This little bakery is amazing. The folks who own/run it are awesome. I go every Sunday morning and get a hot loaf of sourdough bread, so damn good. While I'm there I can't resist their cheese danish, hands down the best danish I have ever eaten. They also have fresh made tomato pie which is delicious , it tastes like dipping your bread in your grandma's Sunday sauce. I almost don't want to post this , and keep this wonderful place as a secret. If you get the chance , go here , you will not regret it. read more

Everything here is pure perfection. Sour dough bread, macaroons, baklava. Best baklava I have ever experienced. Their hours are a bit short and selection can sell out fast, but that is just a testament to the quality. I go back nearly every week and try something new each time. Great place! read more

Rude service and opened late. Then after opening late they didn't have any pastries available. Not a great impression - wanted this place to be good. Not happy they feel like wasting my time as a customer. Won't be back. read more

This quaint, local bakery needs recognition. I love the vibe I got when I walked through the door! They have a nice assortment of pastries, were very attentive, and were priced just right! I ordered a birthday cake, a chocolate cupcake, and their famous Cinnasant! Birthday cake: One of the best birthday cakes I can remember having. Lightly sweet vanilla cake, perfectly sweetened vanilla buttercream, with a sultry chocolate ganache on top! This 2 layer, 6" round was packed with perfect flavor and separated by chocolate mousse. To top it off, it was garnished with a strawberry and a Ferrero Rocher. Cupcake: I got the chocolate one and thought it was okay. The cake was on the dryer side but not like you needed a beverage. Not my preference. Cinnasant: an interesting combination of croissant and cinnamon bun. Average as is. Amazing warmed up. Not sure if this is an option but I took it home and went to town. They have a nice assortment of turnovers and croissants so I'll be back! read more

Well I have to say this, when I arrived around 1530 hours the store was out of everything except for some cookies, macaroons and one loaf of Italian bread. There is no louder statement than that... simply good. The French would say " Partie remise " ( in this context I'll be back) Stay tuned read more

I can't give these guys high enough marks. My wife stopped by 3 weeks ago and we've been there 3 times in 3 weeks. The smallest of bakeries owned and run by a husband and wife without any other employees. They are making the VERY BEST PASTRIES I've ever had. The Danish have a ring of twisted homemade puff dough on the edge that is so perfectly cooked as the sugars are just caramelized enough to stick to your teeth and pop with a burst of flavor in the best possible way. The fillings are delicious as well. I've had the Cheese Danish and The Apple so far. The Chocolate Raspberry Croissant was extremely light and flaky and had a nice chocolate Raspberry balance. Cinnasants are Cinnamon Buns made with Croissant dough and they will blow your mind !! We've gotten them every time. Their Tomato Pie was exceptional with a hint of seasoning in the dough that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Lastly, we tried a small Italian Loaf and a few pistolettes that, as I expected, were just as on point as everything else we've tried. I've been told their Challah is very good. I'll be trying that next. read more

I would ask anyone considering this place to read their response to the negative reviews. It speaks volumes to their state of mind. I also see a theme as well which I experienced personally. It seems they blackmail customers. As with several other customers I went in to pickup my daughters birthday cake. They hadn't made it correctly and were charging us more than quoted. The husband(?) was defending us while the wife(?) berated us for being demanding and cheap. They got in a heated argument. Then she screamed at us to either take the cake or get out of her shop and have no cake for your daughter. He got so flustered that he just stormed out. My daughter started crying so I just paid and got out as quickly as possible. One of the worst retail experience I have ever had. And the cake wasn't even that good. The woman is just crazy. Don't go there. read more

Idk where some of these reviewers come from but STOP GIVING AMAZING BUSINESSES 1-2 STARS BECAUSE OF SOMETHING THATS OUT OF THEIR CONTROL ! Sheeesh ! It's hard enough for these small businesses to stay afloat . This bakery is phenomenal . They dish out some of the best pastries I've ever eaten in my life . Sometimes , they're going to be sold out , OHKAY ! That's fine ! That means it's a hot commodity and should be treated as such . That's how damn good this place is ! Worth every penny , every minute of wait time . (Temporary opening time is 10:30 am !!!!!!) read more

Driving to Maryland and decided to stop by this cute spot. Cute shop, Very well priced, great selection, good service and absolutely delicious!!! read more

The best. Bakery. Ever!! Pastries are fresh and always delicious. I have asked them to make several custom pastries, some that they've never made before like cornetti and raspberry cream puffs. They couldn't find raspberries the weekend I ordered the cream puffs (middle of winter and Valentine's Day) so they messaged me a few hours before and offered an alternative of a cream puff with raspberry whipped cream with a blackberry and edible flower on top. It tasted incredible and I knew it was super fresh as they literally just made it. It was super affordable too, only $1 per puff. Their tomato pie slices are better than the ones I had in Sicily!! Not exaggerating, I get a slice or two to share almost every time I visit. They are always friendly and helpful in person and when you speak with them online over Facebook messenger. So happy that I live close by. read more

Bread and Buttercream - So cute and delicious! - Bakeries Near Me - Wilmington, Delaware

I just moved to the area and this bakery has a lot of great reviews on Yelp. I decided to stop by to try their Tomato Pizza ($3.50) and their famous Chocolate Croissants ($3.75). The Tomato Pizza was just okay, a tad too sour and a bit doughy because it's Sicilian style, nothing special. But what I'm disappointed the most is the croissants. I think I had too high of expectation after reading some reviews which claimed that their croissants are as good as the one in France. I'm a huge fan of croissants and have tried so many croissants in my life. The one I had at Bread and Buttercream Bakery is nothing compare to the one I had in France (if you ever go to Paris, go to Ble Sucre and you'll know what I mean). The croissants wasn't flaky, and honestly the price is quite expensive. Perhaps other items in the menu are good, so I'll go back again to try something else. PS: please note my review is solely based on the taste of the food. The service was superb. read more

Bread and Buttercream - Chocolate Croissants ($3.75) - not my favorite croissant - Bakeries Near Me - Wilmington, Delaware

This is the only bakery in the Wilmington area that makes cranberry walnut bread which is delicious. However, you must order it in advance. Their bagels have the perfect consistency. The croissants are flaky and buttery. The owner and staff are so nice, too. Nannette S. read more

Their bread is absolutely amazing. Their baked goods are very good. I try not to buy them but usually can't resist

I found the secret to get the pastries I enjoy from this bakery. You can place the order to pickup at a later date. Thank you to the person who sent me a message telling me this secret. (Okay I'm sure it's not a secret but it never occurred to me to do this). Placed the order on Sunday for Tuesday. Went in Tuesday and they had my order boxed up and ready to go. Now I just have to control myself from doing this every week. I highly recommend this bakery. The cinnamon rolls and danishes are delicious. Always my go to pastries. read more

The food is great, but their hours are limited and forever unreliable. Love the breads, danishes, croissants! But the last four times I tried to come here, they were closed when they we're supposed to be open! I showed up at 10:30 on a sunday, and the door has a sign that says 10:45. I showed up on a normal Tuesday around lunchtime, and a sign on the door "closed for the day". I literally cannot buy things here if I want to. It has been this way for a year. It's not just over a week or a month. Good luck to anyone who might find them open. read more

Usually i don't leave reviews for business but this little shop is a 10/10 recommend. I just ordered a cake for my boyfriend's birthday and the cake was very moist and flavorful. The service was great and the atmosphere was very welcoming. read more

While the croissants are the best I ever had the owners have total disregard for their customers. Any retail business that posts hours need to stick to it. I can't tell you how many times I have gone there only to find a sign that says opening is delayed. Also, who ever heard of a bakery opening at 10:30? The croissants are fresh right out of the oven, not normally a lunch item. If you eat it the next morning they are not the same. Really too bad. Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode. read more

Bread and Buttercream helped me design a cake for my wife's birthday. The owners worked with me to understand what she liked, and the results - a light, fluffy, and not overly sweet white chocolate strawberry mousse cake on a sponge base - came out beautifully. The owners are also extremely hospitable. Imad hooked my toddler up with a cinnamon roll, which was a kind gesture - and the roll was also amazing. They've definitely earned a repeat customer in me. read more

Nice little bakery that's settled in North Wilmington. Upon entering, I was greeted by the owner, Imad. He took the initiative time to hold a conversation and walk me through every item he had on displayed. My purpose for this visit was to just grab a birthday cake. Since everything here are appealing to the eyes, it's simply hard to walk out with just one thing. Choose wisely as it can get a bit pricey. Plenty of pretty decadent desserts. Will be coming back, but their hours doesn't work too well for me during the weekdays. read more
