, and I personally was satiated but not stuffed. Dishes do seem to run pricier but makes sense given the variety of dishes they prepare! Overall cool place; service could be better tho because they didn't seem very attentive. read more
Fantastic food-- highly recommend. Every dish we ordered-- be it the Shakshuka, Trinidadian Doubles, or, Dutch Patat Oorlog (the yummy French fries), were outstanding. I relished every single bite; it was a riot of flavors, but balanced together so beautifully well. The decor is very eclectic and if you love artsy stuff, then you could easily spend the entire time admiring the tchotchkes. Wait time was close to 40 minutes but so totally worth it. Would not hesitate to come back again! read more
Really cool variety in the menu and international decor! I only ordered the Dutch mini cake and mulled wine for myself, but both were delicious! My group of 4 joined the waitlist ~10 min before arrival, but had to wait a whole hour before being seated. The wait would be my only con, but I'll definitely try this place again at a different time! Would be a good date night spot. My only comment for improvement would be that the indoor table we were at was uncomfortably close to the next table over. Meaning lots of shifting when people got food and went to the bathroom etc. read more
A really cute restaurant with a wide array of cultural influences. Everything about this restaurant is so creative and unique. The cocktails were pretty yummy and not weak at all! The Chengdu wing tower was a really cool concept and isn't too spicy as long as you don't eat any of the red peppers (which are pretty spicy if you do eat it). They were also very juicy and crispy. The Bunny chow was also very yummy and fragrant. I will say I didn't expect the bread bowl to be the type of bread that is white sliced bread. I think it was a little too absorbent and sweet so I would prefer the typical chewy/crispy bread bowl texture. The fries were amazingly crispy and fresh! I normally prefer thinner fries, but these were so fluffy they definitely exceeded my expectations. The garlic mayonnaise it comes with is also really savory and tasty. It also comes with peanut sauce which I didn't really enjoy and did not eat any of. Our waitress was also very nice and the food came very quickly. A super great place to try! read more

Have been wanting to try the wings here for so long and finally got a chance to when my bf and I came here to have brunch with his family. His sister kept raving about how good the food is when she came with her friends. So, I did order the The Tower of Chengdu Wings, but wanted to try other stuff too, but since his family was treating, didn't want to look like a huge pig. I also got a side of the garlic fried rice to eat with the chicken wings. The chicken wings were delicious. My bf wanted to try the Japanese Katsu Sando, but they were out. So, he got the Portuguese Peri Peri Chicken Sandwich, and he said it was good. I tried a bite, and I agreed. And the fries that it came with were so yummy and crispy. I got to try a bit of the Filipino Tosilog, and that was yummy, too. I really want to come back and try more food. read more

Nue checks all the boxes when it comes to a good brunch spot. Delicious food, innovative cocktails, friendly service, and a vibrant atmosphere. I was really excited to try out this place because of their eclectic menu with dishes inspired from different parts of the world. Came on a Saturday afternoon with our pups and sat on their patio. We ordered the Israeli shakshuka, Filipino tosilog, and the tower of chengdu wings to share. Everything was beyond amazing! I enjoyed the presentation of the wings and flavors were on point. They had a nice kick to them from the Thai chilis. The shakshuka was one of the best I've ever had! And you can't pass up on the tosilog - it was certainly hearty and filling. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking to try something different. Can't wait to come back and try their other selections! read more
Came here with a group of 7 people for brunch on a Saturday. My friend and I got espresso martinis, they were decent. Strong, but not super creamy. The Shakshouka was good, but the red sauce was smoky tasting, which I didn't love. My friends chicken and waffles were really good, but the chicken was very spicy, so be prepared! I liked our waiter, but the manager of the restaurant muttered b**ch under his breath when my friend asked if we could split the check. It was decent overall, but definitely wouldn't come back read more

There's no question that living in Seattle you've got a heavy case of decision paralysis because of all the incredible restaurants to choose from. Nue should be one of the top on your list to visit. We were excited to check out something new as has a very unique menu with flavors from all over the world. Our waitress, Kat made some great recommendations. We knew we couldn't miss the famous Chicken Wings... but also thought that the Shark and Bake was incredible. All dishes were full of flavor an packed a punch. Great cocktail menu too. We really enjoyed the Smoldering Paloma! If you're looking for something delicious and different, look no further than Nue. read more

Daily happy hour ftw!! Don't sleep on this deal! A generous selection of food and drinks are $2 off daily from 3-6pm (as of the posting of this review). The Chengdu spicy jumbo chicken wings are a must. Juicy, tender meat and great kick of heat. They're double dipped, fried with szechuan peppercorn, fish sauce, thai chili, and basil, and then stacked to perfection. How could I say no? If you're looking for additional heat, eat a chili or two off the plate. ;) The smoldering paloma is definitely smoldering for those who like a spicy alcoholic beverage. You can ask for non-smoldering if preferred. Delicious accompaniment to my wings (although perhaps spicy on spicy wasn't my best decision to date lol). -1 star for being forgotten for most of my time there while the couple next to me was checked in on regularly. I came alone and was seated next to the front door, so maybe easily overlooked. Regardless, I do recommend the wings! $28 for wings and drink before tax. read more

I feel very bad for giving this restaurant a poor review but I had a very frustrating experience here. My husband and I decided to dine-in for brunch on Wednesday morning at about 11:30am. We were seated right away but that's about it when it comes to quick (or even appropriate) service. It took our sever over 15 minutes to come take our order. We understand that the restaurant was busy, with 3 other parties dining in...but we felt like we were being passed up every time. Which is funny considering we sat right by the register and the sever passed us every 2 mins. We waited 42 minutes to receive our dishes. I kept count the entire time we waited and it was very frustrating. The food was good but I am not sure it was worth it. The chicken and waffles were delicious. The chicken wings had a nice crunch and the sauce was sticky and yummy. I would have preferred to have more sauce though, and the chicken was a bit dry. My husband had the Filipino breakfast and he felt right at home. The portion was huge and plentiful. However, the sauce that was served with his meal was a bit strange. I think the lack of service had to do with the one server and two cooks. It also seemed like they were giving online orders priority. I can understand wanting to execute the orders in order and clear out their list but when you have 2 people dining in and sitting right in front of the kitchen, I do not think it is ok. I feel like they need a better system. We literally waited 42 minutes for two dishes. Ridiculous. read more

Hi Allyssa, …
I really like the atmosphere, the music, the relaxed vibe, service, and ofcourse the food. I came with my sister around 1130am and we ordered the cornbread, shakshouka, waffle with fries and hummus. Everything was well seasoned and flavored. I loved sitting by the window counter facing the street while we waited. I really like this restaurant and I'm so glad we came here. I don't know how authentic the food is because my experience with different cuisines is minimal but the shakshouka alone was perfection. There was a green spicy topping and it blended so well with the tomato base and runny egg yolk making it more mellow. My waffles and fried chicken were also on another level. It was slightly salty but tangy and there was also red chile peppers for some heat. TL;DR just check this place out and eat here...period read more

We came on a Friday afternoon for lunch and they were able to seat us right away. We ordered the fries, brussel sprouts, and African sunny bunny chow. The fries had multiple flavors with the different sauces that were on it and the purple onions added a bit of crunch to it. The brussel sprouts were cooked very well; they were very crunchy and the balsamic glaze and hummus took this dish to another level. I never knew that brussel sprouts could taste like that! The sunny bunny chow was also amazing! We split it between 2 ppl and asked for a rice instead of the bread bowl so they put the meal into two plates. The 2 plates were still really big so really happy we split it. Overall, really enjoyed all of the dishes that we went with! I've never tasted these type of flavors before and am really amazed at how different cultures make food taste. The waitress was super sweet and friendly. She came by the table multiple times to see if we were doing okay and to fill up on water. Would definitely recommend going to Nue! Their lunch and brunch menus are limited so would def have to come back for dinner to try more of their dishes out! read more

Wow I'm not usually one for Asian fusion but this place does it well! Knocked off a star because it is kind of pricey for what it is. I came here with a friend to try their brunch. We ordered the chengdu chicken and waffles and Filipino tosilog to share. Chengdu chicken and waffles 4.5/5- I'm not a huge chicken wing fan but this was pretty good and juicy!! I loved the spicy kick to it (you may not want to order this if you can't handle spice though) Filipino tosilog 5/5- this was pretty solid and I liked the garlic rice that came w it. My favorite Filipino breakfast place closed down a few years ago so I hadn't had anything like it in a while. This was a nice throwback! The inside is pretty interesting- has a bunch of random stuff on the wall ranging from different alcohol bottles to dolls haha. I definitely want to come back to try their dinner menu!! I've heard only great things! read more

I didn't try the Chengdu chicken wings but I am still happily leaving a 5-star review! We dropped by on a Sunday around 5:30 and luckily were able to get a table for 3 inside. The indoor seating is super fun because of all the decorations to look at. One of the walls has a bunch of shelves crowded with trinkets and various bottles of alcohol. The shelves continue to the back wall, where you could almost miss the bar if you do not look carefully. We tried the limau asam boi ($6) which was a blend of calamansi, lemon and lime juice, and honey, decorated with a preserved plum. The drink was refreshingly tangy. The entrees here are not cheap (around $20-30), but we enjoyed all of them. We tried the Balinese sate lilet ($16), Trinidadian curried channa and aloo ($20), and the South African bunny chow ($20). We ended up sharing everything family-style because we wanted to try it all! The portion sizes were good especially since the bunny chow came in a thick bread bowl. My favorite dish was the curried channa and aloo (it's vegan too!). The curry was full of flavor. The chickpeas and potatoes were soft but not mushy. I'd argue that the best part was the roti, which was super flaky and chewy. The bunny chow was super flavorful, too. The bread it came with was rich and buttery. My least favorite (this sounds misleading, because I still enjoyed it a lot) was the sate lilet. The fish was tender and sweet-- not in an "added sugar" way but in a natural way. I LOVED the sambal it came with, which was super flavorful and packed a spicy kick. The rice tasted good but was plain. If I had this dish by itself I would feel like it was missing something, but I got to enjoy the rice with the other dishes we got so everything worked out deliciously. At the end of the meal, the check came in a book! I loved the design concept of this restaurant and the food was great, too. Will have to come back for the wings next time. read more
*Open for dine-in and takeout June 2021* Overall impression: street food from all over the world, mostly South East Asia. Some interesting flavor combos. A bit on the pricey side for the food and ambience - we sat in the outdoor patio on the side walk. Memorable dishes: *Tower of Chengdu Wings ($18 for 5 wings) - The chicken wings are well-fried. The sauce is a combination of sugar, fish sauce, lime, Thai chili, Sichuan peppercorn and basil. I liked it so much I tried to replicate it at home (and it was a success if you are wondering) *Eggplant Curry- I honestly can't remember what this dish is called. But one bite instantly took me back to the street of South East Asia (it must be the galangal). It's unique in flavor, but can use a little more salt. *Pineapple Cornbread - good side dish. A little sweet never hurts nobody. *Chocolate Malva - super chocolate-y cake with a hint of orange. Perfect way to wrap up the meal read more

TL;DR: Cool vibe, sweet playlist, decent food Came for an afternoon snack for 4 semi-hungry fatties Drink: Nue Fashioned (4/5) - strong but a little too sweet Eat: - War chips (4/5) - fries with some toppings. Would've probably given the same rating without the toppings - Ribs (4/5) - way drier than expected. These were super smokey and our group agreed that while it was cooked to the point of fall-off-the-bone, the flavor and texture was more like beef Jersey - Chengdu Chicken wings (4/5) - good wings if you enjoy fish sauce; portion size was really good too *pro tip: if you're sharing, or worried about spice level, definitely ask for the chilis on the side because they are HOT - Egyptian(I thinkBrussels sprouts (2/5): first off, we all love brussels sprouts. These looked so promising but the pomegranate molasses/syrup added is just way too much. We couldn't finish this :( - Hummus & Pita (4/5): Good flavor and consistency with the hummus and the pita was nice and fluffy Overall: we'll be back to kick it, grab some drinks, and to sample the rest of the menu next time keeping in mind that Nue's flavor profile tends to push sweeter than our palettes are used to. Keep up the fish sawwwwce - cheers, Nue! read more
Came during happy hour on a Wednesday with a friend and it was not too busy, we got seated right away. Right off the bat, I was super impressed with the aesthetic & decor of the place - super unique and it felt like I had stepped into a different country entirely! We ordered the Chengdu Spicy Jumbo Chicken Wings and they were DELICIOUS. 10/10. Big enough for the two of us to share as a snack. We saw an ad for Mangdana (Giant Thai Water Beetle) infused vodka on our table and asked our waiter about it out of curiosity, and he let us both take a sip of it for free to try it. It was actually super good and I had never tried anything like it before! They have a cocktail on their menu called Beetle Juice with Mangdana if you're interested in trying this. I personally haven't tried the Beetle Juice cocktail, but would try the next time I visit! read more

I had read about Nue's chicken wings, so I knew I had to try them! I didn't look at the rest of the menu, so I didn't realize it was so culturally/globally diverse, and I loved that. I called the restaurant 3x to try and make a reservation, but didn't get a response. When we arrived, the wait was around 30 minutes. They were very busy and people just kept coming! My boyfriend and I shared the chengdu spicy chicken wings, frites with garlic mayo and the Portuguese peri peri chicken sandwich (I can't remember the exact name). There were other things on previous menus that looked great, but it is a seasonal/constantly changing menu. I also ordered their samgria, which I could have ordered 10 of, it was so refreshing and I loved the hint of guava. The wings were worth the wait. Super crispy/crunchy and flavorful! I am so thankful that the host/waiter (a soft spoken, younger, Asian gentleman) told me how hot the wings were because of the thai pepper and such. My spice tolerance decreased over the years, so even though I would want to try the wings as intended, my body definitely would have hated me. The chicken sandwich was also flavorful (and spicy) and the fries were so simple but deliciously crunchy. At first, I was a little upset because they didn't pick up the phone and I was pretty hungry, but once we were seated and had good conversation with the waiter, then everything was smooth sailing. read more
Decidedly underwhelming. Left wondering if maybe the bunny chow, or some other dish from their repertoire was the one carrying their reputation? Although the décor was definitely in line with their crazy menu, I wasn't really a fan of the general environment. All in all, the vibe for both the place and the food felt like spectacle over practicality or really... quality. As noted in other reviews, it's like cafeteria seating. The Chengdu Spicy Jumbo Chicken Wings were the big disappointment, for me. It was flavorful, for sure, but to me - not in a good way. It just had a kind of overwhelming "too much going on" taste like if you ate a spoonful of garam masala or something, which isn't to say it was especially spicy, or sweet, or salty, or really tasting like any of the flavors you might expect from the name. Reckless seasoning aside, the quality of the fry and breading in general was just pretty weak. You'd expect juicier, crispier stuff with more sophisticated technique from your average chicken chain restaurant, or grocery store, even. We tried the notorious $17 water beetles with "intense fruit & candy" flavors - tricky to eat, weirdly priced at the time we went, if I recall correctly... the spectacle just wasn't worth it. Salty and nowhere near as excitingly flavored as they pitch it. As appealing as their eclectic menu may sound on paper, I just didn't see the execution following through. I'm not sure doing a wide variety of things is all that special if you don't end up doing any of them especially well, or even in a way that especially seems to understand what makes the original dishes good in the first place. But again, maybe I didn't order the right things - my scope was limited. Although I wanted to like them, I'm not especially inclined to give them another try, given the altogether lackluster experience :( YMMV. read more
Based off two positive dinners I've had here with my partner I'm glad to say that Nue is definitely one of my favorite spots out in the Cap Hill area. The service is fast and the indoor ambience can be loud but that is to be expected when the restaurant intends to seat you beside other parties. The food was delicious and highlights small dishes paying homage to different cultural cuisines outside of the US, as well as delicious cocktails and a full bar. read more

Incredible food, great service, immaculate vibes. We ordered the African bunny chow and Sri Lankan squash curry. Both were incredibly delicious. The kat chai and camomilla were also some of my favorite mixed drinks I've tried, particularly the kat chai. Service was prompt and friendly and food was out shortly after ordering. Definitely a great spot that's worth a visit. read more

This review is long overdue, but better late than never. I did some research on unique brunch spots to try for a weekend trip to Seattle and came across Nue. This place did not disappoint! We ordered the following: - Shakshuka The Shakshuka was amazing! This was probably my favorite item that we ordered. The sauce was so flavorful and paired so well with the pita bread and eggs. There is definitely a kick to this, but it wasn't overwhelming whatsoever. - Chendgu Waffles Good flavor, definitely has a kick to it due to the pepper. This was really filling, so good to share with someone! - War Chips I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but they were so yummy. I loved the red onion paired with the sauces on top. - Pineapple Cornbread (not pictured) The pineapple cornbread was recommended by our server and it was good! My boyfriend isn't a sweets guy, but even he enjoyed this one! The coconut flakes really added to the flavor. Overall if I ever visit Seattle, I'd dine here again and try some of the other dishes. The menu is big and some of the items might be new to others, so be be afraid to ask questions! Our server was so attentive and really helpful. He even gave us a list of "must visit" spots in the area after we mentioned we were visiting for the weekend! :) read more
nue is such an adorable restaurant with a chill hipster vibe. it's a super comfortable and casual spot for brunch. unfortunately, the food was not what i wanted it to be. my friend and i shared the chengdu chicken and waffles. while the portion was huge, we both thought the flavors of the two items did not pair well together. the chicken was over seasoned and slightly dry. the waffles were pretty mid tier and the texture of them weren't really there. we were quickly helped by the servers and did not have to wait too long to be seated read more

A unique restaurant that takes you across the world through both their exotic food and ambiance. Want bugs? The thai water beetles have a texture similar to crabs and are eaten in a similar process to eating crawfish. Despite their very fruity fragrance, the beetle are very salty and taste kinda bland. Worth trying for the novelty at least once in my opinion but not multiple times. As for their more normal food it's great! The bunny chow was my favorite but I also enjoyed the tea salad and corn bread as well. read more

How do I make a reservation for more than 10 people?
Yes, please email info@nueseattle.com with your desired date and time and someone will get back to you
Does your outdoor dining area have heat lamps at the tables?
Yes, we have LP heaters and blowers that warm the space and keep it rather toasty 😊
Hi There! Do you have A/C inside the restaurant on hot days?
Hi Anita, Yes, we do have AC. Full disclosure, our space is quite small though so on very hot days, it won't be a perfect 68 degrees. Our HVAC with AC is serviced every month but given the limits of our space, I just want to set expectations.
Can I find wonderful dishes without onion or garlic? Your place looks amazing. Thank you,Chris! I'll be in soon.
Hi Lori, Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately most all of our entrees have garlic and/or onion in them to some degree and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you to find dishes that don't when you dine out.…
Is the meat halal?
Hi Miriam, we use halal meat in one of our dishes, the Pakistani Chapli Kabab. The other meat items on our current menu are not. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
What are the vegetarian options like? Is it more salads or actual full entrees?
They do have few vegetarian entrees. One of them closely matches a kachori with chickepea.
Does this place have bottomless mimosas?
It was on the menu when I went last month. Don't know if it changed or not but I assume it hasn't.
It shows brunch and breakfast, but do you serve dinner?
Yes! Check out the menu here: http://www.nueseattle.com/menu/
When is happy hour?
3-6pm daily, and late night on Friday/Saturday from 10pm-close. Menu here: http://www.nueseattle.com/happy-hour
