This was seafood with linguini with pink sauce amazing!!!

Had a wonderful dinner and was happy to see the same server had been there for over 40 years! The food is awesome and I can't wait to go back! It's a hidden treasure! Love supporting local restaurants.

Cacerola Nova Europa

We ate at Nova Europa for a pre-Christmas family dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated and dimly lit, and the ambiance was perfect for the occasion. The complimentary bread was also a highlight - warm baskets of baguettes served with butter - some of the best bread I've had at a restaurant. I would recommend the 3-course dinner special if you want an appetizer, dessert, or wine with your meal. It was very reasonably priced at ~$32 for 3 of these 4: appetizer, entree, dessert, and wine. I'd recommend the Cacerola Nova Europa (clams and mussels in marinara) for appetizers. For entrees, we tried the Frutos Do Mar (mixed seafood with fish over linguine) and Veal Nova Europa. The Frutos Do Mar was basically a platter full of seafood with very little linguine - this was good value for the money and it was yummy, but not something I'd recommend if you're looking for a pasta dish. The veal plate seemed to be a lot smaller. We tried the chocolate cake and creme caramel (flan) for dessert. The cake was a bit too sweet and we couldn't finish the whole thing. The flan seemed to be the better option here. Service was just ok - not terrible, but not spectacular. I would come back to try more on the menu if I'm in the area!

I just came back from Portugal, so I have decided to try this Portuguese restaurant. It's an old fashioned restaurant, with white tablecloths. Each entrée comes with fresh salad. The food is good, very friendly staff.

Another infuriating example of a restaurant that I knew was there but hadn't tried...for all 22 years I've lived in Montgomery County. Now I'm kicking myself for not having gone earlier. We went for Mothers' Day 2022 where they had a special menu but I think that the things we ordered are on the regular menu (at least the main courses). I had the Steak a Portugesa which was cooked perfectly. Medium rare, tender, and the flavor of the meats, egg, and gravy together was amazing. Mom had the lamb chops which were also flawlessly cooked and tender. Our appetizers were portabella mushrooms which were very very good (I hate mushrooms and actually kinda liked them) and the shrimp cocktail (which was fine but not earth shattering). We also made the mistake (not a mistake) of getting dessert. Mom & son had chocolate mousse which was light and airy and quite chocolatey (is that a word?). I was in the "when in Rome" mode and stuck with the Portuguese dessert, Pasteis De Nata (as seen on "Somebody Feed Phil"). Both desserts were excellent and worth saving room. There is a 100% chance that I'm going back to this place...many many times in an effort to make up for 22 lost years.

I can't believe I haven't heard more people talking about Ambar in DC/Clarendon! We went to the…read moreClarendon location for dinner yesterday and it was absolutely incredible. They offer an all-you-can-eat dinner menu (plus brunch), and every single thing we tried was delicious. We were a party of two and definitely overstuffed ourselves trying as much as we could Honestly, I think 3-4 people would be the perfect group size so you can share everything and sample more dishes comfortably. The food came out quickly, tapas-style, which made the whole experience even better. Great price for the amount and quality of food, excellent service, and such a fun ambiance. The decor was also super cute. I really liked that they had a large disability ramp as well.

When we walked in, we thought it was gonna be packed because there were no reservations on OpenTable however they were able to see us right away. A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table. Also, when serving the dishes were not kept level and basically was slide to the side of the dish, making presentation off

I chose Ambar for my group, and I'm very pleased with our selection. Food Most of our group had dietary restrictions. Several of us were gluten free, and one person was both nut and seafood free. Ambar did an excellent job curating a menu that worked for everyone without making anyone feel like an afterthought. We opted for the Chef's Table experience, which included a spread tasting with veggie sticks and a variety of dishes that were clearly labeled and thoughtfully prepared: * Bean hummus - GF / DF / NF * Ajvar - GF / DF / NF * Balkan salad - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without feta cheese) * Baby carrots - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without tofu sauce) * Roasted peppers - GF / DF / NF * Cauliflower - GF / DF / NF * Baked beans - GF / DF / NF * Roasted lamb - GF / DF / NF * Stuffed pork belly "Sarma" - GF / DF / NF * Brussels sprouts - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without yogurt and bacon) * Seafood platter Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. The meal was so delicious that I didn't even manage to get photos of everything, which rarely happens for me. Just know we dined very well and left completely satisfied. Service The staff was wonderful from start to finish. From the event team member who served as our account manager, to the chef, to the servers and wait staff, everyone was attentive and accommodating. They handled our dietary needs with care and professionalism and made sure our group felt taken care of throughout the evening. Pricing We paid a set fee that we were able to negotiate, and the final rate wasn't too bad for a group experience like this. Just keep in mind that there is an admin fee, a 20% gratuity, and taxes added on top, so be sure to factor that into your planning if you're booking a group event. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend Ambar for group dining, especially if you have guests with dietary restrictions. They made coordination easy, delivered great food, and created a memorable dining experience for our team.

Some of the items are very tasty (kebabs, cheese pie) while others are a major letdown (shakshuka, mini burger). Read reviews in advance to understand what to order. Drinks were unique - I particularly enjoyed the lavender peach mimosa. But the champagne quality is not very good so beware if you are partaking in bottomless drinks. Service was good and fast, ambiance was alright but nothing to write home about. An OK experience overall.

I'm thankful it happened early in the morning and no one was seriously injured. I hope that the owners can repair the damage allowing them to reopen this location! My understanding is that they have two other locations in the DC area. During our visit, our service was friendly, quick and efficient. We had the all-you-can eat brunch for about $37/person. We didn't elect the bottomless mimosas though I was seriously tempted! We ate inside since I was worried about the chilly morning, but the enclosed patio looked delightful. I kinda wish we'd eaten out there! Noise levels inside were manageable. The food was wonderful and some dishes like the flatbread pizza were larger than I expected. I'll say I think bottomless brunches are best enjoyed by a group of 3 minimum, ideally 4-6. For two of us, it was hard to sample as much as we'd like, especially if we want to try different things. One gets full faster than you'd expect and I hate to waste food! A couple dishes that stood out to me: the little donut holes were a treat as was the white flatbread. The beet tzatziki served with pita bread tasted amazing! I'm less of a poached egg person, so I can't comment on those options. I didn't take pics of each dish, too busy enjoying them! Definitely worth working AMBAR into your brunch rotation!

Hard to find an elegant restaurant like this anymore where the food and ambiance are superb. Being a bit "old-school" about fancy restaurants, I like getting dressed up and going to a place that feels special. This is the place. Not only is the food delicious, but expertly presented. An amazing bread basket that I had to refrain from eating too much as I knew my dinner would be rich and filling. Also, the cocktails are superb. Even though many restaurants now serve specialty cocktails, they don't always live up to expectations. Here at Bas Rouge they are mixed beautifully. One should be aware that, although I believe you can order al a carte, it's mainly a three/four or seven course menu. NOTE: I was extremely dismayed to see that they had foie gras on the menu. Especially seeing that this restaurant is named after I believe the owner's breed of dog that he loves, I believe foie gras, as many people do, is animal cruelty to produce. They also serve veal that again, is usually from animals confined to crates that stunt their growth. Sorry for the bummer ending, just stating what I believe is factual.

We had 75 minutes before a show across the street at the…read moreWarner Theatre, and we had three criteria: nothing too loud and crowded, service had to be swift and attentive, and we wanted a full bar to enjoy a cocktail before the show. The Henri checked off these criteria, and then some! One friend got there early and started at the bar. When we arrived 15 minutes later, we were seated in the dining room room right away. This was about 5:45 PM on a Wednesday night. The dining room room was maybe half full, and we could easily have a conversation without straining to hear each other. When one of us was scooting in our chair toward the table, we noticed soundproofing pads mounted under the tables...so that might account for the ability to hear one another. (Smart design!) I had The Henri Margarita, which was a beet infused casa del sol tequila with beet agave. OMG it was fantastic! My two friends tried mine and ordered one for themselves. Refreshing and delightful. They brought a small bread basket while we waited for entrees, and the sliced bread tasted homemade with a crisp crust and soft interior. Two of us had the Rockfish Imperial: rockfish with a seared crust, topped with lump crab meat, seasonal vegetables and potatoes, with a beet buerre blanc sauce. (Wouldn't that technically be a buerre rouge, then?) It was very well prepared, the seared crust excellent and well seasoned, fish cooked to perfection, and the caulilini (part of the vege medley) was a new vegetable that I've never had before and enjoyed! Not a crumb left on the plate when I was done. Our other friend had the classic Orange Glazed Duck Breast that came with fingerling potatoes and sunchokes. He enjoyed his very much as well. For dessert (and I'm sorry I didn't get the actual name of it) we shared a chocolate mousse cake with banana gelato. The cake was good, the gelato was delicious and refreshing, and the pairing was outstanding. The service was very attentive, and we didn't need to flag anyone down for anything. We even forgot to warn ahead that we had a show to go to! They were able to split the check in thirds, and we were able to check out with plenty of time to head across the street to the theater. I'm still thinking about that beet margarita, five days later! This will definitely be my go-to spot for a deliciously prepared meal and the ability to have audible conversation with friends before any shows at the Warner or National.

I liked them without the dipping sauce, but try it and see if you like it. I would like to go back and try dinner. In looking at their menu, they accommodate may allergies and eating preferences, which is always a bonus. I will note this restaurant is a little on the pricier side, but very on par with restaurants in this area. They also have a great happy hour in looking at their website. I'm happy to now have a good pre theater spot!

I told him that this was my first time visiting and he provided a great welcome and wished me a wonderful dining experience. Service: the entire staff was great! Attentive to all of the tables and they did a good job at explaining some of the top menu items. Ambiance: simple yet elegant. The open kitchen concept is one of my favorite things but what adds beauty to this place is their magnificent patio seating (no pics as there was a large party present). The restrooms also add to the beautiful ambiance, showcasing cultural elements in every piece of artwork. They also have a cute bar in the middle so guests can grab a drink while waiting for reservations. The Silk Road Spread For $40, you can enjoy 2 small plates and 1 entree. This cost is per person and each person has the benefit of selecting their own 2 small plates and entree-such a worthy price. Small shareable plates: Shaved papaya & shrimp salad -- the perfect summer salad. It's lite and delicious. A beautiful balance of acidity, sweetness, and savory flavors. It was a great way to open your palate. Malai kofta -- another incredible dish! Lean and perfectly seasoned with a delicious side of confit garlic and labneh (yogurt). I could eat an entire bowl of this. Bombay toast -- this toast was sinfully good. The flavor profile was impeccable. The flavors in the tomato chili jam were AMAZING! Then add the sunny side egg, avocado, and perfectly crisped sourdough toast and you've found a dish worth trying. Pomegranate yogurt parfait --this was perfect! Not too sweet but balanced just right with a delectable jam, pomegranate, and crunchy granola. I was on cloud 9. For my entree I ordered the lobster mufurrakat battata. My only complaint is that my party and I ordered the exact same dish and the presentation and serving sizes were totally off-something the kitchen should be mindful of when serving a table. Nonetheless, this dish was rich in flavor and amazing! The lobster chunks were fresh and the spiced fingerling potatoes were divine! The eggs and sauce added to what was a perfect end to a beautiful journey. I am looking forward to another brunch adventure here to try some other dishes.
