Last full day in Philly, and I was on the hunt for a cafe to chill out and grab a bite. Came across Nourish in my Yelp search and decided to give it a shot. And I'm so glad I did! It's a combination of a quick stop health food store and restaurant. The staff were very nice and welcoming. I kept it light and ordered a Tropical Paradise smoothie, which was absolutely delicious, along with a curry chickpea empanada. Nothing disappointed. I ate on the cafe side this time around, but they have a nice dining area, so I would love to come back and enjoy a full meal. No doubt this would be a go-to spot for me if I lived here! read more

Vegan cuisine on the edge of Fish Town. I love this place. The grab and go juices are phenomenal. Flavors are daily, I like the Blueberry Pineapple. Some even come with seamoss! Nourish moved into what I believe was formerly a different vegan spot that had excellent food but wasn't open with longer evening hours. Nourish came from another great neighborhood which was having issues with fire apparently. I didn't know about Nourish before or it being in East Passyunk before now. I ordered the Meatball Sub because it is a customer Yelp fave- very accurate. Mac and cheese because I love Mac. I like Boardwalk Vegan's Mac more personally because of the solid cheese rather than liquified cheese but this one is good too. Is the sauce slightly nut based or maybe there is cardamom? I went with a nut drink as I don't typically get nut drinks. They have many sea moss drink options which seem to simulate African culture is my impression. I don't mind the sea moss but I don't have to have it and because of it's lack of essentialness for me to get and appropriate price point, I tend to sway toward this drink type option less. I would still order it as I like to mix my options up generally. Staff is friendly. Also the ambiance with the plants and decor inside is beautiful. It is a safe feeling mini-jungle looking to be 'developed' more. If you want to take your decor a step further, consider reaching out to Gunnar Montana who created a full blown mini-jungle to the pet store that sadly closed this month or so apparently. He has been involved in art, dancing, performance , possibly many other art forms I am unaware of. Nourish is a delightful plant-based cafe and juice bar located in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. When you first walk in, it gave apothecary vibes with the medicinal wall to the right, but jus a few inches away were the premade smoothies and juices. Here you can dine-in or take out. I chose to dine-in. You can place your order at the kiosk or at the counter. OK, so here's what I ordered: Vegan scallops: these are made with seasoned trumpet mushrooms. It also comes with a dipping sauce. The mushroom were not chewy and had a good texture. 4/5 Plantain nuggets: these were deep fried green plantains mixed with vegetables and then deep fried. They were crispy and flavorful with and without the dipping sauce. 5/5 Banging Buffalo Quesadilla: these were FANTASTIC! You gotta get these every time you visit. Nothing but goodness in every bite. It came with a side kale salad that was also very good. The kale wasn't tough and had a good blend of seasonings. 5/5 Chick UN cheesesteak: this was delicious. It was cooked to perfection. The bread was crispy, the vegan cheese was blended evenly throughout the sandwich. 5/5 Quinoa Stirfry: this was sautéed with onions, peppers, ginger, carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms. I should have gotten soy sauce to give it a bit more flavor, but it was still very good. 4/5 I got some sweet potato fries just because. Y'all know how they taste, so no description needed. LOL Overall, Nourish is a winner!! The food was made to order and served HOT-which is always a plus in my book. They also serve breakfast. So there is something for everyone. I've never seen a "chicken" made with enoki before, but it works! The chick'un platter came with a side of sautéed kale and vegan Mac and cheese. Both were delicious! The mango pineapple smoothie that I had was also well crafted. This restaurant is cafe style, low key, and would make a wonderful spot to stop in for any meal. My wife and I tried Nourish yesterday, and we're still talking about the experience. Not only was the food absolutely out of this world, but the entire atmosphere of the restaurant made the visit unforgettable. The owner, deserves a special shout-out. She spoke with us a little bit about her journey and her inspiration for the restaurant. The way she interacted with her staff was so patient, supportive, and reassuring. She reminded them that if they needed help up front, all they had to do was let her know and she would immediately step in. That level of leadership says everything about the heart behind this place. The menu itself is a breath of fresh air; fresh, creative, and full of beautiful Caribbean influences that give the dishes a unique twist. Every bite had layers of flavor that made it obvious how much thought and passion goes into the cooking. On top of that, the restaurant is simply beautiful. I am so glad we braved the snow, ice, & cold to come here for dinner; it was worth it. When we first walked in there were people in line, but we were not clear on if that was for takeout or eat-in; after asking someone we learned it was for both. So when I called ahead to order the taco platter (misreading and thinking it was black bean tacos) I was surprised when I found out it was vegan chicken; their vegan chicken being enoki mushrooms. Me and my girlfriend stopped by Nourish on Girard Ave and had a really good experience. We were honestly super picky and took a while to decide what we wanted, but the staff showed nothing but patience and understanding the whole time. They were very welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate us without making us feel rushed. The whole place had a warm, family-like environment. You can order takeout and there were tons of "grab and go" options as well. The cupcakes personally felt a little bit on the pricey side (~$5/$6) but we went ahead splurged and no complaints at all! My wife brought me home a vegan chicken cheesesteak made with Enoki mushrooms, it was DELICIOUS... We drove back to Philadelphia a week later to get another one .. It was DELICIOUS.. The location was easily accessible. The dining room was clean open and friendly. The employee staff was kind considerate and made you feel right at home. The owner was there and she treated us just like family. The prices were reasonable, good healthy food cost, and I'm willing to pay for it. I will definitely be going back again very soon. I wanted to like Nourish (since it's plant based and some of their foods are unique) that I tried their food twice but both times, the food was disappointing. The first time, I ordered the "It's Tradition" pizza (multigrain crust with marinara sauce, red onion, green peppers, vegan sausage, and vegan cheese) and the Seamoss Mango Pineapple juice for delivery. The vegan cheese had a bad texture (it reminded me of glue) that I had to scrape it off to be able to eat the pizza, and it tasted very unappetizing. The Seamoss Mango Pineapple juice was bit pricey but it was delicious. It tasted like a regular mango pineapple smoothie, and I did't taste any of the seamoss. The next time I tried their food, I ordered the "Vegan Fried Chick'un Platter" for delivery (enoki mushroom battered and fried - as the "chicken", vegan mac and cheese, and sauteed kale. The portion was pretty generous. The picture doesn't do it justice since there was more of the vegan mac and cheese and sauteed kale hidden underneath the "chicken". I got three pieces of the "chicken" and the enoki mushrooms (stringy mushrooms) tasted alright but the batter was a little bit salty. I didn't enjoy eating the sauteed kale since I think they cooked it in soy sauce/something similar to soy sauce so it was way too salty. I didn't mind that the vegan mac and cheese wasn't cheesy, and I think they used butternut squash for the color and texture of mac and cheese but it just tasted okay. I don't think I would try their food again (or at least not reorder the items I already tried) but I would come back for their juices/smoothies. read more

In Philly for the weekend, found this wonderful spot Nourish. Really nice place, lots of herbs and products in the front of the store. Keep seating off to the right side when you come in. The menu has so many choices, it was hard to pick out, of course in Philly so I had to try to Philly Jawn and it was smackin 10/10, the bread was toasted perfectly, the meat, the onions, the cheese sauce everything was delicious. The serving was huge and then I had a jackfruit patty my Gawd I want 10 of those right now. It was so good being vegan. I miss my patties. There was nothing I was missing in the Patti nothing 10 out of 10. Best mushroom coffee I've ever had 10 out of 10. I think we bought at least five bottles of it. The plantains were OK a little too mushy for my taste, but the flavor was great so 7.5 out of 10. Also had carrot cake which was delicious, it was moist good care of flavor, hemp, cinnamon, and nutmeg eight out of 10. I bought their Puri-tea and cleanse pills, I love the results of the cleanse feeling great with lots more energy and lost 10 lbs after a two week cleanse. My only complaint is that it was super large and hard to eat! I also had the hibiscus drink and it was delicious. Will be needing to come back! Ssshhhh! Don't tell anyone this, but Chinese and Japanese people have been eating enoki mushrooms since the dawn of time. Me, personally, I've eaten them for over 50 years, but I've never eaten them prepared this way. Fried enoki mushrooms have risen in popularity in recent years and restaurants have been making "fried chicken" sandwiches with them. A fellow yoga teacher turned me on to Nourish. He said that his friend ordered a chicken sandwich, thought it was the most delicious thing she ate, and the second time she ordered it, she finally realized it wasn't chicken. I can't say that fake chicken would really fool me as I've eaten my fair share of soy and seitan "meats." I can't say that Nourish's fried chicken tastes like chicken, either, but it's very good. I would even be fine ordering an enoki mushroom sandwich if it were called that :) The batter is really good. The sides are really good, too. I almost expected the mac n cheese to be doused in daiya cheese or some sort of nut-based cream sauce like other places, but it appears to be some variation of a butternut squash sauce. It's delicious. The sauteed kale was mixed with peppers and onions was very good. Nourish is in the heart of the Italian market, so parking won't be easy, but it's worth treating yourself to some good vegan comfort food here. read more

They have such interesting take on vegan food... we got the "Fried Chick'un sandwich" which is really a fried enoki mushroom sandwich with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and vegan sauce.
