Wiz Kid Cheesesteak (Happy Hour special only)
    Stan H.

Delicious food and flavorful drinks. They never get it wrong here for me. Regular prices are pricy- so I don't personally come here a lot, but very classy presentation. Vedge really understands vegan food as an art form. They will release another cook book in November and I believe that you can pre-order it now. Some vegans may not like this place because of the small portions and a few things might remind them too much of meat but many others like myself do not mind that part at all. Staff is always very friendly here. Happy hour Specials cannot be taken to go unfortunately. The healthiest vegan cheesesteak I ever had with the fresh half medium cucumber. The same owners of Vedge attempted to start up Wiz Kid and this vegan cheesesteak was one of Wiz Kid's most classic items I believe. I never had a chance to try a piece of Wiz Kid until today. You still have two more happy hours left to try this treasure after the initial date of this review of September 10, 2025! My favorite vegan cheesesteak is Joe's personally still and some vegans might be afraid to go there because they do serve meat there too.

What I ate: Spicy Dan Dan noodles - chewy noodles, sesame sauce and spicy. Wish I had bread or rice to soak up the remaining sauce Mushroom carpaccio - thinly sliced mushrooms that pairs well with fennel curls Idk what the dessert name was but- but the peach crumble cake with caramel and sage ice cream is a must. Why you want to eat here: Service! Very responsive to allergies and questions on ingredients even before you dine there. Super accommodating from the start to the end. Very pleasant server. Fine dining Ambiance - low light so you can't read the menu if you have eye problems lol. One of the restrooms is ADA but I'm not sure how you can get up the front stairs....

WOW! Have been wanting to come again. They have a tasting menu that rotates monthly that you can get instead of a la carte options. They usually recommend 3 a la carte options per person which I feel was good (could get away with 1 less if ordering dessert too). Food came out quickly so is a fast dining experience especially if you do not order dessert. Also have alcoholic beverages and some non alcoholic options.

Incredible experience for vegans and anyone who likes unique food! I had a Saturday night reservation for my friend's bachelorette party and the staff was incredible. They were totally booked so definitely recommend a reservation. There is no designated parking but there could be street parking if you're lucky, and there's garages nearby. My friends and I got the tasting menu which is really the way to go - it's a 6-8 course meal where you get to try all their best stuff. Do note that in order to do the tasting menu, everyone in your party has to do it- not sure I saw that on the website or menu, so that could be made more clear. All of the food is plant based and totally transformed like nothing you've ever seen before. I am a meat eater and thought everything was phenomenal - from presentation to variety to flavors, Vedge had it all. They also had an extensive drink menu with cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer, and spirits. I believe their tasting menu rotates seasonally so it's definitely a place you can return to and get something new. Shout out to the staff who made our bride feel extra special!! Highly recommend this incredible Philly spot for anyone who wants a unique and tasty dining experience.

Terrific tastes at Vedge. Mushroom carpaccio, squash something, and choco dessert were lovely. But a soup spoon w the small dessert was a mismatch (details count). Nice vibe and delish!

Amazing! This is a premier place in the city for a reason. What comes out of the kitchen is phenomenal! The rutabaga fondu is a delightful appetizer. It was served with a soft pretzel and pickles. Could have easily had 3 more orders of this. The stuffed avocado with crispy rice was a texture explosion. Oh my gosh! Delicious! I ordered the grilled tofu, and my dining partners ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the campfire carrot! Outstanding! Honestly, I can't imagine having this much talent and giftedness transforming beautiful fresh food into the flavor bombs that made it to our table. And the entire staff was wonderful! We were offered hangars for our coats, a seat at the bar while waiting for our table with service from a talented and friendly bartender (order the headbanger! So wonderful) and were seated at a cozy booth in the well designed comfortable converted row home. I would be absolutely remiss not to mention Joseph as our server. Calm, kind, 100 % knowledgeable of every dish that came to our table and so gentle when prompted for his "opinion" of dishes we were considering ordering. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and he delivered the most delicious gooseberry sorbet with a candle and made our night feel so special. Honestly, he was a star. And I must add, order the cheesecake. I think it has completely changed my longing for cheesecake forever, because the classic, made with non-vegan ingredients will forever pale in comparison to what I tasted last night. This place does the Philly-food-scene so proud!

had the tasting menu. Literally a divine experience. My server was hilarious and quirky and brilliant. The food itself was astonishing and revelatory. And as a lifelong vegetarian/vegan, it was beyond heavenly to be able to just eat everything without having to think about it or worry. But that doesn't even really matter here. It's just beautiful food.

This is the fine dining place that serves 4 course menu with wine pairing. I had full satisfaction to continue my gourmet journey as vegan here, as hardly any vegetarian restaurants offer wine pairing, but Vedge did it, and did it really well. I loved the rutabaga fondu, creamy but not greasy. The soft pretzel is exceptional. Then the pickles added perfect amount of acidity. I think it's pretty unique, highly recommended. I picked charred squash and carrots as second and third course, as I wanted to try them with dry and heavy wine. The pairing was awesome. I had Ginny's freezer martini, which was the least sweet on the menu. Love the subtle taste, very nice! Services and ambiance are top notch. The waiter is very knowledgeable and patient. He went above and beyond to respond my inquiries on wine pairing. 5 + star!!

Where do I even begin... this is the kind of place where every bite is an explosion of taste. It's hard to put in into words - all I want to say is book a reservation immediately and prepare to be blown away. The fondue with the pretzel was the most convincing cheese I have ever tasted, and my non vegan boyfriend who has hated all vegan cheese agreed - he couldn't get enough. the ambiance, atmosphere... this place couldn't get any better and is definitely en route to a Michelin star. Congratulations to the entire team - I rarely leave a review but this place absolutely deserves 5 stars and more!! Side note, my boyfriend put in our res that it was a late Valentine's celebration and they gave us free heart cookies with sprinkles to celebrate the occasion, amazing service!

Dining at Vedge is always an elevated experience! The wait staff is always so professional and knowledgeable and the menu never disappoints! It's typically recommended to get 2-3 dishes per person but my partner and I did 3 dishes and 1 dessert and were very satisfied! The cocktails are delicious and light and all of the food is so beautifully prepared and bursting with a variety of flavors! Always a treat to go here!

@vedgephiladelphia is a vegetable-focused fine dining restaurant by James Beard-nominated chefs Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby. For us, it's the gold standard and pinnacle of Philly vegan fine dining -- every dish delights, every visit unforgettable. A must‑visit. We ordered à la carte, though they also offer a tasting menu. For drinks, we enjoyed Saratoga sparkling water, hubby had a Manhattan (extra cherry ), and I sipped the GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS -- gin, strawberry, fennel, vegan campari, and coconut milk. It tasted like a Pink Drink -- and it was divine. For dinner, we shared: RUTABAGA Fondue with today's soft pretzel & yesterday's pickles All of the CORN -- crisp hominy fritters, black pepper grits, esquites, and "birria" gravy Charred BROCCOLI Steak with low-country creamed turnip rice, horseradish butter, and turnip chow chow Spicy Dan Dan Noodles -- black vinegar glazed trumpet mushrooms, sesame, and mala pepper Blackened TOFU -- runner bean & okra étouffée, refried quinoa salad, and Tabasco vinaigrette Each dish delivered bold flavors and thoughtful textures, making it an unforgettable meal.

    Delectable Spicy Dan Dan Noodles

I had the most enjoyable time with a wonderful group of friends at Vedge. The food was the star of the show, from my spicy noodle to the squash and the roasted carrots accompanied by the tastiest of drinks. The service was ideal. Perfection all around, next visit I plan to try the tasting menu cause everything looked so good. Props to the chef!

Are there heaters outside for the outdoor dining?

I'm not vegan myself but a good friend is, lynch or dinner herer?

Either dude. I'm a carnivore and I like the food here. Lunch will prob be less expensive if that's a concern and get the rutabaga fondue. It's a must.

    Which items are organic?

not recalling that is notated......might need to call them. let us know if you find out???

Looks great! Are there any dishes that are NOT prepared with concentrated oils (olive, canola, palm, etc.) in them? This would include anything deep fried (in oil). I follow a Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB) diet and try to avoid concetrated oils.

Yes! My son-in-law recently had a serious heart attack and is following a strict plant-based diet that does not use oil of any sort. They were able to accommodate him with a delicious, satisfying meal.

The dining room is spacious, with +20 tables, and an open kitchen so you can watch the staff at work. Usually I call in takeout orders for pickup, but I have stayed for a meal (usually with friends). Friendly service. My favorites: - Roti Canai - this flaky appetizer is a crowd pleaser. And that savory curry sauce! - Kangkung Belacan - stir-fried greens with chili paste. I'm obsessed with them. They're seasonal, so you might not always be able to order them. - Taiwanese Chicken - tasty, with the right amount of soy sauce. - Thai Basil Noodles - drunken noodles! I was WOWED by the shrimp with lady fingers (okra), seamless service (reminiscent of a well-oiled machine), and an unexpectedly large interior. --- I dined as a party of two for lunch on Sunday. When we first entered, we were shocked at just how large the interior of Banana Leaf was as compared to the exterior. It is also decorated very fun inside. We ordered the mama's chicken, shrimp with lady fingers, and homemade roti canai. Just a note that the most updated menu is online instead of the photos here. (Also rice is not included with the entrées, but needs to be ordered separately.) (1) Shrimp with Lady Fingers- I would come back for just this again and again. It was not too salty, and it was very flavorful (just the right amount of fishy), and the okra was cooked just perfectly. I am a little bias as an okra fan, but I LOVED this dish. My only issue is that the shrimp wasn't deveined. (2) Homemade Roti Canai- The roti was very flaky and had an excellent texture. I guess it's no surprise that it's the biggest thing advertised on the menu. The curry was pretty standard that came with it. It was just a little strange to me that the roti canai was completely cold when it came out. (3) Mama's Chicken- The chicken was dry for us, probably as a result of the smaller pieces being fried. Overall, it was pretty OK, but we wouldn't order this again. The service was excellent- food was quick to come out & anytime we finished a dish, needed water, or needed the check, the servers were at the table before we had to say anything. Totally streamlined!

On this cold almost summer day, Nan Zhou was hustling and bustling. Separate parties at the same round table and clients coming in and out of the restaurant facade. Warm lighting and active banter. I received my bowl of beef noodle soup was pretty satisfied. Beef was tender with flavorful bites of fattiness. Somehow, the meat tastes beefier than beef. The cilantro had potent herbaceous flavor with some spinach(?) and mustard greens. Noodles were pleasantly chewy w variation in texture. Lowkey, everything else was alright. We came here around 1pm on a Sunday and ordered the mapo tofu with noodles, the house special…read morenoodle soup, and a shrimp stir fry. This place was packed, which is always a good sign, and even with that the staff stayed super prompt and professional. The house special was my favorite. I got it with the knife-cut noodles and it was perfect with the broth. The noodles had that slightly uneven, chewy texture that really holds onto the soup. I never thought I'd be the type to talk about "mouthfeel" but here we are. The broth itself was rich and savory with a deep beef flavor, a little bit of oil on top that adds body without feeling too heavy. It's that classic, comforting Chinese beef noodle soup done really well. I added a braised egg, which had great flavor soaked into it, though it was served cold, which threw me off a bit. The mapo tofu with noodles was also really solid. It had that signature spicy, numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with a savory, slightly salty sauce. The tofu was soft and silky, and mixing it with the noodles made it extra satisfying. It's got some heat but not overwhelming, just enough to keep you going back for another bite. The shrimp stir fry was lighter but still flavorful. The shrimp were cooked well, tender with a slight snap, and the sauce leaned more on the savory side with a mild sweetness. It felt like a nice balance alongside the heavier noodle dishes. Couple practical things: it's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the seating area which makes it easy. And the portions are generous for the price, so it feels like a really good deal. Overall, super satisfying spot. Busy, a little chaotic, but the food absolutely delivers. Definitely a go-to if you're craving hand-pulled noodles.
