Crispy Rice
Kristi M.

This is situated in the cutest area. We were greeted kindly upon entering. The miso soup was perfectly salty and a great starter! The seaweed salad portion is incredibly generous and packs a lot of flavor. The shrimp tempura with veggies was very filling. The spicy tuna crispy rice was my favorite bite and dare I say beats any other restaurants in Denver. We got two rolls, the tejon roll and the volcano roll. The volcano roll was my favorite of the two! The flavors were amazing. The service was great, they are very friendly! Fresh flowers in the bathroom was a nice touch. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Why have I been sleeping on this place for the last two years? Hot damn, the Nozomi team is slinging high quality soosh!! Made the mistake of not making a reservation, definitely do so on a weekend! Best part is you can make the rezy right on their Yelp page. The restaurant was absolutely slammed without an empty seat. Which I'm not going to lie, was incredible to see during these tough times for restaurants; especially in winter. We waited 15 minutes and scored a table. No harm, no foul. My favorite items to order when I go out for sushi is nigiri. I find the combination of raw fish on top of rice to be the pinnacle of seeing how great the fish is on its own, while still getting the bite of rice we all want. The nigiri I had was outstanding. 10/10 wouldn't change a thing. Fresh, buttery, and melted in my mouth. Mmmm, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! We split various rolls and these were great, too. I'd say 4 stars compared to the nigiri. However, they were nicely presented and rolled appropriately where the components didn't fall out while eating. I have to order seaweed salad to start and this portion was hulk-sized! I thought the price was a little high initially, but now I see why. Can easily split between two people! This hidden gem needs to be on your sushi radar for a date night or large group together. Prices aren't exorbitant, table service was quick, and the quality of sushi was excellent. I hope you stay busy, Nozomi!

FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT IN DENVER. This place has the best highest quality / most loaded signature rolls in all of Denver. It is absolutely my favorite. I love that it has a local feel to it, and you can usually walk in to eat. 12/10 would recommend. Ambiance is also super cute!

Wow, this place was poppin'! I stopped by on a Saturday without a reservation and got super lucky snagging a spot at the bar, definitely recommend making reservations on weekends. The sushi was incredibly fresh and full of flavor, and the service was attentive and friendly throughout the night. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a date or intimate one-on-one conversation. It's a smaller space, so probably not ideal for large groups, but that's part of its charm, it feels personal and lively without being overcrowded. Free two hour parking around this cute neighborhood!

We were here on a busy Saturday night. Definitely recommend a reservation. After we got seated we were quickly brought water. Once we placed our order we got our sushi faster than I ever have any where before. Sushi was fresh, accurate and delicious. It is a chaotic spot to dine, very busy and loud but overall would return.

This is an amazing sushi restaurant. The food is extremely fresh. The food here is a little pricey. Every single roll we had was extremely great. The wine and saki menu is very good. Service was terrible. We had to flag the waiter down to order, ask for more, the check, and to pay. I would have given this place a 5 if service wasn't so bad. It took us a little over 45 mins to place our order and another 45- 1 hour to get the food.

Celebrated my birthday at Nozomi! It was my first time at this place but it became my new favorite for omakase in Denver. Fish was super fresh and every piece was served like a piece of art. I loved their black cod, it was incredible! My husband's favorite was the Hokkaido scallop. The service was very good, friendly and fast! The place is small and cozy which makes for private experience! I highly recommend this place, it's a true gem!

My sister has been telling me about this sushi spot and I finally got the chance to try it! We came with a large group of about 9 of us and had a reservation. The restaurant was packed! I just let my sister's boyfriend order for the group but everything was really good. The standouts were definitely the toro, sashimi appetizers, and the seared salmon. They all tasted really fresh and buttery. The service was top notch and they were super attentive despite how busy the restaurant was. Would definitely come back here for sushi if I'm ever in the area.

The food was great because we're very full. They got our plates out of the way right away so nice and helpful!!! Loved the food. Will come back!

Good happy hour. Food was really fresh and tasty. I wish they had more variety on their happy hour menu but other than that, it was great! Fast, attentive service and the inside is very cute.

Food was fine, but honestly nothing exceptional. We had to wait at the door for a while and also to pay. A fine, little neighborhood sushi place, but nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion.

I feel like good, quality sushi is hard to find! But Nozomi is one of the great ones! Everything we ordered tasted so fresh and delicious! The service was a little slow, but it was a busy night. But it was nice to not feel rushed. Overall, it was so good and I will definitely go back!

We enjoy coming to Nozomi Sushi, the food is good and the weekend happy hour is a nice perk. That said, we were surprised (and a bit disappointed) to be charged $1 for a tiny squirt of sriracha. The place could also use a deep clean, as the tables and floors weren't very tidy during our visit. With a little more attention to detail, this could easily be a great spot. 3.5 stars.

The experience truly begins with the reservation, where you are asked a series of questions from your familiarity with sushi, fish preference, appetite level, and so on. This truly is an in-depth questionnaire so that the chef Yasu could source fish from Nagahama fish market for your meal. It's an incredibly personal, curated meal. On the date of, you are led to a private room in the back, Denchu Den, which is a simple, private sushi bar for up to 4 guests. Then, Chef Yasu comes out for a truly intimate experience, one that is extremely rare to come by, even in Japan. It is truly just your party and the chef as he prepares some truly epic bite. And the menu is not set, it really depends on your personal taste, and the food continues basically until you tap out. As such, there is no set price, though typically we run up about $150-200 a person. It's a 2 hour experience during which you get to experience that Japanese hospitality with chef Yasu. We talked with him about his home, learned about his experience in Denver, and he provided some fun facts about sushi and Japanese in culture in general. I cannot praise this truly unique experience enough, and, in fact, we have been back here every single year. The cherry on top is that as you return, Chef Yasu starts to remember your preference and even past conversation. And it does not end there. Based on our conversation where I discussed my next Japan trip, Chef Yasu even took time to send us an email with his recommendations. The Chef Table at Sushi Den is truly a one of a kind experience here in Denver.

Dessert: lemon crème brûlée and green tea ice cream The interior was very clean but lacking. Tables crammed tightly together, the granite table tops had big chips at the edges. My husband's chair was falling apart and I sat on the booth side and by the end of dinner my back was killing me. I was sunk in a hole so I had to awkwardly sit at the very front edge of the bench seat to be even remotely comfortable. Looking at other chairs around us, they were in no better shape.

Having champagne waiting at the table was such a great touch and set the tone for the night. We went with a chef's choice experience and every course was thoughtful, creative, and incredibly well executed. The surprises throughout the meal and the complimentary dishes made it feel even more special. The wagyu on the hot stone was easily the best thing I have eaten in my 36 years. What really made the night unforgettable was the team. They gifted us a cookbook signed by everyone with a beautiful message, which meant a lot to us. This is a night we will be talking about for a very long time. Thank you to the entire Uchi team for such an incredible experience.

There genuinely was not a single dish I didn't like. The standout for me was the scallop nigiri. It was SO delicate and balanced that it barely even registered as "fishy" at all. It just tasted subtly sweet, buttery, and clean with this perfect hint of lemon/citrus that brightened everything without overpowering the scallop itself. I could've eaten 20 of them honestly. The 72-hour wagyu nigiri was insane. Literal meat butter. Rich, smoky, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. I also loved the sashimi dish with the fresh mandarin oranges/citrus broth situation. The brightness from the citrus paired with the richness of the fish so beautifully and made the whole thing feel incredibly fresh and layered. Every dish had contrast and balance like that. Nothing felt heavy even though we ate a LOT. Another unexpected favorite was the handheld salad that you dip into the dressing. Super fresh, crunchy, acidic, and honestly such a smart palate cleanser between richer bites. The service was incredible too. This is the kind of place where you can tell them what textures/flavors you like or don't like and they genuinely curate the experience around you instead of making it feel intimidating or pretentious. Everyone was warm, knowledgeable, and excited about the food. Also, the presentation across the board was gorgeous without feeling gimmicky. You can tell Uchi cares about the full experience, not just aesthetics for Instagram. Best sushi meal I've had in my life so far and honestly now I understand the hype.

That was a big mistake. My friend was in the mood for fish and we also wanted to visit a couple of the galleries on Santa Fe Drive, so we took a chance for an early dinner. We were amply rewarded--the food was terrific, the space was comfortable, and the service was efficient and friendly. There's a small sushi bar at the entrance and a large, covered and enclosed patio to the south of the building (warm weather use only). You can't see the main dining room from the street, but it is tucked in the back of the building. The menu is not huge, but there's a good selection of starters/small plates, an interesting selection of entrées, plus fried rice and ramen options. There are multiple vegetarian choices in every part of the menu. The raw menu includes 26 sushi/sashimi choices, 26 regular rolls, eight vegetable rolls, and ten special rolls. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The seaweed salad was particularly good. The Unagi (freshwater eel) was extremely tender and flavorful. We also tried the Dragon Roll and the flavor and texture combination was great. Our other nigiri selections were beautifully sliced and at the peak of perfection. The place was totally packed by 6:00 p.m., but the service continued to be attentive and fast. We had a really great time and the bill was very reasonable. Give this place a try!
