Finally found the perfect cross training program to strengthen my core, improve my balance and…read morelengthen muscles to prevent injuries and improve my fitness. I've tried the "blue light" competitor studios around the Reston/Ashburn area, I've tried the boot camp classes and cross fit.. but I felt that none gave me the options to tailor my training based on how I felt physically that day or week and none gave me the ability to control my own pace to achieve my personal fitness goals and stay motivated. In May 2019.. I found Club Pilates Sterling and I have been addicted ever since! The variety and skill levels of classes available are amazing. If you are a runner or any type of athlete - you NEED to add this to your training! If you're coming back from an injury or just getting started on a fitness program- this is definitely the right place! If you're looking for cardio or interval training - it's fantastic here too! And of all the places I have tried - nothing beats the expertise, genuine interest and support that these instructors provide. As an additional note - when COVID hit... the studio was proactive to reach out and find out what members wanted and the instructors quickly rolled out virtual classes which not only helped me keep off the COVID "15" but saved my emotional sanity as well. As of the date of this review (June 23) - the studio is back open!! with multiple layers of procedures and protections in place to protect everyone. And the class size is only 12 people. I tried my first "in studio" class post isolation last night and felt very comfortable and have already booked my next classes tomorrow and this weekend! I still plan to continue virtual classes on the days that I work from home. Again.. the key takeaway with this studio is you have options! Find what works for your body and soon you'll be addicted too.

Terrible service and rude to customers, definitely wouldn't go here, better options in the area.read more

I'm updating my review to add back a star to 4 total. Some improvements I've noticed lately:…read more - More frequent communication on social media and elsewhere digitally to members about happenings at the gym - Equipment repairs and even replacements of things like rope attachments for cables are happening quickly - Cleanliness overall is really good; I almost always see someone cleaning something when I'm there - Staff has been very friendly and helpful I also recently got a second gym membership at Planet Fitness* and have tried out several of their locations in northern Virginia since. And it's very clear what the difference between a ~$20 membership and a ~$60 membership get you. Compared to the 'chain gyms,' TFE is: - Way cleaner and better maintained, especially the locker room - Has a sauna, always a big bonus - Has additional strength training equipment, 1:1 cables, and weights that go up higher for those of us who are more experienced *Three big reasons I sprung for the outside membership: 1) TFE hours are rough sometimes to fit into my schedule especially the weekend hours. 24/7 gym is a necessity for me sometimes, even if I have to settle for a slightly less intense facility. 2) The day passes are so expensive. I imagine I can't be the only person who has a significant other or family member who doesn't live in the area but visits frequently enough to want to come to the gym. My girlfriend lives in Arlington so it'd be crazy for her to pay this gym's membership price to workout on the weekends with me, but it's actually cheaper for me to get a black card at PF than to buy even a couple day passes at TFE. I would recommend to TFE to think up its own version of a black card to allow for unlimited guests, perhaps throw in some massages at the salon inside the facility, etc. 3) It's month-to-month so there's no risk involved to try it. I understand why non-chains can't do this though as they likely rely on the people who sign up and then never come to keep crowds down but stay operational. Overall, TFE is great and you seem to get what you pay for compared to cheaper chain gym options, but I would love better weekend hours and more flexibility in bringing occasional guests as part of the membership.

I've been at GB Ashburn for about two months, and so far the experience was awesome, and kind of…read morelife-changing! Initially, I was exploring different martial arts gyms for my 3-year-old daughter. While my daughter was pretty wary and didn't want to commit, I got a really good feeling the first time we observed the class and decided to join - And my gut feeling was right! There are three things that I love most about this gym: 1. People. Everyone, from the professors/coaches to the peers, are wonderful. The professors are all super friendly, approachable, and are always great at answering questions. The peers are respectful and not overly aggressive (in a hurtful-injury kinda way), and the upper belts are always happy to give pointers when asked (or when I look desperately clueless). I'll admit that I find grappling sports extremely intimidating, but everyone at the gym is so kind that I was able to continue going despite feeling super intimidated. Also, there are so many students, but the professors always remember people's names. That's amazing! Big shout out to Professor Dana, Professor Rafael, and Professor Thiago for being awesome. 2. The environment. The physical environment is clean, but more importantly, I find the (non-physical) environment incredibly welcoming. There are areas for kids to hang out when parents are taking classes, plenty of chairs and sofa, and staff are just so, so kind and nice to the kids!! As a mom who's hoping to get her 3-yo interested in bjj, I really appreciate this set up. 3. The classes. There are morning classes, middle-of-the-day classes, evening classes, and Saturday classes. There are classes for kids, teens, adults, and FEMALES. This variety allows me to attend classes with a wonky work schedule and learn from different professors and peers. More importantly, the classes are very organized, such that when I attend classes almost randomly throughout the week, different professors are all teaching similar techniques that build off of a streamlined curriculum, and I don't feel that I must attend classes on a regular schedule (e.g., M/W at 6:30am). I also love that there are position-specific training toward the latter part of every class. It's intimidating, but I learn a lot from these practices! I guess I could go on, but I'll just say that I highly recommend this gym!

The professors clearly all have a vested interest in helping their students reach their max potential. It is a family environment, but they train hard in the correct way.
