Nel's is such a cute spot! Very spacious, great desert options. We came to get ice cream on a ni e Sunday afternoon, and everything was delicious! I will be back to try other snacks. The only thing I would add is a more exciting and joyous greeting for customers as they enter the store. Something like. "Welcome to Sweet Nel's where every scoop is made with LOVE!!!! Wow! So glad we tried Sweet Nel's...Super cute shop! What I've come to write about is the hot fudge. By far the best hot fudge I have ever had, I think I saw the sauces are homemade..I will surely back to smother something in that hot fudge again! read more

Wanted to try this place because my wife loves ice cream. I wasn't in the mood for ice cream so I got a strawberry banana smoothie. The employee asked if I wanted and "sweetener" which I thought was odd because a smoothie can be sweet on its own. But I asked for honey and safe to say it tased like the opposite of honey, let alone a strawberry banana smoothie. Wawa makes better smoothies than this. On the bright side, my wife got the chocolate brownie and she liked it so I guess they're alright. The place is nice and spacious and definitely a place to come and enjoy some ice cream. Just not smoothies. read more

Sweet Nel's was AWESOME! This eatery has some unique features. For one, the interior is large, it has a lounge area, at the front, plenty of outdoor seating, and they give you a mini scoop, of any flavor.... on top of your selection....for free. A VERY NICE TOUCH. I've been to hundreds of sweet shops..... NONE do the mini scoop. That's on top of large portions, which were greatly appreciated. The selections of ice cream and gelato are huge and their staff are very friendly, patient, and quick to serve. You will definitely enjoy your visit to Sweet Nel's and enjoy their uniqueness. read more

Very good quality, fresh and creamy ice cream. We are from a bit more down south and it has been a struggle to find fresh, creamy ice cream around here (big preference for soft serve and water ice around these parts). This stuff is legit. Two things that could be improved: the scoop sizes are small and the spoons are cruddy quality, they bend and snap very easily. The photo is of a large, four scoops at $9. Ice cream seems to be expensive around here in general, so it's not exorbitant, but bigger scoops would be better. First time we went here I got a size small and was so disappointed by how small the size was (they do not have medium - only small or large) Aside from ice cream: the place is very nice. Great ambience. It's a joint ice cream/cafe and they serve colombe coffee - which is legit stuff. We haven't tried their coffee but it's likely good, because colombe coffee is excellent. read more

We've visited Nel's a few times now and have always loved whatever it is we've ordered. Coffee? Yes! Affogato? Yes! Gelato? Yes! Crepe? Yes! The people behind the counter are happy, patient, and helpful, which is necessary due to the amount of ice cream and other options they have. We'll be back to try the waffles, açaí bowls, and breakfast sandwiches. Love Nel's! read more

Came in after visiting Hagley on a rainy day. We purchased an array of food and drinks: cinnamon bun crepes, waffles with fresh fruit, mango sorbet, baklava and espresso chip gelato, spinach pies, a cappuccino, and a latte. The consensus: The food was great! We enjoyed everything we ordered. One comment about the mango sorbet was that it didn't really taste like mango, but other than that, everything received positive praise. We however we're not super fans of their coffee. The iced vanilla latte had too much vanilla syrup (we received it all separated) and didn't have a strong espresso taste. The cappuccino was described as "just okay" which is okay! Will be back for their yummy food again! read more

They have a NO SAMPLE rule. Not sure who the Greek god of ice cream is, but I'm surprised he hasn't struck this place down in a fiery rage. That's ice cream 101. Ice cream was great though. Set the sample limit at 1-2 and I'll come back in a heartbeat. Otherwise, I won't be back out of principle. And I spend A LOT of money on ice cream! read more

Big crepe that's good enough to share! We got the blueberry, strawberry, banana with nutella crepe. It came out quickly and was stuffed with fruit. It was not too sweet and there was no extra cream which was nice as it would've been too sweet if they added an extra ingredient. Outdoor seating as well as indoors. Will definitely be back! Their ice cream looks good too. read more

Came here for gelato specifically. Had a craving for it and they had several choices! If you're not into it they also have sorbet which is dairy free and other ice cream options which topping choices. I settled on lemon pie which looked like it had pieces of lemon cake swirled in. Also topped it with sea salt caramel. YUM. I chose a single thinking it meant one scoop, but I guess it doesn't. I really just wanted a taste so if you are like me they have a kids size as well. My friend was with me and just got a brownie. Unfortunately that was not as good. A little hard and not as oooey gooey as he hoped for. Overall I would go back. It was a nice place to sit and people watch and the music selection was good. It does start to get busy after 6, just an FYI. read more

This is my second review of sweet nel's and it was just as great as the last visit! Because of the fact that I already reviewed this place in detail I am going to keep it short and simple. The ice cream quality is very high. I got the Grand Slam which is by far my favorite flavor, it's a must try! The Service here was very friendly and super helpful. I want to come back and try there espresso! read more

A first at Sweet Nel's and it did not disappoint! The options were AHMAZING and my eyes were so much bigger than my stomach! I ended up snagging some scoops and got a double scoop of the baklava gelato and stracciatella gelato. I don't know if it's just me but I can never find stracciatella almost anywhere nowadays. The cashiers were little ice cream angels who were too sweet and I know I'll be back for my sweet treat needs. read more

I'm just here to say that I gotta give love to a place in Delaware serving the LaColombe coffee that I love. That's the only reason I came here. I wanted a coffee while driving up 202 and didn't want Starbucks. I got really happy when I saw LaColombe coffee. I'm impressed by this place. I'll drive back down to try something else sometime. Crepes and ice cream are a big draw for me. read more

This is One of the best places, Love their smoothies and crêpes before hitting the movies. Great spot

First time there It was busy Only had 2 working They could've used at least 3-4 With all the business coming in. We ordered 3 honey butter crepes really good And gelato it was good Tasted more like ice cream It was ok. We wanted to get ice blend coffee Supposedly neither 2 knew how to make them (?). Find that odd if it's on the menu you make them for customers. Instead we where told couldn't They didn't know too (?). Yes it was busy Only two working They didn't have say what they said The inside was open and wide Seating for the most and outside. Would recommend if anyone likes crepes especially Out of everything they where the best. read more

It's been awhile! My family and friends and I used to come here all the time and since I'm heading off to college soon we thought we had to once more It was great as always! Their prices have risen a bit but I still feel like you get a good amount of ice cream If you come here definitely get the single (it's 2 scoops) That's plenty for me lol and comes to about $4.50 My definite favorite and all time go to is the Graham Slam! If you've never been, something that makes this place unique is their "Nellies" which is a mini scoop of ice cream they put on top your order of a different flavor I got the graham slam with a butter pecan nellie on top I love the vibe of this place and they always have the most friendly staff! read more

Great ice cream and 5 stars for the supper helpful staff. I got the chocolate marshmallow and banana Pb and loved them both. My parents got the brownie sundae which was good as well. Also, it's not as sweet as other places which is good because most places leave me with feeling like I got diabetes but this place was just the right amount of sweet and fresh. Also love the concept of the "nellie". Sad that you aren't able to try flavors though. Would def come back again and again this summer. read more

So freaking yummy!!! Good selections. Staff were super helpful since it was our first time.

I am so loyal to the acaii bowls and the crepes here. They're AWESOME. The lattes are pretty good too always appreciate when they offer plant based options. It's a cute hangout spot. I also enjoy their hours of operation. read more

I'm just here to respond to the moron expecting a Starbucks. A coffee shop isn't a place to get fancy coffee; a coffee shop is a place like Mel's on Alice. It's a place to get a cup of coffee and a slice of pie, or maybe a a soup and a half a sandwich. Take that one star rating from that "elite" Yelper and stuff it where the sun don't shine. Also, kiss my grits. read more

So whenever I searched coffee shop near me this place would pop up. It does say coffee in big bold letters on the outside of their store. However, if you're a coffee connoisseur this is definitely not the place for you. I ordered a macchiato they had no idea what it was. It's not on the menu nor is a cortado. So I went with a shot of espresso with a splash of hot milk. It was quite flavor less. I don't think an espresso bean or dark bean was used to make the espresso. There was no whip or froth to the milk and definitely no decoration. Let's call this what it is an ice cream, gelato, crêpe shop. This is not a coffee shop. Yes they serve coffee but in my opinion it's not a coffee shop. There are many places that serve coffee that are not coffee shops. You will not get the coffee you're looking for here unless you're used to getting a 7-Eleven black coffee. If you like a lot of sugar then this is the place for you. I did see some of their crêpes and they looked amazing. They have hundreds of different flavors of ice cream and gelato's or so it seemed. I'm giving them a one star based strictly on the fact that they're advertising themselves as a coffee shop on yelp and on their storefront when they are clearly are NOT a coffee shop. In addition there handicapped door opener is not working. So if you're a handicapped individual that needs help with the door being opened forget coming here. read more

This place is super cute! They have a bunch of flavors to choose from including some gelato selections! I love how they give a "nellie" on top of whatever you order. It's a small scoop of an additional flavor on top of your ice cream, and it's free! Such a good idea read more

First time here and I had such a lovely experience. Inside was so clean and visually appealing. My coworkers and I worked a long day and we were ready for a sweet reward. We walked in 10 mins to closing not realizing their hours. Walking in any business near close is risky as the employees are usually checked out and your options can be limited. This was NOT the case here.... Isabella and Hunter treated us all with such respect and were so helpful! I had a hard time picking an ice cream flavor since there were so many great options, and they both did everything they could to describe each flavor and help me decide. The flavors I picked were SOOOOO GOOD, some of the best gelato I've ever had! Very thankful to Isabella and Hunter for making our experience so great. 10/10 recommend!! read more

Staff works hard enough hence the 3 stars. Place was pretty dirty... Like the Nellies dollop of extra ice cream... One thing that really upset me was while I was waiting for my cappuccino some dude who looked like maybe the owner or manager jumped in front of the person making my coffee and made his own espresso!! RUDE-UNPROFESSIONAL-PRIVILEGED NEVER AGAIN!! read more

Love this place! It's got parking right outside. Some lounge seating and tables inside with a TV. There's ice cream, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, waffles and crepes. Their ice cream is awesome with gelato and regular ice cream with tons of flavors! Staff is nice and service is quick! read more

The hours of operation state they are open until 9:30pm. The hours on the door also say 9:30. There are customers inside and the doors were locked at 8:55pm. We drove over 15 minutes to get this ice cream and their response was they had to close early on Monday. We would have bought the ice cream and left the store before the people inside even finished eating their ice cream... this is quite terrible service and not the way to run a successful business. read more

Gelato was so yummy. They have a tea option on their menu but seem to not have it when it was ordered. Was a confusion on that. Had to go back and fourth on what else to get since they didn't tell us it wasn't an option until after we already paid for it. Nothing was AMAZING but still very delicious iced mocha was okay. I'm ridiculously indecisive about pretty much everything, but choosing ice cream flavors seems to be one of the most difficult decisions for me to make --- it's so hard to choose just one when all of them are so delicious! That's why I LOVE the concept of the "Nellie" --- an extra mini scoop of ice cream of any flavor on top of your main flavor choice as offered at Sweet Nel's. They offer a wide variety of ice cream flavors, from the standard vanilla, chocolate, and chocolate chip cookie dough all the way to more unique flavors like cinnamon caramel swirl, banana peanut butter chip, and cotton candy. The single portions are huge and I have yet to try a flavor I didn't like. Additionally, they have about a dozen flavors of gelato that are pretty good as well (it's no Italian gelato, but really nothing in the US compares). Last night, I tried a "single" gelato ($4.50) with half sea salt caramel and half hazelnut with a vanilla stracchiatella Nellie scoop --- and it was delicious and way more than I was able to finish. I also appreciate the extensive seating options --- comfy armchairs, tables of different sizes, barstools and counter, or even outdoor tables --- and the fact that you can linger for hours to study or catch up with a friend. I have yet to go for coffee or breakfast, though I have been meaning to try their crepes --- next time! read more

Sweet Nel's has a ton of ice cream flavors, which I really appreciate. They even give you an extra "mini scoop" for free on top of your ice cream to allow you to try another flavor. Four stars because it's pretty pricy-- it was an extra $1.50 for hot fudge. I'll have to stop by another time to try their coffee in the morning! read more

I feel bad leaving a negative review, but when you leave your store in the hands of teenagers that don't care, things like this happen. We went there to celebrate a milestone for one of my children. The staff was rude. We ordered a cookie and a crepe. The strawberry, banana and Nutella crepe was made with chocolate syrup instead of Nutella. There was no silverware in the store. Who eats a crepe with a spoon. If you are out of so many items, just be honest and communicate. We could have chosen a different item. Sweet Nel's - A crepe drenched in chocolate milk syrup - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Wilmington, Delaware

A pleasant deviation from the typical Starbucks run, Sweet Nel's offers a comfortable environment and a wide variety of menu offerings for a reasonable price; however, my review also reflects some concerns left by other Yelpers, in that their service is friendly, albeit slow and careless. The crepes were delicious, and I would 100% recommend them; the coffee was also good, with higher quality and at a lower cost than local chains Breakdown: Coffee is smooth and bold, with traditional options and a bar to modify your drink to your liking. My sister-in-law ordered a breakfast crepe, which tasted pretty good-with fresh bananas, light and thin dough, powdered sugar, and a chocolate drizzle on top. Unfortunately, the staff forgot to make my sandwich and remembered only after both the other food came out and I called it to their attention. There were only a couple of guests in the restaurant and the staff was focused on speaking to each other, such that there was no excuse to make the error. The sandwich itself was okay, not great. The muffin and turkey sausage was soggy and tasted as if it came out of the microwave minutes before. Overall, the sandwich lacked spice and texture, similar to the sandwiches offered at Starbucks or a similar big-box chain. read more
