There is plenty of parking and a large seating area in both the bar and the main restaurant. On our second visit we had time for a proper sit down breakfast. Edith was our server and she was delightful. We ordered coffee, cappuccino, build your own omelette, and eggs benedict. The cappuccino was perfect. Edith kept the coffe cup full and served us waters. The BYO Omelette was large and served with home fried potatoes and sourdough toast. Too much to eat! The eggs benedict was wonderful and I loved the hollandaise sauce as well as the tasty ham. It too came with home fried potatoes. If your a local, you are lucky to make this a regular eating spot. If you are a traveler, make sure you stop by and give them a try.

I ordered the Rocky Mountain Trout & Eggs for $18.69, which came with fresh Rocky Mountain trout, two eggs any style, home-fried potatoes, and toast. I got my eggs over medium. The trout tasted fresh, but overall I found the dish pretty bland and just kind of meh. There were also quite a few bones in the fish, which made it a little annoying to eat. I'd probably give the dish itself a generous 3/5. It was definitely filling, though. Between the whole trout, two eggs, fried potatoes, and toast, it was a lot of food after the hike. Others at the table ordered the Harvest Panini with turkey, bacon, sliced apples, honey, cheddar, sourdough, and sweet potato fries, as well as what I believe was the Castle Rock Chicken Sandwich with chicken, lettuce, tomato, pesto mayo, avocado, bacon, and provolone on a brioche bun. One person didn't eat avocado, so I was the lucky winner there. I didn't really get a chance to try the other dishes beyond a few sweet potato fries because I was busy working through my own meal. We originally sat outside on the patio, but it started raining, so we moved inside. Unfortunately, once we were indoors, there were quite a few flies around us and our food, which was pretty distracting and definitely brought the experience down a bit. Overall, Notchtop did hit the spot after a tiring hike, and the food seemed fresh and hearty, but my trout dish itself was only okay and the flies inside were a noticeable negative. Apparently, the restaurant is named after Notchtop Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park, which is a pretty fitting name for a place in Estes Park. The restaurant is charming from the outside, with a colorful "Greetings from Estes Park" old postcard mural that makes for a great photo opportunity. Inside, the atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and both days we were lucky enough to snag a window booth. Our first experience set the tone right away. We walked in just as a server was arriving for her shift. Noticing nobody was at the host stand, she seated us before even putting away her personal belongings. That's customer service. For breakfast, I ordered a special that I can't seem to find on the menu now--an Eggs Benedict with pulled pork. I debated swapping the greens for potatoes but decided to be healthy. To my surprise, the dish was served on crispy potato pancakes instead of an English muffin, which meant I got the best of both worlds. The combination was fantastic, and honestly, I think Eggs Benedict works even better on potato pancakes than on bread. Every bite was packed with flavor. The next morning, I made myself try something different, even though I was tempted to order the same thing again. I chose the Cambridge Skillet: smoked ham and bacon with jack and cheddar cheeses over seasoned ranch potatoes, topped with two over-easy eggs and creamy hollandaise. It was delicious and hearty, although my first day's breakfast still edged it out as my favorite. I also sampled my friend's whole wheat blueberry pancake. It was enormous and surprisingly flavorful. I especially appreciated that many of their sweeter breakfast options come with eggs and a choice of bacon or sausage. It's a nice balance and makes for a more satisfying meal. The food, service, and atmosphere were consistently excellent on both visits. The Egg of Estes quickly became one of our favorite breakfast spots in Estes Park, and it's definitely somewhere we'll return on future trips.

We got the Smoked Old Fashioned with applewood and the Bramble w/ tequila and lime. This was hands down the best food we had in Estes Park. We shared the Bistro Salad, the Three Sisters, and the Cod dish. OMG!!! The food was SOOOOO GOOOD!!!! Everything was flavorful, balanced, and well prepared. I highly recommend you eat here.
