I needed to empty out my brother's apartment in Arlington VA on a Saturday during a peak moving weekend. NOVA Junk Removal responded immediately to my Yelp inquiry and was able to give me a prompt estimate based upon my description of the apartment and the items to be hauled away. (Other hauling companies wanted to see the apartment before giving me an estimate.) Over the next few days, we exchanged 3 or 4 messages to make sure about all the details. At the last minute, the apartment building threw a curveball -- because there were other people moving in/out on the same day, we would not be able to use the loading dock nor would we be able to reserve the freight elevator. We would have to move everything out through the main entrance, and share elevators as they became available. NOVA Junk Removal was willing to work under those constraints and did not revise their estimate upwards. On the morning of the haul, Omar showed up with 3 other workers. They were all extremely professional, polite, and careful, even when the concierge started breathing down our necks for taking too long. When they finished, Omar did not ask for one extra cent, despite the extra time and effort involved. (Because we didn't have access to the loading dock, they had to carry everything much farther. And because we didn't have a dedicated, lockable freight elevator, we spent a fair amount of time waiting for elevators to become available.) I was very happy to add a generous tip on top of the quoted price. I highly recommend NOVA Junk Removal. These guys haven't even left my property yet and I wanted to go ahead and write my review. I had a pretty insane pileup of junk in my garage that was causing me a lot of stress, and rather than trying to figure out how I could slowly distribute it to my regular trash pickups for free, I decided to bite the bullet and pay to have it all removed at once. Calling NOVA Junk Removal was the best decision I made! EVERYONE I interacted with was so nice (setting my appointment up with Norman, then the crewmember who stopped me when I was apologizing for how crazy my garage was to say "Let me start by saying you don't have to say sorry"--and he was completely genuine about it, too) and made the whole process a breeze. They let me know when they were on their way, I showed them what I wanted taken and left them to their work, paid with a credit card and it was done. It took a HUGE weight off my shoulders. Had a great experience with these guys on 4/21/14. I called them a few days earlier and got a prompt callback (minutes later) from Omar, who was very polite and professional. They came on 4/21 to remove a whole bunch of stuff from our house due to a major renovation. They were extremely efficient, professional and down to business. No goofing around, texting, talking to their friends on the phone etc, just straightforward doing what they came to do: haul big heavy things out of our house. They worked incredibly fast and got rid of junk on 3 levels of our house in about 20 minutes. The price was very fair. At the end, I realized I had forgotten to include about 100 pounds of old books that were in a box, as well as a big wet, gross pile of boards in my backyard. I offered to pay more to get this stuff hauled out, but Omar said he'd do it gratis, and they did. I was impressed and happy with that. I will absolutely call them with more work. We had collected nearly two decades of ... stuff that we were storing in the garage. I can't remember the last time we could get our second car in there. We worked for four days to separate what we absolutely had to keep, from what we might give away, from what we could toss. The "what we could toss" pile grew as we worked. We called NOVA Junk Removal, told them we were still a day or two away from needing them. They suggested two days, gave us a time frame, said they would call 30 minutes ahead. It worked exactly as they promised. Two young men set about getting everything from our garage into their truck. Didn't take more than 20 minutes. At one point a bag broke, scattering things in the alley behind our garage. No cursing or mumbling. They just picked everything up and finished the job. My place of employment needed a storage until cleared out, so I set up an appointment with NOVA Junk removal. However, on the date on my appointment my daughter had to be rushed to the Emergency Room. I didn't even remember about the appointment until the next day, after listening to a couple of voicemails letting me know the crew ready to go and that they were heading over to meet me. I felt so bad, so I called to apologize and let them know why I had missed the appointment. I thought their response would be that they would have to charge me for the missed appointment. Instead their response was I didn't need to apologize, he asked how my daughter was doing and when my response was that my daughter needed ongoing care, he told me he would pray for her. I have used Nova Junk Removal several times and have never been disappointed; I have always been treated in a courteous and professional manner. Everyone, from Norman who schedules the appointments to Omar and his crew, are extremely pleasant and work in a very efficient fashion. I was able to get an appointment quickly with an arrival window of 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. At 12:40 I received a phone stating that the crew was 20 minutes out; they showed up exactly at 1:00 PM. They worked quickly removing two large, glass-door bookcases, solid wood entertainment center, a chair with foot stool, solid wood snack tables, and a queen sized mattress in less than 20 minutes and for a very affordable $185. The crew was very conscientious when removing the items, taking care with the walls, other furniture, and carpets. Yes this is as good as it gets - this review should be more than 5 stars. I called NoVa Junk in the evening and Norm said Omar will be over the next day. Omar came by the next day a few minutes early and looked around the house to see what was going and we setup a time and the crew was there early. I showed Omar, Norm and the crew what was going and they started. It was raining and Omar put down a sheet by the door so they did not track in water. They moved all the junk out and then swept up the small items and the place looked GREAT. The job required two trucks but they brought three just in case. They FILLED the two trucks and they were in and out in 75 minutes. I paid by CC on his handheld device and got an receipt emailed. Wow! Easily the best experience I've had in a long, long time with a hired crew. The three men were courteous, pleasant, professional, careful, and super efficient. They cleared out almost half a carport's worth of junk in less than ten minutes, as well as two large items from inside the house. I had emailed a couple of companies at the same time, and only Nova Junk responded, and they did so quickly. The estimate I received held up, even though after opening my storage shed I discovered several other items that needed to go. Norman, from Nova Junk, responded almost immediately to my request with a quote, and he was very prompt in responding to my questions. I needed to have a couch and a small handful of other items removed. When Nova Junk arrived, they actually adjusted the price down when they saw that I had less items to pick up than they originally thought based on my description. They were very courteous and completely the task very quickly. I paid by credit card and the whole operation was rather painless. My one warning would be to check your spam folder while you are communicating through yelp, and move to another means of communication once you've decided to go with them. I was very pleased with my experience using these folks. Scheduling an appointment was no problem, and the man I talked to (Norman?) was friendly and helpful. On the day-of, Omar called 30 minutes before he and two other guys showed up at my door. They provided a fair estimate very quickly. I told them that I had a cat, and they were extremely careful about keeping doors shut as much as possible while moving things out of the house. I also forgot to include a couple of items in my count before Omar gave me an estimate, and he said it was no problem to take those items as well. On the initial call to set up the appointment, the gentleman was professional and courteous and informed me of the 5% military discount. The day of the removal, Omar and his crew were very efficient and exercised care. They even helped me clean out my refrigerator and a few cabinets. As i was getting ready to pay for the services, I discovered that my credit card was a few dollars shy of the agreed 5% discounted price. This is the first time I've ever used a haul away service. And fortunately I picked an excellent company. Not only were they very responsive (Norman contacted me right away) and on time, but also very courteous and professional. I thought my parents basement was an embarrassing hording-like experience, but Norm assured me that it was very manageable. I put my trust in him and was rewarded! We were moving interstate and needed our rubbish taken before the removal trucks arrived in a few days. The communication was excellent, timely, and quote excellent. Even though Nova was booked out, they made every effort to try and fit our job in, and let me know regularly when there would be a chance for this to occur. Yup, another 5 star review. From the start they were responsive and courteous. When planning they returned my call immediately. They were helpful in judging how much I had and flexible in scheduling. They, Omar, called the day before to confirm my appointment, this was especially welcomed because it was the day of a big snow here and they assured me that that would not prevent them from making the pickup. I submitted a request for a quote via their website and received an email response within hours (it was even after close of business) providing the quote and pickup time options for the days I requested the following week. They called 30 minutes prior to arrival and were patient when I had to track down our freight elevator. They quickly and carefully removed several large pieces of furniture without dragging them along my wood floors (I was watching that closely). I have used their competitors in the past but they have changed my perspective on that, the bigger truck, prompt service, communication, customer service, and personnel were excellent. These guys are honestly amazing. The price was crazy amazing. Very good deal! They worked their asses off to clear out house in 6 hours. The ENTIRE house including dishes in cabinets, the fridge, all the furniture and crap. Clothing, washer and dryer, the entire garage, bedrooms, a shed, and area carpets in the bedrooms. The crew worked hard. No goofing around or half ass anything. Very hard workers. I couldn't be more impressed or happy, not to mention grateful.
