First off parking was great. It's in a strip mall. Second seating was fast. Waited maybe 5 minutes. The service was impeccable and very impressive. Our server was Alik. He was at our every need and was always very polite and friendly. The food. Omg fall is in full swing now and so is their menu. I ordered the pumpkin waffles and ordered an apple mimosa. Bogo on the mimosas on the weekend. Wahoo! Who knew. My other half ordered the banana split waffle and omg it had ice cream on it. He said it was delicious. Looked it for sure. Lots of coffee and to go coffee to boot. Yes I highly recommend it. Also, get there early because it fills up fast. That line was out the door and around the building when we left.

We met a fellow traveler in RMNP. She recommended this restaurant in Estes Park. It did not disappoint. We had the sweetest server, Edith. She was attentive but just the right amount. She kept our iced tea filled and made sure we had everything we wanted. We both ordered The Day After Thanksgiving Sandwich. It was excellent! I think the Sweet Potato Fries may have outshined the sandwich though. They were the best we have ever had. It was tough choosing what to eat because everything looked fabulous! We would definitely eat here again.

Holy moly best breakfast spot i've been to in a long time. SO many yummy sounding things on the menu. Could've gone for breakfast there everyday on my vacation. Sooooo good. Everything was so delicious. It was super busy but only had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Workers were so nice. Hope to come back to Estes park to come back to this spot!!!

Lunch swing and a miss. We had high hopes for Notchtop - the concept is great and LOVE that there are vegetarian and vegan options (not just one item) - for that it gets 2 stars. Otherwise, we were mightily disappointed. Saturday, late June ~1pm - we were seated quickly enough. Took a while for the server to take our order (~10 minutes before she came for our drink order) and it took well over 45 minutes for our food to come out! They weren't particularly busy (lots of open tables) and there were a lot of servers. Maybe short staffed in the kitchen? Probably more disappointing than waiting so long was the food itself. Potato soup was "fine" but nothing special and way too much bacon. Three of us got side salads and every single one of us had warm lettuce. Not even room temperature - warm, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The turkey panini had way more mayo that should be allowed on a sandwich and the bread was barely toasted. We waited so long for our food we couldn't risk sending it back. As it was, we were there for so long we had to change our afternoon plans to go to RMNP because we rain out of time. Fortunately, we live only an hour away so we can go back. If you are looking to maximize your time in Estes I would not recommend Notchtop. Plenty of other options in Estes.

Classic breakfast

Its a busy place so getting seated in short time with a nearly full restaurant was a bit of luck. It took our waitress a bit to catch up and take the order but thats to be expected. The service was top notch with coffee refills a plenty. Ordered the classic breakfast and the colorado burrito. The burrito was not very hot and a bit skimpy on the green chili. The bacon on the classic breakfast was not crispy as ordered. All in all the service WAY outperformed the food on this one .

Menu, no pricing which irks me. I'd like to know how much something is before I buy it, call me crazy.

This was a very busy spot! But also, in a great area near the Stanley and other activities as well as lodging, so it tracks. We had a little bit of a wait upon arrival--nothing too long, so that was great. The only real issue we had was that there was no pricing for the brunch drinks. I don't think it's unfair to know the price of something before you purchase it, so I really dislike it when businesses choose to purposely exclude pricing. So, I simply asked the server how much a mimosa was, and she completely freaked out and started talking about other things, not answering my question, and said it was her first day. Ok, no problem, but still, how much is a mimosa? I mean, I'm not sure what that has to do with your first day; just say you'll go check, look in the computer, or ask a teammate and come back to me. Instead, she left and brought another server over with her, and he acted like he had no idea why he was there and said something about what I needed, and again, I repeated, I was just asking how much a mimosa was. He told me, and we could finally move on. What an ordeal for such a simple ask. If it was $15 - $20 for a little flute, I wasn't going to get one. It turned out the basic one was $9, so I was fine with that. I also thought it was very strange they served the oatmeal plain without asking if someone wanted sugar or honey -- how many people really eat oatmeal completely plain? Anyway, nothing to cause avoiding the place, or anything. Just another breakfast joint, in my opinion.

The two platters.

It was promising. Has good reviews. Busy spot. Fast service, seated without a wait.. Food was disappointing. We ordered A crispy chicken wrap and a turkey wrap. There was very little chicken and a lot of fluff on the chicken wrap with some orange things that someday would have been a tomato but not today. The turkey wrap had cold chewy coagulated bacon. Inedible. Fries were good. Hard pass on a return visit.

The food was fast and fresh and the portion size was great. The service was friendly even though they were very busy. The ambiance was relaxed and the patio seating is a delight.

Berries French Toast

Our go to breakfast spot in Estes Park. Note the number of locals in there when you visit to let you know it is good. Had the Cave Man Hash Bowl and my wife had the berries French toast. Both excellent. Service was friendly, fast and fair prices.

Cinnamon roll French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. Side of biscuit.

Great place for breakfast. Ordered the cinnamon roll French toast with scrambled eggs and three pieces of bacon. Side of biscuit. The French toast was so good. Not too sweet, didn't even need syrup with it. Fairly large portion, enough to share. They were very busy but we only waited 15 mins for two people. Very diner-like ambiance and friendly servers. Kept my coffee filled.

I've been coming to Notchtop for over 20 years and there is a reason for the line out the door! The food is always delicious and the ambiance is cozy with booths. They have a baked goods case with all the yummies from pie to cookies- they even offer many gluten free options! They have a bar with excellent breakfast drinks and this is a spot you can get everything you want! We had the chicken fried steak- so flavorful and such a big portion I only ate half and had the rest for lunch! The huns had the polish breakfast and enjoyed the unique polish latke. We split a pancake and had all the boxes checked- YUMMMMMM

If you are in Estes Park in the am Notchtop is the place to eat! I suggest sitting on the patio as it has a great view of the mountains above the parking lot. Bring a jacket or blanket depending on the time of the year but even if it is brisk it will be worth it. The space is cozy just like the mountains. The staff here try to make it happen. At other places a group can be daunting but here they try to make your group happen. It is busy but people are constantly getting up and coming in. Alex was our server and he made sure we were well taken care of. He suggested items, checked in often, made sure things came out in a timely fashion and even showed us photos. The food is so yummy. They have plenty of hot beverages from coffee to decaf to tea to hot apple cider to warm you up. Everyone enjoyed their food, the drinks and the view. We will definitely be back. Don't hesitate

Oh my goodness, when I tell you this is AMAZING, I mean amazing!! A really nice man served my family and I, and he was incredible. He even got me something that wasn't even on the list (A strawberry piña colada). This place fits perfectly with the peaceful atmosphere of Colorado--just making me feel so calm. I recommend this place 110%

It was that good the first time that we decided to come back and do it all over again the next day. Parking is somewhat limited, but we arrived early on weekday mornings and had no trouble finding a spot. The restaurant is charming from the outside, with a colorful "Greetings from Estes Park" old postcard mural that makes for a great photo opportunity. Inside, the atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and both days we were lucky enough to snag a window booth. Our first experience set the tone right away. We walked in just as a server was arriving for her shift. Noticing nobody was at the host stand, she seated us before even putting away her personal belongings. That's customer service. For breakfast, I ordered a special that I can't seem to find on the menu now--an Eggs Benedict with pulled pork. I debated swapping the greens for potatoes but decided to be healthy. To my surprise, the dish was served on crispy potato pancakes instead of an English muffin, which meant I got the best of both worlds. The combination was fantastic, and honestly, I think Eggs Benedict works even better on potato pancakes than on bread. Every bite was packed with flavor. The next morning, I made myself try something different, even though I was tempted to order the same thing again. I chose the Cambridge Skillet: smoked ham and bacon with jack and cheddar cheeses over seasoned ranch potatoes, topped with two over-easy eggs and creamy hollandaise. It was delicious and hearty, although my first day's breakfast still edged it out as my favorite. I also sampled my friend's whole wheat blueberry pancake. It was enormous and surprisingly flavorful. I especially appreciated that many of their sweeter breakfast options come with eggs and a choice of bacon or sausage. It's a nice balance and makes for a more satisfying meal. The food, service, and atmosphere were consistently excellent on both visits. The Egg of Estes quickly became one of our favorite breakfast spots in Estes Park, and it's definitely somewhere we'll return on future trips.

My daughter enjoyed her Vive La France French Toast as well. Our waitress was very friendly and had good timing - there were no long waits for her to reappear, as sometimes happens elsewhere. There was a little snafu - if I hadn't been paying attention, I'd have paid someone else's bill, almost 4X ours - but clearly it was an honest mistake and it's no harm, no foul. The comfort plate was a tender steak smothered in mushroom gravy with real mashed potatoes and sautéed squash, which was perfect on a cool Colorado evening. The kids' burger and fries were a hit too. A rich hot drink topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle was the perfect finish. Prices are fair for a tourist town, with burgers around $17-22 and appetizers in the low to mid teens. Easily a 5-star experience and highly recommended. We booked a 6:00 p.m. Sunday reservation through Resy and were seated immediately. The restaurant was very busy, which felt like a good sign. One thing to note: parking is VERY difficult. You may need to park kitty-corner at the grocery store lot and walk across. We started with the Beets & Bibb salad, which was outstanding--fresh, thinly sliced crunchy beets, crisp dried chickpeas for texture, grapes for sweetness, and a honey vinaigrette with just enough acidity to balance everything. The cornbread arrived warm and freshly baked with black garlic butter. It was light rather than dense and very enjoyable. For an entrée, the Carnivore was excellent. Both the elk and petite filet had a beautiful sear and were cooked perfectly to temperature, accompanied by a flavorful reduction and seared broccolini. Our second entrée was the trout with a side petite filet. The fish was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. By the end of dinner we were far too full to try the desserts, although they looked tempting. We also had a couple of cocktails--strong, flavorful pours. Our server, Ian, was friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout the evening. Excellent service despite how busy the restaurant was. Overall, Bird & Jim delivered great food, great drinks, and great service. Highly recommended--5 stars.
