I was in Philly for work, and luckily had a free night during a busy conference weekend. I was able to meet up with a local friend, and Vedge was an awesome vegan find. At first, I was worried we would only be able to get bar seating since neither of us put in a reservation. Luckily, the wait staff was able to seat us at a booth as long as we finished by 8pm---perfect! We weren't super hungry, but we were able to share one of the appetizers and get dishes for each of us. The appetizer we got was the rutabaga fondue, with pretzel bread and pickled veggies. It was an intriguing dish and the pickled veggies added an interesting tang. For my entree, I got the grilled tofu with kanzuri glaze, okinawa potato, sunchoke miso butter, fancy radishes, and shiso. The presentation was very much on point! I had high hopes for my meal here. I love vegetables. But I don't care for smoky flavors, and that seems to be a key characteristic of the menu. I enjoyed the spicy dan dan noodles, made with delicious mushrooms. Everything else was just fine or too smoky for my tastes. I had a really nice glass of wine with my meal. Delicious food and flavorful drinks. They never get it wrong here for me. Regular prices are pricy- so I don't personally come here a lot, but very classy presentation. Vedge really understands vegan food as an art form. They will release another cook book in November and I believe that you can pre-order it now. Some vegans may not like this place because of the small portions and a few things might remind them too much of meat but many others like myself do not mind that part at all. Staff is always very friendly here. Happy hour Specials cannot be taken to go unfortunately. The healthiest vegan cheesesteak I ever had with the fresh half medium cucumber. The same owners of Vedge attempted to start up Wiz Kid and this vegan cheesesteak was one of Wiz Kid's most classic items I believe. I never had a chance to try a piece of Wiz Kid until today. You still have two more happy hours left to try this treasure after the initial date of this review of September 10, 2025! Incredible experience for vegans and anyone who likes unique food! I had a Saturday night reservation for my friend's bachelorette party and the staff was incredible. They were totally booked so definitely recommend a reservation. There is no designated parking but there could be street parking if you're lucky, and there's garages nearby. My friends and I got the tasting menu which is really the way to go - it's a 6-8 course meal where you get to try all their best stuff. Do note that in order to do the tasting menu, everyone in your party has to do it- not sure I saw that on the website or menu, so that could be made more clear. All of the food is plant based and totally transformed like nothing you've ever seen before. I am a meat eater and thought everything was phenomenal - from presentation to variety to flavors, Vedge had it all. They also had an extensive drink menu with cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer, and spirits. I believe their tasting menu rotates seasonally so it's definitely a place you can return to and get something new. Shout out to the staff who made our bride feel extra special!! Amazing! This is a premier place in the city for a reason. What comes out of the kitchen is phenomenal! The rutabaga fondu is a delightful appetizer. It was served with a soft pretzel and pickles. Could have easily had 3 more orders of this. The stuffed avocado with crispy rice was a texture explosion. Oh my gosh! Delicious! I ordered the grilled tofu, and my dining partners ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the campfire carrot! Outstanding! Honestly, I can't imagine having this much talent and giftedness transforming beautiful fresh food into the flavor bombs that made it to our table. And the entire staff was wonderful! We were offered hangars for our coats, a seat at the bar while waiting for our table with service from a talented and friendly bartender (order the headbanger! So wonderful) and were seated at a cozy booth in the well designed comfortable converted row home. I would be absolutely remiss not to mention Joseph as our server. Calm, kind, 100 % knowledgeable of every dish that came to our table and so gentle when prompted for his "opinion" of dishes we were considering ordering. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and he delivered the most delicious gooseberry sorbet with a candle and made our night feel so special. Honestly, he was a star. And I must add, order the cheesecake. I think it has completely changed my longing for cheesecake forever, because the classic, made with non-vegan ingredients will forever pale in comparison to what I tasted last night. This is the fine dining place that serves 4 course menu with wine pairing. I had full satisfaction to continue my gourmet journey as vegan here, as hardly any vegetarian restaurants offer wine pairing, but Vedge did it, and did it really well. I loved the rutabaga fondu, creamy but not greasy. The soft pretzel is exceptional. Then the pickles added perfect amount of acidity. I think it's pretty unique, highly recommended. I picked charred squash and carrots as second and third course, as I wanted to try them with dry and heavy wine. The pairing was awesome. The interior of the restaurant is very charming, almost like you're walking into someone's home, with fireplaces and a homey kitchen. The servers were extremely attentive and let us take our time deciding what to get: We went with the portobello carpaccio (thinly sliced mushrooms, served cold), the rutabaga fondue (served with bread-like pretzel), and spicy Dan Dan noodles. I came here for a group dinner and we ordered at least 1 of everything off the menu to try, and everything was really good! I'm so surprised at how much I enjoyed every dish, since it's vegan! My favorites were the portobello mushroom carpaccio, so so good! Just as tasty as if it were meat. The fancy radish was also so good, and I'm not even a big fan of radish. The beets arepa was also a personal favorite of mine, really refreshing and tasty. My friends really liked the eggplant dish, which didn't even taste like eggplants to me. It looked like a sausage with textures of grains, tasty tho! The Dan Dan noodles had a nice kick to it, but this one did not standout as the rest of the other dishes we tried since it was the least unique. The desserts are also good! I recommend the cheesecake and the custard. All of the sorbets flavors are unique and are delicious as well! The service was friendly and good as well! Definitely worth a visit! I'm a failed/former vegan, and I've wanted to eat at Vedge for years. My mom is vegan, and since we were in Philly for a long weekend a week, I knew we had to have dinner at Vedge. The restaurant is beautiful (Tudor vibes with dark wood and gorgeous windows), and the service was fantastic. But it's all about the food, right? We shared: smoked portabella carpaccio (with caper vinaigrette, fennel remoulade, and nigella seeds); salt baked golden beets (with sauerkraut vinaigrette, crushed avocado, cucumber, dill, and seeds); charred delicata squash (with achiote adobo, peanut pipian verde, refried quinoa, and pepitas); spicy Dan Dan noodles (with Sichuan pepper, creamy sesame, black vinegar glazed trumpet mushrooms); romanesco "tagine" (with black lentil ful, spiced tomato broth, chermoula olive salad, and pistachio baharat); roasted lion's mane mushroom (with V1 steak sauce, smoked white bean salad, and horseradish); coconut panna cotta (with miso butterscotch, matcha crisp, and kumquate); and chocolate namalake (with ube marshmallow, purple sweet potato, and grapefruit). We had a couple glasses of wine (great variety by the glass on the menu) and coffee with the meal as well. Some of the dishes didn't totally hit the mark for us. The golden beets were a little boring, the romanesco cauliflower was very, very undercooked and underseasoned (which was really too bad because the other components of the dish - especially the lentils - were delicious), and the panna cotta wasn't very successful to me (the texture was more lumpy like tapioca pudding - less smooth and with the jiggle you want from a panna cotta). But there were some serious standouts as well: the smoked portabella carpaccio (that was a dish that delicious and made me very curious - how do they do that?!), roasted lion's mane mushroom (I've never eaten that mushroom in this way before!), charred delicata squash, Dan Dan noodles, and the chocolate namalake! All delicious and creative! Overall, the food was very good - so was the service. It was a joy to eat such creative, vegetable-forward vegan food in such a beautiful, upscale restaurant. After our meal, I can honestly say it was one of the best we have had in Philly. We ordered just about everything on the menu. Some dishes even 2-3 times, including the Dan Dan noodles!
