Conserving the price for 2 slices ended up being $13, yikes. I don't get the hype. The counter girl couldn't answer any of my questions related to the ingredients, besides "it's really good." We grabbed takeout pie from this spot. We tried the apple, peanut butter, and s'mores pies. The apple was good, but not as much cinnamon as I usually enjoy. The s'mores pie was relatively simple. The turkey Pot pie is the best I have ever eaten. The crust was heavenly. The pie is Devine. I had the Chocolate Peanut Butter . Wow, that is pie. Service was outstanding and friendly. My daughter and I grabbed some take-out from here for dinner early last month and it was a decent experience. We ordered our food and waited about 10-15 minutes, which was good considering how busy they were. I ordered the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and my daughter ordered a veggie burrito with a side of fruit. The chicken fried steak was good but was thin and not a big portion that you expect when ordering a chicken fried steak, and the amount of scrambled eggs was kind of a joke, (see my pics). My daughter liked her burrito but again, it was small. It looks like they cut it in half and we got one half. For the prices they charge, I expected to get a bit more food than what we got. I was looking at the pie's and one slice was almost $7. I absolutely love pie but I couldn't bring myself to paying that much for one slice. What a find! We love pie- and actually are pie judges for the American Pie Council. This restaurant takes 1st place. We shared a chicken pot pie for dinner, and the portion size was large enough that we had leftovers for breakfast. We followed that with chocolate peanut butter pie- and what a delight. Update: our youngest started vomiting on the way home a few hours after eating here and has been doing so ever since - it's been 24 hours, she has been vomiting all night. All symptoms point to food poisoning. We will not be back. This was our first visit to You Need Pie. What we liked: Our waiter was really hospitable, friendly, and did his best to provide service in a timely way despite being the only server available for all the customers. The coffee was decent, though in a small mug, and so was the hot chocolate we orders for the kids (which came with whipped cream, much to their delight!). The decor on the walls felt kind of scanty but what is there was cute. There is a pretty wide pie selection. Food serving sizes were okay. The single person bathroom was clean. What we didn't like: *The $2 veg add-ins of onion and jalapeños to the $12 omelette were raw. *The corned beef hash was extremely basic and barely seasoned, the potatoes were well cooked but bland and pale. It was edible but not worth $15. *Our party ordered a $9 bread bowl soup and waffle fries as well; it was eaten but the cheese ingredient was really overpowering in flavor - the small size was a good thing, in this case, because otherwise it couldn't have been finished. *The batter on the chicken tenders in the kid's meal were almost burnt on the edges, but still pale everywhere else. Something off with the oil temperature I guess. They didn't get eaten. *The color of everything was pretty much all beige and served on white plates, which impacted the impression of the meal - zero visual appeal. One of my favorite parts of eating at mom-and-pop diners is the way the meals feel homey, warming you from the inside out. This did not create that kind of impression. Lastly, the pie (which was the main draw for us and why we picked this dining option). We ordered one slice of rhubarb at $6.25. The pie was very disappointing - something in it was either stale or had gone bad. It tasted really unpleasant and we ended up throwing it away. Fun, lively restaurant with an 'oldies' theme. We stopped in just for dessert, a yummy piece of pie. I chose blueberry and peach pie and husband had s'more pie. We both liked our choices very much. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Their patio was cozy but a little too chilly for us so we took a table inside and listened to Elvis and other oldies music. Service was great. Servers were hustling back and forth to ensure speedy ordering and delivery of food. Their menu has funny ways of describing their options so take some time to find them and enjoy their humor. We might need pie, but we probably don't need this pie again. Not wanting one of the fruit varieties, we each had a slice of the s'mores pie. Slices were small, and they were really just a firm chocolate pudding with mini marshmallows on top. Nothing about it really tasted like s'mores, and shouldn't a s'mores pie be served hot or at least the marshmallows have a char to them? The mango key lime pie was outstanding-I loved the graham cracker crust, the tanginess of the key limes, and the small tastes of the sweet mango. I found the chocolate peanut butter pie to have too much cream on the top which overwhelmed the chocolate and peanut butter, and the crust to have a subpar texture. I would suggest to You Need Pie that they get rid of their "Straight Outta the Oven" merchandise. We went to this diner based on their website. They advertised a very enticing number of flavorful pies. We arrived around 5 PM on a Saturday, so I am sure people had been in and out all day long. It was a hearty meal due to the large volume of potatoes in the filling. We were too full to consume our pie that evening . We ended up taking home five slices of pie. Two slices of apple for our granddaughter one slice of chocolate pecan for- hubby, and I to share - one slice of apple for the hubby and a slice of peach rhubarb for me. All the pies were tasty., To me the crust was not delicate, but it was flavorful. Apple was the top pick of everybody.(yes, we all tasted each other's pies.) This eatery was located in a large shopping center with adequate parking spaces. My wife and I ate here twice. We ate grilled liver one night and meat loaf another night. The sides that we ate were steamed veggies, mashed potato, and shaved brussel spouts. We also had a raspberry rhubarb pie. The liver was tender, but was not seasoned. It needed salt and black pepper.
