I came here with a friend who recommended this place, saying it was consistently good. We were able to be seated right away. The inside is a little dark, has a bar, and plenty of seating, including booths. The service was friendly too. They asked about any allergies in the beginning, which I always like to see even though I don't have any serious allergies. The menu is very diverse, so there is definitely something for everyone. I ordered the Super Crunch salad and my friend got the BBQ Meatloaf. I loved that the salad chopped and had a lt of unique ingredients. My friend loved her meatloaf, and we were both impressed by the size of the carrots that came with it! I would be remiss if I did not post a 5 star review for Not Your Average Joe's in Glen Mills following our recent visit. Put simply, our lunch was like winning the trifecta. The sandwich/salad specials were deliciously crafted, the price was a great value, and most impressive was the courteous and professional service extended by a very likable young lady named Troi ( she said we can call her "T" ). She provided targeted recommendations based on our preferences. She was attentive, but not overly so, and a pleasure to engage with. Whoever was responsible for the hiring and training of Troi did an exemplary job. Next time we are in the Glen Mills area we will be returning for the food and the service. read more

1 star The only positive thing I can say about our experience at Not Your Average Joe's in Glen Mills is that we were greeted immediately by the host and seated quickly. Unfortunately, that was about where the good experience ended. After waiting several minutes, our server came over to take our drink order. When the drinks arrived, she had forgotten the bread service that is to be brought out upon greeting the table. We reminded her, and after another several minutes, she finally brought it out. We then ordered our food. I ordered a cheeseburger, and my girlfriend ordered a Caesar salad. When our food came out, it was brought by the manager, and my burger was completely wrong. It had lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and everything else that wasn't supposed to be on it but somehow no cheese, despite the fact that I ordered a cheeseburger. I told the manager that it wasn't what I ordered. He took the burger back, removed the toppings, put two cold slices of American cheese on it, and brought it back to the table. At that point my girlfriend had already finished her food, and I wasn't going to eat it. What made the situation even worse was that nobody came back to our table for roughly 30 minutes. I eventually had to get someone's attention and ask for the burger to be taken off the bill because I wasn't going to eat it. Thankfully, they did remove the burger. Despite everything that happened, there was no apology from either the manager or our server. Not even a simple acknowledgment that the order had been messed up and the situation had been handled poorly. We were still charged $4 per soda, even though neither drink had been refilled since before our food even arrived. I paid for my girlfriend's meal and both drinks, but by that point the entire mood of the night had been ruined. Mistakes happen at restaurants. What really bothered me was the lack of attention, the poor attempt to fix the food, the 30-minute wait while my untouched meal sat in front of me, and especially the complete lack of apology or concern from management. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend Not Your Average Joe's in Glen Mills. There are plenty of restaurants where you can spend your money and at least feel like the staff cares when something goes wrong. This was not one of them. read more

Staff wasn't happy or even inviting, then proceeded to sit a family by the bar on a high top table where the seating doesn't even match the table height. Or course the light above us was not working either (Edison Bulbs everywhere so it not that easy to read your menus) server was good the half the meal then we had to send a entree back cause was not what we ordered, since that the ball was dropped for the rest of the meal. Haven't been to NYAJ for almost 6 months and love the new menu. The garlic/onion bread with the garlic parm olive oil dip is ALWAYS awesome. Tried the new meatball calzone and the beef noodle bowl and both were excellent. If you haven't been in a while---worth a trip. If you've never been--- diverse menu with many options for ant nutrition plan! Today, we made a reservation to sit outside and were not told we could NOT sit outside until we arrived. that's the whole reason we wanted to go out to dinner- feel like it should've been told or we shouldn't have been allowed to choose outside online. We were there for only about 30 minutes. Things felt rushed by our server and she was not attentive from the beginning. When it came time to pay, we payed online and tipped 1. What she deserved, and 2. What we could afford. Our waitress made a very rude remark about how much we paid. Unprofessional , uncalled for, and insensitive. It would really be something if this restaurant would use accurate photos on their menu. They show pictures of their food on the gluten free menu which you can't help but use when considering gf options. Then when the food arrives it is clear that you didn't receive the pasta type that they show in their own photos. Example: the gf chicken piccata is shown with linguine pasta but what you really get is mini corkscrew pasta rather than what is shown on their menu page. Also, none of the gf menu options list any pasta type. All the descriptions say is "gluten free pasta included" while you're staring at linguine in their photos. With that in mind, what would you think you were ordering with that vague description and a photo of linguine? Im guessing you would infer that what you're ordering is linguine based on their photo. Would it kill them to use Barilla gf linguine like we do at home? It's cheap and tastes like the non gf pasta and when Im paying $28 for chicken piccata I think that I should get a choice of pasta. Service - Waitress was polite but a bit awkward, food came out in okay time considering it was crowded. Meal - The bread was delicious but slightly doughy, the garlic/olive oil dip was very garlicky, you have to love garlic to enjoy it. Caesar salad was delicious, very fresh, though the croutons were VERY crunchy, too crunchy. The buffalo chicken pizza was also superb, the chicken was flavored nicely though the crust was mediocre. It's a bit pricey, but significantly better than your otherwise average American chain restaurant. What I really like about this location is that they're family friendly and allergy aware. The interior is rustic, cozy, and spacious. The menu has options for picky young eaters. The servers ask about food allergies and will double check the menu if needed. (Obviously those with severe allergies must always be wary, but in my case, it's just confirming that a dish doesn't contain the ingredient itself.) Overall, this is a good spot for parents to have a nice meal out with kids in tow. Everything that I had was pretty good, from French onion soup to chicken nuggets to a burger. Our waitress (Taylor I) was so nice, she answered any questions we had, she was always there when we needed her, and she kept the drink refills coming. The food was absolutely delicious! I love Not Your Average Joe's! I've been to other locations and this one holds up in terms of food quality and service. I love the chicken dumplings, ahi tuna appetizer, and their chicken caesar salad! Tables are distanced and all employees were wearing masks. They also have a covered outdoor seating section. When you enter the restaurant, they ask for your phone number for contact tracing purposes. One small note is that they've reduced their menu since COVID. At this time they don't have a separate gluten free menu and they also removed some various dishes (for example, the ahi tuna bowl and the Brussel sprouts side). We left here calling this Average Joe's. Nothing that was served was above average except maybe the Arnold Palmer. The focaccia bread that came with garlic butter was okay, and somehow the butter smelled good but barely tasted like anything. We ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls and asked for the "spicy" mustard on the side. Bf said the mustard just tasted like regular yellow mustard and not spicy. They came out with mustard all over the plate, so I only ate one piece since I don't like mustard and only one piece was spared. One piece was plenty and I think cheesesteak egg rolls was very misleading, you could see meat, but you could only taste cheese and onions. These could definitely not compared to the ones at Stinger's Waterfront in Ridley; those are like the best cheesesteak egg rolls around. It was busy, so we didn't bother sending them back because of the mustard. And we split the shrimp scampi pizza. The pizza wasn't bad, the dough was nice and there was an actual garlic flavor. There could have been more cheese, but it wasn't the worst. Bf isn't a huge fan of white pizza, so he did ask for a side of marinara sauce, and that just tasted like plain tomato sauce from a can. He mixed it with the rest of the garlic butter to add some flavor We ordered a pitcher of the seasonal sangria and it was fine, nothing special, but still better than something you would get from Applebees. It was a little funny that the only fruit was a partial apple slice in each glass. Usually the fruit is my favorite part of a sangria. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer and that was my favorite thing.
